Taoyuan Province's Governor, Gao Shunzhao, interrupted Yu Huan, informing him that suspects had been apprehended and were now in prison. With the matter seemingly resolved, Yu Huan and his subordinates departed from Taoyuan Province. Bai Ying, holding Su Mo, was relieved to hear of Yu Huan's departure. She looked at Su Mo, finding him as endearing as he was a century ago, and wished for time to stand still. Soon after, Ruyi descended to them.

She admitted she didn't know the exact nature of the magic Su Mo practiced, only that it allowed him to heal wounds rapidly. However, she warned that continued use of such power would result in immense backlash, a pain most could not endure. Ruyi implored Bai Ying to save Su Mo, emphasizing that their threads of fate remained uncut, and Bai Ying accepted her role.

Su Mo was temporarily stabilized by Bai Ying's infusion of magic, and she entrusted Ruyi with his care. Upon returning to the prison, Yu Huan discovered the arrested individuals were ordinary citizens, not the ones he sought. Nan Zhao, by his side, callously suggested executing them all. Governor Gao Shunzhao pleaded for their lives, prompting Yu Huan to declare that the deaths of these innocents would be on Gao Shunzhao's hands.

Yu Huan then ordered Gao Shunzhao to continue guarding the Ruyi Gambling House, forbidding entry or exit. He threatened Gao Shunzhao's life if the true targets were not captured. The next morning, Bai Ying went to search for Na Sheng, but the shop owner informed her that Na Sheng had already departed. Anxious, Bai Ying stepped outside, only to be struck by sunlight, causing her skin to smoke. Just then, Zhen Lan arrived, shielding her from the harmful rays.

He urged her to rest while he would take on the task of finding Na Sheng himself. Su Mo awoke, reflecting on his past actions concerning Bai Ying with a sense of remorse. Ruyi entered, reporting that Cangliu General Yu Huan had searched the gambling house. Though he had been dismissed, Ruyi recognized Yu Huan as a formidable adversary, the fiercest among Cangliu's younger generation, groomed by Master Peng, and known for his incomparable swordplay.

Su Mo acknowledged Yu Huan's prowess from their encounter at Tianque Mountain. Ruyi also mentioned that Bai Ying remained in the gambling house. Su Mo instructed Ruyi to find a discreet resting place for Bai Ying and Zhen Lan, and to escort them away once the Cangliu troops were gone. Bai Ying told Zhen Lan that her senior brother, Xi Jing, was also at the gambling house but was despondent and wanted no part in Kongsang's affairs.

She hoped Zhen Lan could rekindle his fighting spirit. Zhen Lan agreed, promising to make Xi Jing resume his responsibilities as a general. He then presented Bai Ying with a magic cloak designed to block sunlight, which would slow the dissipation of her spiritual consciousness. He insisted she wear it, despite her suggestion that he should, assuring her that he was fine and that everyone had one. Ruyi later informed Bai Ying that Na Sheng had left the gambling house.

She suggested they use the back door to exit safely, as fewer soldiers guarded it. Meanwhile, Yu Huan, frustrated by the lack of results, commanded the use of Wind Falcons to capture Na Sheng. Nan Zhao expressed his anger, questioning the deployment of such a powerful weapon for a mere individual and worrying about Yu Huan's accountability if they failed.

Yu Huan assigned Xiao to pilot the Wind Falcons, emphasizing that mastering the formidable machines required immense strength, agility, and willpower. He bestowed an armband upon Xiao, demanding unwavering loyalty, and charged him with leading the first joint assignment to Taoyuan Province. Yan Xi regained consciousness, realizing it was Su Mo who had saved his life. His immediate concern was for Na Sheng's safety, and he was relieved when Su Mo assured him she was well.

