Eat Run Love Recap

Episode 1 Recap

Tuesday, April 9, 2024. The air quality was excellent. In the early morning of a bustling metropolis, sunlight gently sprinkled onto the streets. Gan Yang, a man who had ingrained discipline into his bones, started his day as usual with a morning run, using sweat to awaken a new day. After his run, he would carefully prepare a nutritious breakfast for himself—eating well, running well—then head to the office to work diligently, kicking off another busy day.

One day, while running along his usual route and having completed ten kilometers, Gan Yang received a notification from his watch that he had reached his goal for the day. He stopped running, glanced at a text on his phone—the sender had already boarded the plane and they would be meeting soon. A smile appeared on Gan Yang’s lips as he got into a car that had been following him and left.

Gan Yang was heading to the airport to pick up his good friend. Upon receiving a text that his friend had landed and wanted him to grab a coffee, Gan Yang got up and bought a latte. He casually placed his book on the seat he had just vacated, only for it to be taken by Ding Zhitong, who happened to be there too.

Gan Yang went to the service desk to look for his book, but upon opening the one he found, although the cover was the same, the bookmark and handwritten notes inside clearly weren’t his. He hurried to chase after her but still missed Ding Zhitong. Meanwhile, his good friend Wang Yi got off the plane and excitedly headed to the café, only to find no sign of Gan Yang.

A phone call revealed he had gone to the underground parking lot. Walking out of the airport, Wang Yi scolded Gan Yang for not coming to pick her up properly—he hadn’t even gotten her a coffee and had her running around the parking lot. But Gan Yang’s mind was entirely preoccupied with Ding Zhitong. To silence Wang Yi’s nagging, he promptly assigned her a pile of work and rushed off.

This time, Ding Zhitong had traveled from Hong Kong especially to discuss financing with Qin Chang. On the other side, Gan Yang’s secretary was complaining to him with visible frustration: it had already been made clear in a previous meeting that the company would not be pursuing financing, yet now Qin Chang was privately negotiating with clients. Hearing this, Gan Yang stormed into Qin Chang’s office in a rage.

Qin Chang, having caught wind of Gan Yang’s approach, quickly sent Ding Zhitong away. Suspecting that the company’s top executive might be meeting with Qin Chang, Ding Zhitong turned back, only to be stopped at the door by the secretary. She and her assistant Li Jiaxin had no choice but to wait anxiously outside. After waiting impatiently for a while, Ding Zhitong went to the restroom.

During that time, Gan Yang and the secretary exited, causing the two to miss each other once again. Still undeterred, Ding Zhitong took Li Jiaxin to enjoy some local Shanghai cuisine. Li Jiaxin mistakenly thought she was from Shanghai. Ding Zhitong laughed and explained that her familiarity with the city came from the time she and Gan Yang were dating—they had shared many beautiful memories and visited countless places here.

She walked into a convenience store full of memories and, out of habit, folded a paper crane. Later, Gan Yang also came to this same store, saw the crane, and guessed that Ding Zhitong had been there. That night, Ding Zhitong stayed over at a friend’s house—and it just so happened that Gan Yang also lived there. Their habits remained unchanged: sipping red wine, snacking on cherry tomatoes, and reading their favorite books.

Ding Zhitong opened her book, only to find it wasn’t hers. The bookmark inside instantly reminded her of Gan Yang. At Gan Yang’s home, the photo of him and Ding Zhitong was still placed prominently. He quietly stared into the distance, his thoughts drifting away. The next day, Ding Zhitong brought a toy to her best friend’s home. Her friend’s daughter, Yulin, loved the gift and sweetly thanked her.

Ding Zhitong couldn’t help but feel a tinge of envy toward her friend Song Mingmei for having such a lovely daughter, while she herself remained a single woman of “advanced age.

” Song Mingmei, while setting her up for a blind date, joked that the name of her current financing client was the same as Gan Yang’s and teased that perhaps Ding Zhitong still hadn’t gotten over him, which was why she came all the way from Hong Kong to talk about financing. Ding Zhitong firmly stated that she only harbored resentment toward Gan Yang—nothing more. To get closer to President Gan, Ding Zhitong deliberately joined a show organized by Langteng.

