In the process, he was gradually attracted to the naive and kind-hearted Nan Xing, and Nan Xing also discovered his loveliness beyond the “villain” in her day-to-day life with Xiao Wudi, and they were thus bound together.

Mr. Bad Recap

Episode 1 Recap

Nan Xing, who is passionate about writing novels and also quite a lovestruck narcissist, is walking home alone when she encounters a stranger trying to strike up a conversation. The man wants to go with Nan Xing to a book signing event but ends up witnessing her brave act of justice, which scares him off in a hurry. Nan Xing sends a thief to the police station and continues back to school to practice discus throwing.

She tells her friend that she’s going to interview at Lu Zichen’s company, hoping to become his assistant. After losing her father and younger brother, Nan Xing now lives with her mother. She's always been devoted to writing novels and often imagines herself as the female protagonist, marrying her idol Lu Zichen. Viewers who read the preview of Nan Xing’s novel question the plot, thinking she’s just obsessed with the male lead and that the storyline lacks twists and turns.

Determined to improve the story, Nan Xing decides to introduce a new character—a handsome and extraordinarily intelligent and strong martial arts villain, Xiao Wudi. Nan Xing’s mother approves of Xiao Wudi’s character in the novel, as he seems more charismatic. Nan Xing disagrees and runs to Xianzi Spring to make a wish. After being provoked by a nearby couple, she wishes for a love that would be unforgettable and soul-stirring.

At that moment, a fortune-telling young immortal by the spring grants her wish. As she makes her wish, the coin necklace around Nan Xing’s neck falls into the spring. Instinctively grabbing the coin, Nan Xing ends up saving a handsome man from the water—none other than Xiao Wudi. Nan Xing thinks she’s dreaming, but it turns out to be real. When Xiao Wudi wakes up, he finds himself in Nan Xing’s arms and is confused about why he’s here.

Nan Xing pushes him away and wants to go home quickly, assuming he’s just some guy with a costume obsession wandering around at night. Xiao Wudi is puzzled—he was supposed to be in the Ming Dynasty and has no idea how he ended up here. After shaking off Nan Xing, Xiao Wudi walks alone through the streets, drawing attention from women who admire his traditional outfit.

Xiao Wudi pretends to play along, though he doesn’t understand much about the modern world. To avoid revealing his identity, Xiao Wudi sneaks into a library at night and devours history books, discovering that he has traveled 500 years into the future. Yet he still doesn’t know why he’s here—only that he constantly senses Nan Xing’s call. Nan Xing goes to interview at Lu Zichen’s company but doesn’t perform well.

When asked about her strengths, she admits she has no work experience—only determination. When she sees Lu Zichen enter the room, she’s left speechless. Ye Qing, Lu Zichen’s long-time partner, receives public thanks from him in front of the media. Knowing she won't be selected, Nan Xing quietly leaves. On her way out, she gets her high heel stuck in the ground. People pass by without helping; a nearby couple even laughs at her.

Feeling extremely embarrassed, Nan Xing cries for help from the bottom of her heart. Xiao Wudi hears Nan Xing’s call and instantly appears before her. Coincidentally, someone is handing out roses—Xiao Wudi grabs one and gives it to Nan Xing, helping her out of the situation.

Episode 2 Recap

Nan Xing is stunned. Xiao Wudi, upon learning her name, feels that she might hold the answer to how he arrived in this era. Remembering what happened the previous night, Nan Xing tries to stay tough. She asks for help from the bystanders, but no one steps up. Xiao Wudi uses a spell to get her out of trouble. Xiao Wudi keeps following Nan Xing. He admits he’s from ancient times and asks how she summoned him.

Nan Xing finds it unbelievable that Xiao Wudi can hear her inner voice. She realizes this is Xiao Wudi—the fearsome villain from her novel—and is so frightened that she rushes onto a bus. She hurriedly returns to Xianzi Spring, trying to figure out the whole situation. Xiao Wudi appears beside her in a flash and demands that she send him back, guessing she must have triggered something that brought him here.

Nan Xing reflects and remembers she wished for unforgettable love. Xiao Wudi learns that she met him in a dream and tells her to throw the coin into the spring to send him back. However, nothing happens. He then tells her to lie down and dream again. In her dream, she meets the fortune teller, who calls himself Zhen Xianzi and admits that Xiao Wudi was created for Nan Xing.

Furious, she demands that Zhen Xianzi take Xiao Wudi back—she doesn’t want a villain boyfriend. Zhen Xianzi advises her to cherish Xiao Wudi and sends her back to reality. When Nan Xing wakes up, the dream feels so real that she rushes home in fear. Her mother, who’s about to go on a performance tour with her dance troupe, asks if she wants to come along. Nan Xing, still shaken, says she’d rather stay home.

Tossing and turning in bed, she thinks if she deletes her novel post, Xiao Wudi will disappear. After a sleepless night, Nan Xing wakes up on the floor and sees Xiao Wudi sleeping on her bed. She tries to escape, but he stops her, warning that as long as she keeps his secret, he won’t cause trouble. Nan Xing pretends to agree, but Xiao Wudi pushes further, insisting on staying at her place.

Not wanting her mother to find out, Nan Xing quietly settles Xiao Wudi in and orders a lot of takeout for him. At Lu Zichen’s company, a meeting is held to address public opinion issues. Lu Zichen doesn’t care, saying the purpose of starting the company was to create opportunities for young people—not to please investors. Ye Qing asks her assistant Hu Jiaojiao for a copy of Nan Xing’s resume.

Meanwhile, Nan Xing feels awful—not only is she unemployed, but now she has to support Xiao Wudi too. Her wallet is crying. Xiao Wudi quickly adapts to modern life, enjoys bubble baths, and bullies Nan Xing into getting him a set of men’s clothes. Nan Xing finds a random outfit, but Xiao Wudi ends up looking like a schoolboy. He plans to go shopping, but Nan Xing is summoned by the police to identify a suspect.

She warns him to stay home. Xiao Wudi watches Nan Xing leave and immediately goes on a shopping spree, somehow having cash on hand. At first, the store clerk is unwilling to serve him, but when Xiao Wudi demands everything be packed, the clerk quickly changes attitude. Meanwhile, the police warn Nan Xing that a recent string of robberies was committed by the same group and remind her to stay safe.

On her way home, Nan Xing is lost in thought about Xiao Wudi and doesn’t notice someone tailing her. Just then, she gets a call from X Culture telling her she’s been hired. Overjoyed, Nan Xing is caught off guard when the stalker surrounds and traps her in an alley. Unable to fight back, she curls up in fear as a fire suddenly breaks out in a pile of trash nearby, screaming for help.

Episode 3 Recap

Just as Nan Xing is about to give up hope, she sees a figure in the distance—Xiao Wudi appears and takes down the assailants. As police sirens wail, Xiao Wudi looks at Nan Xing and immediately vanishes from the scene. Lu Zichen prepares a birthday gift for Ye Qing but unexpectedly sees her at a restaurant with her boyfriend, Song Jiaming. Lu Zichen looks disappointed as he watches Song Jiaming put a necklace on Ye Qing.

He leaves the restaurant in silence. At the police station, Nan Xing gives her statement but intentionally leaves out Xiao Wudi’s identity. The police promise to help her find the man who saved her. Nan Xing is both helpless and curious about how Xiao Wudi managed to appear again. When she returns home, she finds Xiao Wudi already inside. A bag of cash on the floor shocks her—she thinks Xiao Wudi robbed a bank.

It turns out he only sold his jade pendant. Xiao Wudi explains that since he has no legal identity in this era, he’s keeping a low profile to avoid police attention. Nan Xing thanks Xiao Wudi for saving her, and he says he showed up because he heard her inner call again. Nan Xing thinks Xiao Wudi is just using this as an excuse to do whatever he wants.

Xiao Wudi sees through her thoughts and warns her not to create more trouble for him. Nan Xing helps Xiao Wudi find a new place to live—right across from her home—and begs him not to appear randomly, especially in front of her mother. Xiao Wudi makes a condition: Nan Xing must get him a smartphone so he can study how to return to his own time. Nan Xing is surprised by his intelligence, realizing he has a photographic memory.

Xiao Wudi notices Nan Xing is afraid of fire and asks why. Nan Xing explains that she experienced a fire in middle school that left her traumatized—modern doctors can’t help her, so she just avoids open flames. Nan Xing video chats with her mom, who is happy for her. Xiao Wudi receives his new phone but finds the case too cutesy and rips it off in frustration.

As Nan Xing prepares for work, she remembers Xiao Wudi hasn’t had breakfast and barges into his room, only to be thrown out. At X Culture, Nan Xing meets her colleague Jiaojiao, who shows her around the office. Ye Qing has a private chat with Nan Xing, encouraging her to do well as the CEO’s assistant and saying she believes Nan Xing can do better than she did.

Nan Xing learns that although Lu Zichen is kind, he fires assistants who don’t meet his expectations. She starts to feel the pressure. While everyone else is busy, Nan Xing spends the whole day idle. A new colleague greets her but actually wants help moving books due to her strength. Oblivious, Nan Xing agrees and then tries to call Xiong Sisi to celebrate, but Sisi is unavailable. Nan Xing ends up dining alone, ordering a table full of food.

Watching a couple being sweet nearby, she thinks how nice it would be if someone could help wipe her mouth—unexpectedly summoning Xiao Wudi to the restaurant. Xiao Wudi is speechless—just because she wanted someone to wipe her mouth? He tries to leave, but for some reason, he can’t move. It’s as if someone is chanting a spell, binding him in place. Xiao Wudi is forced to walk over and wipe Nan Xing’s mouth before he can move freely again.

Xiao Wudi quickly leaves and takes a taxi home, thinking deeply about the rules of being summoned. Meanwhile, Nan Xing rides the bus, still thinking about Xiao Wudi, and unknowingly summons him again. With no choice, Xiao Wudi sits down to keep her company.

Episode 4 Recap

The two of them return to Fairy Spring again. Xiao Wudi analyzes the pattern of the recent summons and concludes that the crucial factor isn't Nan Xing's state at the time, but that she needs a perfect boyfriend. Nan Xing grows nervous and is forced to reveal her wish. Xiao Wudi becomes angry, accusing her of speaking recklessly, which caused him to be stuck in the modern world and unable to return.

