Outside the meeting room, Xue Mingtao attempted to coerce Hao Ling, offering her 10 million yuan to take the fall for his embezzlement, claiming it was worth it for her family. He then entered the meeting, only to find a video playing, showing his recent conversation with Hao Ling and their corrupt deal. Enraged, Xue Mingtao accused Li Zhicheng of setting him up. Li Zhicheng coolly admitted to "giving him a taste of his own medicine."

To prevent a stock market crisis, Li Zhicheng announced that for now, the matter would remain an internal company affair and asked the shareholders to keep quiet. He then instructed Gu Yanzhi to take Xue Mingtao to confess his crimes internally within the company. Zhao Zong, seizing the opportunity, added insult to injury by calling Xue Mingtao a "suspect." Xue Mingtao angrily retorted that Zhao Zong would not get away either.

Zhao Zong then tried to ingratiate himself with Li Zhicheng, but Li Zhicheng sternly informed him that Hao Ling had exposed his involvement with the ledger problem, meaning he too was implicated. Li Zhicheng then spoke directly with Xue Mingtao, who remained silent. Li Zhicheng informed him that Hao Ling had provided the real ledger, which was now with the auditing firm, and results would be out soon.

He offered to handle the matter internally if Xue Mingtao confessed; otherwise, he would be handed over to the police. Xue Mingtao defiantly refused to speak without a lawyer, accusing Li Zhicheng of illegal imprisonment. Xue Mingtao requested to use the restroom, and Gu Yanzhi accompanied him. Meanwhile, Li Zhicheng went to the auditing firm. Before leaving, Li Zhicheng told Gu Yanzhi to keep a close watch on the "old fox."

At the auditing firm, Li Zhicheng was shocked to learn from a new staff member that Li Zhiqian, Wenda's former president, had also previously commissioned an audit of these same accounts. A chilling realization struck Li Zhicheng: Xue Mingtao might be connected to his brother's death. He immediately called Gu Yanzhi, urging him to keep Xue Mingtao under strict surveillance, explaining his brother had investigated the accounts shortly before his death.

In the restroom, Gu Yanzhi, after ending the call, summoned security guards. Xue Mingtao, having overheard the conversation, knew his secrets were about to unravel. He seized a heavy object, struck Gu Yanzhi, knocking him unconscious, and fled. After Gu Yanzhi recovered, he admitted his carelessness regarding Xue Mingtao's escape. Li Zhicheng immediately decided to report Xue Mingtao to the police, convinced of his connection to his brother's death.

A police bulletin for Xue Mingtao's arrest was promptly issued, and Ma Feng's team scoured various locations but found no trace of him. Grace and Ning Weikai arrived, having been informed. Ning Weikai expressed his long-standing resentment, recounting how Xue Mingtao's disruptive actions had forced him to leave Wenda years ago. He vowed to find Xue Mingtao for Li Zhiqian, who had been very important to him. They decided to split up to widen the search.

Ning Weikai suddenly remembered an old, little-known Wenda warehouse located near Xue Mingtao's home, and he and Grace immediately headed there. Meanwhile, at the Li residence, Li Zhongming, having learned that Xue Mingtao had murdered Li Zhiqian, became agitated. Despite his illness, he managed to get into his car and drove off, unbeknownst to his family, while his housekeeper was fetching his medicine.

Grace and Ning Weikai found Xue Mingtao's car at the old warehouse and sent their location to Li Zhicheng before entering. Outside, Li Zhongming, having arrived in the area, confronted Xue Mingtao, distraught and accusing him of killing Zhiqian. Inside the warehouse, Ning Weikai cornered Xue Mingtao. Xue Mingtao, claiming to be an "old idiot," pleaded for mercy, saying he was a founder of Wenda and on Li Zhongming's account, asked for a way out. He then offered money.