Yan Xi then recounted how he and Xiao had been tasked with assassinating Yu Huan but failed. Xiao had later contacted him for a new plan, only to ambush him with Cangliu soldiers, appearing to be under their mind control. Su Mo understood that Cangliu had begun using mind control techniques, enslaving people in a manner even more cruel than Prince Qing a century ago. Su Mo assured Yan Xi that this oppressive life would soon end.

Zhen Lan sought out Xi Jing, confronting his despondency. Zhen Lan reminded Xi Jing that he was the one who had brought him to Kongsang a century ago, his only friend, and that he still considered him his General. He vowed to repay Xi Jing for that act, urging him to reclaim his purpose.

Ruyi received urgent intelligence from a spy in Cangliu's main camp: Yu Huan was secretly transporting military weapons to Taoyuan Province, ostensibly to capture "Tianque-crossers," but primarily to seize the Heavenly Ring. Ruyi immediately instructed all unit camps to maintain vigilance and prepare for battle. Na Sheng, who happened to be present and still eager to see Yan Xi, overheard this. Ruyi, despite Na Sheng's protests, made her wait, prioritizing the unfolding crisis.

Reporting to Su Mo, Ruyi detailed Cangliu's new weapon, capable of carrying people, flying, and shooting arrows, which had never been seen before. Su Mo ordered the people of Taoyuan Province to return to Quanxian Camp and gather everyone at the gambling house. He also reiterated the need for Bai Ying, Zhen Lan, and Na Sheng to leave quickly.

Yan Xi, now aware of the situation, worried about Na Sheng's lack of magical abilities, fearing she couldn't defend herself against Cangliu's new weapon. He felt a profound obligation to protect her, as she had saved his life. Su Mo, concerned about Yan Xi's unhealed injuries, dissuaded him from escorting Na Sheng himself, instead suggesting he go see her. Yan Xi found Na Sheng and tried to convince her to leave immediately, explaining the danger of Cangliu's new weapon.

He then took her to Bai Ying and Zhen Lan to discuss a joint escape. Ruyi explained the grave danger of Cangliu's powerful new weapon, urging Bai Ying, Zhen Lan, Na Sheng, Yan Xi, Xi Jing, and Ting to evacuate. Zhen Lan, reassured by Xi Jing's presence, believed they would be safe with "a great general" protecting them. As they ventured into the eerily deserted streets, they were swiftly surrounded by Cangliu soldiers.

Yan Xi quickly hid Na Sheng before joining the fight. In the chaos, Bai Ying's protective cloak was torn away, exposing her to the sun. Zhen Lan rushed to her side, shielding her, while Xi Jing and Ting also engaged the enemy. Amidst the fierce battle, Na Sheng vanished. Zhen Lan quickly brought Bai Ying back to the gambling house and used his magic to stabilize her burns.

It was then that Su Mo learned the full extent of Bai Ying's century-long curse: she could never again be exposed to sunlight, a consequence of opening Wuse City and sacrificing half her spiritual consciousness for its inhabitants. Although Zhen Lan's magic eased her suffering, her spiritual consciousness remained gravely damaged, endangering her life.

As Bai Ying's condition rapidly worsened, Su Mo, despite Zhen Lan's objections and magical resistance, took control and began his own desperate treatment, carrying Bai Ying away with a solemn vow to protect her. Yu Huan officially launched the Wind Falcons toward Taoyuan Province, intending an aerial assault. Master Peng, observing Yu Huan's perceived "kindness" and reluctance to harm innocents, dispatched Nan Zhao to Taoyuan Province.

Master Peng ordered Nan Zhao to remind Yu Huan that "those who achieve great success must not be constrained by trivial matters." He further revealed that the Kongsang Heavenly Ring had also appeared in Taoyuan Province and commanded Nan Zhao to assist in its recovery, emphasizing the mission's critical importance. Nan Zhao, determined to gain glory, vowed to secure the Heavenly Ring himself. Meanwhile, Yan Xi continued his frantic search for Na Sheng through the streets, his anxiety growing with every fruitless step.