Nan Xing doesn’t understand—she hasn’t competed or fought for anything, so why is she unworthy of love? Xiao Wudi, furious, says that with his personality, he would never help her with romantic matters. But when he sees the modern survival guide Nan Xing made for him, he feels a touch of emotion. Nan Xing drinks alone in silence. Suddenly, a heavy rain starts, and Xiao Wudi appears before her holding an umbrella.

Nan Xing thinks Xiao Wudi has come to mock her again, so she pretends to be strong and insists on going home by herself. Xiao Wudi stands in her way and says he’ll give her a love so unforgettable it will be etched in her bones. Nan Xing thinks Xiao Wudi wants to fall in love with her, but quickly realizes she overthought it.

Xiao Wudi means he’ll help her find a boyfriend—this way, he can complete his mission and perhaps return home sooner. Nan Xing feels embarrassed and deliberately claims that she isn’t lacking in suitors. The two banter and prepare to go home, only to run into Nan Xing’s mother at the door. On a whim, Nan Xing introduces Xiao Wudi to her mom as Sisi’s cousin. Her mother cooks a large meal and invites Xiao Wudi to eat at their home.

Nan Xing’s mother is very fond of Xiao Wudi and asks about his background and work. Xiao Wudi says he helps others solve love problems, and Nan Xing’s mom interprets this as being a dating consultant. After Xiao Wudi leaves, she encourages Nan Xing to seize the opportunity, believing she’s interested in Xiao Wudi—otherwise, why would she rent the apartment across from theirs to him?

Xiao Wudi agrees with Nan Xing to go to her school to find a romantic substitute. Seeing her situation, he feels even more certain he won’t be able to return. Sisi comes to flirt with Xiao Wudi and reveals that Nan Xing has never dated. Xiao Wudi is visibly disgusted and further convinced of his idea. He realizes that finding a match for Nan Xing is nearly impossible.

Nan Xing doesn’t want to keep Xiao Wudi and tells him to do his best to find a solution—she won’t let him stay. Xiao Wudi thinks she’s hopeless and decides to handle things himself. Nan Xing arrives at the office early and enthusiastically prepares flowers for everyone, trying to make a good impression. But her colleagues don’t think highly of her, believing Lu Zichen will definitely fire her.

Lu Zichen arrives at the office and runs into the clumsy Nan Xing. As soon as Nan Xing sees him, she’s tongue-tied. Lu Zichen questions Ye Qing and makes it clear he doesn’t like assistants like Nan Xing. Ye Qing says that if Nan Xing doesn’t improve within a week, she’ll fire her. Lu Zichen asks about Ye Qing’s boyfriend and learns they met playing golf. Nan Xing feels awkward about earlier and tries to initiate conversation.

But when Lu Zichen appears, everything she says makes her want to disappear. After a whole day in the office, Nan Xing grows anxious—she accidentally bumped into Lu Zichen and is afraid she’ll be fired. Her colleagues pretend to comfort her, saying even staying one more day is a success. Xiao Wudi thinks about Nan Xing’s style and decides she needs a major makeover.

Nan Xing brings him breakfast at work and tries to sneak a look at his phone, but Xiao Wudi stops her. When Nan Xing gets to the office, she overhears coworkers talking about how she hit the boss yesterday. She panics and asks Jiaojiao to assign her some work. Jiaojiao sends her to the warehouse to move boxes. Seeing how messy it is, Nan Xing can’t help but organize everything. Jiaojiao praises her, and just then, Xiao Wudi arrives at the company.

Episode 5 Recap

Jiaojiao compliments both Nan Xing and Xiao Wudi, surprised to have such a handsome neighbor. Xiao Wudi pretends to take Nan Xing out for a meal, but he actually plans to give her a makeover. Nan Xing changes clothes but feels completely uncomfortable. Xiao Wudi still finds something missing and has her change her hairstyle. He even takes her to go on blind dates.

After the makeover, Nan Xing becomes very popular on dating apps, but she only wants to go home. Xiao Wudi threatens her: if she refuses to go on dates, he’ll tell her mother the truth about his identity. Nan Xing has no choice but to grit her teeth and go on the blind dates, but every suitor is disappointing. After several interviews, she desperately wants to leave.

Just then, Ye Qing sends her to Lu Zichen’s house to pick up a manuscript. Xiao Wudi fails to stop her. Nan Xing arrives at Lu Zichen’s home and uses the password Ye Qing gave her to enter. She calls out but gets no response. She heads upstairs to find him and is startled by the eerie writing atmosphere.

Just as she’s about to leave with the manuscript, she notices someone in the bathroom—Lu Zichen is lying motionless in the bathtub. She instinctively cries for help and ends up summoning Xiao Wudi. Xiao Wudi assesses the situation and realizes Lu Zichen is simply exhausted and fell asleep in the tub. The red stains on his body are just from rose bath salts.

Xiao Wudi gives him a few acupuncture jabs, and Lu Zichen wakes up, saying his qi and blood were overworked. Nan Xing gets nervous and her legs go numb. She can only yell at Lu Zichen from a distance. Xiao Wudi thinks she’s acting weird and suspects she likes Lu Zichen. Nan Xing denies it and says she’s just one of Lu Zichen’s readers. She then flirts with Xiao Wudi on purpose.

Xiao Wudi’s heart races—he seems to be drawn to Nan Xing but doubts his feelings. On the way home, Xiao Wudi is silent. Nan Xing assumes she frightened him. Xiao Wudi wants to read Lu Zichen’s work and plans to give Nan Xing a new strategy, promising not to take her on any more blind dates. Nan Xing’s mother wants to match them up, thinking they have a romantic connection.

Nan Xing tries to return the clothes from the makeover, but Xiao Wudi calls her into the room. Based on Lu Zichen’s writing, Xiao Wudi deduces that his ideal woman is like the female lead Su Yu, who coincidentally resembles Ye Qing. Xiao Wudi believes that someone like Su Yu—a woman with high IQ and EQ—has nothing in common with Nan Xing. But he can help her disguise and transform herself.

Nan Xing finds this unbelievable and quickly leaves to go shopping with Sisi. Sisi comforts her, saying even if work isn’t going well, maybe she’ll find love. Though Nan Xing isn’t liked by her boss, she might have better luck elsewhere. Nan Xing’s mom brings food to Xiao Wudi. She says he reminds her of her son. It turns out she used to live with her son across from Nan Xing and her father.

They often visited each other, but before a relationship could develop, a fire broke out. She lost her son, and Nan Xing lost her father. Since then, she’s treated Nan Xing like her own daughter. Xiao Wudi realizes the house he’s living in once belonged to Nan Xing and her father—it holds deep meaning, and he can’t sleep that night.

Nan Xing gives the money from returning the clothes back to Xiao Wudi and stands at the door with mixed emotions. Xiao Wudi thinks Nan Xing likes him. She deliberately claims she already likes someone else to prevent him from helping her chase Lu Zichen. Xiao Wudi confesses and says he wants to date her.

Episode 6 Recap

Nan Xing is speechless, thinking Xiao Wudi is being self-indulgent. Xiao Wudi assumes she’s just too shy to admit it and says he’ll date her and then dump her hard—give her a love she’ll never forget. Nan Xing finds it hilarious and makes him repeat it, then takes out her phone to record a video. Xiao Wudi starts doubting himself—how could Nan Xing not like him? Xiao Wudi can't sleep all night.

He just can’t believe Nan Xing doesn't like him—he needs to confirm it himself. Nan Xing dreams while calling his name, but Xiao Wudi doesn’t hear the second half. Although she says his name, she actually tells him to take his stinky money and hurry back to ancient times. Xiao Wudi thinks Nan Xing is just playing coy and asks Sisi about her. Sisi, tempted by Xiao Wudi’s fried chicken drumstick, blurts out the kind of person Nan Xing likes.

Xiao Wudi learns that while Nan Xing does swoon over handsome guys, she’s never truly liked anyone—unless it’s someone she can emotionally resonate with. Lu Zichen kills off the heroine Su Yu in his novel, causing a viral uproar online. Many fans turn on him. Ye Qing is frustrated and scrambles to do PR. Song Jiaming wants to meet Ye Qing, but she has no time. She thinks Lu Zichen is mad at her but can’t find him.

Nan Xing can’t understand why Lu Zichen would kill off the heroine and desperately wants to help the company solve the issue. Xiao Wudi tries to figure out her feelings and pretends to confide in her about his background to see if she cares. Unfortunately, Nan Xing says she’s sad—but not because of Xiao Wudi. She says she’s heartbroken that the character Su Yu, whom she’s loved for years, was killed.

That character accompanied her through adolescence, and she just can’t accept it. Fans protest at the company, demanding Lu Zichen bring back their goddess Su Yu. Nan Xing accidentally overhears a fight between Ye Qing and Lu Zichen over the matter. Lu Zichen doesn’t want Ye Qing dating anyone, and Ye Qing is upset he made the decision without consulting her. Lu Zichen catches Nan Xing listening.

She tries to deliver a package and leave, but finds a dead pigeon soaked in blood inside—a threat from a reader. Lu Zichen tells her to throw it away and not tell anyone. Nan Xing insists on reporting it, saying it’s dangerous. During the argument, she completely forgets her stammer and only remembers afterward that she talked back to Lu Zichen. Determined to catch the suspect who sent the package, Nan Xing asks Xiao Wudi for help.

She believes, based on the plot of the novel, the perpetrator will return that night. Lu Zichen thinks she’s just trying to impress him and secure her position. Nan Xing admits that after her family’s accident, she hit rock bottom emotionally and was saved by Lu Zichen’s novels. That’s why she wants to do this job well. The culprit really does show up. Xiao Wudi chases him. Nan Xing follows and finds Xiao Wudi covered in blood, thinking he’s dying.

Just as she breaks down crying, Xiao Wudi wakes up—it was all a prank. Nan Xing is furious. She had cried so hard. Xiao Wudi apologizes and thanks her, saying it was just a joke. Nan Xing makes him promise never to joke like that again. Ye Qing hears about Nan Xing’s bravery and scolds Lu Zichen for being reckless, telling Nan Xing to take her job seriously and approves her probationary period.

