Fortunately, the wound was treated promptly, and her condition was not severe, requiring only a couple of days of rest. Upon waking, Guan Xiaodi recalled Liang Dawei's worried demeanor when he learned of her injury.
She felt a pang of guilt for treating him harshly, but she believed it was necessary as she couldn't reveal the truth to him about their relationship. Xiong Kuohai announced the next phase of training: a week-long survival exercise in a desolate wilderness with no instructors or rules, only the imperative to survive. He explained that successful completion would lead to a chance to join L. H. S. D. , while failure meant elimination.
Each trainee was given a backpack containing a day's worth of food and water, along with a note guiding them to a survival tool. They were informed that their wristbands contained GPS trackers, and losing or having a wristband snatched would result in failure. When a trainee asked how they could survive seven days with only one day's rations, Instructor Qin stated that any means were permissible as long as no one was seriously harmed.
Wristbands also featured an emergency button for immediate rescue. Backpacks were assigned based on the leaderboard, with the contents and tools varying by luck. Guan Xiaodi, known as Firewolf Girl, received a tool for starting a fire. As night fell, Firewolf Girl lit a fire, which attracted two male trainees who attempted to seize her equipment. Cui Tianqi, or Pink Panther, who was hidden nearby, threw stones at the attackers, causing them to flee.
Pink Panther noted the abrupt change in attitude among trainees, from training together to stealing from each other. Firewolf Girl questioned whether joining L. H. S. D. was worth such desperate measures. Pink Panther explained that worth was subjective, but the reality was that they might need to steal supplies to survive as food and water would soon run out, turning the exercise into a "Hunger Games Battle Royale."
Firewolf Girl declared that if it became a Hunger Games, she would be a "flaming firebird" and vowed to find a way for everyone to pass. On the second day, Ma Li, codenamed Devilfish, faced a similar ambush from two male trainees. Fortunately, Zhang Yan, known as Stinger Bee, intervened. Devilfish successfully defeated one attacker, pressing their emergency button and eliminating them from the training, while Stinger Bee scared off the other.
Instructor Liu Sha reported two eliminations within the first 24 hours to Xiong Kuohai, who instructed her to bring them back. Guan Xiaodi, Pink Panther, Liang Dawei (White Shark), and Ju Liang (Giant Bear) later converged. White Shark and Giant Bear were fighting when Firewolf Girl arrived and stopped them. Giant Bear initially resisted working with White Shark, but after Firewolf Girl explained that they could survive without stealing by finding wild berries, and a unanimous vote confirmed the team-up strategy, he agreed. Pink Panther then used her wristband's GPS-like function, similar to social media "people nearby" features, to locate other trainees within a two-to-three-kilometer range.
They successfully regrouped with other trainees, including Stinger Bee and Devilfish, and set up camp at a freshwater source that Firewolf Girl remembered from the first day. They decided to collect and share all supplies. As the day ended without any further eliminations, Xiong Kuohai, surprised by this, sent Liu Sha to investigate. She found the trainees happily singing and dancing around a campfire.
During their celebration, White Shark suggested singing a duet with Firewolf Girl, but she chose Giant Bear instead, leaving White Shark visibly disappointed. Pink Panther, who was playing music for them, noticed White Shark's sadness as he walked away. Later, White Shark shared his feelings with Pink Panther, admitting that he gives Firewolf Girl the power to hurt him because he loves her.
He and Pink Panther also reflected on how quickly the four days had passed, and the uncertainty of seeing each other again after the training concluded. Meanwhile, Instructor Liu Sha and Qin Sheng, observing the trainees' unexpected cooperation, decided that since they were no longer competing against each other, they needed to increase the pressure. They ambushed the trainees' campsite and stole all their food and supplies.
The trainees returned to find their camp ransacked and their provisions gone, leading to immediate despair and accusations, with some blaming Red Shadow. Firewolf Girl, however, deduced that Red Shadow wouldn't intentionally make enemies of everyone, and that the theft was likely an act by the instructors, Qin Sheng and Liu Sha, to create pressure and test their survival capabilities.
She reasoned that if the instructors truly wanted to eliminate them, they would have pressed their emergency buttons while they slept. Despite the setback, some trainees wanted to split up, fearing further ambushes. Firewolf Girl rallied them, explaining that instructors Liu Sha and Qin Sheng would not openly confront them but would use stealth tactics. She convinced them that staying together offered a chance to counter-attack.
On the fourth day, Firewolf Girl, White Shark, Pink Panther, and Giant Bear ambushed Liu Sha. They managed to subdue her, showcasing their improved skills. However, Liu Sha warned them that while they were busy with her, their unguarded campsite had likely been attacked by Qin Sheng. Rushing back, the trainees found their camp destroyed and all remaining supplies gone.
Despair threatened to set in again, but Firewolf Girl urged everyone to remain hopeful, reminding them that they only had two more days until victory. On the fifth day, Liu Sha and Qin Sheng observed the trainees, noting their unwavering determination despite the dire circumstances.
