Our Glamorous Time Episode 3 Recap
> Our Glamorous Time Recap
Lin Mochen arrived at Lin Qian's studio and found her and her friend exhausted from working all night, their online shop struggling and dealing with negative feedback. He expressed concern that she was wasting her life. He then revealed that he had submitted her designs to the director of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy's (LVMH) American division, a prestigious international company, which was hiring an assistant designer.
Lin Mochen stated she had over an 80% chance of being hired, and they were eager to meet her. Lin Qian was initially thrilled but also felt conflicted. She acknowledged the invaluable learning opportunity and exposure to top fashion design, but she cherished her independence in her small, albeit challenging and unprofitable, design shop, where she could create her own designs.
Lin Mochen criticized her pursuit as a "waste of talent and life," but Lin Qian countered that working as a subordinate assistant would be no different. For her, a designer's most precious asset was freedom. Lin Mochen placed a plane ticket on the table, urging her to return to America with him and warning that if she didn't seize this opportunity, he would no longer intervene in her affairs.
Lin Qian, though grateful, refused to be pressured, asking him to respect her choices. Her friend, Ya Yi, also tried to persuade her, emphasizing LVMH's prestige as one of the world's top three luxury goods groups, but Lin Qian remained firm. Meanwhile, in a heavy rainstorm by the river, Li Zhicheng met with Grace.
Grace, deeply affected by Li Zhiqian's death, believed it was not an accident or suicide and was determined to uncover the true cause, stating she didn't believe such a self-disciplined person would die from drunk driving. Li Zhicheng shared her conviction, and they agreed to investigate those close to his late brother. Grace revealed her own investigation had led her to send Li Zhicheng a warning about impending trouble at Wenda.
She identified Xinbaorui and Simeiqi as the main beneficiaries of Li Zhiqian's death, noting their rapid market expansion after Wenda's decline. She had discovered Ning Weikai and Chen Zheng secretly collaborating to "fight Wenda together," confirming her suspicion that they were behind the previous worker unrest. Li Zhicheng vowed to save Wenda and fight to the end, a resolve Grace knew would make his brother, who proudly called him "wolf of the southwest," proud.
Their conversation was cut short by the arrival of Li Zhicheng's sister, Li Jinyuan, prompting Grace to quickly put on sunglasses and depart to avoid being recognized. Li Jinyuan pressed Li Zhicheng about his mysterious years in the army, but he deflected her questions, stating he had "something to do" and chose not to go home, asking her to drop him off. Soon after, Li Jinyuan received a news alert about Wenda being implicated in a quality inspection scandal.
At an emergency board meeting at Wenda, a board member clarified that Wenda's issue was a high shrinkage rate in a batch of children's underwear for export, not the "carcinogenic substances" inaccurately reported by the media which was an issue for another small enterprise. Despite this, the media's sensationalism had caused Wenda's stock to plummet. Some board members openly criticized Li Zhicheng for his absence and apparent evasion of responsibility, labeling him as hiding and kicking problems to others.
Gu Yanzhi, through an earpiece, was instructed by Li Zhicheng to remain silent and let the board members speak. Later, Gu Yanzhi privately urged Li Zhicheng to make a public appearance due to the mounting internal criticism. Li Zhicheng, however, maintained that the "timing isn't right yet," explaining his strategy to "lure the snake out of its hole." He suspected the fabric issue was deliberately orchestrated, noting the suspicious precision of the timing of its exposure.
Following Li Zhicheng's lead, Gu Yanzhi discreetly questioned Manager Zhang, a department manager involved with the fabric supply. Gu Yanzhi exposed Manager Zhang's inconsistent testimony about meeting details, strongly implicating him in the sabotage. While some employees questioned Gu Yanzhi’s methods, others recognized Li Zhicheng's hand in the investigation, identifying Xinbaorui and Simeiqi as the primary beneficiaries of Wenda’s troubles, and urged Li Zhicheng to take charge.
Back at her studio, Lin Qian received a call from the Binhe Road police station, requesting her to assist in an investigation regarding an assault near Wenda's industrial park. At the station, she found Li Zhicheng already present, facing accusations from a group of thugs.