Ye Qing thinks Lu Zichen is too capricious and keeps everything from her. Death threats from readers are no small matter. Lu Zichen is speechless before her. Ye Qing calls the police to educate the revenge-seeking reader. On the way home, Nan Xing thanks Xiao Wudi for showing up and apologizes for making him take the risk. Xiao Wudi congratulates her—Ye Qing has officially approved her. Nan Xing worries about workplace gossip. Xiao Wudi encourages her.

Episode 7 Recap

Nan Xing arrived at the company and saw Jiaojiao scolding someone. She thought she had made a mistake at work, but it turned out Jiaojiao and her colleagues were celebrating her, congratulating her on officially becoming a full-time employee. Everyone looked at Nan Xing with new respect, as she was the first executive assistant to successfully pass the probation period.

Jiaojiao planned to throw a party for her, and Nan Xing suddenly thought of Xiao Wudi—she wanted to properly thank him. Nan Xing brought Xiao Wudi out to try VR, and she got very excited playing. Xiao Wudi wasn’t interested at first, but Nan Xing kept dragging him along, and eventually they both had a great time. Afterward, Xiao Wudi wanted milk tea, and Nan Xing bought it for him.

While waiting for Nan Xing, Xiao Wudi unexpectedly saw Lu Zichen. Lu Zichen returned the necklace he had previously bought for Ye Qing and happened to run into Song Jiaming. Song Jiaming recognized Lu Zichen and openly said he was going to propose to Ye Qing, asking for Lu Zichen’s opinion. Lu Zichen advised him not to propose in public, as Ye Qing valued her privacy.

Xiao Wudi saw this as an opportunity—after all, the woman Lu Zichen loved was being proposed to by someone else. After buying the milk tea, Nan Xing also brought back a stuffed toy for Xiao Wudi and named it Little Bear Wudi. Xiao Wudi looked annoyed, thinking it was too ugly. Nan Xing joked that when he was bored and lonely, he could talk to Little Bear Wudi.

Xiao Wudi thought Nan Xing was acting strangely that night and asked if she had some kind of scheme. Nan Xing said she just wanted to thank him. Though Lu Zichen still didn’t like her yet, she wasn’t going to give up. Nan Xing complained that every time she saw Lu Zichen, she got so nervous she stammered. Xiao Wudi offered to help her win over Lu Zichen.

Nan Xing’s mother was thrilled to hear her daughter had passed probation and encouraged her. Nan Xing looked at the photos she had taken of Xiao Wudi and thought he looked adorable. Xiao Wudi didn’t see the resemblance with Little Bear Wudi, and he didn’t want Nan Xing to lead him astray. He wanted to focus on helping her attract Lu Zichen. Xiao Wudi decided to start with her appearance.

He bought professional clothing for Nan Xing to help her look more confident and intellectual. Nan Xing wasn’t used to it and said her stammering had nothing to do with how she dressed. Xiao Wudi analyzed that Lu Zichen was like a child—someone who needed to be cared for—and advised her to show him more concern and support. Nan Xing found his words convincing and accepted the new clothes. When Nan Xing met with Lu Zichen, she surprisingly didn’t stammer.

Jiaojiao cheered her on. A lot of hate mail arrived, but Lu Zichen didn’t care. He was focused on seeing if Ye Qing accepted Song Jiaming’s proposal. Some colleagues were emotionally affected by the haters. Nan Xing encouraged everyone to stay calm, saying Su Yuzhi’s death was just part of Lu Zichen’s writing, and the story’s ending wasn’t set. Lu Zichen overheard Nan Xing and assigned her some work while asking her to check on Ye Qing’s mood.

Nan Xing was about to leave work after finishing her tasks, but Xiao Wudi stopped her. He told her to stay with Lu Zichen and seize every opportunity to make an impression. Lu Zichen, still thinking only of Ye Qing, felt a bit down when he saw Song Jiaming invite her on a date.

Xiao Wudi came to the company, deliberately brought wine for Nan Xing, and told her to perform well in front of Lu Zichen since he had plans and couldn’t accompany her. Lu Zichen, in a bad mood, got drunk and prepared to head home. Nan Xing wanted to escort him out, but the two ended up trapped in the elevator.

Episode 8 Recap

Seeing that Lu Zichen was clearly drunk, Nan Xing held back from calling Xiao Wudi, afraid she couldn’t explain the situation clearly. Xiao Wudi watched gleefully from the monitoring room—this was all part of his plan to give Nan Xing an opportunity. Nan Xing called for help through the elevator intercom, but the security guard had already been knocked out by Xiao Wudi. With no one responding, she had no choice but to wait patiently.

Suddenly, Lu Zichen started talking to her. Lu Zichen poured his heart out to Nan Xing, pretending it was his friend who liked Ye Qing. Nan Xing didn’t know how to respond. As Lu Zichen talked, he got angrier and snatched the red wine from her bag to keep drinking. Nan Xing couldn’t stop him and didn’t want to keep listening, so she drank with him. Xiao Wudi watched from the monitors, amused.

Nan Xing pretended to fall asleep, and Lu Zichen was puzzled by her behavior. Xiao Wudi couldn’t hear them and thought Lu Zichen was about to do something inappropriate. He quickly opened the elevator doors and pulled Nan Xing out. Lu Zichen sobered up and left on his own. Nan Xing saw through Xiao Wudi’s scheme and called him out for arranging everything behind her back.

She said she didn’t like how he made decisions for her and denied having feelings for Lu Zichen. Xiao Wudi panicked and told her not to like Lu Zichen, thinking he wasn’t worthy of her. Nan Xing realized Xiao Wudi was only helping her so he could go back to his world, which made her angry. Xiao Wudi complimented her appearance, felt his heart racing, and, flustered by his own words, rushed home.

Back home, Xiao Wudi was completely out of sorts. He didn’t know whether he liked Nan Xing and couldn’t concentrate on anything. He didn’t believe his own feelings. To test himself, he stared at her face while she was asleep, full of inner monologue. He thought he was overthinking, but when he saw she hadn’t properly covered herself with the blanket, he felt sorry for her.

The next morning, Nan Xing woke up and changed back into her usual style, believing that confidence was more important than appearance. Xiao Wudi had been waiting at the door and told her to forget what happened last night. Nan Xing ignored him, saying she no longer believed his words. While waiting for the elevator, Nan Xing ran into Lu Zichen again. It was awkward for both of them.

Lu Zichen later sent her a text, asking her to forget what he said the previous night and to keep it a secret. Nan Xing looked at him and replied, “Okay. ” Lu Zichen was lost in thought, wondering if Song Jiaming had actually proposed. He imagined both scenarios—being rejected or accepted—and wanted to know what had really happened. At home, Xiao Wudi kept thinking about what Nan Xing had said and started talking to the stuffed bear.

He prided himself on being Prince Huanhe and believed he couldn’t possibly have feelings for Nan Xing. Nan Xing, worried she couldn’t keep the secret, blurted out that men were a pain. Her coworkers overheard and gathered to gossip about her and the boss—just as Xiao Wudi arrived at the office. Xiao Wudi used Lu Zichen as a threat to pressure her into having dinner with him. To avoid misunderstandings with her colleagues, Nan Xing agreed.

Xiao Wudi coaxed her by swearing an oath, and Nan Xing believed him. While they were happily eating, Sisi called and invited Nan Xing to meet a handsome guy. Upon hearing “handsome guy,” Nan Xing readily agreed, and Xiao Wudi instantly got jealous and secretly followed her to the gathering. The handsome guy and Nan Xing hit it off and even played pool together. The more Xiao Wudi watched, the angrier he got.

Lu Zichen asked Nan Xing to check on Ye Qing, and she advised him to take the initiative when liking someone. Lu Zichen took the advice and found out Ye Qing had broken up with Song Jiaming. He happily told Nan Xing the news right away. Nan Xing was speechless and drank alone, not knowing what Lu Zichen was thinking. Back home, Xiao Wudi tossed and turned, wondering when Nan Xing would return. Nan Xing brought him ice cream. Seeing how happily he ate it, she couldn’t help leaning in close to his mouth.

Episode 9 Recap

Looking at the adorable Nan Xing in front of him, Xiao Wudi’s heart pounded, but Nan Xing drunkenly fell onto his shoulder. Xiao Wudi carried her to bed, took off her shoes, covered her with a blanket, and held her hand as he slept beside her all night. Nan Xing, half-awake, was called by her mother. Xiao Wudi quickly hid under the bed and then rushed back to his own room.

Nan Xing asked Xiao Wudi if she had gone to his room last night. He didn’t dare admit it and lied that he had slept soundly. Nan Xing thought she had dreamed it. Just as Xiao Wudi managed to send her away, he found her purse on the couch. Xiao Wudi was enchanted. No matter where he went, he kept thinking of Nan Xing and even hallucinated her presence. He scared himself.

At work, Nan Xing was called to Lu Zichen’s office. Lu Zichen asked her to help set up a meeting with Ye Qing and for advice. Nan Xing suggested doing something Ye Qing liked. Lu Zichen thought that was a great idea and was in a particularly good mood. His new manuscript was finished, and he told Nan Xing to pick it up at his home that evening.

Ye Qing encouraged Nan Xing to support Lu Zichen more and become a better assistant. Back home, Xiao Wudi saw Nan Xing sitting on the stairs and thought he was hallucinating again. When she greeted him, he realized she was real and tried to flee. Back in his room, he discovered the bathroom was leaking. Nan Xing didn’t hesitate to help, and water splashed on her face. Xiao Wudi watched her, mesmerized.

Nan Xing thought she had made Xiao Wudi angry and complained to her mom. For her mom’s birthday, they invited Xiao Wudi to join the celebration. Nan Xing prepared a cake and playfully smeared it on Xiao Wudi’s face. They couldn’t help horsing around. After Nan Xing’s mom made her birthday wish, Xiao Wudi rushed to the bathroom to hide—he couldn’t face Nan Xing and kept fantasizing about her. Nan Xing thought Xiao Wudi was mad again and followed him.

Xiao Wudi felt awful, constantly reminding himself not to think about Nan Xing, but he couldn’t help it. To distract himself, he searched online for ways to stop liking someone, but none of the advice worked. Nan Xing wanted to cheer him up and invited him to do something he liked the next day. Xiao Wudi tried to guard his feelings and deliberately didn’t reply.