The program tested heart rate responses. As soon as she put on the device, she saw Gan Yang walking in, and her heartbeat instantly spiked. Gan Yang looked around after entering, and when their eyes met, they stared at each other for a long time without speaking. Everyone participating in the show kept moving continuously. Ding Zhitong was not one to back down and kept up with Gan Yang in the competition, but due to fatigue, she nearly fell.

Gan Yang rushed to steady her, and her heart rate shot up. Their minds simultaneously drifted back to their university days. Ding Zhitong, busy packing in her dorm room to head to class, was being pestered by her best friend Song Mingmei to take a love compatibility test to see if she could find her soulmate. Song Mingmei was particularly curious about what this “A-Gan” person looked like.

The test results claimed they were indeed soulmates, and that “A-Gan” had the shadow of someone very handsome. But Ding Zhitong didn’t believe any of it—how could a software determine a soulmate? That shadow was just a back view; it gave no indication of what he really looked like. For a girl like Ding Zhitong, who won a scholarship every year, this meant nothing. Her mind was filled only with studies and part-time jobs.

After leaving the dorm, she immediately uninstalled the app—it was just taking up storage on her phone. On her bike, heading to her part-time job, Ding Zhitong unexpectedly crossed paths with Gan Yang, who was out jogging. Their eyes met, and both felt a sudden attraction. But as Ding Zhitong was in a hurry, she didn’t greet him. Gan Yang, however, kept staring at her retreating figure, already captivated. It wasn’t until Wang Yi showed up that he snapped out of it.

Episode 2 Recap

Ding Zhitong rushed on her bike to the convenience store, where she worked part-time. The girl from the previous shift was tidying up the shelves and had just put out a strange new drink. She was puzzled that so many people, like Ding Zhitong, liked this odd beverage. Ding Zhitong responded with a smile, quickly tied up her hair, and took over the shift. Just then, the phone rang—someone had left their keys behind while shopping.

Ding Zhitong found the keychain on the shelf, with a USB drive containing important documents, and the caller asked her to deliver it. Ding Zhitong wanted her colleague to do it, but the colleague had a date after work, so Ding Zhitong agreed and asked her to keep an eye on the store for a while. The person who called was none other than Gan Yang.

Knowing the item was important for a competition, Ding Zhitong quickly hailed a taxi to the event venue. However, fate had other plans—she got stuck in a serious traffic jam. On the phone, Gan Yang introduced himself as a finance major from Tsinghua-Peking University, asking for her help and promising a reward. Upon realizing he was an alumnus, Ding Zhitong became anxious, got out of the taxi, and ran toward the venue.

Before Ding Zhitong arrived, Gan Yang had already started his product presentation on stage. The product was a pair of shoes, each word of his speech filled with the team's wisdom and effort. Suddenly, the doors opened—Gan Yang saw Ding Zhitong, and a bigger smile appeared on his face. Her timely arrival was like a blessing. Wang Yi quickly took the documents from her and projected them on the screen just in time.

With the support of the materials, Gan Yang and his team delivered a flawless presentation and eventually won first place. Gan Yang’s gaze never left Ding Zhitong, who was sitting in the audience. Only when she heard the applause did she remove her headphones and join in the clapping. After the event, Gan Yang handed the prepared reward to Ding Zhitong, his eyes full of gratitude.

During their conversation, he was surprised to find out they both liked the same drink. This small coincidence felt like an invisible red string tying them together. Wang Yi, observing nearby, had expected Ding Zhitong to be like other girls and fall for Gan Yang’s charm, eagerly adding him as a friend. To her shock, Ding Zhitong did not swoon but rationally asked for a delivery fee. After her shift, Ding Zhitong returned to school.

Feng Sheng, who had a crush on her, lied about snagging a cheap takeaway meal just to bring it to her. He had actually saved up to buy it by skimping on his own meals. Back in the dorm, her roommates were passionately discussing Gan Yang, the campus heartthrob—handsome, from a good family, and extremely talented. News of his recent award win was all over the internet.

Song Mingmei excitedly announced a celebration the next day for their app surpassing ten thousand users, hinting that Ding Zhitong’s matched soulmate might show up and insisted she attend. Fate turned again—Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang met once more at school. Though in different years, they had heard about each other. Ding Zhitong was a top student who won scholarships every year and was admired by many male students, but her heart was fully set on academics.

