Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities Episode 37 Recap
> Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities Recap
Na Sheng wanted to join the mission to rescue Yan Xi, but she was advised to remain at the Quanxian camp. She was told that it was better for fewer people to go to the enemy's camp and that they couldn't risk her due to the power of the Heavenly Ring she possessed. Na Sheng accepted the decision, understanding that someone needed to prepare for Yan Xi's eventual return. She wished Zhen Lan success in his mission to Taoyuan Province.
Zhen Lan confirmed that he would go with Xi Jing to Taoyuan Province. Before his departure, Zhen Lan had entrusted Hong Yuan with the care of Bai Ying. Zhen Lan and Xi Jing then headed to Taoyuan Province to meet Governor Gao Shunzhao. Upon meeting, Zhen Lan and Xi Jing discussed Bai Ying's recovery and Su Mo's seclusion before outlining their strategy for Taoyuan Province. Gao Shunzhao, already displeased with Cangliu's destructive methods, met with them.
Zhen Lan clarified that they sought collaboration to create a new, peaceful Yunhuang, similar to the Land-Sea Alliance, rather than a surrender. He emphasized their shared desire for peace for their people, a sentiment Xi Jing echoed, stating that Su Mo also desired a peaceful life, not power. Convinced, Gao Shunzhao criticized Cangliu's abuses and pledged to help if they could ensure peace for his people. Zhen Lan promised they would not disappoint him, and they devised a plan.
The following day, news of Governor Gao Shunzhao's assassination spread. Nan Zhao swiftly reported this to Master Peng, who, instead of sending Nan Zhao to quell the situation in Taoyuan Province, assigned him a more critical mission. Master Peng suspected Kongsang was behind the assassination, aiming to seize control of Taoyuan Province by acquiring Gao Shunzhao's command token. Meanwhile, at the Quanxian camp, Ning Liang diligently guarded Su Mo, who was in seclusion.
Na Sheng expressed concern about Yan Xi's situation, but Ning Liang reassured her, revealing she already had a plan to rescue Yan Xi and would meet with Xiang. She assured Na Sheng that nothing dangerous would happen. Su Mo, during his seclusion, used his Mirror Art to call out to Bai Ying. He spoke of his tears and his fear of losing her, urging her to awaken. Bai Ying eventually regained consciousness, but her memories were fragmented.
She accused Su Mo, the Emperor of the Sea, of crossing a line. Su Mo explained she was at the Quanxian main camp for healing, but she had forgotten how she arrived. She recognized him as the Emperor of the Sea but couldn't recall their shared history with clarity, causing Su Mo distress. He remembered his Master's warning that forcefully opening Bai Ying's senses would cause her harm.
When asked, Bai Ying only vaguely remembered going to the Stranded Dragon Abyss. Su Mo advised her to rest, hoping her memories would return with recovery. Hong Yuan arrived at the camp, having been asked by Crown Prince Zhen Lan to care for Bai Ying. She encountered Zhi Xiu, her former lover, whom she had not seen in a hundred years.
Their past connection was deep, but Hong Yuan had married within her own clan for the sake of her people. Zhi Xiu still harbored strong feelings for her, but Hong Yuan maintained a natural distance. Su Mo observed their reunion, considering it a twist of fate. Unbeknownst to them, Su Nuo infiltrated the Quanxian main camp. Bai Ying, still disoriented, mistook Su Nuo for Su Mo and followed him towards Su Mo's ice chamber.
Su Nuo entered, aiming to retrieve the Cleaving Heaven Sword. When Bai Ying followed, he hid. Seeing that Bai Ying had survived his previous attack, Su Nuo resolved to kill both her and Su Mo, slipping poison into Su Mo's water. During the rescue attempt, Ning Liang and Xiang were ambushed by Nan Zhao's army. Ning Liang urged Xiang to take Yan Xi and flee while she covered their retreat.
Refusing to abandon her comrades, Ning Liang fought valiantly but was fatally wounded by Nan Zhao. Su Mo arrived to find her dying. With her last breaths, Ning Liang requested to be buried in the sea. Heartbroken, Su Mo promised her that all of this would end soon and that they would return to the Biluo Sea. Upon Su Mo and Yan Xi's return, Na Sheng rushed out to check on Yan Xi.
Su Mo confirmed Yan Xi would be fine and ordered him to be treated, but revealed that Ning Liang had perished. Overwhelmed with guilt, Su Mo lamented his failure to protect everyone and bring them home to the Biluo Sea. Bai Ying comforted him, urging him not to shoulder all the blame. Bai Ying then told Su Mo that she had seen someone resembling him enter the ice chamber.
Su Mo, considering her fragmented memory, initially suggested she might be mistaken but promised to investigate. Bai Ying felt a sense of familiarity with the ice chamber, though she couldn't place it. Su Mo advised her not to dwell on these forgotten memories, reiterating that her being alive was paramount. Meanwhile, Na Sheng watched over the unconscious Yan Xi, grieving for their losses. In another location, Yu Huan awoke, tended to by his sister, Yu Zhu.
He learned that Fei Lian had rescued him and Yan Xi had been rescued by the Emperor of the Sea. Realizing the Five Masters would not spare him for the heavy casualties Cangliu suffered, Yu Huan was filled with dread. Just then, Master Peng arrived. He accused Yu Huan of causing great losses and, by military rule, ordered his execution.
However, Master Peng offered Yu Huan a chance to explain his defeat in exchange for a fair punishment and had him taken away. Zhen Lan, after entrusting Xi Jing with managing Taoyuan Province using Gao Shunzhao's command token, returned to the main camp. He learned that Bai Ying was awake but suffering from memory loss and hastened to see her. Bai Ying remembered Zhen Lan clearly, but her memories of Su Mo remained fuzzy.
Zhen Lan, recalling Su Mo's warning that Bai Ying would suffer from severe headaches if forced to remember, decided not to recount their history. Bai Ying, holding a pearl, asked Zhen Lan about its origin and the important things she felt she had forgotten concerning the Emperor of the Sea. Zhen Lan suggested she ask Su Mo directly.
Bai Ying then sought out Su Mo, but he also hesitated to reveal the truth, telling her it would just be a story and advising her not to obsess over it. He then informed Bai Ying that he planned to leave the Quanxian camp the following day.
