Chun'er escorted Yuwen Yue out. Yuwen Yue knew her little scheme to seize the opportunity to leave the Royal Palace and exposed it without mercy. He certainly did not want Noble Consort Wei to think they got along well, and then ask the Emperor to bestow a marriage. This was not the result Chun'er wanted either, so she had to stop in place and watch Yuwen Yue leave the Royal Palace with longing eyes.

Back at the Elite Cavalry Camp, Yuan Che, with a gossipy look, asked how he and Chun'er got along. Yuwen Yue knew from his tone that Yuan Che and Noble Consort Wei were colluding. Yuwen Yue did not want to marry Chun'er simply because of Chu Qiao. Yuan Che advised him to see the facts clearly as soon as possible.

Chu Qiao was indeed a good girl, but how could Yuwen Yue, the son of a dignified Grand Pillar State, the eldest son and legitimate grandson of the Yuwen clan, marry a woman who had been a slave? Furthermore, Chu Qiao had been living with Yan Xun day and night in Yingge Pavilion for three years; as an unchaperoned man and woman, what should have happened must have already happened.

It was absolutely not worth Yuwen Yue doing this for her. Yuwen Yue did not want to hear him continue, and turned to leave. Seeing his indifference, Yuan Che had no choice but to tell him that he did not intend to let Yan Xun leave Chang'an alive. Yan Xun was full of hatred and malice; if he were allowed to leave, Great Wei would never know peace, and Chu Qiao would inevitably be implicated by then.

Yuan Che reminded Yuwen Yue to understand his own identity. The Emperor sent Yuan Che to welcome Crown Prince Xiao Ce of Southern Liang. This was not an easy task. It was said that Xiao Ce would not touch anything that had been handled by a man. Even the vegetables and fruits he ate since childhood were grown on a fertile piece of land cultivated in the Royal Palace by young maidens.

Such incidents were countless; he was not an easy person to deal with. A soldier reported that Xiao Ce was ill and planned to turn back. Moreover, Xiao Ce had stated beforehand that he found Yuan Che, who had just returned from the front lines, had too much malevolence on him, and was unwilling to meet him. Yuan Che had no choice but to send Chu Qiao with a group of people to welcome him.

Chu Qiao and her people waited early on the road Xiao Ce was sure to pass. Xiao Ce's maidservant was arrogant and overbearing, whipping and injuring a soldier. When it came to wielding a whip, Chu Qiao was an expert. With one whip, she forcefully pulled the maidservant sitting on the edge of the carriage directly onto the horse's back. The horse, startled, ran wildly with the carriage. Chu Qiao rode her horse behind.

Suddenly, a man in a red robe with two small braids on his head galloped over on his horse. His face was fair as jade, his features were delicate, comparable to a woman's, and he wore a roguish smile. This was Crown Prince Xiao Ce of Southern Liang. When the two horses were close, Xiao Ce, with a leap, landed on Chu Qiao's horse, then conveniently put his arm around her waist. Chu Qiao hated strangers touching her the most.

After throwing a few punches, she directly threw Xiao Ce off the horse. The Crown Prince, who had just been charming and dashing, fell heavily to the ground, looking disheveled. He lay pitifully on the ground, accusing Chu Qiao of being heartless. With the Crown Prince having been beaten, his maidservant insistently demanded that Yuan Che punish Chu Qiao. After returning, Chu Qiao knew she had caused big trouble and willingly confessed her wrongdoing to Yuan Che.

Unexpectedly, Yuan Che actually praised her for doing a good job. Military people disliked an effeminate troublemaker like Xiao Ce the most. Even if Chu Qiao hadn't made a move, Yuan Che had already planned to give Xiao Ce a good beating. However, the matter of Xiao Ce being beaten could be a big or small matter. Yuan Che gave orders that no one should leak the news, and they should wait to see what move Xiao Ce would make.

