> My Dear GuardianĀ  Recap

Following eight years of medical study, Xia Chu began her residency in Isaia, joining a joint medical team from the Southeast War Zone General Hospital. During her day off, she visited a local restaurant and encountered Liang Muze, captain of the Southeast War Zone Special Forces, who had just completed training at the Hunter Military School. Liang Muze and his teammates were engaged in a breath-holding competition.

After a prolonged breath-hold, Liang Muze accidentally spilled water on Xia Chu, soaking her clothes and food. Xia Chu confronted him, finding his initial apology then subsequent dismissal of her complaints as "hypocritical" to be very rude. Their tense standoff was cut short when Liang Muze received an urgent mission call, prompting him and his team to swiftly depart.

Simultaneously, Xia Chu received a call from Dr Zhang, informing her of a terrorist attack on Reman Bridge, with many casualties heading to the hospital, requiring her immediate return. Upon arriving at the hospital, Xia Chu became suspicious when she saw four tattooed men, disguised in lab coats, attempting to move a patient. She questioned their actions and tried to call for verification. Just then, police arrived.

The disguised terrorists, realizing they were exposed, drew their weapons, engaging in a firefight with the authorities. Other terrorists quickly took control of the hospital. Meanwhile, Liang Muze’s mission was altered; their primary objective was to proceed to Isaia Hospital and, in coordination with local police, rescue the hostages within fifteen minutes, as intelligence suggested the Reman Bridge attack was merely a diversion by the T4 group.

Inside the hospital, Dr Zhang informed Liang Muze that a Chinese resident doctor, Xia Chu, was among the hostages, and there were over ten terrorists, some in lab coats. The terrorists were extremely dangerous, threatening to kill a hostage every five minutes, forcing authorities to temporarily agree to their demands. During the hostage crisis, one of the terrorists was shot. Their leader ordered a doctor to attend to him.

When the doctor accidentally caused the wounded man more pain, the leader became enraged and threatened to kill him. Xia Chu bravely stepped forward, announcing herself as a doctor and offering to treat the injured terrorist, pleading for no more bloodshed. She quickly assessed his injuries, requested morphine and necessary medical supplies, and efficiently stopped the bleeding, gaining the leader's grudging approval. She reiterated that doctors never harm their patients.

Simultaneously, Liang Muze and his team infiltrated the hospital, planting explosives in a second-floor room for a surprise assault. A sudden explosion signaled the special forces' raid from above, initiating a fierce exchange of gunfire with the terrorists. During the chaotic fight, Xia Chu saw a terrorist raising his gun to shoot. Acting instinctively, she rushed forward, knocking him aside.

Another terrorist immediately aimed his gun at Xia Chu, but Liang Muze’s teammate, Tian Yong, heroically shielded her, taking the bullet. Once the terrorists were subdued, Liang Muze urgently called for a doctor. Xia Chu, initially stunned, quickly recovered and identified herself. She promptly examined Tian Yong’s severe chest wound, noting heavy bleeding and a likely embedded bullet. Alongside Dr Zhang, she rushed Tian Yong to surgery.

During the emergency operation, under Dr Zhang’s guidance, Xia Chu performed pericardiocentesis and other critical procedures. Although her hand hurt, she assisted with intubation and drawing blood from the pericardial cavity, re-infusing it back into Tian Yong. They discovered the bullet had grazed the pericardium and embedded in the myocardium, mercifully not penetrating the heart, which had bought them precious time. After a successful and faster-than-expected surgery, Tian Yong was stabilized and, after observation, was moved to the ICU.

Dr Zhang informed Liang Muze of Tian Yong's stable condition, advising his transfer back to China for continued care due to the limited local facilities. Later that evening, Xia Chu sought out Liang Muze to discuss Tian Yong’s condition, only to be met with his harsh criticism.

Liang Muze accused her of unprofessional conduct, stating Tian Yong’s injury was a direct result of her "crazy action" and questioning her decision to treat the terrorist, asserting that an enemy on the battlefield should always be treated as such.

Xia Chu vehemently defended her actions, explaining that her immediate instinct was to prevent further casualties and that, as a professional doctor and soldier who adheres to the Hippocratic Oath and Geneva Conventions, her duty was to save any life in mortal danger, regardless of their identity, unless explicitly ordered otherwise. She asserted that the hospital was also her battlefield, and she had done her best to help.

Liang Muze remained unconvinced, dismissing her professionalism and declaring her unqualified as both a soldier and a doctor. Infuriated by his slander, Xia Chu demanded an apology and confronted him. In response, Liang Muze roughly removed her jacket, tied her to a pillar, and left, prompting Xia Chu to furiously vow to file a complaint against him.

One week later, back in China, Liang Muze faced disciplinary action from his superior, Brigade Commander Dong, regarding Xia Chu’s complaint and his performance at the Hunter Military School. Dong, aware of the rumors circulating the war zone about Liang Muze tying up a doctor, ordered him to reflect on his actions and complete 500 push-ups before returning home, after ensuring Tian Yong’s hospitalization matters were settled.

After leaving the military base, Liang Muze went to a restaurant, only to find Xia Chu already seated, leaving no other available tables. They reluctantly agreed to share. Xia Chu remarked that Liang Muze seemed upset about his disciplinary action. While eating, a nearby diner began choking on beef. Xia Chu and Liang Muze, despite their ongoing animosity, put their differences aside to perform a synchronized maneuver, successfully dislodging the food and saving the man.

After their meal, Xia Chu found a stray kitten outside the restaurant and, feeling pity, decided to take it home. Upon arriving at her temporary residence, she was surprised to find the door unlocked and, upon entering, discovered Liang Muze inside. He calmly informed her that it was his house. Xia Chu then realized that Liang Muze was the son of Mu Min, the very aunt who had lent her the seemingly vacant house.

It became clear that both their mothers were attempting to subtly set them up. Forced to cohabitate, Liang Muze laid down several ground rules, which included strict conditions about the cat Xia Chu had brought home. His final, most significant rule, delivered with an air of satisfaction, was that Xia Chu must move out within one week. Xia Chu, exasperated, offered to pay rent, but Liang Muze dismissively stated he didn't need the money. Xia Chu, frustrated, sarcastically offered to help him find a moving company.
