Our Glamorous Time Episode 2 Recap
> Our Glamorous Time Recap
Chen Zheng and Ning Weikai met secretly at a bar, speculating about Grace's unexpected appearance at the press conference. Grace arrived unexpectedly and subtly brought up Li Zhiqian's death, questioning its true cause. Chen Zheng deliberately avoided the topic. Grace further pressed them, asking if they truly believed his death was an accident, and sarcastically commented that they must be happy to finally breathe a sigh of relief from Wenda's pressure now that Li Zhiqian was gone.
Ning Weikai exchanged a look with Chen Zheng and deflected, claiming she must have misunderstood and that his death was just too sudden for them to accept. Meanwhile, Li Zhicheng observed Wenda's overall declining performance, noting that only a small subsidiary called Aida, which Li Zhiqian highly valued, was showing an upward trend. Li Zhicheng sternly informed Gu Yanzhi that the HCG inspection group would arrive at Wenda tomorrow, and no mistakes could be tolerated.
He also instructed Gu Yanzhi to keep his return to Linhai City a secret, even from his own father and sister, because he had keenly realized that Wenda's true enemy was internal, not external. He intended to investigate discreetly to uncover the truth. In a separate conversation, Li Zhicheng's sister, Li Jinyuan, returned home, attempting to conceal the shareholder meeting's chaos, but her father had already learned from the news that she had smashed the ballot box.
To her surprise, instead of reprimanding her, he praised her actions. Lin Qian hurried back to her studio through heavy rain, where she was met by her brother, Lin Mochen, who had come to pick her up with an umbrella. Back home, her friend Yayi teasingly asked about the handsome man, but Lin Qian playfully turned the question back, asking if Yayi liked him.
Seeing his sister struggle with her startup, Lin Mochen expressed his concern and urged her to return to America at the end of the month for an interview as a designer assistant at a company. Lin Qian refused, insistent on pursuing her entrepreneurial dreams in China, to which Lin Mochen commented that her "startup" was merely providing clothes to customers in second and third-tier cities, which would inevitably affect her designs.
Lin Qian, however, declared her ambition to create a high-end Chinese brand. Li Zhicheng visited the police station and learned that Li Zhiqian's body tested positive for a high alcohol content, and his vehicle showed no signs of tampering. The police initially suspected a traffic accident due to drunk driving. Li Zhicheng, heartbroken, reminisced about his brother, who never drank and was highly disciplined.
He felt a strong premonition that his brother's death was not an accident and earnestly requested the police to investigate further, even after they pointed out the lack of struggle marks on the body and the damaged phone. Lin Qian drove to Wenda to deliver an order to Manager Ding, only to find out he had resigned due to Wenda's poor performance.
A Wenda employee informed her that Wenda never takes small orders and that this batch was a private gig by Ding Fei, advising her to deal with him directly or sue him. Lin Qian tried to call Ding Fei, who admitted he'd quit because "Wenda is a mess" and brusquely dismissed her claims about the faulty fabric, telling her she wasn't the only one with such problems.
Meanwhile, Wenda employees, incited by an unknown party, gathered outside the company to protest. Li Zhicheng, observing from security footage, calmly watched the crowd, intending to identify the instigators. He suddenly spotted Lin Qian and went down to stop her. An indignant Lin Qian confronted Li Zhicheng, accusing Wenda of substituting the fabric for her order.
She explained that she specifically ordered 120-thread count fabric for summer clothes, but Wenda delivered 160-thread count, which, despite being more expensive, was unsuitable as it wrinkles easily and bleeds color when wet. She emphasized that expensive isn't always better; suitability is key, showcasing her expertise in fabrics, which impressed Li Zhicheng.
Realizing Wenda was at fault, Li Zhicheng agreed to compensate her, offering to transfer the 50,000 yuan contract amount via WeChat, or 20,000 yuan if she took the leftover fabric. At that moment, a security guard rushed to announce an emergency on the rooftop. Li Zhicheng and Lin Qian hurried to the scene, finding an old man threatening to jump.
Lin Qian recalled seeing the old man earlier in the elevator, overhearing him talk on the phone about needing "CEO Chen" to guarantee his safety, which she relayed to Li Zhicheng. Li Zhicheng, sensing a setup, immediately instructed Gu Yanzhi to investigate the man's identity. Coincidentally, the HCG inspection group arrived just then, witnessing the chaotic scene. Chen Zheng was indeed the mastermind, aiming to sabotage Wenda's partnership with the HCG inspection group by staging this "good show."
Grace, aware of Ning Weikai's involvement in the Wenda "drama," ironically invited him for coffee to watch his "big show," accusing him of using despicable tactics in their rivalry, a charge he vehemently denied, claiming it was merely normal business competition. On the rooftop, Lin Qian approached the old man, Shen Guoqiang, and kindly tried to persuade him to come down, sharing her own experience of being tricked by Wenda.
Li Zhicheng, noticing the old man's hesitation, seized the opportunity to warn him that the "inferior air cushion" below would not guarantee his safety. Shen Guoqiang wavered, and just then, his wife arrived below, yelling at him for his foolishness and accusing him of trying to get money for gambling. As Shen Guoqiang tried to step back from the ledge, he slipped.
Li Zhicheng, with quick reflexes, grabbed his wrist, while Lin Qian also helped hold his legs, and together, with the aid of arriving security guards, they pulled him to safety. Following the incident, Li Zhicheng and Gu Yanzhi addressed the agitated employees, assuring them that Wenda would fully disburse their severance payments and urging them not to be incited by others. The employees, receiving this assurance, dispersed. Li Zhicheng then asked Gu Yanzhi about Lin Qian's whereabouts.
When he caught up to her, Lin Qian was being attacked by a group of men hired by Chen Zheng as retaliation. Li Zhicheng, displaying formidable combat skills, quickly subdued the assailants, driving them away and rescuing Lin Qian for the second time. He then informed her that Wenda would cover her car repairs and asked her to add him on WeChat to arrange the fabric delivery, fulfilling their earlier agreement.
Back at the office, Gu Yanzhi informed Li Zhicheng that the HCG inspection group had already signed a cooperation agreement with New Baorui. Li Zhicheng then asked about the anonymous text message he received, which had warned him about the worker protest. Gu Yanzhi revealed the number belonged to Grace, the chief editor of H Fashion Corp, who had a close relationship with Li Zhiqian and was a powerful figure in the fashion industry.
Later, Li Zhicheng met Grace by the river. Grace was somber, umbrella in hand, staring at the water. She confirmed sending the warning text and when Li Zhicheng pressed her for her reasons and her relationship with his brother, she recounted how Li Zhiqian had called her on the day of his death to meet for dinner, and she had collapsed upon hearing the news of his drowning after waiting for him for a long time.
