Our Glamorous Time Episode 9 Recap
> Our Glamorous Time Recap
Lin Qian moved into the Aida studio apartment, which was next to Li Zhicheng’s room. As she unpacked, she heard a sound from next door and found Li Zhicheng, who was recuperating from an injury, had accidentally dropped his phone. She quickly picked it up for him, becoming flustered when she saw his bare torso. Lin Qian softly told him that they were neighbors now and he could call her if he needed anything before quickly leaving.
Li Zhicheng had earlier explained the poor security in Lin Qian's old neighborhood, advising her to stay there for her safety, with Wasp and Monkey available to assist her. Due to his injury, Li Zhicheng entrusted Lin Qian with the letter of authorization and the list of items to hand over to Mr. Warner. He confirmed that all items had been verified by her and the other employees, and that she simply needed to seal the deal.
Lin Qian initially hesitated, asking if she really had to go, but Li Zhicheng stressed that he couldn't go in his current condition and that everything was already confirmed. She then wished him a good rest and left with the seal. Lin Qian went to the office to meet Chen Yayi. Chen Yayi immediately pulled her aside, eagerly questioning the progress of her relationship with Li Zhicheng.
Chen Yayi had heard rumors that Li Zhicheng was sick with worry about the project and that the company had little money, but Lin Qian quickly dispelled them, stating he was merely on a business trip. Chen Yayi then noticed Lin Qian calling him by his full name, rather than "President Li," and pressed her for details.
Lin Qian revealed, after some hesitation, that she had just discovered Li Zhicheng was the special forces commander who had saved her life in Yunnan. Chen Yayi was ecstatic, exclaiming it was "better than TV drama" and asking when Lin Qian realized he was "Mr. Right." Lin Qian, embarrassed, urged her to keep it a secret.
Chen Yayi then learned Lin Qian had moved into the apartment next to Li Zhicheng's, immediately teasing them about living together and declaring them a "dream couple." She vehemently encouraged Lin Qian to "pin him down" and not let the opportunity go, but Lin Qian, flustered, insisted she was "very reserved" and only admired him as a colleague. Meanwhile, at Xinbaorui’s president’s office, Ning Weikai was fiercely determined to prevent Aida from growing.
He believed if Aida thrived, Wenda would be revived, nullifying all their past efforts to gain market dominance. He declared that they had to secure Warner’s fabric to completely defeat Aida. When a subordinate questioned the chairman's clear instruction against buying the fabric, Ning Weikai, agitated, dismissed it as dwelling on "so little money" and ordered the subordinate to leave. Soon after, Zhu Hanjing arrived, bringing good news.
She informed Ning Weikai that she had successfully persuaded her father, Chairman Zhu, who trusted Ning Weikai's loyalty and judgment. Ning Weikai was delighted and immediately had his legal staff prepare. Hanjing confirmed the contract was drafted and stamped, then Ning Weikai placed a call to Mr. Warner, admitting he had let him down before but promising not to disappoint him again. Lin Qian, accompanied by Chen Yayi, met Mr. Warner.
Lin Qian prepared to present the list of items, but Warner abruptly announced the termination of the project. Lin Qian was stunned. Warner explained that they needed more cash, and Aida's deposit was too small, with most funds only payable after three months, which they couldn't wait for. Lin Qian reminded him that they had a signed contract, but Warner dismissively stated that contracts could be terminated.
He assured her that Aida's deposit and penalty fees would be paid within three business days, but insisted he was "only talking business" and responsible for his own company’s profit, separating friendship from business. Chen Yayi angrily warned Warner that his disloyal actions would be exposed in China, but he simply retorted that his company had technology China needed and he would adhere to the contract terms. Lin Qian was deeply disappointed by Warner’s betrayal but found herself helpless.
Grace rushed to Aida upon learning of Li Zhicheng’s injury, insisting on finding him a good doctor. She grew concerned at the sight of his still-bloody wound, urging him to see a doctor despite his reassurances that he was accustomed to military injuries and recovered quickly. Li Zhicheng then asked Grace how she had met his elder brother, Li Zhiqian.
Grace fondly reminisced about her early career as a junior editor, constantly scolded by her chief editor for failing to secure articles from prominent designers. In a flashback, she was seen trying to get an article from Mr. Dai Fei, but instead stumbled upon him having an affair. She stealthily took pictures, leading to her being chased by his mistress and security. Fleeing in a panic, she accidentally burst into Li Zhiqian's hotel room.
