In a meeting room, Li Zhicheng calmly told Peter that it was DP who needed Wenda, not the other way around, as Wenda was the only company in Linhai City that met all of DP's production line requirements. Peter agreed to allow Li Zhicheng some time to calculate a sincere price. Before leaving, Li Zhicheng warned Peter not to cross his bottom line, stating that having Wenda and Xinbaorui compete against each other was an unwise move.
He advised Peter, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do." Later at home, Lin Qian was relaxing with Li Zhicheng when he asked if any unusual people had visited her store recently. Lin Qian found his question strange and inquired if something was wrong. Li Zhicheng explained that Wenda was negotiating a manufacturing collaboration with DP, but he knew almost nothing about Peter, which left him feeling vulnerable since DP seemed to know a lot about Wenda.
Lin Qian then asked if he had a plan, to which he reassured her to focus on managing her Qingcheng brand and not worry about other matters. The signing ceremony between Peter and Li Zhicheng officially took place, making Wenda DP's manufacturing supplier. Peter commented on Li Zhicheng's meticulous nature, attributing it to his military background, and expressed hopes for a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership. Immediately after the ceremony, Wenda swiftly began producing DP's clothing.
When Chen Zheng learned about the contract, he was upset that DP hadn't informed Simeiqi. However, Peter's assistant, Jerry, bluntly told Chen Zheng that Simeiqi's only role was to cooperate with DP's work, a response that further infuriated Chen Zheng, who demanded to speak with Peter directly. While inspecting the production line at Wenda, Li Zhicheng was shocked to discover that many of DP's clothing designs were identical to those of the Qingcheng brand.
Outraged, he immediately ordered a halt to all DP production lines. However, concerned that an abrupt stop would constitute a breach of contract and incur a massive penalty fee, Gu Yanzhi secretly instructed the factory to continue production behind Li Zhicheng's back. Meanwhile, Chen Yayi, while shopping, coincidentally found DP clothes that were exactly like Lin Qian's designs. Angered, she purchased several items intending to show them to Lin Qian as proof.
She encountered Chen Zheng, who offered her a discount, but Yayi, in her frustration, snapped at him and left. Upon seeing the copied designs, Lin Qian was furious. Yayi then remembered that Peter had shown a particular interest in her dress when they met, even taking a photo of her. She realized that Peter had intended to copy the Qingcheng design all along.
Lin Qian was also surprised to hear that Yayi was dating Chen Zheng, but she postponed that discussion, prioritizing taking photos of the copied dresses to send to Li Zhicheng. Chen Zheng called a meeting with his company's board members, urging them to unite against Peter, whom he described as unpredictable, to prevent DP from monopolizing Simeiqi. To his dismay, he discovered that the board members had already sold their shares to DP, having been offered a substantial amount.
Chen Zheng angrily accused them of desertion, recognizing his helplessness against DP's tactics. Back at the factory, Li Zhicheng found production still underway, angrily questioning why his orders to stop had been defied. Gu Yanzhi then arrived, admitting he had given the order to continue. He explained that stopping production would breach the contract and result in a huge penalty.
As Wenda's Vice President, he felt obligated to protect the company's interests, noting that halting production wouldn't resolve the infringement issue anyway. Li Zhicheng summoned Gu Yanzhi and Li Jinyuan to his office. He presented the contract, pointing to an exception clause that explicitly stated if a legal conflict arose between the two parties, the second party (Wenda) could delay delivery until the conflict was resolved, thus avoiding a penalty for breach of contract.
Li Zhicheng revealed he had anticipated Peter's cunning and deliberately had the lawyers include this provision. Relieved about the penalty, Gu Yanzhi then asked about the hundreds of newly hired workers. Li Zhicheng firmly stated that they could be immediately assigned to other projects, emphasizing that Wenda would not condone DP's plagiarism. At Xinbaorui, Ning Weikai reviewed a report showing a significant drop in sales, attributing it to DP's new brand, Domini di Pioggia.
Just then, Zhu Hanchong entered his office, gloating about Xinbaorui's poor performance and mocking Ning Weikai. Ning Weikai retorted that Xinbaorui's loss was also the Zhu Group's loss. Zhu Hanchong smirked, mentioning that his father had been very disappointed in Ning Weikai lately. Meanwhile, at Wenda's factory, the newly hired employees, upset by the unexpected halt in production, began to cause a disturbance.
Li Zhicheng quickly returned and publicly promised that no one would be fired, reassuring them that their jobs and pay were secure. The workers' worries turned to cheers as they expressed their support for Li Zhicheng. Chen Yayi met with Chen Zheng, expressing her anger that the formal dress she had borrowed from Qingcheng was now being copied by DP, demanding an explanation from him.
Chen Zheng swore he was unaware of DP's plagiarism and admitted he had also been played by DP, with Simeiqi's shares gradually being acquired. He lamented losing control of the company his father had worked so hard to build. Seeing Chen Zheng's self-reproach, Yayi comforted him, and they decided to order a feast to eat away their frustrations. Li Zhicheng brought Lin Qian to confront Peter. Lin Qian angrily accused DP of copying her designs.
Peter argued that the fashion industry often had "coincidences," and since the Qingcheng series was not patented, it didn't constitute copying. Li Zhicheng sternly stated they had evidence and would file a lawsuit, which would halt DP's production and sales. Peter scoffed, warning that Wenda, with its limited resources, would be dragged into a bottomless pit if it dared to challenge DP.
Li Zhicheng retorted with equal force, saying that Wenda would fight to the very end to protect its reputation. He then left with Lin Qian. Back at Wenda, Li Zhicheng immediately instructed Gu Yanzhi to contact other garment factories friendly with Wenda. He asked them not to accept DP's orders, or at least to inform them of DP's plagiarism and encourage them to significantly raise their prices, knowing DP desperately needed suppliers.
Peter soon received news that while DP had found several alternative manufacturers, they were all drastically raising their prices upon learning of Wenda's production halt. Annoyed, Peter ordered his team to quickly review the bids and sign contracts for production as long as the prices were within an acceptable range. For promotional purposes, Peter decided to advertise with H Group. He discussed this with Lisa, proposing an exclusive cover feature in the next magazine issue.
He suggested this collaboration would also boost Lisa's standing on the board, making it a win-win situation, which Lisa readily agreed to. Li Zhicheng called Ning Weikai and learned that DP had contacted Xinbaorui for manufacturing the day after Wenda ceased production, but Ning Weikai had rejected Peter's offer. Li Zhicheng then warned Ning Weikai that his investigation indicated several new DP stores were secretly being remodeled within 500 meters of Xinbaorui's three flagship stores.
Ning Weikai grew suspicious and immediately instructed Gao Lang to investigate. Separately, Zhu Hanchong called his father, complaining that Ning Weikai had once again rejected a lucrative collaboration with DP, even as DP was opening new stores near Xinbaorui. He suggested they should become DP's distributor for steady money. His father, however, stood by Ning Weikai, explaining that short-term gains from becoming a DP contractor would ultimately lead to Xinbaorui's own brand disappearing.
In a lighter moment, Li Zhicheng showed Lin Qian a humorous video of a boyfriend attempting to do his girlfriend's makeup. Amused by the video, Li Zhicheng then playfully offered to do Lin Qian's makeup himself, even taking her to a salon to do so.