The next morning, Nan Xing saw no response and decided to check on him in person. Lu Zichen took Ye Qing to an art exhibition. Ye Qing was very interested and wanted to collaborate with the artist. Lu Zichen wasn’t happy—he had just wanted to take her out to relax, but Ye Qing kept thinking about work. Ye Qing made plans to attend the artist’s party that evening to learn more, thinking it would help Lu Zichen’s writing.

To stop thinking about Nan Xing, Xiao Wudi tried everything—drawing, yoga, meditation. While meditating, he bumped into Lu Zichen, but even then he couldn’t find peace, constantly receiving texts and calls from Nan Xing. Nan Xing had wanted to do an escape room with him, but he rejected her. When she cried for help, Xiao Wudi immediately appeared in front of her.

Episode 10 Recap

Nan Xing apologized to Xiao Wudi. She didn’t summon him on purpose; she just really wanted to invite him to play an escape room. She thought Xiao Wudi was still angry. Xiao Wudi hesitated but denied being angry. The two entered the escape room, with Sisi and Xiao Hao in the lead. The lighting inside was dim. Xiao Wudi and Nan Xing were grouped together. To pass the level, they had to perform a few tasks together.

If they completed them, it meant they hadn’t been "infected. " At first, they had fun completing the tasks, but the final one required them to hug. Xiao Wudi froze—he didn’t dare accept the hug. Nan Xing found it strange, saying he had been acting awkward lately and that the old Xiao Wudi was so straightforward. Xiao Wudi initially didn’t want to admit anything, but under Nan Xing’s words, he took the initiative to hug her.

In his heart, he confessed to himself that the one he liked was Nan Xing. After the door opened, Nan Xing didn’t notice anything and thought Xiao Wudi liked another girl. Xiao Wudi realized Nan Xing hadn’t figured it out. The two rode bikes home happily. Back at home, Nan Xing’s mom encouraged her to continue writing her novel. Nan Xing said that after getting to know Lu Zichen, she couldn’t find inspiration to write.

Her mom suggested using Xiao Wudi as a muse, saying she really wanted to read the rest of the novel. Nan Xing thought about it but kept saying no. Xiao Wudi was very happy. He didn’t want to suppress himself anymore. Since Nan Xing couldn’t see through his feelings, he texted her to arrange more escape room activities. He carefully prepared breakfast, hoping Nan Xing would come find him, but she went to work without saying a word.

Xiao Wudi was furious. Ye Qing discovered Nan Xing’s novel on the forum and invited her to join the company’s Rising Star Project, praising her excellent writing. Nan Xing read the comments—ever since she added the character Xiao Wudi, the feedback had been overwhelmingly positive. Lu Zichen came to Nan Xing again, asking how he could develop his relationship with Ye Qing.

Nan Xing didn’t want to answer, saying she’d been single for years and had no dating experience—at most, she could suggest creating more "accidental encounters. " Due to work, Nan Xing didn’t reply to Xiao Wudi’s many messages. He showed up personally during lunch break, insisting she come down to eat with him or he’d go up to the office. Nan Xing rushed down, only to find Xiao Wudi asking her to feed him.

Jiaojiao and others followed, gossiping and joining their lunch. Xiao Wudi felt awkward with so many people—he wasn’t used to it. Jiaojiao, impressed by Xiao Wudi’s talents, casually mentioned how attentive Lu Zichen had been to Nan Xing lately, which made Xiao Wudi jealous. Nan Xing had work to do, but Xiao Wudi asked her to play another escape room with him that night, and she couldn’t refuse.

Lu Zichen took Nan Xing’s advice and tried to create a chance encounter with Ye Qing at the office to get her attention. Xiao Wudi thought there would be another hugging opportunity at the escape room, but things didn’t go as expected—he almost got an NPC’s flying kiss instead. He didn’t like the escape room—it didn’t give him a chance to hug Nan Xing like last time.

Nan Xing had to rush home, unsure what to write for a new story for the Rising Star Project. Xiao Wudi went crazy and went to Xianzi Spring to rant—only to see Nan Xing there again. Knowing he was hiding something, Nan Xing gently pressed him to tell the truth. Xiao Wudi couldn’t resist, blushing and sweating, and eventually fainted.

Episode 11 Recap

Nan Xing carried Xiao Wudi home. He pretended to be weak and running a high fever. When Nan Xing mentioned taking him to the hospital, he manipulated his internal energy to lower his body temperature. Nan Xing needed to get back to work, but Xiao Wudi, not wanting her to leave, acted feeble to keep her by his side. Believing him, Nan Xing fed him porridge and stayed at his bedside until he fell asleep.

After Xiao Wudi fell asleep, Nan Xing tucked him in. The next morning, she cooked porridge for him, and her mom caught her. Learning Xiao Wudi was sick, Nan Xing’s mom came over to care for him. Xiao Wudi, lively in his room, had planned for Nan Xing to stay and keep him company, but she called her mom for backup.

Xiao Wudi pretended to be pitiful, saying he’d had health issues since childhood and only good moods could heal him. Nan Xing thought about it and called her mom over too. Xiao Wudi felt his plan backfired. At work, Nan Xing saw Lu Zichen waiting for her and knew she was in for another lecture.

Sure enough, Lu Zichen called her to his office and, pretending it was about his "friend," talked about trying to create chance encounters with Ye Qing but with no success. He wanted more advice. Nan Xing found it odd—they only met during work. She told him his friend should think from Ye Qing’s perspective and ask if she even had free time outside of work. Lu Zichen had a sudden realization.

While working, Nan Xing worried about Xiao Wudi and messaged him but got no reply. At home, Xiao Wudi was being cared for by Nan Xing’s mom—constantly drinking hot water or being bundled up. Burning hot, Xiao Wudi had to hide in the bathroom with a fan. Nan Xing’s mom thought he was constipated and handed him a bottle of laxative. After work, Nan Xing rushed home to check on Xiao Wudi and make porridge.

Upon arriving, she learned he was already better. Xiao Wudi couldn’t take it anymore and decided to stop faking illness. Nan Xing delivered the porridge, then hurried to her room to think about her novel. Xiao Wudi decided to try a new trick—he cut the electricity at Nan Xing’s house. She checked multiple times but couldn’t find the cause. Xiao Wudi secretly rejoiced and invited Nan Xing and her mom to stay at his place.

Nan Xing’s mom didn’t mind—it was her house anyway. Xiao Wudi prepared the guest room and rushed Nan Xing’s mom off to freshen up, trying to get alone time with Nan Xing. But Nan Xing’s mom didn’t want to sleep and suggested the three play cards. Nan Xing and her mom had a great time. Xiao Wudi, on the other hand, couldn’t grasp the game’s strategy—being from ancient times, he found it incomprehensible.

He ended up with his face covered in sticky notes but refused to give up, planning other ways to make Nan Xing stay. The next morning, Xiao Wudi cooked breakfast and was praised by Nan Xing’s mom. Nan Xing wanted to contact the electric company and move back home. They couldn’t find the problem and said they’d need to tear down walls to check. They had no idea it was Xiao Wudi’s doing.

He asked them to stay a few more days until the power came back. Nan Xing wanted to watch a romance movie with her mom, but Xiao Wudi got ahead of her. He had already bought tickets for Nan Xing’s mom and Sisi to another movie, so Nan Xing had to watch with him. At the theater, he bought a couple’s popcorn set, trying to create a romantic atmosphere.

But Nan Xing swooned over the male lead in the film, and Xiao Wudi felt invisible beside her. After the movie, Xiao Wudi insisted they watch another—this time, a cartoon to prevent her from fangirling again. Unexpectedly, Nan Xing fell asleep leaning on his shoulder. Xiao Wudi’s heart pounded, and even long after the cartoon ended, he didn’t wake her—not until a janitor came in to clean. On the way home, Nan Xing vented about being busy and annoyed lately.

Xiao Wudi learned she was struggling to write her novel and encouraged her to write about how they met. Nan Xing, recalling all the times Xiao Wudi bullied her, thought it would make an interesting story.

Episode 12 Recap

Ye Qing had been busy with work, worrying about the casting for the company’s project. Lu Zichen told her to take a break and forced her to reconnect with her old self. Ye Qing used to love extreme sports, so Lu Zichen took her water skiing. Seeing her happy made him feel content. Ye Qing thanked him—it had been a long time since she let go emotionally like that. A water-skiing coach invited Ye Qing to go bungee jumping.

Lu Zichen, though afraid of heights, went along for her—and fainted at the bungee site. Lu Zichen woke up on a hospital bed, overhearing Ye Qing talking to another man. Unexpectedly, she was chatting casually with the doctor, who even added her on WeChat and suggested hanging out together. Lu Zichen was unhappy but didn’t know how to react. Ye Qing teased him, thinking he was planning to write a bungee-jumping story.

But she had work at the company and had to leave. Nan Xing kept thinking about how to turn her and Xiao Wudi’s story into a novel but didn’t know where to start. Xiao Wudi messaged her, asking if she needed help. He believed Nan Xing would write their love story and might ask him how to describe holding hands or hugging. Secretly delighted, he waited for Nan Xing to come to him.

The next day, Nan Xing went to work as usual. Xiao Wudi assumed the novel was finished and went online to check. To his shock, he found himself described as a demon in her story. There wasn’t a trace of sweetness—just a tale of a demonic neighbor named Xiao Wudi bullying a young girl named Nan Xing. He was furious, feeling that his sincere efforts were ignored.

Xiao Wudi felt he had to respond and personally wrote a story titled “My Hero Master” to remind Nan Xing. In his version, Xiao Wudi came from the Hehuan Palace. Nan Xing was infatuated with his beauty, begging him to marry her. After reading it, Nan Xing thought Xiao Wudi was delusional. It had nothing to do with reality—she had been terrified when she met him, so how could she have begged him to marry her?

Xiao Wudi didn’t believe her, convinced she once clung to him with indecent words. The two had different writing directions. Xiao Wudi demanded Nan Xing get his approval before publishing her story. Nan Xing had to make sure he didn’t find out she wrote him as the demon neighbor. Xiao Wudi couldn’t sleep all night, wondering why Nan Xing feared him so much. He asked Sisi if someone could be infatuated with someone they hated.