She explained her predicament to Li Zhiqian, stating that while she needed Dai Fei for her work, her conscience compelled her to expose his infidelity to his wife. Li Zhiqian agreed with her principles and introduced himself. Grace soon realized he was Li Zhiqian, the president of Wenda Group. As Grace was about to continue her story, she received a call from a colleague named Cindy, prompting her to hurriedly leave, promising to visit again soon.
Later, back at her office, Grace sat by the window, silently reflecting on her cherished memories with Li Zhiqian, her face streaked with tears as she mourned the changes time had brought. That evening, Lin Qian returned to Aida and apologetically informed Li Zhicheng that Warner had seemingly found a higher bidder for the fabric. Li Zhicheng, remaining calm, reassured her that it wasn't her fault, but rather his for overestimating Warner.
He even offered her the option to leave if a better job opportunity arose. Startled, Lin Qian asked if he wanted her to leave. Li Zhicheng explained that Aida was a large ship and he was its helmsman, but he would never force his crew to stay on a sinking ship if they could find better opportunities.
Lin Qian, with a mix of humor and seriousness, declared herself a sailor and pledged to stay with Aida until the very end, as long as the ship hadn't sunk, telling him not to underestimate her. In Xinbaorui’s meeting room, Ning Weikai triumphantly announced that Warner’s fabric had just been delivered to their company’s warehouse, and large-scale production had officially commenced. Feeling confident, he resolved to press their advantage and completely crush Aida.
A subordinate noted that losing the fabric was just Aida's external trouble, and they needed to focus on its internal problems. Ning Weikai confirmed that they had leaked information about Aida's failure with Warner to President Chen, knowing that Chen Zheng would eagerly use his company Simeiqi’s internet troll department to spread negative publicity and demoralize Aida.
He also instructed the HR department to specifically target and recruit Aida’s skilled personnel, eager to see how Aida would manage to recover this time. The next day, Gu Yanzhi arrived at work to find the office nearly empty, with only Chen Yayi present. He was shocked to learn that resignation letters had been submitted.
Chen Yayi showed him a message circulating in the employee group chat, revealing that the supplier had breached the contract and Aida was expected to fail. Outside, employees were loudly demanding to see Li Zhicheng. Gu Yanzhi tried to deflect, claiming Li Zhicheng was on a business trip, but the employees were aggressive, insisting he call Li Zhicheng on the spot. Lin Qian, who was upstairs visiting the injured Li Zhicheng, heard the uproar downstairs.
She descended to find the office in chaos. Stepping forward, she addressed the agitated employees, introducing herself as Li Zhicheng's newly hired chief designer for the Mingsheng project. She passionately spoke about cherishing this opportunity and her determination to do her best. She urged everyone to trust her and Li Zhicheng, emphasizing the need for unity in this difficult time.
She argued that other companies were trying to poach them only because they were associated with Aida, a strategic move to destabilize the company. Lin Qian warned that if they turned against Aida now, no one else would hire them. Her heartfelt plea resonated with the employees, calming the volatile situation. To further ease the tension, Lin Qian grabbed a whistle and, with a cheerful blow, started running, encouraging others to join her.
Hesitantly at first, the employees eventually followed, and Aida gradually returned to a semblance of normal. Later, Aidi company delivered new waterproof uniform samples, made according to Lin Qian's specifications. However, Lin Qian was visibly disheartened, knowing that with Warner's breach of contract, even the best samples would be useless. She went to the restroom, wiping away tears. As she washed her face, she noticed a piece of fabric tied to a leaky faucet.
Curious, she took it to a staff member, who explained it was an experimental waterproof fabric developed last year for a canceled project. She then spoke with President Huang, who confirmed the project was abandoned because upstream buyers preferred imported materials, and Aidi lacked funds for promotion. Lin Qian, however, recognized the fabric’s superior quality, capable of competing with the best imported products.
President Huang affirmed this, explaining that he had demanded very high standards for its thermal insulation and aeration during development. He then expressed concerns about using the semi-finished fabric without full testing, but Lin Qian insisted on redoing all safety tests with his specialists, ensuring the fabric would exceed all standards. Chen Yayi enthusiastically supported Lin Qian, who promised to do her best.
Lin Qian then excitedly rushed to tell Li Zhicheng the good news: they had found an excellent waterproof fabric, and their original plan for the Mingsheng project could still work. She quickly announced her intention to move into the lab with Chen Yayi to dedicate herself to the design and performance testing of the waterproof uniform, to which Li Zhicheng gave his full support.
