Our Glamorous Time Episode 31 Recap
> Our Glamorous Time Recap
Chen Yayi noticed something unusual about Amanda's design, specifically a piece stitched together with light chiffon at the front and a heavy sweater at the back, adorned with tassels. She pointed out that such a design would cause uneven weight and discomfort for the wearer, questioning how an experienced designer could overlook such an obvious flaw. Chen Yayi worried that if they brought it up, Amanda would accuse them of picking a fight, and her assistant would escalate the conflict.
However, Lin Qian acknowledged that ignoring the issue would lead to greater problems if the design went into production. For the company's benefit, Lin Qian decided to compile the feedback herself and present it to Amanda. Lin Qian approached Amanda, who was busy giving instructions, to discuss an urgent matter privately. However, Amanda insisted they speak openly. Lin Qian showed Amanda the problematic design, emphasizing the need to stop it before it went to the factory.
Amanda then called her assistant into her office, sternly reprimanding her for including a previously rejected design in the final copy. She highlighted the critical flaw: a combination of super light material in the front and heavy, complicated design in the back, which would cause the garment to hang awkwardly. Amanda questioned her assistant's professionalism and suitability to be a designer.
The assistant tried to explain, but Amanda deemed it a "worst mistake," stating her team was not the place for someone who needed others to point out such errors. The assistant pleaded for another chance, but Amanda stressed the potential harm to Aida if the design was produced. Feeling cornered and humiliated, the assistant angrily accused Lin Qian of seeking revenge against her, likely referring to a past incident where Lin Qian had her "write up" something.
Amanda quickly silenced the assistant, reminding her that Lin Qian was acting in the company's best interest. Lin Qian, trying to mediate, acknowledged that the idea of "stitching" was good and offered to make the necessary changes herself, given the tight schedule. The assistant, however, insisted on correcting her own design, but Amanda firmly forbade her from touching any design drafts, dismissing her from the office.
Shortly after, Amanda's assistant approached Lin Qian, angrily accusing her of tattling to her superior instead of addressing the design issues with her directly. Chen Yayi quickly interjected, asserting that the assistant was clearly in the wrong and that only Amanda had the authority to halt a design. She pressed the assistant on whether she could bear the financial damages if the flawed design went into production.
The assistant, trying to avoid Chen Yayi, insisted she was speaking to Lin Qian. Chen Yayi retorted that the assistant knew she was wrong and suggested that Amanda's public reprimand was simply to demonstrate impartiality. Lin Qian stepped in, urging them to set aside their dispute due to the urgent deadline for the final design, suggesting they discuss it later.
The assistant, however, felt bullied and, after an exchange with Chen Yayi which Lin Qian diffused, called Lin Qian a "bitch" before storming off. Later, Li Zhicheng met with Grace to discuss the proposed merger of Aida and Wenda. Grace observed his troubled demeanor, advising him not to dwell on setbacks and acknowledging his efforts. Li Zhicheng revealed his true purpose, stating that Aida would rejoin Wenda.
Grace expressed concern, noting Aida's recent stability and the complex, deeply entrenched issues within Wenda, warning that returning now would make it difficult for him to discern allies from adversaries. Li Zhicheng, however, asserted that Wenda desperately needed strong leadership to prevent its collapse, and he had no more time to deliberate, implying the urgency stemmed from his father's condition. He also announced his intention to bring Y-Fancy into Wenda.
Grace, while acknowledging his success with Y-Fancy, stated that H Group would not get involved in Wenda's internal struggles. In response, Li Zhicheng offered to repurchase H Group's Aida shares at an elevated price, to which Grace readily agreed. As Chen Zheng dropped Li Jinyuan off at home, he saw Gu Yanzhi's car approaching. He then deliberately called out to Li Jinyuan and confessed his feelings, stating he had always harbored a special affection for her since high school.
He recounted remembering minute details about her, even getting upset when she spoke to other men. Chen Zheng declared that he could no longer hide his emotions and officially announced his intention to court her, emphasizing that she was the only woman who could capture his heart. Li Jinyuan, taken aback, questioned if he was under the influence or "crazy," but Chen Zheng insisted he was sober.