Gan Yang seized the chance to add her on WeChat. Later, Ding Zhitong noticed his profile picture looked oddly familiar, stirring an inexplicable sense of déjà vu. Song Mingmei hurried back to campus only to learn that the professor who was supposed to check her attendance had been replaced by Professor Qin Chang. She panicked and lied, saying she’d stayed up all night working on assignments and had no choice but to ask someone to check in for her.

But Qin Chang was unmoved. At the celebration for Mòqì Technology’s software, Gan Yang, curious about who his matched soulmate might be, showed up. When he signed his name as “A-Gan,” Song Mingmei was shocked and immediately realized he was Ding Zhitong’s soulmate. To test their compatibility in real life, she hid Ding Zhitong’s identity and observed their interaction. Surprisingly, they shared the same favorite color, music, and hobbies. Their astonishing compatibility drew admiration from everyone.

Ding Zhitong also correctly guessed that Gan Yang was A-Gan but pretended not to be “Bao Fu. ” Gan Yang told her it didn’t matter who Bao Fu was—what mattered was their matching results. After the party, Ding Zhitong invited Gan Yang to discuss the copyright issue of the shoe design. Gan Yang stated that he didn’t plan to sell it.

Ding Zhitong speculated that he wanted to use it to upgrade his family business and guessed his parents might not support the idea yet. She recommended he talk to her senior, Song Weiwei, whose family was in the same industry. When Ding Zhitong returned, Song Mingmei excitedly pressed her for dating details. Ding Zhitong clarified that it wasn’t a date; she only wanted to talk about copyright, and her only goal now was to make money.

Song Mingmei reminded her that tomorrow was Gan Yang’s birthday. Alone later, Ding Zhitong couldn’t help but drift into a moment of reflection. Ding Zhitong continued working at the convenience store. That day, her senior Song Weiwei came by with part of the payment to thank her—after Ding Zhitong’s persuasion, Gan Yang had changed his mind and agreed to sell the shoe’s copyright. Ding Zhitong refused the money.

Seeing Song Weiwei’s awkward expression, she suggested they have a meal together instead, which made Song Weiwei smile. Gan Yang pretended to go on a night run, but in reality, he braved the rain to see Ding Zhitong at the convenience store. She was focused on calculating the day’s sales while Gan Yang stood outside the window, gazing at her with a smile he couldn’t suppress.

When Ding Zhitong looked up, she saw him standing outside and instinctively checked the time on her phone—it was almost midnight. Gan Yang nervously tried to fix his messy hair when Ding Zhitong suddenly appeared behind him. Seeing him soaked and knowing it was his birthday, she had prepared a cake for him. She wished him a happy birthday. Gan Yang hurriedly explained he had been out running and only took shelter because it started to rain.

Ding Zhitong saw through his excuse but didn’t expose him. Instead, she used a lighter in place of a candle, letting him make a wish. Gan Yang curiously asked why she always wore only one earbud. Ding Zhitong handed him the other earbud, and Gan Yang realized it was broken—no wonder she always wore just one. They sat together on the steps outside, eating cake and listening to music. Rain drizzled gently around them.

Suddenly, Gan Yang directly asked if Ding Zhitong was Bao Fu. She smiled in response, a silent confirmation. Then Gan Yang asked if she’d be willing to run with him.

Episode 3 Recap

Gan Yang mustered up his courage and eagerly invited Ding Zhitong to go running together. Ding Zhitong looked at him in surprise and declined with the excuse that she was too busy with work to have time for jogging. Gan Yang told Wang Yi about the incident, and Wang Yi couldn't help bursting into laughter, teasing Gan Yang for his unusual way of expressing his feelings—no wonder he got rejected.

Still, he was happy that it was Gan Yang's first time being turned down. Gan Yang kept imagining what it would be like to run side by side with Ding Zhitong under the morning glow, sharing laughter on a sunlit path. A smile unknowingly crept onto his face. At the same time, as Ding Zhitong was reviewing, scenes of Gan Yang inviting her to go running also flashed through her mind. The next day, Ding Zhitong had an important interview.

To present herself well despite there being no hot water in the dorm, she had to make do with a quick cold wash. To make matters worse, her period had just started. Song Mingmei, worried about her, suggested they go buy some painkillers together, but Ding Zhitong was too anxious to get to the interview first.

Feng Sheng had agreed to meet Ding Zhitong at the bus stop but still showed up early to bring her a nutritious breakfast and accompanied her on the bus to the interview location. Just then, Gan Yang drove over, claiming he was also heading to the interview and could give her a ride. However, Ding Zhitong didn’t want to owe him a favor. Feng Sheng, clearly hostile toward Gan Yang, coldly told him he could leave.