Sisi’s answer disappointed him—she said Nan Xing had swooned over many people before but didn’t seem to have truly liked anyone. Just when he thought all hope was lost, Sisi added that she thought Nan Xing’s type was the gentle, refined, warm guy. Xiao Wudi took the hint and decided to pretend to be the type Sisi described. He sincerely invited Nan Xing to discuss the novel plot and was so gentle that even his messages seemed strange.

Nan Xing wondered if he had taken the wrong medicine and told him to wait until evening. A doctor came to the company to return Ye Qing’s keys and invited her to go rock climbing in front of Lu Zichen. Ye Qing readily agreed. The doctor mentioned Lu Zichen, saying he seemed to be pursuing her. Ye Qing hadn’t realized this and thought all their interactions were just work.

The doctor advised her to think it over—after all, Lu Zichen wouldn’t have gone bungee jumping otherwise. Nan Xing returned home planning to find Xiao Wudi. When she opened the door, she saw him sitting alone by the window, without the lights on.

Episode 13 Recap

Xiao Wudi was uncharacteristically gentle and considerate in front of Nan Xing. He served her tea and draped a coat over her shoulders. Nan Xing was surprised, thinking Xiao Wudi was trying to tease her again. Unable to hold back, she questioned him. Xiao Wudi continued to build his warm-hearted image, acting with great sincerity. Nan Xing felt suspicious and worried he was plotting something, feeling anxious inside.

Xiao Wudi told Nan Xing not to be nervous and to create freely. Nan Xing said she wanted to go home and write, then quickly slipped away. Just as Nan Xing closed the door, Xiao Wudi was furious and had to remind himself to be a gentleman. Back at home, Nan Xing thought about her novel and figured that a demon turning into a warm guy could be a proper ending—but it felt uninteresting.

She wanted to add a romantic storyline for the female lead, but no matter how she wrote it, it lacked emotion. Even though the male character she added was her ideal type, she still didn’t find him attractive enough. Nan Xing felt like she had run out of inspiration and couldn’t write a good story, which troubled her.

Xiong Sisi called for help—she had lost the money she used to sign up at a gym, and the boss wouldn’t refund it. Xiao Hao couldn’t fix the issue either. Nan Xing called Xiao Wudi for help, and the four of them walked into the gym confidently, all wearing sunglasses. Nan Xing originally thought Xiao Wudi would scold the gym boss, but to her surprise, he reasoned with him.

The boss wouldn’t listen and arrogantly claimed they had no proof and he wouldn’t refund the money. Xiao Wudi suggested talking privately, but the boss ignored him and called over several gym trainers to surround Xiao Wudi. The boss pulled out his phone to record, threatening Xiao Wudi that whoever made the first move would be breaking the law. Xiao Wudi realized the boss was up to no good.

He took off his jacket and told Nan Xing to step back, warning that it was dangerous. Nan Xing was worried he’d get hurt and asked why he was being so reasonable, which didn’t seem like him. Xiao Wudi told Nan Xing to start filming with her phone too. He used martial arts to provoke the opponent into striking first and secured strong evidence. Nan Xing felt vindicated and showed him the video on her phone.

The boss ordered the trainers to snatch Xiao Wudi’s phone, but they were no match for him and were effortlessly taken down. The boss cried out for mercy under Xiao Wudi’s teaching and was forced to refund Sisi’s money. Nan Xing found Xiao Wudi to be incredibly charming during this incident and decided to write this heroic image into her novel. She shared the whole story with her classmates, who all called Xiao Wudi a “hero.

” Nan Xing’s love-struck expression was captured in a photo by Sisi. Xiao Wudi confessed to Nan Xing that he had been acting like a warm guy just to make her fall for him. Nan Xing froze. To cover it up, Xiao Wudi pretended it was all to help her gain inspiration for her novel.

Nan Xing realized that her previous depiction of the devilish neighbor had been too much and gave the male lead a new character arc—one that showcased Xiao Wudi’s kind actions toward her. Ye Qing assigned Nan Xing the copyright licensing work for Lu Zichen and encouraged her to balance her job and writing. She hoped to see Nan Xing’s completed novel when she returned.

Upon hearing that Lu Zichen was feeling down lately, Ye Qing called to ask where he was. Lu Zichen was meditating again, but when he found out that the doctor hadn’t pursued Ye Qing, he was thrilled. Ye Qing wanted to clarify things with Lu Zichen and recalled how, back then, Lu Zichen’s father opposed their startup and even suspected they were romantically involved. Lu Zichen had said at the time that he’d never fall for Ye Qing. Now, Ye Qing wanted to know if he had meant that. Nan Xing began to idolize Xiao Wudi, finding him handsome in every way.

Episode 14 Recap

Nan Xing attended a reunion with her former teammates, and Xiao Wudi got jealous. Nan Xing explained that she saw them as brothers, just like she did with Sisi. Xiao Wudi took the opportunity to ask how she viewed him. Nan Xing replied that, for now, he was the inspiration for her writing and her one special creative partner, which finally made Xiao Wudi a little happy. Xiao Wudi asked about Nan Xing’s progress on the novel.

After reading it, he was secretly delighted—his domineering devilish persona had been reversed in the story. However, he thought the martial arts part was a bit simplistic and offered to help Nan Xing improve it by outlining ideas every night. Nan Xing accepted the offer, removed Lu Zichen’s name from the novel, renamed Xiao Wudi’s character “Young Master Hehuan,” and kept her own character as Nan Xiaoxing.

Every day after work, Nan Xing went to Xiao Wudi’s place to discuss every detail of the story. They worked hard to enhance it. The novel was finally completed. They went through several title drafts and ultimately named it My Villain Boyfriend. Xiao Wudi was confident that readers would love it. Nan Xing, however, felt that the dating scenes lacked realism.

Ye Qing returned early from her business trip and was pleased to see how much Nan Xing had improved at work. She personally coached Nan Xing on how to build experience. Nan Xing gained recognition from her colleagues, who were all willing to help her. For the New Star submission program, Nan Xing’s novel was well received and was selected as one of the most promising works.

Nan Xing received an invitation to an interview with the company and went there with Xiao Wudi. Ye Qing praised their work, calling it fresh and creative for newcomers. The company offered them a contract, leaving space for sequels, and complimented the unique style of their story. Lu Zichen, learning that Ye Qing had returned to the company, happily went to find her. He admitted he had read Nan Xing’s novel and thought it was good but not realistic.

Ye Qing responded that love stories don’t need to overthink things—liking someone is enough. She took the chance to test if he had feelings for her. Lu Zichen fell silent. Ye Qing answered her own question, saying that after knowing each other for so many years, their relationship had always been professional. Lu Zichen was troubled by his confusion over love and couldn’t figure out Ye Qing’s thoughts.

Xiao Wudi picked Nan Xing up and deliberately treated it like a date to help her find romantic inspiration. When they tried holding hands, Nan Xing felt her heart skip a beat. Back home, Nan Xing was overjoyed—at that moment, she had truly felt moved. Xiao Wudi hugged a teddy bear and daydreamed about their future together, even thinking about marriage and children, realizing he was completely falling for her.

He and Lu Zichen met again while meditating and ended up complaining to each other about their romantic troubles. Nan Xing rewrote the ending and wanted to invite Xiao Wudi to a company-organized writing retreat, but she never managed to say it in person. Back home, as she wrestled with her thoughts, she accidentally summoned Xiao Wudi. When he heard it was a two-day, one-night trip, he happily agreed.

Lu Zichen also planned to ask Ye Qing out, but she told him that tomorrow was an important day. Lu Zichen had no idea what she meant. Nan Xing returned to her high school to attend the school anniversary, and Xiao Wudi couldn’t find her. From Nan Xing’s mom, he learned that Nan Xing had a first love that ended in heartbreak.

Episode 15 Recap

From Nan Xing’s mom, Xiao Wudi learned that during adolescence, Nan Xing had a crush on her son Mao Xiaojun, and they had attended the same middle school. At the time, Nan Xing had poor grades and constantly chased after Mao Xiaojun, asking him to tutor her, but he found her annoying. Nan Xing’s mom had never interfered, thinking the two were still immature. Later, a fire broke out, and Mao Xiaojun died.

Since then, Nan Xing developed a panic disorder and never dated again. Only then did Xiao Wudi understand why she had been single for so long. At Sujiang Middle School’s anniversary event, Ye Qing gave a speech as an outstanding alumna, while Lu Zichen sat in the audience watching her the whole time. Nan Xing went to the equipment room and was almost hit by a falling box, but Xiao Wudi showed up just in time.

When he saw Mao Xiaojun’s name, he fell into a gloomy mood and reminded Nan Xing to stay safe. Nan Xing told herself not to miss the person she liked right in front of her. Before Xiao Wudi left, she asked him to join her on the two-day, one-night writing retreat. Ye Qing and Lu Zichen’s company generously donated to the school, earning praise from the principal.

Lu Zichen’s father told the principal not to praise too much—he wanted Lu Zichen to take over the company. Lu Zichen thought the donation was enough and didn’t expect so many follow-up responsibilities. Luckily, Ye Qing was always there to help. She hadn’t told Lu Zichen that, during the early days of their startup, she had approached his father for investment. His father agreed on the condition that Ye Qing never date Lu Zichen, or he’d withdraw the investment.

To prepare for the writing retreat, Nan Xing wanted to plan her outfit in advance. Her mom suggested she wear more skirts and tie her hair in a ponytail. Even in her sleep, Nan Xing kept thinking about how to confess her feelings to Xiao Wudi during the trip. Xiao Wudi also looked up travel guides for the old town, planning to confess in the perfect setting.

Both of them packed carefully—Xiao Wudi sprayed on cologne, and Nan Xing wore a dress. They arrived at the departure point and saw Hu Jiaojiao calling roll. When she saw Xiao Wudi, she was thrilled, but Xiao Wudi silently thought about how she had ruined his lunch date with Nan Xing before. He didn’t expect Lu Zichen to join such an event, but there he was, dragging a suitcase.

Ye Qing was a little surprised and asked why he hadn’t told her in advance so she could mentally prepare. When it came time to assign rooms, Nan Xing roomed with Jiaojiao. Due to space limitations in the guesthouse, Lu Zichen had to share a room with Xiao Wudi.

