Guan Xiaodi and Cui Tianqi collaborate on a mission, despite some underlying tension between them. They are tasked with protecting a gambling stone for Wang Zilin. Cui Tianqi installs a security system that alarms if anyone approaches the stone. During their watch, an alarm sounds, revealing a security guard who claims curiosity. Guan Xiaodi suspects foul play, noting surveillance cameras were off when the guard approached, leading Wang Zilin to dismiss his current security and hire new personnel.
The next day, while escorting Wang Zilin and the gambling stone to the Hilton Hotel to meet Boss Cui, Guan Xiaodi and Cui Tianqi are followed by a van. Cui Tianqi, an excellent driver, manages to shake off the pursuers. Upon arrival, Wang Zilin immediately calls the TV station to report being followed, rather than the police, which raises Guan Xiaodi's suspicions.
She also notices Wang Zilin secretly meeting with the "kind person" who initially found the gambling stone, suggesting a hidden agenda. With no security guards hired, Guan Xiaodi and Cui Tianqi guard the stone overnight. Cui Tianqi reveals that Wang Zilin's former assistant had leaked information about the stone's loss to the media. She suspects Wang Zilin is deliberately hyping the stone. Further investigation by Cui Tianqi reveals that experts hired by Boss Cui were bribed by Wang Zilin.
Guan Xiaodi concludes that Wang Zilin is not just promoting his stone but is involved in fraud. While Guan Xiaodi briefly leaves for the restroom, several masked men attack Cui Tianqi. She sustains a minor arm injury fighting them off until Guan Xiaodi returns to scare them away. The incident prompts Guan Xiaodi to call the police.
However, Wang Zilin's lack of fright and eagerness to be interviewed by TV stations after the attempted robbery deepens Guan Xiaodi's suspicion that he is orchestrating a fraud of significant value. Guan Xiaodi wants to investigate Wang Zilin for fraud, but Cui Tianqi prefers to stick to her role as a security consultant. They decide to investigate separately: Cui Tianqi focuses on the suspects, while Guan Xiaodi tracks Wang Zilin.
Guan Xiaodi secretly follows Wang Zilin and records him meeting and interacting with the very men who attacked Cui Tianqi, confirming he hired them. Meanwhile, Cui Tianqi discovers discarded gloves left by the suspects, containing their fingerprints, which will aid the police investigation. Concurrently, Liang Dawei, burdened by his family mystery, travels to Xiong Kuohai's hometown to investigate his past. He questions Xiong Kuohai directly, but receives no answers.
In the hometown, he speaks with an old neighbor who confirms Xiong Kuohai had a wife named Lu Lin and a daughter named Xiong Xiaoyue, but no son. This revelation reinforces Guan Xiaodi's previous assertion that Liang Dawei is an illegitimate child, leaving him deeply upset.
