Feeling that constantly relying on Ye Hua for cooking was not a sustainable solution, Bai Qian conceived a plan. She asked Mi Gu to find an immortal in Qing Qiu to become Ye Hua's kitchen disciple. This way, even if Ye Hua left Qing Qiu, they would still have delicious meals. Mi Gu enthusiastically posted recruitment notices, attracting a long queue of small immortals to the fox den.
Upon seeing them, Ye Hua shook his head, declaring that none had suitable root bones. Looking at Bai Qian, he affectionately suggested that she was perfect for the role, but since he could cook, there was no need for her to learn. Bai Qian coughed awkwardly. Mi Gu later inquired who His Highness the Crown Prince had chosen, and Bai Qian, with a sigh, told him that no one was selected and dismissed the hopefuls.
Later, as Ye Hua and Bai Qian strolled through Qing Qiu, Ye Hua admired the natural beauty of the area, even comparing it to the Heavenly Palace. He then asked if Bai Qian would like to visit the Nine Heavens and the Jade Pond. Bai Qian, however, said she was not curious about visiting many places and had never even been to Kunlun Void.
Just then, Shao Xin arrived at the fox den, carrying the Cloud-Breaking Fan, clearly determined to speak with Bai Qian. Bai Qian, noting Shao Xin's arrival, remarked that she must have made up her mind. Shao Xin hesitated to speak with Ye Hua present, but Bai Qian assured her that Ye Hua was not an outsider and urged her to speak freely.
Shao Xin then tearfully recounted that her son, Yuan Zhen, had been punished by the Heavenly Monarch to spend sixty years in the mortal realm as a minor immortal after being accused of propositioning Consort Su Jin at a banquet. While Yuan Zhen had stopped himself before any actual wrongdoing, the Heavenly Monarch was furious.
Shao Xin pleaded with Bai Qian to save Yuan Zhen, explaining that he was destined for a tragic tribulation at eighteen that would make his entire life miserable, and as a mother, she could not bear to see him suffer. Bai Qian expressed concern that intervening might offend Ye Hua, as Su Jin was his concubine. Ye Hua, however, dismissed this, stating that he had no concubine and that Yuan Zhen's punishment was indeed too harsh.
Bai Qian realized that Shao Xin had shrewdly approached her because the Heavenly Tribe owed the Bai family a significant debt, and the Heavenly Monarch would likely overlook her intervention in such a minor matter. Bai Qian agreed to help Yuan Zhen through his tribulation, but on the condition that their former master-servant relationship would be severed afterward, and Shao Xin would have no further ties with her.
Bai Qian then considered consulting Star Monarch Si Ming to review Yuan Zhen's Book of Fate to prepare for the tribulation. Ye Hua warned her that Si Ming was notoriously eccentric, and even the Heavenly Monarch could not borrow his Book of Fate. He offered to retrieve it himself, as Si Ming owed him a favor, but had one condition for Bai Qian: she must seal her magical powers before entering the mortal realm.
Bai Qian was perplexed, but Ye Hua explained that altering mortal destinies incurred magical backlash. He feared that if she were severely injured by this backlash, it could endanger her life when they eventually ascended to the thrones of Heavenly Monarch and Empress, an event that required enduring eighty-one sets of uncultivated fire and nine sets of heavenly lightning. Bai Qian found his reasoning sound and agreed.
However, she then jokingly reminded him that since they were not yet married, she wouldn't have to share the heavenly fire and lightning with him if he ascended soon. Ye Hua, with a tender smile, teased her, asking if she was blaming him for not marrying her three hundred years ago, as that would have averted their current worries. Embarrassed, Bai Qian swiftly changed the subject, urging him to quickly settle Yuan Zhen's matter with Si Ming.
Ye Hua met with Star Monarch Si Ming, who recounted Yuan Zhen's mortal fate: he was reincarnated as Song Yuanzhen, a prince whose mother, a noble consort, became a nun after his birth. Yuan Zhen returned to the palace at fifteen and was soon to face his tribulation at eighteen. Si Ming described how Yuan Zhen's current teacher was a maidservant sent by Water Monarch Sang Ji to protect him.
