Heavenly Monarch received a scroll detailing the Fiery Golden Lion's appearance among the rebels in the Northern Wilderness. He expressed profound disappointment in Crown Prince Ye Hua, recalling how he had arranged for Ye Hua to become a closed-door disciple of the Primeval Lord of Heaven and ascend to High Immortal status in under 20,000 years, surpassing even Mo Yuan.
However, Ye Hua's recent actions, from being injured while subduing the Fiery Golden Lion to nearly losing his life in the merpeople war, had continuously disappointed him. Heavenly Monarch sternly warned Ye Hua to cease his romantic follies, reminding him that despite being Crown Prince, he had not yet received the official seal or the support of the various feudal princes.
Ye Hua, deeply remorseful, requested to personally lead the army to pacify the Northern Wilderness uprising, vowing to return victorious and accepting that this was his last chance. Heavenly Monarch made it clear that if Ye Hua failed again, not only he but everyone in Pure Wutong Palace would be severely punished. Heavenly Monarch then brought up the issue of the mortal woman in Ye Hua's palace, Su Su, stating she had claimed to have been framed.
Ye Hua quickly explained that Su Su was unaware of anything and had already been confined as punishment. However, Heavenly Monarch insisted on a thorough investigation and declared that all the divine maids in Pure Wutong Palace would be replaced that very night and handed over to Lord of Puhua for interrogation.
After Heavenly Monarch departed, Lian Song privately cautioned Ye Hua that his Father Monarch was seizing this opportunity to remove all loyal divine maids from his palace, advising Ye Hua to be extra vigilant. Winged Monarch Li Jing then presented himself before Ye Hua and Lian Song, offering to lead his troops to pacify the Northern Wilderness uprising, as his older brother, Li Yuan, was responsible for the chaos.
Ye Hua acknowledged Li Jing's loyalty to the Heavenly Tribe but questioned whether the Winged Realm soldiers would truly be willing to fight against their former First Prince. Li Jing explained that most soldiers who opposed the Heavenly Tribe had been eliminated during his 70,000 years as Winged Monarch.
He admitted to a "selfish motive": since Ye Hua had been injured by the Merpeople Tribe, who were considered a sub-tribe of the Winged Tribe, he wished to use this opportunity to pacify the rebellion, hoping that in return, the Heavenly Tribe would no longer implicate the Winged Realm for the past Long Sea Battle.
Ye Hua found Li Jing's reasoning sound and agreed that if the Winged Realm achieved victory, he would no longer pursue their connection to the Merpeople Tribe. They sealed the agreement. Meanwhile, Su Su, confined in Courtyard of Moonlight, felt the days drag on, even more difficult than her time on Junji Mountain. Nai Nai suggested she deliver nourishing soup to Ye Hua at Purple Morning Hall to mend their strained relationship.
As Su Su left her chambers, she suddenly heard Su Jin's voice emanating from the copper mirror Ye Hua had given her. Su Jin was tearfully questioning Ye Hua, asking if he had only married a mortal to spite her for marrying Heavenly Monarch.
She cried that no woman in the Four Seas and Eight Wildernesses could resist Heavenly Monarch's favor and insisted that Ye Hua still loved her, claiming he only called the mortal "Su Su" because her own name contained the character "Su." Overwhelmed with shock and despair, Su Su dropped the soup, which shattered, and returned to her chambers, weeping inconsolably. Before his departure for the Northern Wilderness, Ye Hua visited Su Jin's palace to retrieve the copper mirror.
Su Jin feigned innocence, claiming she had forgotten she was holding onto it. Ye Hua, his face impassive, took the mirror and left without another word. He then went to Courtyard of Moonlight to speak with Su Su. Seeing her distress, he asked if anything was wrong, but Su Su, deeply hurt by Su Jin's words, merely asked why he was there.
Ye Hua informed her that he would be away in the Northern Wilderness for at least six months but promised they could communicate daily through the copper mirror. Su Su, still pretending indifference, told him she was unwell and would not see him off. Ye Hua, misinterpreting her coldness as anger over his departure, simply told her to take care of herself and left, leaving a deeper misunderstanding between them.
Back in the Winged Realm, Li Jing announced his intention to personally lead troops to capture Li Yuan. His generals voiced concerns, noting that Li Yuan was the former First Prince and was rallying support under the banner of avenging the previous Winged Monarch. They worried that fighting alongside the Heavenly Tribe would make them unpopular and potentially incite unrest among their sub-tribes.
Li Jing acknowledged the whispers that he was too close to the Heavenly Tribe and had forgotten his father's revenge. However, he asserted that he sought peace to ensure a good life for his people and refused to see another bloody battlefield like 70,000 years ago. He swiftly dismissed all dissent, declaring that he would depart with his troops that very night. Meanwhile, Xuan Nü, worried about her unborn child, sought out a witch doctor.