Lin Qian clarified to the police that she had been the victim; the thugs had smashed her car and threatened her with knives after she left Wenda, and Li Zhicheng, whom she still mistakenly believed was Wenda's security manager, had bravely saved her and driven her home. The thugs attempted to discredit her testimony by falsely claiming that Lin Qian and Li Zhicheng knew each other and had been "holding hands."
However, Li Zhicheng exposed one thug's feigned arm injury by prompting him to demonstrate his supposed inability to lift his arm, which the thug readily did without realizing, thereby curing his "shoulder injury." Outside the police station, Lin Qian thanked Li Zhicheng, acknowledging his capability to handle the situation effortlessly even without her help. He formally introduced himself as "Li Zhicheng," a name she recognized from his WeChat contact, which had previously appeared as an anonymous series of dashes.
At another Wenda board meeting, Manager Zhang proposed selling the rejected children's clothing at a low price to small wholesalers to alleviate the company's severe financial strain. He argued that despite a shrinkage issue, the clothes were safe and of better quality than other wholesale items. Other board members expressed strong concerns about the potential reputational damage if the media discovered this plan.
A board member, Director Xue, called for a vote, and the majority approved Manager Zhang's proposal, tasking him with its execution. Gu Yanzhi, having received a discreet text message from Li Zhicheng to remain silent, later expressed his deep concern to Li Zhicheng, fearing that selling the problematic clothes would be catastrophic for Wenda. Li Zhicheng calmly reassured him, stating he had a plan in mind and Gu Yanzhi just needed to await the outcome.
Concurrently, Chen Zheng visited Grace, ostensibly to discuss placing a clarification advertisement for Simeiqi in her H magazine. Grace, however, saw through his pretense, realizing he sought more than just advertising. Chen Zheng openly admitted his concern over Wenda's quality scandal, fearing it would tarnish Simeiqi's reputation by association, and sought Grace's advice on how to "help Wenda." Grace, with a grim assessment, declared Wenda "completely finished," emphasizing the explosive combination of "carcinogenic" and "children's clothing" in the public narrative.
Meanwhile, Lin Mochen, visiting Lin Qian's studio, noticed the fabrics she had received as compensation from Wenda. He shared his insights on the Wenda scandal, reiterating his belief that "all accidents are actually intentional," driven by underlying "conflict of interests." He highlighted how the media cleverly twisted the shrinkage issue into a "carcinogenic" problem, questioning the timing. Lin Mochen asked Lin Qian how she would handle the situation if she were Wenda's owner.
She passionately responded that such a problem wouldn't occur in her company, but if it did, she would rather "burn them all" than let flawed products with her brand's logo enter the market or rot in a warehouse. As Wenda prepared to ship the problematic children's wear, Ning Weikai and Chen Zheng, still intent on undermining the company, alerted reporters to follow the trucks. However, Li Zhicheng, accompanied by his aide Monkey, dramatically intercepted the convoy.
Despite Director Xue’s protest that the decision was collective, Li Zhicheng, representing Chairman Li Zhongming, commanded the trucks to immediately return to the factory. He then invited the trailing media to follow him for a major scoop. Li Zhicheng subsequently held a press conference, clarifying that Wenda's children's apparel had a shrinkage issue, not carcinogenic substances, and that Wenda would never compromise on quality.
To demonstrate their unwavering commitment, he then, with his own hands, set fire to the entire batch of problematic children’s clothing, dramatically burning millions worth of inventory. Lin Qian, watching the news, was filled with admiration for Li Zhicheng's decisive action and "courage," noting how his solution mirrored her own.
Grace, observing Chen Zheng's reaction, remarked that Li Zhicheng’s act was "definitely not acting," as he was burning "real money," causing Chen Zheng to realize that Li Zhicheng had orchestrated this entire "show." In the aftermath, Director Xue, who had initially voted to sell the clothes, approached Li Zhicheng, welcoming him back and admitting his "foolishness" for the previous decision. He acknowledged the significant financial losses Wenda had incurred, stating that someone needed to take responsibility for it.
