In the world of martial arts, the assassination organization Wufeng was growing increasingly powerful, with almost no one daring to oppose them—except for the Gong family. Because of this, Wufeng was plotting to infiltrate the Gong residence, aiming to eliminate them completely. Yun Weishan was one of Wufeng’s pawns, ordered to pose as a bride and enter the Gong residence to carry out an espionage mission.

Han Yasi, who was in charge of training Yun Weishan, undertook the meticulous task of grooming her, knowing that even the slightest mistake in the heavily guarded Gong residence would ruin everything. While training Yun Weishan in the qualities a refined lady should possess, Han Yasi also explained the full situation of the Gong residence. The Gong family resided in the secluded Old Dust Valley, having remained isolated for a century and unbound by the rules of the martial world.

Their relationship with Wufeng was one of deep hostility. The Gong family was divided into four lineages: the Shang lineage, the Jue lineage, the Zhi lineage, and the Yu lineage. These four houses held the family’s power. The Elders' Council did not participate directly in management but would make final decisions in major matters.

Each lineage had clear responsibilities: the Jue lineage handled external affairs, engaged with the martial world, and oversaw business; the Shang lineage specialized in weapons manufacturing; the Zhi lineage was responsible for medicine, poison, and hidden weapons; and the Yu lineage managed internal affairs. The current Sword Wielder came from the Yu lineage. In Wufeng, female assassins were classified into four ranks: Chi, Mei, Wang, and Liang.

Yun Weishan was only at the lowest Chi rank and lacked combat experience, which is why Han Yasi was so dedicated to her training. He warned Yun Weishan not to trust anyone once inside the Gong residence. If she completed this mission, she would be free from Wufeng and could live the life she longed for—an irresistible offer that she accepted with determination.

The bride selection at the Gong residence was organized specifically for the young master, choosing eligible women from reputable martial families. Han Yasi and Yun Weishan picked a relatively unknown family to impersonate and sneak into the selection. Han Yasi made sure Yun Weishan remembered she was from Lixi Town. As she was about to leave, he was reluctant to part with her, hesitating to speak.

In his mind, he recalled the Wufeng leader’s order—to have Han Qi spread the word that one of the brides was a Wufeng assassin. But he couldn’t say it aloud, only urging Yun Weishan to act cautiously. Gong Ziyu, the second son of the current Sword Wielder, appeared to be idle and spent his days in brothels and taverns, overshadowed by the young master.

The Sword Wielder was unable to control him, especially since his mother had passed away early, leaving him more indulgent than strict. In truth, Gong Ziyu was sharp-minded and highly skilled, merely lacking a place to use his talents. Han Qi led his men to a pharmacy that served the Gong residence. The shopkeeper, sensing danger, triggered hidden weapons to fight back but was quickly defeated and knocked out.

Han Qi knew the shopkeeper was faking unconsciousness to avoid harm, so he deliberately spread the news that one of the brides was a Wufeng assassin. This turned the wedding into a deadly trap. The shopkeeper heard everything and, after Han Qi left, quickly tended to his wounds and rushed back to the Gong residence to report. On the way, the shopkeeper ran into Gong Ziyu, who was heading back.

He informed him of the news about the assassin among the brides before passing out. Gong Ziyu immediately ordered the shopkeeper’s rescue and then consulted Jin Fan on whether to inform their father and brother. He was worried that if their father found out, he might eliminate all the brides, resulting in the deaths of many innocent women. After returning to the valley, Gong Ziyu thought it over and decided to tell his elder brother Gong Huanyu first.

To his surprise, their father was also present, so he had to speak the truth. Unexpectedly, their father really intended to kill all the brides. Gong Ziyu tried to dissuade him, but his father’s mind was set, and Gong Ziyu had no choice but to find another way. All the selected brides, dressed in wedding garments, arrived by boat at the Gong residence. They believed it a great fortune to marry into such a powerful family.

But upon arrival, they were seized by guards and thrown into prison. Gong Ziyu, watching from the city wall, felt uneasy. Yun Weishan, however, remained calm. Her training with Wufeng had taught her to survive brutal trials—only those who emerged victorious in deadly contests could live. Now she faced a similar test. Gong Ziyu ultimately decided to let the brides go. Whether or not a Wufeng assassin was among them, most were innocent.

He recalled a secret passage that led out of the valley and, under the guise of drug testing, led the brides to it. But Gong Yuanzheng intercepted them.
