Bai Ying found it peculiar when Su Mo requested to work in the side hall, as most servants vied for positions in the main hall. That night, she tossed and turned, convinced that Su Mo was deliberately avoiding her. When she heard the familiar sound of a xun, she ventured outside and indeed found Su Mo. Bai Ying then invited him to the Pavilion of Books, hoping to understand him better.

Su Mo confided in her, mentioning a maid named A'Lin who had helped him when his eyes were ailing and to whom he had shared his concerns. Bai Ying felt a sense of closeness, believing she held a special place in his heart. As they were speaking, Zhen Lan entered the Pavilion. Su Mo quickly used an invisibility cloak to conceal himself and Bai Ying. Zhen Lan sensed a presence but saw no one.

Fearing Bai Ying would be discovered, Su Mo handed her the cloak, created a diversion, and led Zhen Lan away. When Zhen Lan finally caught up, he recognized Su Mo as the person who had rescued the woman at Xinghan Paradise. Su Mo, in turn, realized Zhen Lan was the Crown Prince. Zhen Lan expressed his curiosity about the Crown Princess, whom he was forbidden to meet before their wedding, eager to know her character.

Su Mo advised him to accept fate, suggesting that since the choice was made, he should abide by it. Upon returning to Bai Ying, Su Mo explained that he became a servant unwillingly. Bai Ying felt that with his eyesight fully restored, he should leave, but Su Mo insisted he still owed her a favor. Later, alone in his room, Su Mo reflected on A'Yu's words.

Qing Wangchen had ordered them to assassinate Bai Ying, but Su Mo's reluctance had angered A'Yu, who warned him that all Merpeople would perish if he failed to act. Meanwhile, Zhen Lan grew increasingly suspicious of Su Mo, recalling his unusual presence at Xinghan Paradise and now in the restricted Jing Pagoda. The High Priest arrived, and Zhen Lan seized the opportunity to inquire about the large number of Merpeople in Kongsang.

The High Priest explained that 7,000 years prior, the Kongsang king defeated the Quanxian Tribe, killing their Sea Emperor and sealing their Dragon God, leaving them unprotected and seeking refuge in Kongsang. He added that Qing Wangchen was responsible for the suffering of many Merpeople, using them for his amusement. Though enraged, Zhen Lan felt powerless to intervene due to the King's failing health and Qing Wangchen's influence.

Just then, a secret report arrived, informing Zhen Lan that Prince Lan had died in battle and Ye City was in grave danger. Zhen Lan wished to see General Xi Jing immediately, but the High Priest cautioned him, promising to arrange a discreet meeting. The High Priest facilitated a meeting between Zhen Lan and Xi Jing, who urgently requested reinforcements, which required a personal decree from the King. Zhen Lan assured Xi Jing he would handle it.

Meeting with the King, Zhen Lan reported the capture of Boss Jin from Xinghan Paradise. He explained that this could be used to incriminate Qing Wangchen, arguing that removing such corrupt elements would strengthen Kongsang against foreign enemies. The King, seeing his own spirit in Zhen Lan, felt confident entrusting the empire to him. He then made a heartfelt request for Zhen Lan to call him "Royal Father."

Despite the initial difficulty, Zhen Lan eventually complied, bringing immense comfort to the King. Xi Jing, with his newly mobilized army, prepared to defend Ye City against the invading Cangliu forces led by Master Peng. As the battle raged, Master Peng resorted to a brutal tactic, presenting Xi Jing's wife, Yun Mo, as a hostage and demanding his surrender. Yun Mo, however, bravely urged Xi Jing not to falter and to defend Ye City at all costs.

With tears in his eyes, Xi Jing shot an arrow into his wife's chest, a tragic act of mercy to prevent her further suffering and to maintain his resolve. He then plunged into the chaotic battle, ultimately succeeding in defending Ye City. Back at Jing Pagoda, A'Yu executed Qing Wangchen's order, poisoning Bai Ying with a ghost spider. Su Mo discovered the attack and rushed to Bai Ying's aid.

He bravely sucked the venom from her body, collapsing from the poison himself beside her bed. When Bai Ying awoke, she found Su Mo by her side. He informed her of the ghost spider venom, and she worried for him, knowing the danger he faced by absorbing the poison. Su Mo, however, lied, assuring her he had a way to neutralize it. Bai Ying later sent Yao'er with medicine for Su Mo.

Yao'er, unaware of the full truth, warned Su Mo not to betray Bai Ying's trust. Before leaving Jing Pagoda, Su Mo left a gift of blooming cherry blossoms for Bai Ying. Su Mo then met with Yan Xi, who informed him that Aunt Ru and other Merpeople were imprisoned in Qing Wangchen's prisons, their exact location still unknown. The elders of the Merpeople tribe sought to make a blood pact with Qing Wangchen to force their release.

Su Mo subsequently confronted Qing Wangchen, forming a blood pact. He demanded the release of Aunt Ru and the other Merpeople, and a promise that Bai Ying would never be harmed again, threatening to trigger the pact if his demands were not met. Upon discovering the blooming cherry blossoms, Bai Ying realized Su Mo had departed. The High Priest voiced his suspicions that both A'Yu and Su Mo were involved in the spider attack, noting their simultaneous disappearance.

However, Bai Ying firmly insisted on Su Mo's innocence. After being freed by Su Mo, Aunt Ru wished to return to the Great Camp of Jing Lake with him. Su Mo, however, explained that he still had unfinished business and would return once everything was properly arranged. Later, at the bustling Flower Deity Festival, Su Mo looked up at the sky and made a wish to take Bai Ying to the beautiful Biluo Sea. Unbeknownst to him, Bai Ying and Yao'er also attended the festival, and the two eventually met amidst the festivities.
