Our Glamorous Time Episode 1 Recap
> Our Glamorous Time Recap
Fashion designer Lin Qian traveled alone to a scenic spot in Yunnan to gather cultural inspiration. She spotted an old, hand-embroidered garment at a street stall and tried to persuade the vendor to sell it. Lin Qian, a fashion design student, explained that she was looking for inspiration from traditional ethnic clothing. The vendor initially claimed the piece was reserved for wholesalers but eventually agreed to sell it for 800 yuan, emphasizing its authenticity as a lost craft.
Seeing that Lin Qian was a young woman traveling alone, the vendor had ill intentions. He lured her to a nearby village, claiming it was home to many elders skilled in such embroidery, while also advising her to be careful. Lin Qian, eager for design inspiration, readily went, but was ambushed and kidnapped on the way by the vendor and his accomplices. One of them mentioned they needed a replacement for another girl who refused to obey.
At the same time, in the mountains of Yunnan, a special forces unit, led by their captain Li Zhicheng, was executing a secret mission to eliminate a criminal organization headed by The Leech. This group was involved in drug trafficking, human trafficking, and arms smuggling along the Southeast Asian borders, posing a severe threat to China's security. This was the team's final mission before leaving the army, so Li Zhicheng stressed it must be flawlessly executed.
His team confirmed the presence of The Leech and successfully cleared a minefield. Li Zhicheng and "Monkey" prepared to infiltrate from a suspension bridge, "Antelope" and a second team from a temple, and "Grizzly Bear" with a third team was tasked with placing bombs. At the criminals' hideout, the vendor prepared to inject Lin Qian. Li Zhicheng acted swiftly, shooting the vendor dead.
As he moved to evacuate the terrified Lin Qian, a large number of criminals arrived, forcing Li Zhicheng to protect her while engaging in a fierce gun battle. Outnumbered, Li Zhicheng and his comrades retreated. They reached a swaying suspension bridge, which Lin Qian, suffering from acrophobia, found terrifying. With no time to spare, Li Zhicheng picked her up and carried her across. However, they were soon caught by pursuing motorcyclists, and both Li Zhicheng and Lin Qian sustained injuries.
The special forces unit then escorted Lin Qian onto a helicopter, where Li Zhicheng provided basic first aid for her wounds, causing her to lose consciousness from the pain. Her rescuers breathed a sigh of relief as she was taken to a military hospital for emergency treatment. Lin Qian regained consciousness in the hospital and received a call from her friend, Chen Yayi.
To avoid worrying her, Lin Qian downplayed her dangerous experience in Yunnan, promising to explain everything upon her return. Chen Yayi expressed her concern about the missed calls and playfully teased Lin Qian about a potential "romance with a military guy" in Yunnan, fantasizing about his tall, muscular physique and how he must have held Lin Qian tightly. Lin Qian dismissed her friend's romantic musings, stating she was merely seeking her "muse" for design inspiration.
Lin Qian then inquired with a nurse about the military personnel who saved her, learning they had already departed and their names could not be disclosed. Disappointed, she discovered Li Zhicheng's camouflage uniform left on a nearby table. Meanwhile, in Linhai City, the unexpected death of Wenda Group's President, Li Zhiqian, who drowned after his car was recovered from Lin Jiang waters, caused significant turmoil. The company's stock plummeted, and a sense of unease spread throughout the group.
Li Jinyuan attended a shareholder meeting on behalf of her father. The shareholders showed her little respect, highlighting Wenda's market share drop from 20% to 8% and the chaotic situation without a leader. They demanded the immediate election of a new executive director with professional experience to manage the company, asserting that Wenda belonged to all shareholders, not just the Li family.
At a new product launch event, Ning Weikai, president of Xinbaorui, one of Linhai City's top three fashion giants, announced new products. However, Chen Zheng, president of Simeiqi, tried to disrupt the event by accusing Xinbaorui of plagiarism and unfair competition. Grace, the chief editor of H Group, intervened, supporting Ning Weikai. She urged the media to remember the importance of the physical clothing industry alongside e-commerce, citing it as a wish of the recently deceased Li Zhiqian.
She then requested a three-minute moment of silence to honor him. Upon learning the devastating news of his brother Li Zhiqian's death, Li Zhicheng, overcome with anger and grief, immediately rushed back to Linhai City. He sped through the streets on his motorcycle. At a crossroads, he briefly saw Lin Qian in her car at a traffic light, but he did not approach her. Li Zhicheng later met with Gu Yanzhi, Wenda's vice president and his friend.
Li Zhicheng abruptly took Gu Yanzhi on a high-speed boat ride on the sea, nearly throwing him overboard. Gu Yanzhi, who was afraid of water, candidly revealed Wenda's critical state: declining performance, Li Zhiqian's unfulfilled vision of transforming the company into a design-focused enterprise due to a lack of skilled designers, and the ongoing power struggles among shareholders. Li Zhicheng then apologized for his aggressive behavior, explaining that he had tested Gu Yanzhi to discern his loyalty.
He stated that in the "battlefield," the most terrifying thing isn't the enemy, but a traitorous comrade. He declared that he now trusted Gu Yanzhi to "have his back" and expressed his hope for their future collaboration. Back at Lin Qian and Chen Yayi's online shop, Qianqian Smile, Chen Yayi noticed Lin Qian was often lost in thought, teasing her about her "military guy" from Yunnan and describing him as a six-foot-tall man with a six-pack.
Chen Yayi lamented that Lin Qian didn't even know his name or what he looked like, suggesting they might never meet again. Lin Qian retorted that she was merely searching for her "muse" and that Chen Yayi was the one lost in romantic fantasies. Chen Yayi then presented a rent increase notice, demanding a year's rent within a month. Lin Qian was worried, as their capital was tied up in a large order from Wenda.
Chen Yayi reassured her that if the batch of party dresses from Wenda was delivered on time, their financial issues would be resolved, and they might even earn some extra money. Later that day, Lin Qian received an angry phone call from a customer, Ms. Wang, who complained that a dress purchased from Qianqian Smile had severely faded, ruining it for an important performance that evening. Ms. Wang threatened to file a complaint.
Lin Qian rushed to the Sunshine Hotel to meet the furious Ms. Wang, apologizing profusely and offering a double refund. Ms. Wang, however, was distraught, explaining that a refund wouldn't solve the problem as her performance was jeopardized, potentially impacting her career. Lin Qian quickly offered another dress from her shop in Ms. Wang's size. However, it didn't fit because the original dress had a tie-back design, and Ms. Wang had intentionally bought a smaller size.
Lin Qian, demonstrating her design skills, took the dress and expertly redesigned it on the spot. Ms. Wang wore Lin Qian's re-designed dress, and her performance was a great success. Meanwhile, discussions about the local fashion industry continued. Grace observed Chen Zheng's strong online marketing skills and his penchant for generating gossip, making him an internet celebrity for Simeiqi.
She also noted Ning Weikai's background, having graduated from a prestigious British university, and his steady leadership that significantly boosted Xinbaorui's sales, earning him a reputation as a model young entrepreneur. She mentioned his ambition to elevate Xinbaorui's brand to high fashion. Grace further revealed that Li Zhicheng had returned, but his mysterious nature and lack of experience in the fashion industry made him seem an easy target.
She, along with Chen Zheng and Ning Weikai, saw Wenda as a vulnerable "delicious piece of cake" to be divided. Ning Weikai suggested creating more trouble for Wenda, while Grace subtly highlighted the surprising alliance between Chen Zheng and Ning Weikai, who appeared to be rivals in public but conspired behind the scenes.
