Lexin learned of her father, Le Datong's, suicide by sleeping pills from an airport news report while waiting to board a flight, devastating her. She cried with Guan Xiaodi before trying to contact her mother, whose phone was off. Lexin then called Uncle Wang, who reluctantly revealed that her mother had suffered a mental breakdown and was hospitalized.
A teenage girl now without a father and with a hospitalized mother, Lexin felt helpless but decided to stay, face the truth, and care for her mother, finally understanding a story Guan Xiaodi had shared with her earlier. To encourage Lexin, Guan Xiaodi returned Lexin's pet, Xiao Qi, providing comfort. Lexin confessed to Guan Xiaodi that she initially hated her father for abandoning them but now understood his love and forgave him.
She decided to donate his substantial inheritance to the state as atonement. Later, Guan Xiaodi reported to Xiong Kuo Hai, who praised her for her growth and for successfully encouraging Lexin. Although Guan Xiaodi expressed frustration over Le Datong's abandonment, Xiong Kuo Hai reiterated that Lexin's donation proved she didn't blame her father at heart. Meanwhile, Zhang Yan sought Guan Xiaodi's advice regarding Wang Dafang, who was persistently bothering her.
Guan Xiaodi suggested Wang Dafang was using the guise of protection to harass Zhang Yan and advised her to ignore him. However, Chen Siqing, who overheard their conversation at his cafe, intervened. He urged Zhang Yan to bravely face the situation, emphasizing that avoiding it went against the principles of Liehuo Shendun. Convinced, Zhang Yan decided to confront Wang Dafang. When Wang Dafang called, claiming he had been assaulted, Zhang Yan immediately rushed to his aid.
Upon arrival, Wang Dafang was unharmed but deliberately made things difficult, constantly demanding things and insisting she stay in his room. Zhang Yan dutifully fulfilled her responsibilities, tolerating his behavior.
