After losing a competition, Lu Weixun expressed his humiliation at needing He Buzui's charity. He told her to recognize her place, but she retorted that he should be the one to look at himself. When Lu Weixun ordered her to leave, He Buzui firmly stated that she would not go, no matter what he said. Meanwhile, Mu Chunfeng called Lu Linong, seeking clarification on the blended wine from the competition.

Lu Linong admitted it was his arrangement but assured Mu Chunfeng that the wine was not tampered with. Mu Chunfeng noted that while he could identify the blend, Lu Weixun's failure to do so proved his lack of capability. As per their agreement, Lu Linong confirmed that Rose Winery now belonged to Mu Chunfeng, who smugly reflected that Lu Weixun was not as formidable as he appeared.

Lu Weixun, despondent, moped around the house, watching cartoons and absentmindedly making messes, with He Buzui quietly cleaning up after him. He then saw a TV news report announcing that Lu Linong was restructuring his wine business. The report highlighted that Mu Chunfeng had unexpectedly become the new owner of the long-mismanaged Rose Winery after defeating Lu Weixun. The news triggered a memory for Lu Weixun of his ailing mother, who had insisted on personally managing the family winery.

As a child, he had promised to grow up quickly so she could entrust it to him. Worried, He Buzui called Hao Yong, concerned that Lu Weixun might not recover from the setback. Hearing a crash, she rushed to Lu Weixun's room to find it littered with broken wine bottles. When Lu Weixun grabbed his car keys to leave, she snatched them away, accusing him of trying to drive drunk.

He shot back, asking what his life or death had to do with her. He Buzui insisted that as his bodyguard, she had a duty to protect him. Dejected, Lu Weixun claimed his sense of taste was gone, leaving nothing to protect. He Buzui offered to drive him wherever he needed to go. She drove him to a cemetery, where he placed flowers on his mother's grave.

Wiping dust from the tombstone, he recalled his mother gifting him the first bottle of wine from Rose Winery for his birthday. He then softly asked his mother's photo if, after his loss, he was still her pride. On the drive back, He Buzui remarked that he must love his mother very much, adding sadly that her own mother died when she was very young. Her phone then rang with a call from her senior, who asked her to dinner.

She declined, citing it was inconvenient, and they agreed to reschedule. Later, Hao Yong called, hinting that the competition had been manipulated and arranged to meet her. The next day, He Buzui met with Hao Yong and Xia Fan, a fervent fan of Lu Weixun. Xia Fan presented evidence of a coordinated smear campaign, showing how dozens of media outlets unrelated to the wine industry had uniformly criticized Lu Weixun after the competition.

He declared it a conspiracy to drive his idol out of the sommelier world. They went to Lu Weixun's home, but he dismissed their evidence, stating that a loss was a loss. While he acknowledged there was a hidden hand, he blamed his own overconfidence for the defeat. Xia Fan, distraught, passionately declared that this was not the dazzling "Idol" he knew and jumped on a table in agitation.

He then blamed He Buzui for Lu Weixun's decline, calling her a "femme fatale" and pointing out that his idol had never lost before she arrived. Hao Yong jumped to her defense, and the ensuing argument prompted an overwhelmed Lu Weixun to throw them both out. Later, while drinking alone, Lu Weixun admitted to He Buzui that it was a conspiracy, but he felt helpless.

She snatched his glass, drank the wine herself, and insisted he come with her to climb a mountain. Though he quickly grew exhausted, she encouraged him to push forward. At their campsite, she revealed she had lost her own sense of taste as a child after falling into a wine vat. Expecting sympathy, she was instead met with Lu Weixun's deadpan remark: "No wonder your IQ is so low. Your brain was literally in water."

He Buzui then led him to the seashore and called out for the "confident, proud, and fearless" Lu Weixun to return. He confessed that his talent had been defeated and perhaps he was never as strong as he thought. She countered that talent can become blinding pride, and assured him she believed he would rise again because he was her boss and still had things he needed to take back. Her playful encouragement made him smile.

Later, He Buzui presented a dish she cooked. Despite his skepticism, she urged him to eat, hoping the flavors might restore his sense of taste. She also produced a bottle of wine from his study, annoying Lu Weixun, who had forbidden her from touching his collection. Separately, Lu Weixun was seen despairing that his father was right and he was unsuited to be a sommelier, as his palate could only identify single wines but not mixed flavors.

He Buzui encouraged him to face challenges to improve, and a memory of his mother’s voice echoed her belief in him, calling him the best and mentioning a new wine from Rose Winery.