Lu Zichen wanted to stay at a nearby guesthouse and hinted at Nan Xing to help, but Xiao Wudi stopped her, reminding her that she was here as an author, not his assistant. With no choice, and at Ye Qing’s urging, Lu Zichen agreed to share the room. Xiao Wudi had already scouted the old town in advance and secretly took Nan Xing away from the group. They ate jelly noodles and tried pottery together.

Xiao Wudi wanted to make an Eiffel Tower; Nan Xing guided him hand-in-hand, and the two had a great time. Nan Xing wanted to make a souvenir representing their bond, and Xiao Wudi made it with her. When their hands touched, sparks flew. Xiao Wudi was very pleased and mocked Lu Zichen for not understanding love. Lu Zichen argued that in the novel they wrote, the male lead wasn’t capable of giving the female lead happiness.

Xiao Wudi got anxious—he believed the character was based on himself. Lu Zichen said he loved tragic romances and, based on the novel’s plot, the male lead would disappear after completing his mission, leaving the female lead alone. Xiao Wudi was speechless, suddenly afraid he might face the same fate. After dinner, everyone planned to watch fireworks together, but Xiao Wudi wasn’t in the mood. Nan Xing didn’t want to see the fireworks either—she just wanted to stay with him. Xiao Wudi said he wanted to rest at the guesthouse, and Nan Xing said she wanted to rest too.

Episode 16 Recap

All the colleagues gathered to light fireworks. Lu Zichen kept looking at Ye Qing. When the fireworks bloomed, Lu Zichen had made up his mind and confessed to Ye Qing. He said he would no longer be a coward and would take full responsibility for all consequences. Ye Qing didn’t know how to respond—if she agreed, they would face many real-life challenges together; if she didn’t, she was afraid of losing this friend.

Ye Qing hoped they could pretend nothing happened tonight. Lu Zichen left, feeling disappointed. Xiao Wudi kept thinking about what Lu Zichen had said. The male lead in the novel was based on him. He had appeared out of nowhere, and if he suddenly disappeared, he really wouldn’t be able to bring happiness to the female lead. When Nan Xing confessed to him, he hesitated. Xiao Wudi felt he had no identity and couldn’t promise Nan Xing a clear future.

Nan Xing didn’t want to miss the chance—she held Xiao Wudi’s hand and hoped he would agree to be with her. When the fireworks bloomed, Xiao Wudi hugged Nan Xing, afraid the fireworks might trigger her panic disorder. Nan Xing said the future should be left to the future to decide. Right now, she liked Xiao Wudi and didn’t want to miss him. Seeing Nan Xing like this, Xiao Wudi decided to be with her.

Just as he was about to kiss her, a passerby interrupted them. Xiao Wudi had no choice but to walk Nan Xing back to her room and stopped by the pottery shop. Xiao Wudi took out a gift he had made at the pottery shop and gave it to Nan Xing—it was a cute wind chime doll. He hoped that every time Nan Xing heard the bell, it would feel like hearing his heartbeat.

Nan Xing was very happy and waited for Xiao Wudi’s kiss, but Hu Jiaojiao interrupted them. The two quickly hid, luckily avoiding being discovered by Hu Jiaojiao. Otherwise, the whole company would know they were together. Hu Jiaojiao opened the door, thinking she had heard Nan Xing’s voice, but the two had already hidden in the bushes. The two-day, one-night writing retreat ended.

On the way back, Xiao Wudi pretended to sleep on the bus, while Nan Xing quietly sat close to him. They held hands and listened to music together. Nan Xing didn’t want anyone at the company to know for now and asked Xiao Wudi to keep it a secret—they would only date in private. Back home, Xiao Wudi wanted to tell Nan Xing’s mother about their relationship but was stopped by Nan Xing.

She said she wanted their relationship to be more stable before telling her mother, especially since Xiao Wudi still had no formal identity or job. Xiao Wudi thought she was right. Nan Xing mimicked her mother’s tone and kept asking Xiao Wudi about his identity and job. Nan Xing’s mom made dumplings and invited Xiao Wudi to try them. Xiao Wudi and Nan Xing were secretly dating and were nearly caught by her mom.

Her mom wanted to look at their phone photos, but their phones were filled with selfies together. Nan Xing quickly took Xiao Wudi back to her room. The two continued texting, planning to leave work together, say goodnight, and share cheesy lines. Xiao Wudi wanted to resolve his identity issue as soon as possible so he could date Nan Xing openly. Nan Xing really liked the wind chime and hung it on her window.

The next day, when Nan Xing went to work, she thought Xiao Wudi was still asleep, but he was already at the bus stop with roses waiting for her. They sweetly agreed to meet again after work. When Nan Xing arrived at the office, she found that Lu Zichen hadn’t gone home all night and had stayed in the office.

Episode 17 Recap

After the writing retreat, Lu Zichen couldn’t figure things out and kept sleeping at the office. Nan Xing brought him the meeting schedule and noticed he wasn’t doing well. She guessed he had a conflict with Ye Qing. During the meeting, everyone was discussing the shortlisted works and the award ceremony, but Lu Zichen was absent-minded, repeatedly asking Ye Qing why. Ye Qing quickly ended the meeting and spoke to Lu Zichen alone.

She hoped he wouldn’t let emotions affect work—otherwise, she would have no choice but to leave the company. Lu Zichen didn’t want her to leave, but he couldn’t stop her. Ye Qing asked a subordinate to organize and report the project work to her. She asked Nan Xing to help arrange a one-on-one meeting with Xiao Wudi. Nan Xing called Xiao Wudi and told him that Ye Qing wanted to meet him alone.

Xiao Wudi had prepared a surprise for Nan Xing, and Nan Xing also wanted to take him to a mysterious place. After work, Nan Xing walked out of the office and saw Xiao Wudi waiting. He handed her a processed birth certificate and joked that with this, he could get a household registration and infiltrate X Culture, even buy the company. Nan Xing believed him and told him not to use a fake birth certificate—it’s illegal.

Xiao Wudi made her laugh and said he had seriously thought about giving her a stable future. Nan Xing was touched and took Xiao Wudi to her alma mater, sharing stories from her school days. When they reached a pond, Nan Xing said she had always liked this place when she was a student. There were two turtles in the pond, and she fantasized about walking circles with someone she liked and having endless things to talk about.

But she never dated anyone before graduation. They then went to the classroom where Nan Xing used to have classes. She found her seat, number 59. Nan Xing mentioned there was a boy in her class who often wrote a letter on the blackboard. It wasn’t until graduation that everyone found out the letter represented the girl he had liked all along. After he confessed, they got together.

Xiao Wudi, seeing Nan Xing so happy, walked to the blackboard and wrote her name. Nan Xing also wrote Xiao Wudi’s name and drew a heart around both their names. Xiao Wudi couldn’t resist trying to kiss her. Just as he lowered his head, the classroom door opened. A security guard came in with a flashlight and asked what they were doing. Xiao Wudi didn’t hesitate—he grabbed Nan Xing and ran out of the classroom.

On the way to meet Ye Qing, Xiao Wudi passed by a cake shop and bought a bear-shaped cake for Nan Xing. When he arrived at the office, Ye Qing wanted to discuss Nan Xing’s interests. She didn’t know about their relationship and wanted to understand their division of roles. Xiao Wudi found out that Nan Xing had written a fanfiction novel in which the villain character was based on him.

Xiao Wudi was in a daze and left the office with the cake without seeing Nan Xing. Nan Xing saw this and chased after him. Xiao Wudi didn’t want to see her. After learning he was a character from her novel and not someone who had time-traveled from ancient times, he blamed her for keeping it from him. Nan Xing couldn’t explain and held the bear cake, silently crying.

Ye Qing realized she had misunderstood their relationship and apologized to Nan Xing. She had originally wanted to finalize the novel contract before resigning. Hearing this, Nan Xing couldn’t hold back her emotions and burst into tears. Xiao Wudi locked himself in his room. He felt he wasn’t a real person, just a fictional creation. Nan Xing was worried about him, but Xiao Wudi didn’t know how to face her and kept avoiding her. Thinking he hadn’t gone home, Nan Xing waited downstairs. When Xiao Wudi saw her, he felt bad.

Episode 18 Recap

Everyone was reluctant to see Ye Qing leave after hearing about her resignation. When Ye Qing arrived at the office and saw the gifts on her desk, she guessed her departure had been leaked. Everyone gathered around her, sad to see her go. Ye Qing pretended to be strong and comforted them. Her courage and confidence greatly impressed Nan Xing. Everyone took a group photo with Ye Qing as a keepsake.

When Lu Zichen heard about Ye Qing’s resignation, he rushed to her office and asked why. Ye Qing said it was her decision, and no one could stop her. Lu Zichen humbly asked if she had never liked him. He couldn’t believe it. Ye Qing didn’t answer, and Lu Zichen stormed out. Back home, he remained in low spirits. Lu’s father told him that if not for Ye Qing, he would never have invested in Lu Zichen’s company.

Lu Zichen learned that it was his father who had forbidden Ye Qing from being with him. Xiao Wudi still couldn’t make sense of his origin. He once thought he was a martial arts master, extremely intelligent, and at least somewhat famous in ancient times. But after learning the truth, he realized that as a human being, he had no meaning and couldn’t see any hope. Nan Xing kept encouraging him and apologized for everything.

Xiao Wudi didn’t blame her—he just felt lost, with no memories of childhood and no direction in life. Nan Xing didn’t know how to comfort him and turned to her mother for advice. Her mother told her that life has rich meaning and doesn’t require overthinking. Many things are beyond our control, and it’s more important to enjoy the present. Nan Xing thought her mother was right and shared these words with Xiao Wudi.

Before Ye Qing left the company, she gave Nan Xing an assistant’s notebook. She believed in Nan Xing and praised her strong learning ability. But Nan Xing lacked confidence and only hoped to become a capable assistant like Ye Qing. Ye Qing explained why she had chosen Nan Xing—she admired her work and believed that one day, Nan Xing could become a talented author like Lu Zichen. Lu Zichen couldn’t find Ye Qing or reach her by phone.

He was very anxious. Ye Qing deliberately ignored his calls and returned to her hometown to help her parents run their wonton shop. Nan Xing promised to be responsible for Xiao Wudi. Xiao Wudi received a ceramic gift Nan Xing had made: bowls shaped like a little doll and a bear. Xiao Wudi was summoned by Nan Xing again, and when he arrived, he found himself lying in a crib. Nan Xing wanted to give him a childhood memory.

