When Xia Chu protested, he warned that if she didn't resign and return, he would visit her workplace daily and call her superiors.
Overwhelmed, Xia Chu pleaded for more time to sort out her work affairs, begging her father to stop pressuring her. Liang Muze, who had just arrived to pick her up, confirmed he had overheard their entire conversation. Later, as Liang Muze drove Xia Chu home, she confided in him that she wanted to apply for a transfer back to Dong'an.
She explained her profound exhaustion, not just physically but emotionally, particularly disheartened by the fact that Dr. Zhang, despite his brilliant surgical skills, would never stand in an operating theatre again.
