He Biao took a calculated beating from Sun Sanxuan, feigning a struggle, as Chu Fengling initially pleaded for the violence to stop. However, Auntie Hei explained that He Biao needed to appear injured to successfully report back to Luo Yunsong. Understanding, Chu Fengling then urged them to hit harder, joking about He Biao's resilience. He Biao eventually signaled that he had endured enough.

Afterwards, Chu Fengling, still fuming over Luo Yunsong's attempt to send her to Europe, refused to return home and instead went with Wu Shuang to Ding Yunqi's bell tower residence, commenting on its unique charm. Ding Yunqi instructed San Jin to prepare extra food, anticipating her stay. He Biao reported to Luo Yunsong that Ding Yunqi had taken Chu Fengling, likely to his bell tower.

Enraged, Luo Yunsong ordered twenty men to surround the location, threatening severe harm to Ding Yunqi if Chu Fengling was hurt. Ding Yunqi, having predicted Luo Yunsong's arrival, sent Wu Shuang to alert Fengling upstairs. He then engaged Luo Yunsong, who stated his intention to settle matters with Ding Yunqi and his father.

Ding Yunqi clarified that his main interest was retrieving the dragon bone, adding that if Fengling's presence could help resolve the misunderstanding between Luo Yunsong and Ding Yuanshan, he would be grateful. After a tense exchange, Ding Yunqi proposed they work together to find his father. Luo Yunsong then went upstairs to speak with Chu Fengling, who confronted him about forcing her to Europe. Luo Yunsong apologized and asked her to come home.

Chu Fengling agreed, but only if he met three conditions: he must not interfere with her career or personal freedom; he must ensure Ding Yunqi's safety, as Ding Yunqi was becoming her collaborator; and he must return the dragon bone. Luo Yunsong accepted all conditions but requested ten days to return the dragon bone, a timeline Chu Fengling accepted after Ding Yunqi's approval.

Having secured her terms, Chu Fengling thanked Ding Yunqi and San Jin for their hospitality, inviting Wu Shuang to visit her, before leaving with Luo Yunsong. Luo Yunsong then offered Ding Yunqi the chance to return to his old mansion, calling it his home. Ding Yunqi, however, immediately dismissed the offer, explaining to Wu Shuang that the mansion was outside the French Concession, which would make him an easy target for Luo Yunsong.

Later, while driving through the streets, Luo Jiutian accidentally hit a man being chased for stealing opium. Luo Jiutian's intervention scared off the pursuers, who, upon recognizing him, quickly claimed it was a mistake. The man, grateful for being saved, offered the high-quality opium as thanks. Luo Jiutian refused the opium but expressed keen interest in the man, inviting him to talk further after learning he was an individual dealer.

Meanwhile, He Biao informed Luo Yunsong about the Han Tomb raid in Tianling Mountain. Luo Yunsong, seeing an opportunity, planned to use the incident to lure out Ding Yuanshan. He instructed his men to arrange an interview with the Shen Bao newspaper, where he would publicly announce his possession of the dragon bone, falsely implicate Ding Yuanshan in the tomb raid, and publish a wanted poster for him. Luo Jiutian, at the same time, feigned a change of heart.

No longer blaming Luo Yunsong for his crippled leg, he claimed to want to become a better person. Touched, Luo Yunsong gifted him a custom-made ebony cane. However, Luo Yunsong secretly suspected Luo Jiutian might be behind the Han Tomb raid and ordered He Biao to investigate him. Her Ladyship was displeased by the newspaper report and contacted Chu Fengling.

Chu Fengling, in turn, confronted Luo Yunsong, questioning why he would create such trouble by simultaneously publishing a lie and a secret. Luo Yunsong explained his strategy: the vital parts of the dragon bone's inscriptions were obscured. He reasoned that only Ding Yuanshan truly desired the dragon bone, so by publicly claiming possession, he would draw Ding Yuanshan directly to him.

Chu Fengling, still concerned, demanded that all future matters related to Kunlun be discussed with her first before she left to find Ding Yunqi. Ding Yunqi and Wu Shuang were outraged by the newspaper report. They decided to investigate the Han Tomb to clear Ding Yuanshan's name. Wu Shuang's on-site inspection confirmed it was a Han Tomb, though only a small, decoy burial.

She noted the raiders' precise locating skills but observed the tomb had been blasted open with explosives, a method never used by the Penta-sect, thus ruling out Ding Yuanshan. Wu Shuang further analyzed the terrain, identifying a nearby mountain as the probable site of the main tomb. The local magistrate confirmed the mountain's name as "Small Kunlun." Chu Fengling was ecstatic, believing it might be the legendary Kunlun, and eagerly asked Ding Yunqi for help, but he flatly refused.

Despite his refusal, Ding Yunqi focused on the explosives to identify the raiders. Chu Fengling investigated and relayed her findings through Wu Shuang: the residue was from powerful "fire artillery" used by the Songjiang Army. Since military matters were beyond Chu Fengling's purview, the investigation was left to Ding Yunqi. Feeling overwhelmed, Wu Shuang expressed longing for her master, Zhou Qiuhai, and asked Ding Yunqi to accompany her to Taiyi Private Bank.

Ding Yunqi declined, citing his dislike for Zhou Qiuhai's views on his father and Penta-sect methods. When Wu Shuang playfully brought up their engagement as the link between them, Ding Yunqi reacted sharply, leading Wu Shuang to chastise him for his old-fashioned thinking before she left alone. At Taiyi Private Bank, Wu Shuang presented Zhou Qiuhai with a gift, falsely claiming it was from Ding Yunqi.

She updated him on the Han Tomb investigation, including the use of Songjiang Army explosives. Zhou Qiuhai, already suspecting Luo Yunsong of framing Ding Yuanshan, revealed his own schemes: the opium dealer Luo Jiutian had encountered was arranged by him to ruin Luo Jiutian, and he vowed to make Luo Yunsong pay for slandering the Penta-sect.

Later, Zhou Qiuhai's subordinate, Jiang Xuewen, delivered a letter to Ding Yunqi, identifying Cui Yi, a subordinate of the munitions dealer Cui Yanzhi, as the source of the explosives. Wu Shuang questioned how her master knew their address. Ding Yunqi then pointed out the recent increase in street vendors around their building, realizing Zhou Qiuhai had strategically placed his men not to surveil, but to protect them. With this crucial information, Ding Yunqi decided to go to the Xuanwei Zitan, a location mentioned in the letter, to confront Cui Yanzhi.