Ding Zhitong, worried about hurting Gan Yang’s feelings, quickly explained that the bus went directly to the location and was very convenient. She then got on the free bus with Feng Sheng. Along the way, Ding Zhitong felt extremely unwell due to catching a chill the night before. She was dizzy and weak, and the symptoms didn’t improve even upon arriving at the interview site.

Meanwhile, Gan Yang had been trailing the bus in his car and noticed that Ding Zhitong seemed unwell. After asking, he found out she was in pain because of her period. Anxious, he went out of his way to buy her medicine. Since he wasn’t sure if her hands and feet were cold, he bought a wide variety of medications, including a fast-acting painkiller specifically for menstrual cramps.

Seeing the pile of medicines in Gan Yang’s hands, Ding Zhitong was deeply moved. Just then, it was time for Ding Zhitong’s interview. To help her feel better, Gan Yang pretended to be in a rush and asked to cut in line for the interview. Once he got permission, he helped Ding Zhitong interview early so she could have time to recover.

Feng Sheng, meanwhile, privately asked someone he knew to find out if Gan Yang had gotten in through connections, only to learn that Gan Yang had passed with excellent results just like Ding Zhitong. After taking the medicine and resting, Ding Zhitong’s condition improved and she confidently entered the interview room. Things went smoothly at first, but perhaps due to excessive nerves, she suddenly fainted during the process. Gan Yang, extremely worried, carefully brought her back to school.

He wanted to take her back to her dorm to rest, but Ding Zhitong politely refused and sincerely thanked him for his help. That night, Feng Sheng brought Ding Zhitong some medicine, but from Song Mingmei, he learned that Gan Yang had already checked on her first. On the other side, Gan Yang clutched his phone, waiting anxiously for a message from Ding Zhitong.

In the middle of the night, she woke up and replied, making Gan Yang overjoyed—especially since they had agreed to meet the next day. He was so excited he couldn’t sleep. Song Mingmei, gossiping, asked how Gan Yang carried her when she fainted and teased that Ding Zhitong should look at the food in front of her, weigh herself, and regret not having lost weight earlier.

The next day, Gan Yang dressed up and arrived early at the girls’ dormitory to wait for Ding Zhitong. At that moment, Director Hu stormed over and harshly reprimanded Gan Yang, questioning why he had asked off-topic questions during the interview the day before. Only then did Gan Yang realize it was those questions that had caused him to fail the interview.

Ding Zhitong guessed he had done it on purpose to buy time for her to recover and felt even more warmth toward him. Ding Zhitong specifically invited Gan Yang to a meal at a restaurant. Somewhat embarrassed, she explained that she didn’t have enough money for a hospital visit or eating out and hoped for his understanding. Song Mingmei rushed into the classroom just as the bell rang and noticed that Teacher Qin Chang was on the summit attendance list.

That evening, she treated her roommates to hotpot, hoping they could give her ideas on how to convince Qin Chang to let her attend the summit with him. Back at the dorm, a photo of Ding Zhitong dining with Gan Yang spread like wildfire on the campus network. Some even maliciously slandered her.

Her roommates demanded an explanation, so Ding Zhitong clarified that they had only met during the interview and that she and Gan Yang were from completely different worlds. This interview was crucial to her, but perhaps for Gan Yang, it was just a casual experience. Her roommates saw how serious she was and quickly said they were just joking.

In the restroom, Ding Zhitong stared at herself in the mirror, constantly reminding herself not to forget her original goal—this wasn’t about falling in love. After seeing the post, Gan Yang immediately had the poster take it down, knowing it was his presence that had brought her trouble. Ding Zhitong received a voice message from him and hurriedly put on her earphones to avoid her roommates hearing.

In the message, Gan Yang apologized and said he didn’t want her to be hurt because of him. Ding Zhitong replied with a thank you. While on a business trip in Hong Kong, Gan Yang remembered that Ding Zhitong admired a famous landmark there. He took photos and sent them to her. Ding Zhitong gently touched the image, and when Gan Yang called via video, she instinctively tidied her hair before answering.