Si Ming suggested that Bai Qian should replace this teacher and remain by Yuan Zhen's side. The tribulation would begin on the first day of the sixth month, when the emperor and Yuan Zhen visited the Shuyu River. A roc bird would cause a beautiful woman to fall into the water, and Yuan Zhen would save her, leading them to fall in love.
However, the emperor would also take a liking to the woman and bring her back to the palace as his favorite. One drunken night, Yuan Zhen would sleep with the beauty, who would then give birth to a prince. Unaware that this prince was his own son, Yuan Zhen would eventually kill him in a struggle for the throne after the old emperor's death. Heartbroken, the beauty would hang herself, leaving a letter revealing the truth.
Overwhelmed by grief and remorse, Yuan Zhen would attempt suicide but, being the sole male heir, would be forced to take the throne, living the rest of his sixty years in misery. Bai Qian, after hearing this "tempestuous fate," deduced that the turning point was Yuan Zhen saving the beauty, and resolved to prevent that from happening.
Ye Hua confirmed her role: she would assume the identity of the current Daoist teacher's senior sister, replacing her to become Yuan Zhen's new teacher in the palace. Meanwhile, Miao Qing overheard Ye Hua and Si Ming's conversation. She reported to Su Jin that Bai Qian intended to go to the mortal realm, sealing her powers, to help Yuan Zhen. Su Jin immediately seized the opportunity, subtly persuading Miao Qing to also descend to the mortal realm.
Su Jin explained that as Ye Hua's side consort, she was under constant scrutiny and could not make rash moves, but Miao Qing had the freedom to act. Separately, Winged Monarch Li Jing went to Kunlun Void to seek Si Yin from Zi Lan, but Zi Lan, distrusting Li Jing, refused him. Later, a Heavenly Tribe official reported to Ye Hua that the Winged Tribe was extensively searching for High Immortal Si Yin, carrying drawings made by Li Jing himself.
Upon seeing the drawing, Ye Hua realized with a shock that Si Yin was none other than Bai Qian. He pondered why she had taken Mo Yuan's celestial body, disappeared for so many years, and avoided her senior disciples. In the Winged Realm, Li Jing confronted Xuan Nü, demanding to know the true identity of Si Yin, whom he claimed was a woman from the Fox Tribe.
Xuan Nü, having long believed Si Yin to be a man from the Heavenly Tribe and still infatuated with him, was shocked. Li Jing insisted he had long known Si Yin was a woman, just not her Fox Tribe origin. Realizing that Si Yin was none other than Bai Qian, Xuan Nü was overcome with fury and jealousy. She raged, convinced that Bai Qian, who already had Ye Hua, was stealing Li Jing from her.
Then, a thought sparked in her mind: Mo Yuan's celestial body. Transforming herself into Bai Qian's likeness, Xuan Nü traveled to Qing Qiu. Mi Gu found her behavior uncharacteristically strange, noting her unusual questions, her affectionate address of Ah Li as "son" (which Bai Qian never did), and her failure to greet Mo Yuan as Bai Qian always did. Xuan Nü inquired about Mo Yuan's whereabouts and, upon learning he was in the Splendid Flame Cave, rushed there.
Mi Gu, discerning her true identity and remembering her past betrayal, exposed her as Xuan Nü. Xuan Nü retaliated by using an illusion spell to immobilize Mi Gu, then ordered him to bring Ah Li. In the mortal realm, Bai Qian, now disguised as Yuan Zhen's Daoist teacher, pondered how to alter his fate, specifically how to prevent him from saving the beautiful woman. She realized that allowing him to fall in love would only complicate things further.
That night, Ye Hua unexpectedly appeared in her room. He greeted her with a smile, expressing how much he had missed her over the past few days and asking if she missed him. Though startled by his directness, Bai Qian was secretly delighted to see a familiar face in the unfamiliar mortal world. Ye Hua then said he had important news and asked if she knew who Yuan Zhen's mortal father was.