Subsequently, Yuan Song, with a look of utter despair, went to complain to Older Brother Qi, Yuan Che. Xiao Ce had tormented him terribly. Yuan Che only cared if Xiao Ce had mentioned being beaten by Chu Qiao. Only then did Yuan Song realize that Xiao Ce's panda eyes were from Chu Qiao's beating, which was truly satisfying. A waft of floral scent drifted over, and Yuan Song caught Xiao Ce's scent.

Two maidservants were seen carrying flower baskets, swaying their slender waists and scattering petals. Xiao Ce then strutted over, walking on a path of petals, and immediately asked where Chu Qiao was. As soon as Chu Qiao came out, his hand naughtily touched her waist. Chu Qiao couldn't hold back and hit Xiao Ce again. Who knew Xiao Ce was into this sort of thing and insisted on Chu Qiao becoming his personal guard to protect his safety.

Xiao Ce was to enter the Royal Palace to meet the Emperor. Chu Qiao rode in the same carriage as him, personally escorted by Yuan Che and Yuan Song. In the luxurious and comfortable carriage, Xiao Ce looked at Chu Qiao with great interest, while Chu Qiao was cold as ice, having no intention of paying him any mind. But she couldn't stand against the Crown Prince's familiarity. After knowing her name was Chu Qiao, he affectionately called her Qiaoqiao.

Seeing Chu Qiao close her eyes to rest, looking unapproachable, Xiao Ce suddenly said his hands were cold and wanted her to warm them up for him. Then his hand gradually reached towards Chu Qiao's chest. Just as he was about to succeed, a pig-like scream came from inside the carriage, and Xiao Ce embarrassingly flew out of the carriage and fell to the ground. However, he was thick-skinned enough.

After getting back into the carriage, he held a medicine bottle and asked Chu Qiao to apply the medicine for him. They finally arrived at the Royal Palace. Two rows of beautiful women stood on both sides of the road to welcome them. Xiao Ce walked through them with Chu Qiao, showing no interest in these common beauties.

Since both countries had the intention of a marriage alliance, the Emperor, to show goodwill, let Xiao Ce choose his marriage alliance partner himself. Xiao Ce excused himself by saying this matter was up to his Emperor Father, but he had taken a liking to someone and hoped the Emperor would grant it. That person was Chu Qiao, standing beside him. Before the Emperor could speak, Consort Lan, whom he had recently ennobled, couldn't sit still.

She excused herself by saying that Chu Qiao was a talented general chosen by the Emperor without sticking to convention, and was not suitable to be given away, hoping Xiao Ce would understand. Chu Qiao returned to the Elite Cavalry Camp. When she saw Yuwen Yue, she pretended not to see him and walked directly past him. She wanted to leave, but Yuwen Yue wouldn't let her.

Chu Qiao asked him in a strong tone if he was trying to cause trouble. With such a sharp tone, Yuwen Yue questioned how she dared to speak to him like that. Chu Qiao felt that this person must have gone crazy. She had almost killed him several times, so speaking like this was not surprising, right? These words somehow struck Yuwen Yue's funny bone. His habitually expressionless face actually showed a clear smile.

Seeing her so audacious now, it seemed she had latched onto Xiao Ce and gained confidence. Chu Qiao mocked him, saying he wasn't bad looking either, and perhaps if he tried a bit harder, Xiao Ce might also notice him. Meanwhile, Consort Lan knelt before the memorial tablet privately set up for Luo He. Luo He had saved her life, which was why she had stopped Xiao Ce today. However, Chu Qiao seemed not to recognize her.

Consort Lan didn't know whether or not she should go see her, as she was pregnant now and had to be cautious in everything she did. Now, both Xiao Ce and Xiao Yu were in Chang'an. As the imperial princess and Crown Prince of Liang, they should meet no matter what. The brother and sister were outwardly friendly but inwardly at odds, constantly engaged in open and covert struggles.

However, they both had a common goal: to instigate a great war between Great Wei and Northern Yan. Whoever accomplished this would gain the appreciation of the Emperor of Liang. Xiao Ce had finally managed to leave Liang. Free from his Emperor Father's restraints, he would definitely make Xiao Yu pay.