She inquired about an herb from the Winged Realm she had heard about in Green Hill that could aid birth, and a spell that could heal a sick child. The witch doctor confirmed the existence of such methods but warned they were against Heaven's will, leading to severe retribution. Xuan Nü, however, dismissed the warning, stating she only believed in herself.
She confessed that this child was her only hope to retain Li Jing, who had not even touched her on their wedding night 70,000 years ago. She reasoned that even a sick child would evoke pity from him, prompting him to visit her, which was better than his constant neglect. She vowed to give birth to the child no matter the cost.
The Northern Wilderness proved to be a challenging terrain, dominated by waterways, making it easy for rebel soldiers to disperse and hide. With no prior wars in the region, the Heavenly Tribe forces were at a disadvantage. Li Jing suggested involving High God Bai Zhen, noting that Bai Zhen, as Bai Qian's fourth brother, had a manor in Xiazhou of the Northern Wilderness and would be familiar with the area.
Given Ye Hua's engagement to Bai Qian, it was deemed a natural fit. Lian Song added that it was fortunate the North Sea Water Monarch had withdrawn his previous engagement to Bai Qian, allowing Ye Hua to now benefit from the connection. Ye Hua approached Bai Zhen, who initially put on a formal front but soon softened, acknowledging Ye Hua as his "Young Fifth's future husband."
He stated he would help solely for Bai Qian's sake, not because Ye Hua was the Crown Prince of the Heavenly Tribe. Bai Zhen promised to deliver a detailed map of the Northern Wilderness terrain to Ye Hua's battle tent within three months. He issued a stern warning: if Ye Hua ever mistreated Bai Qian, Bai Zhen would personally intervene to settle the score. Soon after, Zhe Yan visited Bai Zhen. They both expressed concern over Bai Qian's unknown whereabouts.
Zhe Yan, however, reassured Bai Zhen, revealing that he had observed the stars the previous night and found that Bai Qian was not only safe but that her "Red Comet" had moved, signifying she had fallen in love. They agreed that if Bai Qian had found someone she truly loved, they would simply withdraw the engagement to the Heavenly Tribe, noting that the Heavenly Tribe had already withdrawn an engagement from Green Hill once before.
They decided that the help they were providing Ye Hua with the Northern Wilderness map could serve as compensation for a future withdrawal of the engagement. In the Celestial Palace, Fengjiu, in her fox form, continued to secretly follow Donghua. She found comfort in his care but worried about his reaction if he discovered her deception. One evening, believing Donghua to be deep in his cups, Fengjiu transformed into her human form.
She confessed her struggles to repay his kindness and, in an impulsive moment, leaned in and kissed him. Realizing the gravity of her action, she fled. Later, in Donghua's study, while in her fox form, she heard Si Ming and Cheng Yu discussing how to cultivate into an immortal. Fengjiu internally wished to stay by Donghua's side forever. Donghua, perhaps sensing her thoughts, remarked that for an immortal, there was no "forever," and that "this life is long enough."
During the months Ye Hua was away, Su Su's pregnancy progressed. Nai Nai tried to lift her spirits with handmade lanterns, but Su Su remained melancholic. Meanwhile, Fengjiu, in her fox form, found herself drawn to Su Su, thinking she bore a striking resemblance to her Aunt Bai Qian. She began to secretly visit Courtyard of Moonlight to keep Su Su company. During these visits, Su Su would often speak her thoughts aloud to the little fox.
Having taken Su Jin's words to heart, Su Su came to believe that Ye Hua did not love her. However, she resolved that regardless of his feelings, they had sworn an oath to the Eastern Wilderness and were husband and wife. She clung to the hope that her unwavering love would one day win him over. Three months later, Bai Zhen fulfilled his promise, delivering the Northern Wilderness terrain map to Ye Hua's camp.
His messenger conveyed Bai Zhen's words, explaining that the Nine-Tailed Fox Tribe was not adept at warfare, so this was the extent of his help. The messenger reiterated Bai Zhen's warning that if Empress Bai Qian of Green Hill were to suffer any grievances in the Heavenly Tribe in the future, Bai Zhen would personally come to argue the matter with Ye Hua.
Li Jing then stepped forward, offering his 100,000 soldiers, who were skilled in water routes, to serve as the vanguard. He confidently guaranteed that within three months, he would corner the Northern Wilderness rebels, leaving them no escape. He requested that when Ye Hua's forces intercepted the rebels, Li Yuan be delivered to him so he could personally finish off his traitorous older brother. Ye Hua granted his request.