To further demonstrate his sincerity, he knelt before her, promising to win her over with his heartfelt actions. He asked her to seriously consider their relationship. Li Jinyuan appeared flustered and unsure how to react. Gu Yanzhi, who had just arrived, witnessed the entire scene and, consumed with rage, immediately drove away. Still fuming, Gu Yanzhi called Chen Zheng to confront him, labeling him a "jerk" and questioning his intentions with Li Jinyuan.
Chen Zheng retorted that as two single individuals, he had every right to pursue Li Jinyuan and asked what business it was of Gu Yanzhi. Gu Yanzhi accused Chen Zheng of being untrustworthy and having hidden motives.
Chen Zheng, in turn, called Gu Yanzhi prejudiced and then, sensing Gu Yanzhi's own feelings for Li Jinyuan, provocatively asserted that Gu Yanzhi was merely a "foot soldier" constantly hovering around the "princess," suggesting Li Zhicheng would never allow his sister to be with a "servant." Gu Yanzhi countered that what truly mattered to Li Jinyuan was someone who was good and true to her.
Undeterred, Chen Zheng declared that "in front of Li Zhicheng, you are forever a servant," and thus, Li Zhicheng would prevent his sister from being with him. Enraged, Gu Yanzhi warned Chen Zheng to stay away from Li Jinyuan, threatening to retaliate if he did not comply. Chen Zheng, with a playful smirk, proposed they compete fairly and quickly, to which Gu Yanzhi responded by angrily walking away.
That night, Lin Qian and Chen Yayi, having worked late on revising the design drafts, fell asleep in the design studio. While they were asleep, Amanda's assistant secretly entered the room and altered the design files on the computer. The next day, Gu Yanzhi visited Li Jinyuan at her film set, bringing baked goods for the crew and offering to drive her home after she finished.
Shortly after, Chen Zheng also arrived, bringing snacks and expensive yogurt, deliberately trying to outshine Gu Yanzhi with his offerings and questioning Gu Yanzhi's salary. Gu Yanzhi tried to ignore Chen Zheng's provocations. However, an urgent company matter called Gu Yanzhi away. As he prepared to leave, offering to pick Li Jinyuan up later, Chen Zheng interjected, claiming he had a date with her that night and would take care of her, advising Gu Yanzhi to focus on his work.
Annoyed, Gu Yanzhi left. Upon returning to the company, Gu Yanzhi walked into a heated confrontation where Amanda was vehemently accusing Lin Qian of leaking her design draft. Amanda presented proof, asserting that Lin Qian, under the pretense of helping to revise the design the previous night, had actually posted it on an international designers' forum, thereby questioning Lin Qian's professional ethics. Lin Qian firmly denied the accusation.
Chen Yayi, who had also been present, suddenly recalled hearing someone else in the design studio, along with mouse clicking, while she was asleep that night, initially mistaking them for Lin Qian. She asked who the intruder was, but Amanda dismissed it, stating she didn't care who was responsible and instead demanded an explanation from Gu Yanzhi.
Grace arrived on the scene and tried to diffuse the escalating argument between Amanda and Chen Yayi, who was vehemently defending Lin Qian and accusing Amanda of framing her. Grace reminded Chen Yayi about workplace hierarchy but promised that Gu Yanzhi would investigate the leak and provide an explanation. Chen Yayi rushed to Li Zhicheng, informing him that Amanda and her team were framing Lin Qian, accusing her of maliciously leaking designs, and urged him to intervene.
Li Zhicheng confirmed he was aware of the situation and had already dispatched "Wasp" to investigate the truth. However, when Chen Yayi pressed him to act immediately, he calmly asked if she had any evidence to prove Lin Qian's innocence. When Chen Yayi admitted she didn't, Li Zhicheng explained that simply firing Amanda or silencing accusers without proof would ultimately harm Lin Qian more than help her.
