Yu Huan felt remorse for putting Fei Lian in jeopardy, believing Fei Lian would regret helping him escape. However, Fei Lian dismissed his concerns, stating there was no need to worry until the day regret truly came. Confined indoors, Yu Huan asked Fei Lian to help him see his older sister, Yu Zhu. With Fei Lian's assistance, Yu Huan managed to meet Yu Zhu, but their reunion was witnessed by Master Peng.

Master Peng immediately went to Master Lang's residence to confront him about Fei Lian's whereabouts. Finding Fei Lian already home, Master Peng warned him against harboring Yu Huan, a suggestion Master Lang vehemently refuted. Master Peng insisted he had seen Yu Huan and Yu Zhu at Fei Lian's house earlier. Fei Lian then invited Master Peng to inspect his room. Inside, Master Lang discreetly stepped on a handkerchief Yu Zhu had accidentally dropped, ensuring Master Peng found no incriminating evidence.

With no leads, Master Peng departed, but not before Master Lang demanded a meeting at the Hall of Five Masters to clear his son's name from false accusations. After Master Peng left, Master Lang confined Fei Lian to the residence, forbidding him from leaving. Meanwhile, Yu Huan and Yu Zhu, still in hiding, planned Yu Huan's escape, with Yu Huan asking Yu Zhu to lure Master Peng away.

Zhi Zhe was displeased to learn of Master Peng's failed search for Yu Huan, reasoning that Jing City was only so big and Yu Huan couldn't run far. Yu Zhu pleaded with Zhi Zhe to spare Yu Huan, but Zhi Zhe coldly stated that everyone chooses their own path. Having obtained the power of the Dragon Deity, Su Mo focused on his next steps.

He also tried to summon Si Shi but failed, realizing he needed to find a way to awaken him. He spoke with a subordinate, noting that only the seal on Jing Pagoda remained, which, once removed, would grant him the full power of Heaven. He expressed deep concern for Kongsang's six princes, who were destined to turn to ash upon the opening of Wuse City.

Su Mo was determined to find a solution to prevent their sacrifice, declaring that both the slumbering citizens and the princes were his people. Su Mo theorized that if he could share the Mirror Technique's backlash with Su Nuo, he could find a way to share pain and life with others, thus averting the princes' fate.

He recalled a technique for life and death, the "Sea Oath of the Star Soul," from Princess Zhu Yan's palace, which he had seen as a child. Zhu Yan had warned him about its dangerous nature and the heavy price it demanded, essentially transferring one's life to another. His subordinate cautioned him against the technique's toll on one's spiritual consciousness. Worried about Yan Xi, Na Sheng sought him out by the river.

She noticed him examining a cryptic note, which read, "Close the net?" Yan Xi dismissed her concerns, but Na Sheng knew something was amiss. Unbeknownst to Na Sheng, Yan Xi had been controlled by the Cangliu people and was acting as their informant. He had secretly knocked Na Sheng unconscious earlier to try and steal her ring, but was himself backlashed by the ring's power, causing both of them to faint.

Soon after, Bai Ying's ring signaled Na Sheng was in danger, prompting Bai Ying and Su Mo to rush to their aid. They found both Na Sheng and Yan Xi unconscious by the river. Upon waking, Yan Xi falsely claimed they had been attacked by a swift spirit bird, which he hadn't clearly seen. Su Mo, concerned for their safety, erected a protective barrier around their hut. Despite Yan Xi's attempts at reassurance, Na Sheng initially chose to believe him.

However, his increasingly cold and distant behavior later led her to confront him, questioning if his feelings for her had changed. Yan Xi attributed his mood to the deaths of Han Zhou and Ning Liang, stating he struggled to find happiness while the Quanxian had not yet returned to Biluo Sea. Na Sheng confided in Bai Ying, pondering if mermen truly loved only one person throughout their lives.

Bai Ying, believing Yan Xi's distress stemmed from the loss of his friends, encouraged Na Sheng to be more understanding and supportive. Bai Lin, Bai Ying's sister, arrived at the hut but found herself blocked by Su Mo's barrier. Bai Ying had Su Mo remove it, and they embraced. Bai Lin expressed her strong desire for Bai Ying not to sacrifice herself to open Wuse City, urging her to find an alternative.

As Bai Ying walked Su Mo back, they discussed the "slight misunderstanding" between Su Mo and Bai Lin at Jiuyi Mountain, which Su Mo considered resolved. He advised Bai Ying and Bai Lin to rest while he devised a foolproof plan for unlocking the final seal, as attacking Zhi Zhe now would be disadvantageous.

After Su Mo left, Bai Lin approached him, revealing she had found a spell that could save Bai Ying from turning to ash, but only if Su Mo was willing to die. She explained that she had discovered Zhu Yan's notebook at her uncle's residence, which detailed the "Sea Oath of the Star Soul," a powerful technique that could reverse life and death and potentially break Zhi Zhe's tormenting blood pact.

However, the last pages of the spell were missing, preventing its completion. Su Mo, recalling Zhu Yan's warnings about the spell's severe cost, pressed Bai Lin to show him the notebook, but she denied possessing it, hinting that he would have to find the missing spell himself. Later, Bai Ying discovered a suspicious medicine hidden in Bai Lin's blankets and, concerned, gave it to Zhen Lan for investigation.

Zhen Lan, in turn, consulted the High Priest, who admitted he knew nothing about medicine. Consequently, Zhen Lan sent Hong Yuan to Quanxian to seek the expertise of Zhi Xiu. Zhi Xiu identified the medicine as a potent and vicious poison that, if taken by someone already afflicted, could temporarily suppress other toxins. This effect, however, was merely a deceptive revival, giving the user a fleeting appearance of rejuvenation while internally draining them completely. Su Mo, informed of these findings, instructed Zhi Xiu to keep this information from Hong Yuan for the time being, as he intended to investigate further.
