My Dear GuardianĀ Episode 2 Recap
> My Dear GuardianĀ Recap
Xia Chu, frustrated by the prospect of moving, complained to herself about Liang Muze's perceived callousness, even as she resolved to find a new home in Ningjiang District despite her busy schedule as a doctor. Suddenly, Liang Muze appeared, startling her, to request her help for an injured young boy who refused to go to the hospital but needed a doctor.
Though Xia Chu was in the middle of hanging laundry, she agreed, acknowledging that saving lives is a doctor's duty. She inquired about the child's importance to him, and he confirmed the boy was indeed very important. Liang Muze took Xia Chu to the home of Chen Mengzhen, the mother of Luo Xiaojun, who was the son of Liang Muze's deceased comrade, Luo Liang. Liang Muze had been diligently looking after Chen Mengzhen and Luo Xiaojun since Luo Liang's passing.
Luo Xiaojun had injured his forehead by hitting his head against a door in panic after being bullied at school. Xia Chu bandaged his wound, correcting him when he called her "madam doctor" to "sister." Chen Mengzhen, distraught over her son's bullying, was determined to confront those responsible for what happened to her carefully raised child.
Liang Muze tried to reason with her, questioning how long she could continue to protect him this way, but she left regardless, with Liang Muze following, promising Luo Xiaojun he would return shortly. While alone with Xia Chu, Luo Xiaojun asked about her relationship with Liang Muze. Xia Chu explained they had only truly met that day, but Luo Xiaojun asserted that he and Liang Muze had known each other for many years, stating, "He's my father."
Upon Liang Muze's return with Chen Mengzhen, he instructed Luo Xiaojun on self-defense, emphasizing that while he shouldn't bully others, he must fight back if bullied. Xia Chu, noticing Luo Xiaojun's purplish lips, asked if he experienced chest tightness or dizziness, which he denied, claiming his lips had always been that way. Xia Chu spent the entire night guiding Chen Mengzhen. The next morning, Liang Muze drove Xia Chu directly to the hospital.
In the changing room, Xia Chu realized she had forgotten her military uniform and shoes, which were mandatory for military doctors. As rounds with Dr. Zhang Yichi were about to begin, Xia Chu felt desperate. During the rounds, Dr. Zhang criticized a colleague, Xiao Xiao, for wearing perfume that irritated a patient and ordered all non-essential accessories like jewelry to be removed. Xiao Xiao, in retaliation, pointed out that Xia Chu wasn't wearing her military uniform.
When Dr. Zhang confronted Xia Chu, she confidently asserted she was properly attired and, as a professional military doctor, wouldn't make such a mistake. At that moment, Liang Muze appeared, stating he had primarily come to deliver something, subtly implying the uniform, and then to visit Tian Yong, a patient. Inside Tian Yong's private ward, Liang Muze was visiting when Dr. Zhang, Xia Chu, and other resident doctors arrived for rounds.
Dr. Zhang asked Xia Chu to report on Tian Yong's condition, noting the 32-year-old patient had undergone thoracotomy in Isaia for a bullet wound in his left chest, and was now recovering well. Dr. Zhang then tried to introduce Liang Muze to Xia Chu as an officer more severely injured than Tian Yong in Isaia, now a Major. Liang Muze interjected, confirming they already knew each other.
Xia Chu, however, tried to distance herself, stating they only "crossed paths" during a hostage situation in Isaia. Liang Muze casually added they had even met several times after returning to China, despite Xia Chu's continued denials. Dr. Zhang, accepting the situation, concluded the discussion and told Tian Yong to consult Xia Chu for any future medical issues.
After rounds, Xia Chu confronted Liang Muze, upset that his casual remarks would lead to trouble and rumors for her, specifically that she got the chance to go abroad because of him. Liang Muze countered that he had only spoken the truth, calling her a "pretty little fool" for being unable to handle gossip.
He declared his preference for simplicity and directness, asserting there was no honor in knowing her and no reason to lie about it, suggesting she could continue to "act" if she wished, but he wouldn't play along. Frustrated, Xia Chu questioned his "Special Forces" persona, mockingly calling him talkative and suggesting he'd be stifled on a silent ambush mission. Liang Muze simply told her to take all her belongings when she moved out.