Ning Weikai angrily reminded him of his past misdeeds at Wenda and his certain responsibility for Li Zhiqian's death. As Ning Weikai spoke, Xue Mingtao suddenly produced a knife and lunged. Grace bravely pushed Ning Weikai out of the way, sustaining an injury in the process. Seizing the opportunity, Xue Mingtao once again escaped. Grace quickly called Li Zhicheng, urging him to intercept Xue Mingtao. Li Zhicheng soon spotted Xue Mingtao fleeing.

However, the cunning Xue Mingtao managed to evade Li Zhicheng by abandoning his car and escaping on foot. As Li Zhicheng found the empty vehicle, he received a distraught call from Li Jinyuan. She was crying, reporting that their father had disappeared from home and was driving, despite not having driven for a long time. Li Zhicheng, alarmed, instructed her to immediately report it to the police, as his father's car had a GPS tracker.

Back at the warehouse, Grace tended to Ning Weikai's wound. Ning Weikai, weakened by blood loss, still managed to joke about his "honor" in taking the knife for her. He asked Grace if she would be with him if he survived. Grace initially said she would seriously consider it, but as he weakened, she tearfully promised she would be with him. He then playfully demanded a kiss to seal the promise, which she gave him on the cheek.

Ning Weikai then smiled and lost consciousness, alarming Grace. Doctors at the hospital later confirmed he was out of danger after surgery, though he had lost a lot of blood. Meanwhile, Xue Mingtao, having returned to the Wenda headquarters building, found Li Zhongming sitting on a bench outside. Li Zhongming, affected by his illness, invited Xue Mingtao to sit with him, reminiscing about their shared past and the early days of building Wenda together, mentioning Li Zhiqian.

Xue Mingtao, filled with remorse, apologized, telling Li Zhongming that those days were in the past. He then bowed deeply, tearfully repenting his sins to his old comrade. Li Zhongming's memory then faltered further, and he spoke of Li Zhiqian as a child, expressing his desire to grow Wenda even bigger for him. Just then, Li Zhicheng arrived with the police. Seeing Li Zhongming still in a confused state, Li Zhicheng signaled for the police to wait.

Li Zhongming, oblivious, bid Xue Mingtao farewell, telling him to take care of himself and that he was going to pick up Zhiqian from school. After Li Zhongming left, Xue Mingtao was arrested by the police. At the police station, Xue Mingtao confessed everything. He revealed that after Wenda's success, he developed a gambling addiction, leading him to borrow high-interest loans and embezzle company funds by falsifying accounts with Hao Ling.

When Li Zhiqian discovered his actions, Xue Mingtao desperately begged him to keep silent, appealing to their long-standing relationship through Li Zhongming. One day, after Li Zhiqian had successfully closed a major deal with a French client, he was heavily intoxicated. Xue Mingtao seized the opportunity, inviting him to the riverside for more celebratory drinks. Once Li Zhiqian passed out from the alcohol, Xue Mingtao locked him in his car, released the handbrakes, and pushed the vehicle into the river.

As Xue Mingtao recounted the gruesome details, Li Zhicheng was overcome with fury and had to be restrained by the police, while Li Jinyuan openly wept, devastated that a man who had watched them grow up could commit such a heinous act. The Li family later visited Li Zhiqian's grave. The ordeal, however, caused Li Zhongming's old illness to worsen, and he began to confuse Li Zhiqian with Li Zhicheng.

Lin Qian, who had been unable to reach Li Zhicheng for two days, received a tearful call from Li Jinyuan. Li Jinyuan explained that Xue Mingtao had confessed to killing Li Zhiqian and that Li Zhicheng was inconsolable, refusing to eat, drink, or sleep, and had disappeared for almost two days. Lin Qian comforted Li Jinyuan and promised to find Li Zhicheng. Lin Qian eventually found Li Zhicheng sitting alone by the riverside.

He confessed to feeling immense guilt for failing to protect his brother. Lin Qian gently persuaded him, telling him that if he truly felt he owed his brother, he should honor his memory by living fully and accomplishing his dreams. She reminded him that while loss is inevitable in life, one must not shy away from living and taking up their responsibilities. Li Zhicheng, finding solace in her words, embraced her tightly.
