Cong Rong stormed out of Wen Shaoqing’s house in anger. Zhong Zhen kindly reminded Wen Shaoqing that the thesis competition had started, but Wen Shaoqing kicked him out and threw the scarf gift box from Shangguan at him. Cong Rong felt she had overestimated her place in his life and shouldn’t have taken time off to make soup for him. She immediately canceled her leave with Shangguan, who then invited her out to dinner.
During the meal, Wen Shaoqing kept calling Cong Rong, but out of spite, she refused to answer and even hung up directly. After dinner and finishing work, she noticed Wen Shaoqing still hadn’t sent her any messages, so she deliberately bought two meals, took a photo, and posted it on her Moments. Wen Shaoqing responded by posting a photo of him walking his dog.
Cong Rong just wanted Wen Shaoqing to coax her, so she posted another complaining post on Moments, but accidentally forgot to set privacy restrictions, and everyone saw it. Thankfully, Zhong Zhen called to remind her. Zhong Zhen hoped the two would make up quickly and encouraged Wen Shaoqing to find a way to appease Cong Rong. However, Wen Shaoqing had no experience and didn’t know how to comfort someone.
He asked Zhong Zhen to call Cong Rong and trick her into coming out for a birthday celebration. Cong Rong had a gut feeling that Wen Shaoqing was next to Zhong Zhen. Zhong Zhen glanced at Wen Shaoqing and immediately denied it. Cong Rong bought a birthday cake for Zhong Zhen, who foolishly said it was Wen Shaoqing’s favorite hazelnut flavor. Cong Rong pretended not to hear. While ordering food, Zhong Zhen chose sautéed liver slices, which Cong Rong liked.
Wen Shaoqing snatched the menu and directly ordered ten portions of sautéed liver slices, saying it was good for the eyes and looking directly at Cong Rong, he added it would help brighten her vision. Unwilling to back down, Cong Rong ordered ten spicy heart and lung dishes, saying heartless people needed nourishment. Zhong Zhen felt caught in the middle of their fight, while others nearby watched like bystanders, clueless about what was going on.
When Shangguan called, Cong Rong answered loudly and crisply in front of Wen Shaoqing, then left a card with Zhong Zhen to cover the meal. Later, Wen Shaoqing went to knock on Cong Rong’s door, but no one answered. He had to call Zhong Zhen to find out that Cong Rong had dragged Zhou Chengcheng to stay at a hotel for the night.
Wen Shaoqing called Zhou Chengcheng, intending to apologize to Cong Rong, but the words never came out, leaving Cong Rong excited for nothing. Though Cong Rong had been looking forward to the call, she pretended to be indifferent and impatiently listened. Zhou Chengcheng listened to Cong Rong’s story and concluded that both she and Wen Shaoqing were childish—love makes people irrational. She comforted Cong Rong, saying maybe Wen Shaoqing wasn’t being jealous on purpose.
After all, a man giving a woman a scarf implied he wanted to cling to her. Hearing Zhou Chengcheng’s analysis, Cong Rong felt it made sense and said she would find a time to explain everything to Shangguan and return the scarf. Xiong Jingjing saw that Cong Rong looked troubled and immediately knew she was still upset with Wen Shaoqing. Jingjing offered to give her advice.
Shangguan overheard their conversation, and Jingjing, afraid of leaving a bad impression, took the initiative to explain in his office, also revealing that Cong Rong already had a boyfriend—Wen Shaoqing. Shangguan was furious but suppressed his emotions, merely clenching his fists tightly. When Cong Rong returned home, she stood at the door trying to hear any sounds from Wen Shaoqing, only to run into Wen Rang returning with Letlet.
Wen Rang asked Cong Rong to help take care of Letlet and told her about Wen Shaoqing injuring himself during surgery. Cong Rong became nervous and showed concern, calling Zhong Zhen to ask about Wen Shaoqing’s condition. She was touched when she saw a drawing of her on Wen Shaoqing’s desk. Zhou Chengcheng was organizing an outdoor singles’ night party for a friend and unexpectedly ran into Wen Rang and saw Xiao Jiang.
Wen Rang’s classmates deliberately tried to match him with Xiao Jiang, having them sing and play music together. Zhou Chengcheng watched from the side, thinking of what Wen Rang had said before, feeling heartbroken and tearful. Wen Rang was distracted and kept watching Zhou Chengcheng, but Xiao Jiang called out to him in front of her, saying she wanted to get back together and even tried to kiss him in front of Zhou Chengcheng.
Wen Rang pushed Xiao Jiang away, but Zhou Chengcheng didn’t see it as it was blocked by the fireworks. When Wen Rang looked back at her, Zhou Chengcheng had already gotten herself drunk. He rushed over and held her in his arms.
