Fated Hearts Episode 31 Recap
> Fated Hearts Recap
Feng Xiyang confronted Xia Jingyan, demanding to know if the investigators he sent regarding her father and brother's deaths were reliable. She found it unbelievable that Murong Yao and Murong Zhong were responsible, as Murong Yao had been her brother's best friend, and Murong Zhong like an uncle to them, closer to her brother than their own father. Xia Jingyan, in response, called her foolish, telling her that the report clearly stated Murong Zhong and his son were the culprits.
He urged her to vent her anger, suggesting she kill whomever she wanted if she was unsure who the true enemy was. Feng Xiyang insisted on finding out who her enemy really was, but Xia Jingyan reiterated that the report was clear: Murong Zhong and his son killed her father and brother. He added that he would kill them for her regardless of any hidden truths.
Distraught and unable to accept this, Feng Xiyang screamed at Xia Jingyan to get out. Later, Xia Jingyan instructed Bai Shouzhuo to prepare some beautifully presented tea, fruits, and pastries for Feng Xiyang, hoping it would lift her spirits. In the Storm Alliance, the worst fears were realized.
While Lady An's treatment had cured Feng Suige's blindness and resolved the blood clots in his brain, he had forgotten all the good things about Fu Yixiao, remembering her only as an enemy. Lu Ke explained that Feng Suige remembered some things, but this specific memory loss made the situation worse than if he had forgotten everything. Fu Yixiao asked if it was possible to restore all his memories.
Ling Feng replied that the brain was incredibly intricate, and whether he could recall everything depended on his fortune. Lu Ke tried to reassure Fu Yixiao, promising to tell Feng Suige everything when he woke up to help jog his memory. Lady An also advised Fu Yixiao not to take Feng Suige's current state to heart.
Fu Yixiao, though disheartened, stated she was prepared and grateful that Feng Suige's life was saved, his eyesight restored, and he still knew who he was, unlike her past self. Ling Feng then decided to seek Lady An's help, while Elder Zhou, who had just arrived and learned of Feng Suige's complex condition, also went to find her. Following Lady An's treatment, Feng Suige awoke.
Lady An, pleased with his recovery, noted that he could recall Ling Feng and Lu Ke. However, upon seeing Fu Yixiao, Feng Suige's eyes blazed with anger. He demanded to know where he was and if Pingling City had been conquered, indicating his memory was stuck before the Battle of Pingling.
While Lu Ke and Ling Feng attempted to explain the situation, Feng Suige remained fixated on the arrow wound on his chest, which he believed proved Fu Yixiao intended to kill him. He declared it an indelible memory, stating he would never forget it. Ling Feng explained to Fu Yixiao that Feng Suige's memories were indeed stuck at the Battle of Pingling, at the moment she shot him with an arrow.
He added that this specific, painful memory was perhaps a twisted blessing, preventing him from losing all memories entirely, which would have made recovery even harder. Feng Suige was stubborn and refused to believe anyone. He asked what he should do to recover his memories if he truly had lost them.
Lady An advised Fu Yixiao that her only course of action was to leave Feng Suige, to completely disappear from his life, never to see him again, allowing him to gradually forget her and recover on his own. She warned it could take anywhere from three to five years, or even a decade or longer, possibly a lifetime. Fu Yixiao, overhearing, questioned Ling Feng how long "a lifetime" meant.
Lady An then elaborated, explaining that Fu Yixiao's love for Feng Suige was like a sword; the closer she got, the deeper it would wound him. If Fu Yixiao achieved her desires, Feng Suige would be covered in wounds, but if she left, he would be safe and sound, though she would suffer both physically and emotionally.
Feng Suige still insisted on seeing Fu Yixiao to understand the truth, but Ling Feng refused, stating he could only meet her when he remembered everything. Despite Lady An's advice for her to leave, Fu Yixiao firmly decided against it, recalling a past promise Feng Suige had made to her: that if he ever forgot her, she should be angry and scold him, but never leave him out of disappointment. She had promised to never leave him.
Lu Ke reported to Fu Yixiao that his attempts to explain the truth to Feng Suige were futile, as Feng Suige refused to listen and had driven him away. Fu Yixiao asked if Feng Suige remembered anything about his father. Lu Ke replied that Feng Suige had forgotten everything after the Battle of Pingling, which might be a blessing in disguise as it spared him painful memories.
While Elder Zhou and Ling Feng were discussing other methods to restore his memory, Lady An insisted that the best immediate solution for Feng Suige's recovery was to tell him that Fu Yixiao had left. Fu Yixiao began using their shared memories to try and reawaken his lost recollections.
She recalled a time when she tried to care for him by soaking his feet, and he responded with teasing banter, calling her a "sulky little wife" but then revealing his fondness for her. She also remembered his distinct food preferences, particularly his love for spicy roasted meat and his aversion to garlic.
She remembered presenting him with a wolf figurine, symbolizing their eternal bond, and his delighted acceptance, where he gave her a matching one in return and spoke of marriage, emphasizing it was the first gift he had ever given a woman. However, these attempts to jog his memory had little effect.
In Jinxiu, during a court meeting presided over by the Empress Dowager, Minister Wang Encheng suggested taking advantage of Susha's internal chaos, the Murong family's control, and the leaderless Feng Battalion to launch an attack on Yujing. Another official, the Minister of the Court of Imperial Stables, cautioned against this, citing the ongoing marriage alliance with Susha and Princess Feng Xiyang still being in Shengjing, which would undo all previous efforts, including the Prince of Zhennan's marriage.