She had recreated scenes from his birth to college graduation and even celebrated his birthday. Nan Xing apologized again and said she wanted to use the rest of her life to make up for what Xiao Wudi lacked. Xiao Wudi was very touched. He made a wish to protect Nan Xing for the rest of his life. After blowing out the candles together, Xiao Wudi held Nan Xing in his arms and kissed her.

While embracing passionately, Xiao Wudi suddenly disappeared. Nan Xing opened her eyes, thinking Xiao Wudi was joking, but no matter how many times she called out to him, he didn’t appear. She rushed back to his place and found that everything he had brought from ancient times had vanished. Nan Xing cried and called out his name throughout the room, even used the summoning words for help, but Xiao Wudi never appeared. Xiao Wudi woke up and found himself lying in bed. He had returned to Hehuan Palace in ancient times.

Episode 19 Recap

Xiao Wudi searched everywhere for Nan Xing and happened to encounter a family of passersby. The passersby recognized his identity but were not afraid of him—instead, they expressed gratitude for his life-saving deed. Xiao Wudi was surprised, as in Nan Xing's novel, he was a villain. He wanted to know if there were any other heroes, but the passersby said no and only told him the location of Fairy Spring.

Xiao Wudi arrived at Fairy Spring and tossed a coin in to make a wish, hoping to return to Nan Xing. However, there was no reaction. He then jumped into the water, thinking of how Nan Xing had saved him in the water when she first found him. Nan Xing stayed in Xiao Wudi’s room, holding the ceramic bowl they made together, crying and thinking of him.

Ye Qing helped her parents run their restaurant and was in charge of food deliveries. Lu Zichen found Ye Qing's hometown and watched as she rode away on her bike. Ye Qing’s mother spoke with Lu Zichen, saying that Ye Qing had been independent since childhood. Although she didn’t want her daughter to work so hard, seeing her persistence, she accepted it.

She hoped Lu Zichen would mature soon, as she didn’t want the boy her daughter liked to stay immature. Nan Xing continued working, firmly believing Xiao Wudi would return. Until he did, she would wait for him. She became more familiar with her assistant duties, helping to organize Lu Zichen's schedule efficiently. She planted a seed in the ceramic bowl, determined to guard and nurture it.

Nan Xing’s days were packed—handling company investments during the day and writing her novel at night. Her mother, having not seen Xiao Wudi for a while, asked about him. Nan Xing told her he had returned to his hometown. Lu Zichen encountered obstacles everywhere when seeking investments—many company bosses didn’t believe in his business. He refused to accept any more money from his father and decided to sell his house to invest in the company.

Nan Xing couldn’t stop him and could only contact an agent to list the house. Not knowing what to do, Nan Xing sought advice from Ye Qing. Ye Qing was very busy at the restaurant, and Nan Xing helped her with work after arriving. She noticed Ye Qing was different from how she was at the company. Ye Qing made her wontons and invited her for barbecue.

Nan Xing told her that Lu Zichen was selling his house to buy out his father’s shares and push him out. She hoped Ye Qing would return to the company to stop him. After learning this, Ye Qing messaged Lu Zichen, who replied that since she had resigned, she should rest well. Nan Xing realized there were many issues in the company and wondered when Ye Qing would return.

Teacher Shi reminded her that the interview for the New Star Project lacked only Nan Xing and Xiao Wudi, and asked her to ensure Xiao Wudi participated once she got in touch with him. Lu Zichen’s house was quickly sold, and the agent called to inform him. Lu Zhenliang learned that Lu Zichen had gathered the money to buy shares and, impressed by his courage, decided not to say anything for now. Nan Xing’s workdays were fulfilling.

Her mother noticed she was becoming like a career woman and suggested a walk after dinner. Nan Xing declined, saying she had too much work. Looking at the wind chime by the window, she murmured to herself, convinced that Xiao Wudi would return someday.

Episode 20 Recap

After selling his house, Lu Zichen had to live at the office. Due to recent issues, his serialized novel hadn’t been updated for two weeks, which could negatively impact the company. Nan Xing didn’t know what to do. Employees began to speculate the company might go bankrupt, so Nan Xing hurried to calm them. She found Ye Qing and told her everything, hoping she would return.

Ye Qing hinted to Lu Zichen, but he had his own plans and insisted on making decisions himself. Given their current relationship, he wouldn’t listen to her advice. Nan Xing felt helpless, unable to solve the company’s problems. Ye Qing comforted her and even bought her a bear-shaped cake. Seeing the cake, Nan Xing burst into tears. Lu Zichen finally finished a manuscript and asked Nan Xing to return to the office to proofread.

As she was proofreading, a fire broke out near the cardboard boxes. Lu Zichen ran to get a fire extinguisher, leaving Nan Xing alone. Terrified by the fire, Nan Xing cried out desperately for Xiao Wudi. At Hehuan Palace, Xiao Wudi heard her calling but didn’t know how to return.

Zhen Xianzi appeared and said he could send Xiao Wudi back, but only if he agreed to a condition: if their relationship was destined to end in tragedy, Xiao Wudi alone would bear the pain. Xiao Wudi reappeared and carried Nan Xing to the couch. When she opened her eyes and saw him, she immediately hugged him, saying how much she missed him.

Xiao Wudi pretended not to recognize her and didn’t want to hear anything—he told her to forget about him. Nan Xing knew it was him and insisted, shouting his name and telling him how important he was to her. Ye Qing came to the office to see Lu Zichen, bringing him a lot of food. He asked how she had been; Ye Qing said she was enjoying her free time.

Lu Zichen told her not to worry about the company anymore, and Ye Qing told him to take care of himself. The atmosphere between them was awkward, and nothing was clarified. Nan Xing returned home absentmindedly. She first went to Xiao Wudi’s room but didn’t see him. Xiao Wudi sat by the roadside, numbing himself with beer.

This time, he wanted Nan Xing to forget him, believing that if they weren’t together, she wouldn’t have to lose someone she loved again. Holding the little bear named Wudi, Nan Xing suddenly realized he might be faking his memory loss and deliberately acted cheerful in front of him. She summoned Xiao Wudi again, saying she was his girlfriend and he must do whatever she said. She had Lu Zichen move into Xiao Wudi’s room, which Xiao Wudi saw.

He decided not to leave. Nan Xing saw through his fake amnesia, and Xiao Wudi told her about Zhen Xianzi’s condition. Nan Xing said she was ready, and as long as they were together now, it was enough. Xiao Wudi inadvertently revealed that he was Nan Xing’s first love. Lu Zichen stayed in Xiao Wudi’s room but said he wasn’t used to sharing. Xiao Wudi replied that he hadn’t complained.

Nan Xing, reluctant to part, told Xiao Wudi to go to bed and kissed him on the tip of her toes. After returning to her room, she woke up in the middle of the night to find Xiao Wudi beside her bed. He didn’t want to leave and only wanted to stay with her. He promised he wouldn’t disappear so easily this time.

Episode 21 Recap

Nan Xing woke up to find herself wrapped like a rice dumpling. Lu Zichen couldn’t sleep and had symptoms of low blood sugar, so Xiao Wudi reluctantly made breakfast for him. Nan Xing rushed over to have breakfast with Xiao Wudi. Their intimacy surprised Lu Zichen, who thought they were just acting out characters from the novel—until they publicly admitted they were a couple. The New Star Project’s novel launched, and X Company promoted it through various channels.

After the team meeting, Lu Zichen was preparing to write and asked not to be disturbed. Nan Xing gave him a document to review. Upon reading it, Lu Zichen realized how immature he had been in the past for making Ye Qing worry about company matters. He went to the restaurant to find Ye Qing and spent her birthday ice-skating with her.

Talking about work, he was amazed to learn she could mark up the entire company contract in one night. He decided to become truly independent so she wouldn’t have to worry anymore and admitted he had been selfish. Lu Zichen encouraged her to spend more time doing what she liked. Nan Xing took Xiao Wudi to visit the graves of her father and Mao Xiaojun. In front of her mother, she introduced Xiao Wudi as her boyfriend.

She shared her good news, and her mother, already guessing their relationship, asked Xiao Wudi about his future plans. He said he hadn’t thought that far ahead. Looking at Mao Xiaojun’s tombstone, Xiao Wudi learned they shared a dislike for oranges. After dinner, Nan Xing’s mother seemed unhappy, worried that her daughter might get hurt in her first relationship. Nan Xing asked her not to question Xiao Wudi’s future plans but couldn’t explain much herself.

Xiao Wudi suddenly woke up from a dream where Mao Xiaojun had always secretly liked Nan Xing. He didn’t know what the dream meant or whether to tell her. Getting up, he was startled to see Lu Zichen holding a knife—Lu Zichen was brainstorming novel plotlines. Xiao Wudi shared his doubts with Lu Zichen, who gave a very blunt reply. Xiao Wudi felt it was unhelpful and wondered if this dream was Zhen Xianzi’s doing.

He also worried that telling Nan Xing might make him disappear again. Lu Zichen asked Xiao Wudi for help with his murder mystery plot, and Xiao Wudi casually said he’d use poison. Lu Zichen thought that was a great idea. Xiao Wudi wanted to get along with Nan Xing and felt his answer hadn’t satisfied her mother. Nan Xing’s new novel was well-loved by readers, topping the fan count among all new releases. Her colleagues celebrated for her.

She thanked Ye Qing and messaged her, hoping she would return to the company. Ye Qing was touched and sent Lu Zichen a message, saying she was happy he stuck to his dream. Lu Zichen recalled how Ye Qing had always been the one encouraging him. Nan Xing’s novel was about to surpass Lu Zichen’s in views. Seeing netizens praising the male lead, Xiao Wudi prepared a special dinner for her and publicly celebrated.

At the restaurant, Nan Xing suddenly saw sparks and had a seizure. Xiao Wudi quickly protected her and took her to the lounge. Looking at her condition, he vowed to find a way to cure her illness.

