After the girls left, the third young master felt bored and simply sat in the courtyard drinking heartily, drowning his sorrows in alcohol. But even now, he still couldn’t distinguish each of the girls. The servant who washed the inkstone couldn’t help but say that the girls were not freeloading at the mansion. Every big and small matter inside the mansion was managed by them. Seeing the third young master’s indifferent face, the servant dared to speak his mind.

The third young master brought back one girl, that was one thing, but he had brought back so many. Where did the girls live? How much food costing how many taels of silver did they consume each day? What about their clothes? With more than twenty people in the courtyard and each with a maid, that’s at least over forty people—every detail needed careful budgeting, yet the third young master seemed not to have thought about any of this.

He only cared about his own eating, drinking, and entertainment. Feeling like he had been pricked by needles, the third young master grew angry and shameful, chasing the servant around the courtyard beating him. The sisters each stamped the contract, and the Nine Regions Gourmet Gathering was halfway established. Then everyone began renovating the restaurant and researching the menu. Everyone took their respective roles seriously and were busy, yet each person’s face beamed with satisfaction and joy.

Yin Zheng did not forget to quietly help, reminding Li Wei of the dietary customs of each region. A few days later was the grand opening of the restaurant, but everyone was troubled. Many people heard that the restaurant was run by women and were naturally curious. Yet if the girls appeared, there would inevitably be criticism. However, Shangguan Jing was unfazed. In Danchuan, such things were no big deal: whatever men could do, women could too.

Because of this, Yuan Ying and Shangguan Jing had differing opinions, creating an awkward atmosphere. Fortunately, Li Wei stepped in to mediate, and everyone finally agreed—not to appear on opening day. Yin Zheng told Li Wei that one day he would change Xinchuan’s backward system, allowing women to be themselves with dignity. But he also knew this path was difficult and the court’s affairs ever-changing.

He promised Li Wei that if anything happened to him one day, he would ensure she was safely sent back to Jichuan. Before he could finish, Li Wei said she wanted to stay. Li Wei knew how tough the road was but believed Yin Zheng could accomplish it. Once the restaurant opened, it attracted many guests, and the large restaurant became somewhat crowded. Outside, rumors spread that this was a restaurant run by women.

These guests were likely curious to see for themselves. Yuan Ying, while happy, realized they had to seize the moment of this lively period and find ways to satisfy the customers’ tastes. This would make the restaurant a success. But no one expected the Household Registration Office staff to suddenly visit. Yin An came in aggressively, publicly announcing that someone had reported the restaurant for indecent conduct. The manager hurried forward to respond but was slapped harshly by Yin An.

The girls couldn’t stand it and came downstairs to deal with Yin An together. Haitang did not come down but couldn’t help but speak out against the third young master. Li Wei took the opportunity to remind Yin An that he had no official documentation to support his actions. Yin An’s face turned blue with anger but he was helpless.

Thanks to the girls’ efforts, the restaurant soon returned to normal, and the diners temporarily set aside their prejudices and began enjoying the food. The entire day, the restaurant lost money instead of making any. But Yuan Ying wasn’t worried; she believed the money would soon be recovered. Just then, the fifth young master came urging Shangguan Jing to go home. Seeing their state, the sisters guessed that the fifth young master was courting Shangguan Jing.

That day, the tenth young master came to the restaurant to find a match. Seeing Shangguan Jing wandering there, he couldn’t help but scold her for embarrassing the fifth young master. Hearing this, the fifth young master came from behind and severely beat the tenth young master. Shangguan Jing’s heart suddenly pounded fast, finally believing that the fifth young master was indeed pursuing her.