He told her he had already made a wish for her at the bronze bull, hoping she would pass her interview smoothly. Ding Zhitong thanked him and joked that she would touch the bronze bull through the screen after hanging up. But after the call ended, she enlarged the photo and gently stroked Gan Yang’s face, encouraging herself to become truly wealthy and surpass him.

On the bus, Ding Zhitong folded a paper crane, a smile playing at her lips, as if thinking about Gan Yang in the distance. Meanwhile, Gan Yang continued his routine of jogging and designing shoes. Whenever Ding Zhitong felt down, she would ride the bus to clear her mind—so often that even the driver recognized her. Today was no different, except that she received a letter from Gan Yang, asking where she was.

Episode 4 Recap

The bus reached its final stop. Ding Zhitong got off from the back door, then reboarded through the front door. Repeatedly riding the bus brought her a sense of peace and joy. When she saw Gan Yang’s message asking where she was, Ding Zhitong didn’t rush to reply. Instead, she held her phone tightly in her palm, the smile on her lips growing wider. At the bus stop, Gan Yang sat waiting with a bouquet of flowers.

When Ding Zhitong got off the bus, the two of them sat on a bench inside the bus, chatting. Gan Yang shared that running along the streets and rivers always relieved his stress, just like how riding the bus helped Ding Zhitong clear her mind. Neither expected they had this in common. Originally, Ding Zhitong had agreed to hang out with Gan Yang, but plans couldn’t keep up with change. A phone call reminded her to quickly submit her thesis.

She rushed back, and Gan Yang offered to drive her. He insisted that this time she wasn’t allowed to calculate the fuel cost. The two exchanged smiles and hurried back to campus. Back at the dorm, Ding Zhitong’s roommates saw her return with the bouquet and couldn’t help teasing her about her relationship with Gan Yang.

But Ding Zhitong didn’t admit anything—she just said that if he was still giving her flowers five years from now, then maybe she’d consider it. The next day, Ding Zhitong went to a farm to experience rural life and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nature. Coincidentally, Gan Yang was also visiting the same place. Even though they came from very different family backgrounds, they shared surprising similarities in interests and values, as if they were kindred spirits.

At a convenience store, Ding Zhitong happened to overhear Li Fei and another person criticizing Gan Yang behind his back. Angered, she devised a plan—she deliberately spilled water on Li Fei, exposing his fake designer brand. Humiliated, Li Fei shoved her. At that moment, Gan Yang happened to walk by. Without hesitation, he stepped in to protect Ding Zhitong. Because of Gan Yang’s status, Li Fei had no choice but to apologize.

Afterward, Gan Yang apologized to Ding Zhitong, and she honestly told him the truth about Li Fei. Rather than being upset, Gan Yang was secretly pleased by her concern for him. Song Mingmei, in her determination to attend the summit, went to great lengths. She bought drinks for Qin Chang and falsely claimed it was to thank him for helping her with her studies. Later, at a bathhouse, Gan Yang overheard Li Fei and his friend badmouthing him again.

This confirmed what Ding Zhitong had said, and Gan Yang promptly fired them, saying he wouldn’t be needing their help with shoe testing anymore. In Qin Chang’s class, Song Mingmei, who usually arrived late, not only came early this time but also took the initiative to distribute study materials to her classmates. Qin Chang then pulled out the invitation to the investment summit and announced that whoever won the mock competition would receive the invitation.

After class, Song Mingmei asked if Qin Chang was deliberately making things difficult for her. Upon learning he was treating everyone equally, she declared determinedly that she would earn that invitation herself. Late at night, Ding Zhitong was walking through a dark area on her way back from a part-time job. A shadowy figure and a ladder on the roadside startled her, and she fell and got injured. Still shaken, she returned to the dorm to treat her wounds.

The next day, Wang Yi opened the fridge and found that the jam he had made with care was missing—as expected, Gan Yang had taken it to please Ding Zhitong. Gan Yang noticed her injured hand and, upon learning it was due to a broken streetlight, went that night with Wang Yi to "catch ghosts" and investigate. That night, Ding Zhitong once again passed through the same path.

Just as Li Fei was about to confront her, Gan Yang and Wang Yi dragged him aside. They showed him surveillance evidence, warning him not to seek revenge again. Still, Gan Yang couldn’t resist scolding him. The next day, worried that Ding Zhitong might be afraid, Gan Yang and Wang Yi deliberately talked loudly along that path to ease her fear. But Ding Zhitong spotted them, and Wang Yi awkwardly made his exit.

