My Dear Guardian Episode 37 Recap
> My Dear Guardian Recap
Pei Yu awoke to Mi Gu’s concern, asking how he had been shot. Pei Yu claimed he was held hostage at gunpoint and only escaped after changing clothes, explaining he didn’t call the police because he feared retaliation. He then insisted he needed a computer for urgent work to contact someone. Mi Gu, worried about his injury, offered to get her laptop from home, urging him not to move around.
Pei Yu jokingly asked if she was worried about troubling him now after "messing with him" earlier. Mi Gu, apologetic, went downstairs with her laptop but was immediately stopped by Rao Feng. Meanwhile, Liang Muze's condition had improved, allowing him to be transferred out of the Intensive Care Unit to the Department of Infectious Diseases. Director Chen summoned Xia Chu to discuss her unauthorized injection of bacteriophages.
Xia Chu admitted to violating hospital regulations and accepted full responsibility, even if it meant losing her medical license and ending her career. She firmly stated she had no regrets, believing that "right is right" regardless of the outcome. Director Chen then posed a hypothetical question: would she have been as determined if the patient hadn't been Liang Muze? Xia Chu expressed regret that Liu Ran was no longer there, wishing she could prove her conviction with her actions.
Director Chen then delivered two pieces of news: firstly, the hospital committee decided to issue a serious demerit and a hospital-wide criticism for her actions. However, he added that Brigade Commander Dong had specifically praised her work, and the department had decided to appoint her as the next Chief Resident.
Despite this, Director Chen sternly reminded Xia Chu that every hospital rule, no matter how minor, was established at the cost of lives and suffering, and that doctors are not heroes. Xia Chu acknowledged her understanding. Later, Xia Chu withdrew from the Chief Resident competition. When Xiao Xiao asked if her decision was due to her, Xia Chu denied it, citing a new career plan.
She thanked Xiao Xiao and admitted her efforts during Liang Muze's rescue "weren't pretty," reflecting on their differing approaches. She stated that while Xiao Xiao’s rationality ensured a smooth journey, her own emotions would take her far, concluding that she could not become Xiao Xiao, nor could Xiao Xiao ever replace her. At the police station, Rao Feng was interrogating Mi Gu. Xia Chu rushed to pick her up.
Rao Feng informed Xia Chu that a large amount of Acinetobacter Baumannii had been detected on the dagger that injured Liang Muze and on his clothes, indicating the infection was not accidental. Xia Chu absorbed this information before taking Mi Gu away. Mi Gu, tearfully recounting how the police questioned her relationship with Pei Yu and his whereabouts, felt she had harmed him by telling the truth.
Xia Chu grew angry, revealing that Pei Yu had held her hostage and used the bacteria as a weapon, emphasizing his cruelty and enjoyment of tormenting others. She explained that Pei Yu used Mi Gu to confirm police movements, ready to abandon her if she didn't return, and that his only concern upon her return would be news from outside.
Overwhelmed, Mi Gu begged Xia Chu to stop, admitting she had considered these possibilities but had been "too stupid" to act. Xia Chu assured her she had made the correct choice. Mi Gu, appearing dazed, returned home. Pei Yu immediately probed whether she had encountered anyone, which Mi Gu denied. She then offered him a bowl of porridge. Seeing only one, Pei Yu casually asked about hers.
Mi Gu lied, claiming the delivery driver had mixed up orders and she would go downstairs later to retrieve her own. After stabilizing Pei Yu, Mi Gu excused herself to get her "other" bowl of porridge. As soon as she left, Rao Feng and SWAT officers secured the entrance. Pei Yu used Mi Gu's laptop to log into "City of Desires" under the ID "Scary Pirate."
Just as he was about to post a message, the drug in the porridge took effect, and his consciousness began to fade. He then realized Mi Gu had deceived him. Rao Feng took Pei Yu to the police station for interrogation. Knowing his escape was impossible, Pei Yu feigned madness, refusing to reveal any information about "Old Master." However, Rao Feng challenged him, urging him to reflect on who had truly been controlling him all along.
Rao Feng then revealed the full truth to Pei Yu. Years ago, before the joint military-police operation to dismantle Pei Yongyan's drug factory, "Old Master" (later identified by Rao Feng as the long-sought fugitive Lu Wen Long) was aggressively interrogating Pei Yongyan about a missing shipment and had brutally killed the real Zhuo Ran. When Liang Muze and his team stormed the premises, "Old Master" took Pei Yongyan hostage.
Pei Yongyan struggled free from "Old Master's" grasp, allowing "Old Master" and his men to retreat. During the ensuing firefight, a mercenary's grenade fell, killing Pei Yongyan. As the team pursued "Old Master," Luo Liang sacrificed himself by shielding Liang Muze from a bullet.
Rao Feng confronted Pei Yu with these events, exposing that he had unknowingly been working for Lu Wen Long, the very man responsible for his father Pei Yongyan’s death and the murder of the real Zhuo Ran. Pei Yu found it nearly impossible to accept this devastating truth and became highly agitated, screaming and demanding to kill Liang Muze. In his recovery, Liang Muze dreamt of Luo Liang.
Luo Liang told him it was his time to leave, urging Liang Muze to release his excessive pride and overwhelming guilt, which had haunted him for eight years. Luo Liang told Liang Muze that his true rival was not him, but his internal struggles. Liang Muze confessed his daily nightmares and guilt, feeling like a sinner when he saw Luo Liang’s family.
Luo Liang encouraged him to find his path, not to disappoint those who loved him, specifically mentioning Xia Chu as both Liang Muze's "soft spot" and his "most impenetrable armor," predicting she would make him braver. Luo Liang reminded Liang Muze that he had taken a bullet for him, hoping Liang Muze would fight like a true soldier, the sharpest knife of Team Thunder. He then saluted Liang Muze and departed. Shortly after, Liang Muze awoke from his coma.
Mu Min was overjoyed to see him finally conscious, weeping with relief. Liang Muze's father then relayed a message from Brigade Commander Dong: the investigation into Xia Guang Yuan had concluded, clearing him of any involvement in the leakage incident, and Liang Muze's "relationship status report" had been approved.