Episode 22 Recap

Xiao Wudi got jealous, thinking that Nan Xing was unwilling to resolve her emotional block because she liked Mao Xiaojun. Nan Xing explained that she liked Xiao Wudi more. She recalled the past—she and Mao Xiaojun were childhood friends, but starting in middle school, Mao Xiaojun began to distance himself. She always thought he disliked her and never confessed her feelings. One day, her father took her to the lab to work overtime.

When Mao Xiaojun brought them a late-night snack, he discovered a fire in the lab. He rescued Nan Xing first but failed to get out when he went back for her father—both perished in the flames. Thinking of all this, Nan Xing couldn't hold back her tears. She felt deeply guilty—if Mao Xiaojun had survived, he would have turned out even better than Lu Zichen.

She could never forget the night she watched Mao Xiaojun fall into the fire, utterly powerless to save him. Nan Xing choked up as she spoke. Xiao Wudi told her that Mao Xiaojun liked her; his coldness was just his way of expressing affection. Nan Xing thought Xiao Wudi was just trying to comfort her and didn’t believe he had dreamt of Mao Xiaojun.

Xiao Wudi gave it serious thought and realized that the task Zhen Xianzi had assigned him was to help Nan Xing overcome her emotional trauma. He understood that completing the task would mean his disappearance. He spoke with Lu Zichen and asked for his opinion. Though Lu Zichen didn’t fully understand what Xiao Wudi meant, he said that if completing the task meant disappearing from this world, he would still do it if it were him.

Lu Zichen updated his novel, and Ye Qing noticed that the story seemed to be a message he wanted to convey to her. Readers commented on the newly updated novel, discussing the characters. In the story, Su Yu and Ma Leng closely resembled Ye Qing and Lu Zichen. Nan Xing completed a contract authorization and wanted to take a few days off to relax with Xiao Wudi.

Lu Zichen suggested that Nan Xing resign—he believed she had the talent to be a writer and wanted to sign her as the company’s new author. However, she would need to quit her job as his assistant. Nan Xing was thrilled and readily agreed. Xiao Wudi spoke frankly with Nan Xing’s mother, revealing that he was a character from Nan Xing’s novel and couldn't stay in this world.

At first, her mother didn’t believe him, but after witnessing his martial arts skills, she was convinced. Xiao Wudi expressed his desire to cure Nan Xing’s panic disorder and hoped her mother could help. He believed only he could untangle Nan Xing’s emotional knot, and some words had to be said out loud. Nan Xing submitted her resignation as assistant to the CEO and officially became a writer.

Lu Zichen instructed her to hire a new assistant as soon as possible and gave her full authority over the process. Ye Qing congratulated Nan Xing on becoming a writer. The two had a meal together, encouraging each other. When talking about dreams, Ye Qing said hers was to pursue her dream with someone she loved. Nan Xing advised her to cherish every moment with the one she loved and not overthink things.

Back home, Nan Xing discussed work with Lu Zichen while Xiao Wudi pretended to read and eavesdropped. Lu Zichen planned to move out to give Nan Xing space for writing. Nan Xing told him about Ye Qing, and Xiao Wudi, upon hearing this, insisted she wasn’t allowed to choose anyone else. Xiao Wudi made Nan Xing a love-themed breakfast. Even when she was about to go to work, he clung to her, worried he might not get another chance.

They shared their affection sweetly, making Lu Zichen envious. Ye Qing, inspired by Nan Xing’s words, decided to pursue her dreams again. She returned to X Culture Company to interview for the assistant position. Nan Xing, Hu Jiaojiao, and others were the interviewers. Everyone was happy to see Ye Qing back. Lu Zichen was surprised to hear that the new assistant was Ye Qing.

Episode 23 Recap

Lu Zichen was a little upset when he saw Ye Qing—he wanted her to do what she loved. Ye Qing insisted on staying because the thing she loved most was having Lu Zichen in her world. Lu Zichen didn’t know how to respond. He had always thought Ye Qing didn’t like him. Ye Qing admitted she had once been too afraid of rejection to confess.

Now, with all the time in the world, she hoped they could keep chasing their dreams together. Nan Xing went home to find Xiao Wudi wearing Mao Xiaojun’s school uniform. Xiao Wudi urged her to trust him—he had decided to cure her panic disorder before leaving. Nan Xing was shocked to see Xiao Wudi recreate Mao Xiaojun’s appearance so vividly; he looked just like the real person.

Xiao Wudi knew all about Mao Xiaojun’s past—he had dreamed about him many times. Xiao Wudi took Nan Xing to a classroom. As she recalled the past, she blamed herself, thinking her unrequited love caused Mao Xiaojun’s death. Seeing her grief, Xiao Wudi told her that Mao Xiaojun had always liked her and would have been willing to sacrifice himself for her. He asked her to stop feeling guilty. Xiao Wudi lit a sparkler and walked slowly toward Nan Xing.

When she saw him, she didn't feel upset—she seemed to have overcome her panic disorder. Seeing her healed, Xiao Wudi couldn’t help but hug and kiss her. At that moment, he suddenly vanished again, leaving behind only the half-burned sparkler. Xiao Wudi came to his senses and found himself back in Zhen Xianzi’s domain.

He thought that helping Nan Xing let go of her emotional burden meant completing his task, but it turned out to be just a test from Zhen Xianzi. It was revealed that Mao Xiaojun had once met Zhen Xianzi by chance. As a child, he wished to protect Nan Xing for life and give her happiness. Even in his final moments, he never gave up.

Zhen Xianzi wanted to fulfill Mao Xiaojun’s wish and happened to see Nan Xing make a wish at the Fairy Spring—for a love that would be unforgettable. Zhen Xianzi brought out Mao Xiaojun’s notebook, which contained the character “hero Xiao Wudi. ” Thus, Xiao Wudi came into existence, with greater abilities than Mao Xiaojun and inherited his love for Nan Xing. Xiao Wudi returned to reality and could now stay in this world forever.

He finally understood that he was created by Mao Xiaojun and told Nan Xing everything. Seeing Xiao Wudi again, Nan Xing was overjoyed, and the two embraced warmly. Ye Qing took over Nan Xing’s assistant role at the company, but Hu Jiaojiao and the others were not used to the change. Lu Zichen’s father came for an inspection, and Ye Qing received him.

He asked why she returned to the company and reiterated the condition that she couldn’t be with Lu Zichen. Ye Qing understood and said that even without financial support from his father, as long as she was with Lu Zichen, the company could still grow. Lu Zichen’s father was impressed by her. Lu Zichen’s father clarified that the previous restriction wasn’t against Ye Qing personally.

He was just worried that Lu Zichen’s personality was too passive and he wouldn’t know what kind of woman suited him best. When Lu Zichen found out his father had visited, he thought he was there to pressure Ye Qing again and declared his intention to be with her. His father tacitly approved and reminded Lu Zichen to come home when he had time. Ye Qing kissed Lu Zichen.

She had finished reading his novel and was moved by the story of Su Yu and Ma Leng. She liked the brave and confident Lu Zichen she saw just now. Lu Zichen was overjoyed. Xiao Wudi came clean with Nan Xing’s mother, confirming that he had become a real person in the modern world. Her mother was astonished by this bizarre occurrence.

She tested Xiao Wudi’s sensory responses and finally accepted him, asking him to stay by Nan Xing’s side forever. Xiao Wudi vowed to protect Nan Xing for life. Nan Xing’s mother worried about his household registration, but he had already taken care of it.

Episode 24 (Ending) Recap

Nan Xing’s mother urged the couple to get married. Xiao Wudi and Nan Xing obtained their marriage certificate. Her mother gave them a wedding gift and wished them many children. Seeing how sweet they were together, she felt at ease. Xiao Wudi started calling her “Mom” instead of “Auntie. ” He and Nan Xing decided to turn their current home into their marital home instead of buying a new one. Nan Xing realized Lu Zichen was still living with them.

Together with Xiao Wudi, they informed him about their marriage. Lu Zichen was slow to react but congratulated them and said he would give them a red envelope. Seeing that he had no intention of moving out, Nan Xing quietly asked Ye Qing for help. Ye Qing drove over and took Lu Zichen to her apartment, giving Nan Xing and Xiao Wudi their own space.

Ye Qing surprised Lu Zichen by buying his old apartment and setting up a claw machine inside. They made a bet and reminisced about their early startup days and the hardships they had faced. This time, Lu Zichen successfully caught a gift. He had always liked Ye Qing and decided to be brave—he would lead her in doing what they both loved. The gift Ye Qing had bought long ago was a ring in her favorite style.

Lu Zichen picked it up, thanked her, knelt down on both knees, and proposed. Ye Qing said yes without hesitation. Nan Xing and Xiao Wudi held their wedding. Everyone at the company was happy for them and eagerly tried to catch the bouquet. As Nan Xing walked down the aisle, she couldn’t stop smiling, and so did Xiao Wudi. The two were deeply connected, grateful for their fateful meeting and their unforgettable love.

Nan Xing’s mother walked her down the aisle and handed her to Xiao Wudi, asking him to love and protect her daughter forever. Nan Xing was moved to tears. Feeling like she was dreaming, she told Xiao Wudi everything in her heart and asked him to take responsibility. Xiao Wudi called her “wife” and promised to love her forever. They exchanged rings and vowed eternal love.

During the bouquet toss, Xiong Sisi caught it, and Xiaohao used the chance to confess his love. Everyone found it sweet. After the wedding, Xiao Wudi and Nan Xing returned home. As they entered their bridal chamber, both were shy. Nan Xing took the initiative. She later took Xiao Wudi to visit her father’s grave, where Xiao Wudi promised to protect Nan Xing for life. Nan Xing shared their joyful news with her father and Mao Xiaojun.

At a bookstore, Nan Xing discovered that her novel had become a bestseller. Lu Zichen had strongly recommended it and even commented on it, speculating whether a time traveler could have children. Xiao Wudi saw it and deepened his relationship with Nan Xing—they had a daughter. Nan Xing’s novel My Villain Boyfriend was a hit. At a book-sharing event, she explained that her inspiration came from wanting to help those lost in life regain their passion.

While time travel and fairy godmothers don’t exist in reality, as long as one doesn’t give up, there will always be hope. When a reader asked if she had ever met Xiao Wudi from the book, Nan Xing said everything in the story was fictional. She was lucky not to have experienced any real tragedy. In fact, her current partner was her childhood friend—Mao Xiaojun.