While walking with Gan Yang, Ding Zhitong casually asked if his shoe designs could make people who don’t like running fall in love with it. This sparked Gan Yang’s inspiration. He hoped Ding Zhitong could be the first person to test his shoes. The next day, they met at a café to discuss interview strategies, but Ding Zhitong’s laptop broke down.

Gan Yang volunteered to fix it, suspecting the problem was with the hard drive and saying he would need to open it up. Ding Zhitong thanked him sincerely. Gan Yang brought the laptop back but didn’t actually know how to repair it. He prepared Wang Yi’s favorite steak and urged him to check the laptop in the dorm.

Wang Yi, after inspecting it, called it a relic and complained that Gan Yang’s way of pursuing a girl was way too unconventional—others send flowers, while Gan Yang always does something unusual. Even though Wang Yi didn’t know how to fix it either, he suggested taking it to a professional. The repair technician said the laptop was too outdated and could only be used temporarily. Gan Yang immediately asked them to keep the exterior and replace all the internal components.

When Ding Zhitong saw how fast her laptop had become, she couldn’t believe it was still hers. She offered to treat Gan Yang to a meal at the cafeteria, but Gan Yang said that wasn’t sincere enough—he wanted to watch a movie. Ding Zhitong was hesitant about the ticket prices, but Gan Yang jokingly said student tickets were half-price, making it sound more reasonable, so she agreed. Just as they arrived at the cinema, Ding Zhitong received a call from school.

She was told to pick up a court summons—it was for her uncle, and if not handled properly, it might affect her graduation. She quickly apologized to Gan Yang and rushed back.

Episode 5 Recap

Ding Zhitong sat on the bus ride back, looking at the court summons in her hand and thinking about what her teacher had said. Her uncle had deliberately sent the summons to the school, clearly with an ulterior motive. But if she didn’t handle it properly, it could affect her graduation. Years ago, when her father was ill, her uncle had lent them money for treatment.

But her father eventually passed away, and her uncle resorted to all sorts of methods to aggressively demand repayment. Ding Zhitong had even considered quitting school, but her mother insisted she continue studying. She was determined to repay the debt no matter what—it couldn’t be allowed to affect Ding Zhitong’s future. Gan Yang had been constantly worried about Ding Zhitong, afraid something might have happened to her. She didn’t answer his calls.

Though she saw his name on the screen, Ding Zhitong was sure she wasn’t ready for a relationship. What she needed to do was to focus on earning money with everything she had. She called every relative and finally borrowed money from her cousin-aunt, promising to pay monthly interest. Her cousin-aunt was pleased but warned her not to let her son He Jin know—otherwise, he’d be tempted to gamble it away again.

Ding Zhitong called her mother and claimed she had made over 3,000 this time and performed well. She also said she would repay part of the money to her uncle and told her mother not to worry about money. When she overheard someone buying food in the background, she realized her mother had gone out to set up a street stall behind her back. She sternly warned her mother to go home immediately. Her mother hurriedly agreed.

Feng Sheng noticed that Ding Zhitong’s computer had all new components and realized it was Gan Yang who had helped her fix it. He sought out Gan Yang and repaid 2,000 yuan on Ding Zhitong’s behalf. Gan Yang misunderstood this as Ding Zhitong trying to draw a line between them. Ding Zhitong also learned from Wang Yi that Gan Yang had replaced the computer parts for her.

She ran to find Gan Yang to repay the money, only to learn that Feng Sheng had already paid on her behalf. Ding Zhitong made it clear that she didn’t like owing anyone money. Gan Yang asked her whether he counted as "anyone. " Ding Zhitong said nothing and walked away. She later found Feng Sheng to return the money and even contacted her cousin-aunt in advance to postpone her repayment.

Her cousin-aunt, annoyed, warned her that there would be no next time. At the cafeteria, while getting food, Song Mingmei complained to Ding Zhitong that she hated Qin Chang the most and didn’t want to attend his class. She had no idea Qin Chang was standing right behind them and heard everything. Song Mingmei tried to act natural and even offered to treat Qin Chang to a meal, but he left in silence.

When Ding Zhitong was alone, she couldn’t help but reflect on everything that had happened between her and Gan Yang. She worried that her words might have been too harsh and might have hurt him. Both Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong received notifications from their interview units to arrive in an hour. As Gan Yang drove with Wang Yi, he saw Ding Zhitong waiting by the roadside for a ride. Without saying anything, he drove off. Mr.

