Moonlit Reunion Episode 32 Recap
> Moonlit Reunion Recap
Mei Zhuyu sensed that Wu Zhen was keeping a secret. Despite his repeated inquiries, she evaded his questions. Seeing her persistent refusal to confide in him, he resorted to threatening Ling Xiao's life to compel her to speak. Under duress, Wu Zhen finally revealed the truth: she is half-human and half-demon, and to fully transform into a demon, she would need to enter seclusion for a hundred years.
This revelation profoundly shocked Mei Zhuyu, as a century meant eternal separation for a mortal. He was overcome with guilt, realizing that his past actions might have been the reason she wished to become a full demon, and he deeply regretted the pain he had caused her. As Wu Zhen turned to leave, she suddenly felt unwell and instructed Liu Taizhen and Hu Zhu to take her to the Beast Market. Her body was now covered in spreading demon sores.
Upon arrival, Wu Zishu immediately performed a secret spell. During the transfer of power, Wu Zhen saw her demon core fully exposed. She tried to resist but was too weak to move. Wu Zishu explained that her body had been gravely damaged by a cell transformation technique and could no longer endure; only by becoming a full demon could her life be saved. He vowed to stay by her side forever, regardless of how the world changed.
Meanwhile, Mei Zhuyu suddenly recalled that Wu Zhen's unique constitution meant that a forced demon transformation would inevitably cause a backlash. He quickly rushed to the Beast Market, bringing Ling Xiao with him. Liu Taizhen also sensed a powerful surge of sinister aura within the Beast Market. Moments later, the sinister aura inside Wu Zhen violently erupted, threatening to tear her body apart. In a critical moment, Mei Zhuyu and Liu Taizhen worked together to stop Wu Zishu's ritual.
Unexpectedly, this forced infusion of the demon core, instead of transforming her, actually suppressed the rampant sinister aura within her. As a result of the chaotic energy, Wu Zhen instantly reverted to her tabby cat form and panicked, fleeing back to the human realm. Mei Zhuyu, consumed by worry, was about to rush out to find her when Liu Taizhen coldly stopped him.
She sternly warned him that if the sinister aura within Wu Zhen spiraled out of control, she would have to be killed to prevent a greater catastrophe. Mei Zhuyu, however, ignored the warning and spent the entire night frantically searching the empty streets for the cat, but to no avail. He returned home dejected. As he stepped into the courtyard, he spotted a familiar tabby cat curled under the eaves.
He was struck by the realization that their past chance encounters were never mere coincidences. Overwhelmed with remorse, Mei Zhuyu humbly knelt and apologized to the cat. He then prepared a special spiritual tea designed to absorb sinister energy and gently fed it to the tabby cat. The next morning, Wu Zhen awoke to find a strange man beside her. Observing him and remembering he had called her "Madam" the previous night, she assumed they were husband and wife.
Mei Zhuyu, hearing her confused questions, realized she had lost her memory. He quickly summoned Liu Taizhen and Mei Si to discuss a plan. Unexpectedly, Wu Zhen then climbed over a wall to steal fresh peaches from a neighbor, gleefully offering them to everyone. She seemed to have completely forgotten her identity as a county princess, yet she vaguely remembered herself as Mei Zhuyu's wife. Later that night, Mei Zhuyu was gently combing Wu Zhen's hair.
After she had fallen asleep and the night grew quiet, Wu Zishu secretly entered the room, intending to take the sleeping Wu Zhen away. The two men confronted each other, their eyes cold with resolve. Wu Zishu claimed an eighteen-year bond of master and servant with Wu Zhen, accusing Mei Zhuyu of being a mere interloper.
Mei Zhuyu retorted that even if Wu Zhen were to regain her memory and resent him, she would never choose Wu Zishu, a fact he believed Wu Zishu knew in his heart. Awakened by the commotion, Wu Zhen appeared, but she showed no recognition of Wu Zishu. Heartbroken, Wu Zishu left. Mei Zhuyu then asked Wu Zhen if she truly trusted him, despite the possibility of deception. She simply replied that she trusted him because he was "good-looking."
Mei Zhuyu proposed they leave Chang'an for a trip, and Wu Zhen happily agreed. To find a permanent cure for Wu Zhen's condition, Mei Zhuyu decided to take her out of Chang'an to search for the legendary "Zhuyu Immortal Herb", which offered a glimmer of hope. Liu Taizhen saw them off, reminding Mei Zhuyu that he should not further complicate Wu Zhen's attachment to the mortal world after she recovers, as her life grew more perilous with each passing day.
Mei Zhuyu affirmed that he only wished for her to live, and he could endure never seeing her again if it meant her survival. After their departure, Liu Taizhen returned to the Mei Manor, where Mei Si was painting her portrait. Suddenly, Ling Xiao arrived with news that Wu Zishu was causing trouble again in the Beast Market. Liu Taizhen immediately left for the Beast Market.
Concerned for Liu Taizhen's safety, Mei Si repeatedly pleaded with Xuan Hui to assist, but Xuan Hui steadfastly refused to return to the Beast Market due to a past grievance. At the Beast Market, Wu Zishu was consumed by rage, threatening to leave and seek revenge on Mei Zhuyu, even explicitly threatening to kill Ling Xiao. Liu Taizhen arrived just in time, using her authority to intimidate him and quell his aggression.
Meanwhile, Mei Zhuyu and Wu Zhen had sought shelter in an abandoned house. As they settled in, Mei Zhuyu noticed a broom moving on its own, and the surroundings grew eerily silent.
