Ning Weikai dismissed the idea, stating that the real challenge was Aida, and facing Li Zhicheng, Lin Qian, and Grace as a united team would always be a significant problem. Grace met with Chen Zheng to invite him as a judge for the "My Wardrobe" designer competition, emphasizing the event's need for credibility and his industry expertise.
Chen Zheng, suspicious of her motives, commented that her tone didn't sound like she was asking for help. Grace countered by explaining that his participation would not only promote Simeiqi and rebuild his public image but also offer a substantial payment, hinting at his strained relationship with his father and recent financial cut-offs. Chen Zheng, after feigning disinterest in money, accepted, claiming he was doing Grace a "favor" due to her "sincerity."
Later, Grace's assistant informed her about a late entry from Ning Weikai for the competition. Impressed by his designs, Grace decided to make an exception and submit his name to the parent company. Meanwhile, Ning Weikai discussed the competition rules with Gao Lang, explaining that a non-professional model, ideally a friend, was required. Gao Lang expressed doubt about his ability to walk a catwalk, fearing he'd look like he was collecting protection fees and would hold Ning Weikai back.
Ning Weikai reassured him, promising a makeover, and revealed that since leaving Xinbaorui, he didn't have many friends left. Chen Zheng called Chen Yayi, playfully referring to her as his "older sister creditor," to discuss repaying his debt. He suggested paying "interest" by taking her out for karaoke, but Yayi insisted on the money, reminding him that repaying debts was a universal principle and her compound interest was accumulating.
When they met, Chen Zheng took Yayi for a ride in his car, boasting about its expensive surround sound system. As Yayi leaned back to listen, he attempted to kiss her, but she playfully hit him, thwarting his advance and asking what he was trying to do. Before the competition, Chen Yayi enthusiastically told Lin Qian that she had full faith in her, imagining Lin Qian on a Paris Fashion Week stage.
Later, Li Zhicheng arrived late and apologized to Lin Qian, explaining that Aida business prevented him from accompanying her to the competition. Lin Qian understood and gave him a kiss on the cheek. While she packed, Lin Qian teased him, saying he resembled her father watching her pack for middle school. Li Zhicheng playfully suggested he could take over her father's "job," listing things he could do, and even offered to have her name "glued to his body."
Lin Qian told him to stop dawdling and pack, to which Li Zhicheng threatened to keep hugging her if she didn't. The "My Wardrobe" designer competition began. The host announced strict rules: designers would be confined to the hotel, unable to contact the outside world, and must complete a design within 24 hours. All contestants' phones and laptops were confiscated, a rule Chen Yayi and Jin Yuan found strange.
Gu Yanzhi, trying to attend, was denied entry due to lacking an ID. The judges were introduced, including Chen Zheng and Grace. Grace then revealed the first round's theme: "I." Among the contestants, Ning Weikai and Gao Lang arrived, but a celebrity designer named Hao Ran garnered all the attention, much to Gao Lang's surprise.
Lin Qian and Chen Yayi also observed Hao Ran, with Yayi dismissing him as an "empty shell without soul" due to his rude behavior towards fans. Grace approached Ning Weikai, expressing surprise at his participation given the fierce competition. Ning Weikai, confident, stated he began as a designer and trusted his own abilities. Meanwhile, Jin Yuan visited Lin Qian, playfully asking if she should start calling her "sister-in-law" and declaring it an honor to be Lin Qian's model.
Li Zhicheng, busy with Aida's new storefront locations, sent Lin Qian a message wishing her well, and Lin Qian texted back how much she missed him. As designers began working, Ning Weikai asked Gao Lang to try on a shirt, noticing numerous scars on his body. Gao Lang revealed he used to be a thug, fearing he might die on the street, which led him to dangerous jobs like being a "flesh sandbag" for rich individuals.
Ning Weikai shared his own humble beginnings, recalling washing dishes in London and enduring insults, but emphasizing his perseverance. He inspired Gao Lang, stating that true winners aren't defined by their origin or a grand start, but by their ability to find hope in hopelessness and persist.
Gu Yanzhi bought a variety of snacks for Jin Yuan, but she rejected them at her hotel room door, explaining she needed to maintain her figure for the competition and get her beauty sleep. As Gu Yanzhi left, he found Chen Zheng stealing his abandoned snacks, who then invited him for a drink.
Gu Yanzhi, annoyed by Chen Zheng's "evil influence," questioned his suitability as a judge, to which Chen Zheng retorted that while he may not understand design, he represented public and commercial interests. Chen Zheng then prodded Gu Yanzhi about confessing his feelings to Jin Yuan and offered "dating advice," summarizing his strategy as simply, "Block her and kiss." Inspired by Chen Zheng's "advice," Gu Yanzhi sought out Jin Yuan to confess his feelings.
Jin Yuan, pre-occupied with getting ready for the competition, tried to postpone the conversation. As she rushed to change, Gu Yanzhi stopped her, pulled her close in a "block," declared "I like you," and attempted to kiss her. A stunned Jin Yuan gently pushed his face away, reiterated her need to change for the impending competition, and quickly left, flustered. During the designer showcase, a nervous Gao Lang, now in Ning Weikai's suit, stepped onto the stage.
Ning Weikai encouraged him to simply speak his heart. Ning Weikai's voiceover described the suit as a "projection from his heart," representing passion and introversion, and stated that a suit signified dignity and adaptation to life, with "inlaid patterns of wine-red color" symbolizing the "wounds" that are a man's best commendation.
On stage, Gao Lang, wearing his first-ever suit provided by Ning Weikai, shared his past as a street thug, recounting being expelled from school, getting stabbed, and bearing many scars. He expressed gratitude to Ning Weikai for giving him a chance and helping him conceal his past pains, declaring that he is no longer the person he used to be and now understands the true meaning of friendship.
Chen Zheng, however, interrupted him, stating that the competition was not a forum for reminiscing. Chen Yayi received a WeChat video call from Li Zhicheng, who was trying to reach Lin Qian. Yayi explained that Lin Qian's phone had been confiscated due to competition rules. Li Zhicheng insisted that Yayi find Lin Qian and let them speak, so Gu Yanzhi helped divert the security guards while Yayi rushed the phone to Lin Qian.
Lin Qian apologized for being unreachable, and Li Zhicheng reassured her, promising to arrive at the venue shortly to watch her compete. He told her not to be nervous, to express herself freely, and that winning was not as important as his unwavering support. Lin Qian, overjoyed, confirmed his arrival, and they agreed to meet in five minutes. Just as her segment was announced, Chen Yayi quickly ushered a beaming Lin Qian back onto the stage.
