She then sternly told him that while she didn't love Gu Yanzhi, he meant far more to her than Chen Zheng did.
Chen Zheng, still convinced she was lying, felt her pulse, claiming it accelerates when people are insincere. He then kissed her, which provoked an angry slap from Li Jinyuan. Chen Zheng later received a call from Ning Weikai, who asked about the progress of their plan. Learning it wasn't going well, Ning Weikai urged Chen Zheng to consider his family business.
Chen Zheng admitted he felt remorseful about using Jinyuan, but Ning Weikai reminded him it was a necessary step for his family business. After hanging up, Li Jinyuan's words about wanting a simple and honest love echoed in his mind, and inexplicably, the image of Chen Yayi's face appeared. He then chuckled to himself, dismissing it as a silly thought. Meanwhile, Lin Qian remained steadfast in her determination to become Teacher Geng's apprentice.
Teacher Geng was surprised by Lin Qian's extensive knowledge of ancient embroidery, specifically Han Embroidery techniques and various silk types. Her senior apprentice immediately confiscated Lin Qian's phone and informed her that she could not leave the courtyard without permission. Xue Mingtao’s secretary showed Li Zhicheng to an unusually small office, for which Xue Mingtao feigned anger at his secretary's "poor arrangements." Li Zhicheng, unfazed, stated that the small room was perfectly adequate, prompting Xue Mingtao to concede, adding that Li Zhicheng wouldn't need to be in the office daily, only to attend shareholder meetings.
Li Zhicheng had moved back to his family home to live with his father, who was preparing a power of attorney for him to become Wenda's Chairman. However, Li Zhicheng had chosen to return as Vice Chairman to compete for the CEO position. Later, Chen Zheng received another call from Ning Weikai, who warned him about Li Zhicheng's allies. Chen Zheng, still feeling guilty about manipulating Jinyuan, expressed discomfort with the plan. He then spotted Chen Yayi apartment hunting nearby.
He abruptly told Ning Weikai he had someone he liked, then hung up to pursue Chen Yayi. Learning she had resigned from Aida, he enthusiastically invited her to work for Simeiqi as his assistant, offering generous pay and benefits. However, Chen Yayi sharply refused, calling him the most dangerous person and referencing his history of heartbroken women. He assured her that Xinbaorui possessed the necessary resources, professional talent, and a shared dedication to design excellence, making them the ideal partner. Convinced by his sincerity, Teacher Geng agreed to the collaboration, and they signed a cooperation agreement.
At a Wenda board meeting, Li Zhicheng formally introduced Amanda as the chief designer of Y-Fancy. Seizing the opportunity, Xue Mingtao proposed Amanda be appointed as Wenda's Director of Design, a move to potentially exert control over Y-Fancy. Gu Yanzhi then intervened, suggesting that since the CEO position had been vacant since Chairman Li went on sick leave, a new CEO should be elected promptly.
Xue Mingtao, clearly displeased, quickly deferred the discussion, stating that it was a significant matter requiring more time for consideration. However, Teacher Geng soon appeared, coolly reminding Lin Qian of her need to "empty her mind" and focus entirely on her studies. She advised Li Zhicheng not to bother Lin Qian frequently. Li Zhicheng, understanding the rules, promised Lin Qian he would return to visit once his work at Wenda was settled. Meanwhile, Xue Mingtao privately gathered several board members for dinner to discuss the upcoming CEO election.
He urged them to abstain from voting, advocating for the CEO position to remain vacant. He expressed his reluctance to contend with Li Zhicheng, given his aggressive military background, and stated that keeping the position empty would ensure the company remained under their collective control. His plan was that if Li Zhicheng received less than half of the votes, he could not become CEO.
Gu Yanzhi informed Li Zhicheng that Zhao Wenzhuang, the senior manager of production, harbored resentment towards Xue Mingtao, who had previously taken the Y-Fancy project from him. Zhao Wenzhuang anticipated a discussion about the CEO position but was surprised when Li Zhicheng offered him the role, praising his capabilities, qualifications, and the trust he commanded among the board, in contrast to Xue Mingtao's history of conflicts with his own brother. Zhao Wenzhuang, visibly invigorated by the unexpected offer, said he needed time to consider. After Zhao Wenzhuang left, Gu Yanzhi lauded Li Zhicheng's clever tactic to ignite competition between Xue Mingtao and Zhao Wenzhuang.
He also suggested that they should thoroughly audit the company's accounts. Elsewhere, Chen Zheng attempted to apologize to Chen Yayi by ordering an extravagant meal at a Japanese restaurant. He sent her tempting photos of the food via text message while she was in a design class. Though distracted and tempted by the delicious pictures, Chen Yayi resisted his invitation. Simultaneously, Ning Weikai called Grace to invite her to dinner, but she declined, stating she was busy with work.