Later, Liang Muze vented to Tian Yong about Xia Chu calling him a "pretty little fool" and pretending not to know him, boasting about his military accomplishments. Tian Yong, communicating in Morse code, listened as Liang Muze mused about alternative communication methods and the concept of being captured. Tian Yong then revealed he had joined the military for "survival" after growing up in an orphanage, not for ideals.
Liang Muze argued that after so many years, ideals transcend mere survival, offering Tian Yong the bullet removed from his chest as a "souvenir" and a reminder. Meanwhile, Xia Chu confided in Dr. Zhang Yichi, expressing her distress over the spreading gossip. Dr. Zhang, having anticipated this, explained that as the first resident to participate in a foreign aid medical project and perform surgery, she was bound to face such talk from jealous colleagues.
He advised her to "learn to handle them" and remember that "to wear the crown is to bear its weight." He urged her to work diligently to make her detractors despair, promising they would eventually stop.
He revealed he had also experienced similar challenges, demonstrating his own rigorous candle-lit stitching practice, which he said was a daily ritual to honor patients who didn't survive surgery, reminding him to never slack, and emphasizing that "nothing is more important than a person's life and death."
In Southeast Asia, at the T4 Headquarters, the Master was informed by his operative that their mission to secure human organs had failed due to the intervention of elite special forces from Hunter Military School. He angrily demanded a higher price from his client for finding new organs, citing the increased international scrutiny on the organ provider from Country A.
When the client refused, the Master revealed that the client's younger brother, Gui, had offered an irresistible sum for his life. The Master then ordered his men to execute the client, instructing them to inform Gui that the job was done and to invite him to negotiate terms for future supply and market sharing. Afterward, the Master summoned his "greatest asset," Zhuo Ran, who had not been to China in eight years and twenty-seven days.
The Master assigned him a mission in China: to retrieve the formula for a new medical sedative developed by Dong'an University and its person-in-charge, Xia Guang Yuan. He then revealed that Xia Guang Yuan's daughter, Xia Chu, might be more familiar to Zhuo Ran. Zhuo Ran acknowledged the mission, but his request to bring his recuperating mother was denied, though the Master promised a reunion after the task was completed.
Concurrently, domestic police identified a dark web platform called "City of Desires" as a hub for numerous drug trafficking cases. Their technical team infiltrated the system, identifying the mastermind's account as "Dreadful Pirate." They learned that "Dreadful Pirate" had recently mourned several deceased T4 mercenaries and launched a "suicide mission game," luring netizens with high rewards to commit crimes, causing severe ramifications.
A special task force was formed, led by Chief of Criminal Investigation Detachment Unit Rao Feng, collaborating with various departments to locate "Dreadful Pirate." Intelligence indicated "Dreadful Pirate" was hiding near the border and possibly linked to the mercenary organization T4. Police requested military assistance for the arrest. Liang Muze, present at the briefing, confirmed his "Thunder Commando" unit would assist once approved, assuring Rao Feng he would get to the bottom of the case, regardless of the mastermind.
That evening, Xia Chu's friend Mi Gu called, sympathizing with Xia Chu's challenging residency life and her forced move. Mi Gu generously offered Xia Chu half of her own room, a gesture that deeply touched Xia Chu, who then encouraged herself to find a new place.
Shortly after, Chen Mengzhen called Xia Chu, explaining that Luo Xiaojun had been complaining of chest tightness and had fainted at school that afternoon, worrying it might be a repercussion from his previous head injury. Due to broken equipment at a local hospital, he hadn't been able to get an X-ray. Xia Chu advised her to observe him and bring him to her hospital the next morning for a check-up.
Simultaneously, Liang Muze led the Thunder Commando unit with the police for the arrest mission at the border. Upon reaching the location, they discovered they had been tricked by a holographic projection. Liang Muze acknowledged the opponent's malicious intent and warned Rao Feng to proceed with caution in subsequent actions.
