During his suspension, he was deeply moved by how Cong Rong stood by him without hesitation. He expressed his desire to hold her hand and grow old together.
Lying in bed, Cong Rong savored Wen Shaoqing’s words and received a sweet goodnight text from him. He said he would take her to work the next day and suggested they meet in seven hours. Seeing it was only eleven o’clock, Cong Rong didn’t even change clothes before heading to knock on his door. Wen Shaoqing opened the door to find her in pink pajamas and jokingly threatened to sue her for harassment.
Embarrassed, Cong Rong said she had insomnia and came for his help. Wen Shaoqing gave her a massage and said he’d do it every day once they got married. Cong Rong woke up to find herself in Wen Shaoqing’s bed and rushed to sneak back to her room. She showed him a love letter written by Xiao Zhang, which made Wen Shaoqing feel a sense of crisis—someone else had written Cong Rong a love letter. Cong Rong said receiving one from someone you like would be incredibly romantic. Wen Shaoqing kept that in mind. She said she wanted to go see a movie and relive what couples do on dates. She immediately went to his place to help him pack, then rushed to the hospital. Worried, she reminded him to stay safe and message her every day. Wen Shaoqing reassured her, and Cong Rong watched as the vehicle drove away.
Wen Rang was startled awake by the tremors and found Zhou Chengcheng missing from the hotel room. He rushed out and found her collecting dew, scaring her. Seeing her adorable expression, Wen Rang said he wanted to take her on a trip. Zhou Chengcheng made him sign on her phone to record it, afraid he’d back out later. Wen Rang couldn’t resist kissing her.
While they were being lovey-dovey, Cong Rong called Zhou Chengcheng and told her that Wen Shaoqing had gone to the earthquake zone to help. When Wen Shaoqing didn’t reply to her WeChat messages, and with the news and texts showing how severe the quake zone was, Cong Rong became increasingly anxious. She prepared her resume and applied to join the frontlines as a volunteer, but the center responded that due to unclear conditions, they had to wait for leadership’s arrangements.
Cong Rong followed the news daily. At the law firm, Lawyer Tang mentioned that the earthquake situation was extremely serious and that a medical team had been injured. Wen Shaoqing’s messages were brief, but each one brought her comfort. Then she received confirmation from the volunteer center that her application had been approved. She immediately asked Shangguan Yi for a week off. Shangguan Yi realized she was doing it for Wen Shaoqing and thought she was being reckless.
Cong Rong said she just wanted to be closer to him. Shangguan Yi approved the leave and hoped they would both return safely. Zhou Chengcheng kept worrying about the situation in the earthquake zone, concerned for Wen Shaoqing on Cong Rong’s behalf. Wen Rang comforted her, saying Wen Shaoqing was a good man and would be fine. Cong Rong called to tell Zhou Chengcheng she was going to the frontlines as a volunteer.