He emphasized that as Lin Qian's boyfriend, his priority was to prove her innocence through investigation, not merely to protect her without justification. Chen Yayi expressed disappointment, questioning if he truly deserved Lin Qian's love by allowing her to be wronged. Li Zhicheng went to comfort Lin Qian regarding the design leak.
He assured her that he believed her and encouraged her to focus solely on her designs, promising to handle all other matters and stating that "Wasp" was already investigating the incident. He emphasized her importance to Aida and to himself. After Li Zhicheng left, Lin Qian reflected on the criticisms she had faced, including accusations of lacking experience, leveraging her relationship with the boss, and doubts about the longevity of her Chinese element designs. She then drafted a resignation letter.
Lin Qian gave the letter to Chen Yayi, asking her to deliver it to Li Zhicheng. Chen Yayi was shocked and confused, arguing that Lin Qian was innocent and Amanda should be the one to leave. Lin Qian explained that she felt there was no definitive right or wrong in the conflict and that further argument was pointless. She also revealed that she was no longer satisfied with doing "small things" at Y-Fancy and had been contemplating leaving anyway.
She admitted that she couldn't bring herself to tell Li Zhicheng directly. Despite Chen Yayi's belief that Li Zhicheng would never accept her resignation, Lin Qian stated that while it would be difficult to leave him, he had his ambitions, and she had her own path to pursue. Chen Yayi, loyal to Lin Qian, declared she would follow her wherever she went. Upon receiving Lin Qian's resignation, Li Zhicheng immediately drove to her home, demanding she withdraw it.
Lin Qian, however, firmly refused, stating her decision was final. Li Zhicheng insisted he would neither read nor accept it, offering to resolve any issues related to Y-Fancy. Lin Qian clarified that her decision was not about problems he could solve, but about her personal resolve not to change herself and her inability to continue facing him under the current circumstances.
She explained that her original intention in joining Aida was solely to pursue her designs, without any connection to him. Despite their eventual relationship, she had hoped they could avoid the complications of office romance. However, their private relationship had become a "weapon turned against" her, leading to accusations of her professional achievements being attributed to him. She expressed her weariness of these remarks and her refusal to endure them any longer.
Li Zhicheng apologized for being preoccupied and not being considerate of her feelings. Lin Qian confessed that she had contemplated this decision for some time, staying at Aida largely because of him and constantly trying to convince herself not to give up. However, she had reached her limit and could no longer cope. Li Zhicheng urged her not to let others' opinions define her or be so hard on herself.
He acknowledged her dreams and asked for more time, suggesting they wait a bit longer for things to settle. Lin Qian, resolute, stated she could no longer force herself to do what she didn't want to do. She likened his inability to force her to leave Aida and start a business with him to her own situation, emphasizing that "love is to never forcing it."
Though she admitted not wanting to leave him, she feared that "when work intervenes in our love, it will drive me further away" from him. She informed him she would hand over her work the next day and, if he truly understood her, asked him to "let me go," as she needed time to figure out her future. Later, Chen Yayi visited Lin Qian, profusely apologizing and blaming herself for Lin Qian's resignation.
She felt her past mistakes, like damaging a wedding dress, her lack of design skills, and especially her role in the design leak, contributed to Amanda targeting Lin Qian. Lin Qian, however, reassured her that Amanda was specifically targeting her, not Chen Yayi. Separately, Gu Yanzhi also approached Lin Qian, questioning her resignation and whether Li Zhicheng had agreed to it. Lin Qian confirmed her decision and stated Li Zhicheng was supportive.
Gu Yanzhi pressed her, asking if the leak or Amanda was the reason. Lin Qian clarified that her resignation was a personal decision, unrelated to Amanda or any external pressure. Gu Yanzhi pointed out that Li Zhicheng needed her most as they prepared to reintegrate with Wenda.
Lin Qian responded that Li Zhicheng had his strong team, including Gu Yanzhi, to support him, and assured him that her departure did not signify a lack of support; she would "always be standing beside him."
