After leaving the conference room, Xie Xiaofei instinctively made his way to Tong Wei's office door. He was immediately stopped by Cui Xi, who blocked his path. Just then, Jiang Ke appeared behind Xie Xiaofei, giving him a cold look and telling him to own up to his mistakes. Jiang Ke accused Xie Xiaofei of ruining the project, which had cost their team immense effort.
Xie Xiaofei claimed he would take all the blame, even stating that self-blame wasn't in his vocabulary, but Jiang Ke dismissed his empty promises. Xie Xiaofei, who had recently argued with his father over the phone about the very same negotiation, was in a defiant mood. His father had been furious about the failure and his disruptive behavior, emphasizing the partnership's importance to the company's future, but Xie Xiaofei remained uncooperative.
Despite his previous display of nonchalance, Xie Xiaofei went to President Zhou’s office to speak on Tong Wei’s behalf. He hoped to clear her name by taking full responsibility for the negotiation's failure. However, his well-intentioned intervention only backfired. President Zhou called Tong Wei, who was on vacation, back to the office. After Xie Xiaofei left, President Zhou sternly reprimanded Tong Wei, accusing her of sending someone to plead for her.
Tong Wei vehemently denied this, stating she preferred to win fairly and would never stoop to such tactics. President Zhou grew more irate, interpreting Xie Xiaofei’s unsolicited help as a sign of an inappropriate relationship between a client and a negotiator, reminding Tong Wei of CAEA’s strict policies. Tong Wei, feeling deeply frustrated, insisted she disliked Xie Xiaofei and understood her professional boundaries. Tong Wei stormed out of President Zhou's office, seething with anger.
She saw Xie Xiaofei holding yellow roses, clearly intending to apologize, but Tong Wei's response was cold and dismissive, firmly establishing her distance from him. To vent her frustration, Tong Wei went to a boxing gym, furiously punching the bag and cursing Xie Xiaofei's name. Xia Shanshan tried to console her, suggesting that Xie Xiaofei's attempt to help might indicate he had feelings for her.
Their conversation was interrupted by the arrival of Zhao Chenxi, who entered the gym with none other than Xie Xiaofei. Seeing him, Tong Wei immediately turned and walked away, wanting nothing to do with him. Sensing Tong Wei's distress, Xia Shanshan promptly informed Qin Tianyu, encouraging him to use this opportunity to comfort her.
Later, upon arriving home, Tong Wei immediately noticed the distinct scent of her perfume on her younger sister, Tong Tiantian, who had secretly used Tong Wei's cosmetics and taken photos of them. Shortly after, Qin Tianyu called Tong Wei, offering to take her out to help her relax.
He admitted that Xia Shanshan had told him about her situation and gently advised Tong Wei that, from a long-term perspective, stepping down from the project might actually be beneficial, urging her not to dwell on the setback. After dinner, Qin Tianyu took Tong Wei to a wine bar for a drink. As they were chatting happily, they unexpectedly spotted Xie Xiaofei.
Knowing Tong Wei's discomfort, Qin Tianyu prepared to leave with her, but Zhao Chenxi deliberately called out to them. A visibly intoxicated Xie Xiaofei suddenly grabbed Tong Wei, aggressively demanding to know the nature of her relationship with Qin Tianyu. Tong Wei firmly told him that their work relationship was over and her actions were no longer his concern. However, Xie Xiaofei refused to let go, continuing to press her about her feelings for Qin Tianyu.
Unable to tolerate Xie Xiaofei's harassment, Qin Tianyu stepped in, leading to a physical fight between the two men. Tong Wei quickly intervened, pulling Qin Tianyu away, and they left the bar. Xie Xiaofei remained, enraged and bewildered, unable to understand why Tong Wei hated him so intensely over what he perceived as a minor project.
Zhao Chenxi escorted Xie Xiaofei home and, noticing numerous business books in his room, became convinced that he was far more shrewd than his careless facade suggested, which made her even more intrigued by their negotiation. Meanwhile, Qi Ruhai's company encountered difficulties in its cooperation talks with a technology firm. He enlisted Xia Shanshan's help, relying on her former experience as a negotiator to analyze the issues. Early the next morning, Qi Ruhai and Xia Shanshan attended the negotiation meeting.
During the session, Xia Shanshan astutely observed the opposing party's behavior and discerned that their company was facing significant financial difficulties. She confidently advised Qi Ruhai to aggressively lower his offer, trusting her judgment. Following her advice, Qi Ruhai successfully secured the deal, saving an impressive 100 million yuan. Overjoyed by this triumph, he profusely praised Xia Shanshan and promised to fulfill any request she had.
Xia Shanshan expressed her desire for a heartfelt and intimate wedding, and Qi Ruhai readily agreed, promising to officially register their marriage once the merger was complete. During a meeting between Xie Corporation and CAEA, Xie Xiaofei was distracted. He took a call from Luo Bin and abruptly left the meeting. Luo Bin had arranged for Xie Xiaofei to meet Qi Ruhai. Upon arrival, Qi Ruhai, accompanied by Xia Shanshan, met Xie Xiaofei at a club.
Xia Shanshan overheard Xie Xiaofei speaking ill of Tong Wei and, unable to contain her anger, publicly reprimanded him. Sensing the escalating tension, Qi Ruhai attempted to smooth things over and leave, but Xie Xiaofei stopped them, demanding that Xia Shanshan explain herself. Under pressure, Xia Shanshan revealed the painful truth: Tong Wei's father had been unjustly accused of taking money, leading him to commit suicide, and her mother soon followed.
Xia Shanshan explained that Tong Wei's relentless drive to become a top negotiator was fueled by her ambition to attend the annual meeting at the New York headquarters. Her ultimate goal was to find Cai Tianlan, a key figure from CAEA who was involved in her father's case, hoping to uncover the truth behind her parents' deaths. This quest made every project vitally important to Tong Wei, as she couldn't afford a single mistake.
Xia Shanshan's revelation profoundly impacted Xie Xiaofei, washing over him with waves of guilt and self-reproach. He finally realized the immense and unintentional harm he had inflicted upon Tong Wei. Back at home, Qi Ruhai was still upset, believing Xia Shanshan's strong loyalty to her friendship had sabotaged his chance to collaborate with a major American company. Xia Shanshan explained the depth of her bond with Tong Wei.
Seeing her genuine anger, Qi Ruhai quickly moved to appease her and then expressed his desire for her to take on a more active role in his business, using her capabilities to help them build an even more successful future together.