A heated debate ensued regarding who should lead such an army, with Wang Encheng recommending the Prince of Zhennan, while others raised concerns about his past desertion. The Empress Dowager, finding the dispute unresolvable, postponed the discussion. Privately, she recognized that the Emperor, Xia Jingyan, was not aligned with her, and her priority was to gain control of Xia Jingshi to stabilize the court. The Empress Dowager had warned Xia Jingyan against acting recklessly and pursuing Feng Xiyang.
Xia Jingyan, however, was accustomed to his arrogant and domineering ways. He dismissed her concerns, stating that while she was his mother, he was the Emperor and knew what he was doing. He was found picking flowers, and in a veiled metaphor, he spoke of his preference for thorny flowers and the pleasure of being pricked, implying his intent to pursue Feng Xiyang despite the risks.
Meanwhile, Xia Jingyan was furious about Wang Encheng's attempts to have the Prince of Zhennan lead an army against Susha. When an official inadvertently referred to Feng Xiyang as "Princess of Zhennan," Xia Jingyan angrily corrected him, declaring that Feng Xiyang and the Prince of Zhennan's engagement was broken and anyone calling her that again would be severely punished.
His mood brightened considerably upon seeing Feng Xiyang, to whom he presented a withered flower, commenting on its beauty when worn by her. Feng Xiyang inquired about the plans to attack Susha and asked with concern whether Xia Jingshi might lead the army. Xia Jingyan, already aware of Xia Jingshi's machinations with other officials, confirmed his suspicions.
Feng Xiyang then pointed out that Xia Jingshi resided in Rongyang Palace, questioning how he could communicate with ministers from there, a thought that made Xia Jingyan pause. The Empress Dowager summoned Xia Jingshi, expressing concern for his well-being. She offered him a bowl of freshly made apricot soup, which he remembered she enjoyed.
After gently chastising him about his dissolved marriage to Princess Feng Xiyang, and remarking on the princess's spoiled nature and the Emperor's infatuation with her, the Empress Dowager asked Xia Jingshi how he wished to deal with Feng Xiyang. He suggested sending her back to Susha, but the Empress Dowager dismissed this as foolish, stating that with her father and brother dead, Feng Xiyang was useless in Susha, much like a fan in winter.
She then offered to take care of Feng Xiyang herself and, revealing her true intention, asked Xia Jingshi if he was willing to lead an army against Susha. Xia Jingshi, understanding her implied message, readily accepted, thanking her for her trust. She then produced an antidote, assuring him that once Susha was conquered, she would find a good physician to fully treat his illness. Xia Jingshi recognized that his long-term ambitions were nearing fruition.
Meanwhile, Lady An visited Fu Yixiao and told her about a bet she had with Ling Feng: if Feng Suige fully recovered his memories, she would win Zhengnian Villa. She had come to find a cure for Feng Suige, hoping he and Fu Yixiao would remain together forever. Fu Yixiao then spoke of Huang, a man Lady An had saved who had lost his memories, including that of his deceased wife.
Lady An explained that Huang's wife had died collecting herbs on a mountain path. Ever since, Huang would visit a specific tree daily, rain or shine. Fu Yixiao noticed carvings on the tree, realizing they were tally marks indicating the number of days since his wife's passing – over 300 days. This observation reignited Fu Yixiao's hope and confidence.
She proclaimed that love, being indelible, could not simply be forgotten, believing Feng Suige still remembered her and that there must be another way to restore his memory without her disappearing from his life. Despite his outwardly naive demeanor, Feng Chengyang possessed political acumen and refused to believe that his father was murdered by his own brother. To uncover the truth, he first sought to gain Minister Shen Wu's loyalty.
Feng Chengyang observed that Shen Wu, having served for over a decade, was a master of court politics and flattery, yet always curried favor without truly committing to any master, thus surviving political upheavals like the fall of the Zhuang family unscathed. Feng Chengyang offered Shen Wu a chance to become his true confidant, warning him that further pretense would lead to his retirement. Shen Wu, realizing the gravity of the offer, pledged his unwavering loyalty.
Feng Chengyang then assigned him the first task: to investigate the true cause of the late Emperor's death, dismissing the widely accepted story of the First Prince's involvement as potentially false. Meanwhile, Ling Feng and Elder Zhou discussed Feng Suige's amnesia, acknowledging that no medicine seemed effective and they had no immediate solutions. Fu Yixiao, convinced that love could not be easily forgotten, decided to take a bold step.
She ordered everyone to leave the room, insisting that the matter between her and Feng Suige was private. Feng Suige, though hesitant, eventually told everyone to leave. Once alone, Feng Suige asked Fu Yixiao why she had left, as Lu Ke had informed him, and why she returned. She replied that she left not to hurt him, and returned because she couldn't bear to be without him.
He pushed her away, stating that while Lu Ke and Ling Feng claimed she was the love of his life, he couldn't forget the moment she shot an arrow at him. Fu Yixiao expressed regret for that arrow but found herself grateful that it made him remember her at all. Feng Suige acknowledged her as Fu Yixiao, the Red-Clad General of Jinxiu, his sworn enemy, with whom he had fought fiercely.
Fu Yixiao calmly stated that their love couldn't be explained and needed no explanation. When Feng Suige still insisted he didn't remember, she reassured him that it was only temporary and asked if he truly wished to kill her. Feng Suige hesitated, and Fu Yixiao recognized his inner conflict, urging him to acknowledge the answer in his heart. When he still threatened to kill her, Fu Yixiao defiantly advanced towards his raised sword, proclaiming her promise to never leave him. If he wished her dead, she would readily sacrifice her life for him. As she continued to approach, the sword pierced her, and blood began to stain her clothes.