Zhan was clearly persuaded by Gan Yang but didn’t show it at the time. This made Wang Yi quite excited, just waiting for the final result. Feng Sheng accompanied Ding Zhitong to her interview company. As the two of them left, Ma Wende, standing on the upper floor, saw them and called his assistant Xiao Chen to ask for Ding Zhitong’s resume.

While Ding Zhitong was working at a convenience store, Gan Yang stood outside under an umbrella, smiling as he watched her. Perhaps this was the only way to ease the pain of missing her. In his mind, the image of Ding Zhitong celebrating his birthday played over and over. When Ding Zhitong got off work, she was worried about how to get home, until she saw an umbrella placed outside. Delighted, she took it and left.

At the same time, Qin Chang received a call from a friend, praising the intern Song Mingmei from Sunshine Ranch. She had exposed all the fake data and didn’t mind getting dirty during the fieldwork—she even cleaned horse manure herself. But since it was raining, the friend worried she wouldn’t be able to get back.

Although Qin Chang scoffed at the concern, he still drove out and pretended to run into Song Mingmei at the intersection, offering her a ride home. When Ding Zhitong hiked to the designated mountain location for her second interview, she happened to run into Ma Wende. He invited her to ride with him, then stopped the car midway, saying he wanted to promote her, but he started making inappropriate physical advances.

He hinted that it was hard to go far fighting alone. But Ding Zhitong firmly stated that she could walk her own path up the mountain. The interviewer on the mountain turned out to be Ma Wende himself, and the interview was actually a writing test. He even deliberately damaged Ding Zhitong’s tent. She protested it was unfair, but Ma Wende said this was part of the assessment. If she wasn’t happy, she could quit the interview.

Ding Zhitong used a vine to tie and secure the broken tent. When Ma Wende saw Lin Xiao setting up her tent, he went over to “help” and deliberately touched her body, which Ding Zhitong witnessed. She immediately accused him of workplace sexual harassment. This only angered Ma Wende further. He demanded Lin Xiao confirm whether she had been harassed. Lin Xiao denied it, and Ma Wende accused Ding Zhitong of having bad intentions and expelled her on the spot.

Ding Zhitong walked down the mountain alone in the pitch-dark night. There wasn’t a soul in sight. Just as she was gripped by fear, Gan Yang arrived in his car. He had heard from Song Mingmei earlier that the interview location was here and, knowing Ma Wende’s bad reputation, had come out of concern. To Ding Zhitong, he looked like her savior, and her heart was filled with warmth.

She told Gan Yang everything that had happened today and expressed her understanding of Lin Xiao’s reaction. Gan Yang praised her for doing the right thing. When her stomach growled, he immediately offered to treat her to a meal. At dinner, Gan Yang folded a paper crane from a napkin—something Ding Zhitong had once taught him. He praised her bravery and said this paper crane was her reward.

Though Gan Yang couldn’t handle spicy food, he insisted on ordering the same “insanely spicy” dish as Ding Zhitong. He ended up unable to eat it at all, causing Ding Zhitong to burst out laughing and order him a new dish.

Episode 6 Recap

Ding Zhitong fell asleep in the car. When she woke up, she saw Gan Yang sitting on the hillside and curiously asked why he brought her there. Gan Yang told Ding Zhitong that when he was fixing her computer last time, he had thought about finding a place full of stars for her to see. The sky here was filled with brilliant stars.

Ding Zhitong loved it and recalled how she used to stargaze with her parents when she was young—but her father had passed away. Seeing Ding Zhitong upset, Gan Yang stood up and began shouting loudly, encouraging Ding Zhitong to express her feelings loudly too. Ding Zhitong shouted out her determination to work hard and let her mother live a good life.

She believed that in a few years, Gan Yang would be a successful sneaker entrepreneur, and Gan Yang believed she would be a financially independent strong woman. The two high-fived and shouted again. Ding Zhitong had posted about the Moqi interview, and the post was widely shared. Gan Yang called to prepare her mentally, saying he believed Moqi would call her and that she should be ready. Right after the call ended, Moqi did call.

They expressed understanding of Ding Zhitong’s feelings and believed it was a misunderstanding, asking her to delete the post. Ding Zhitong refused. Song Mingmei and Feng Sheng also tried to persuade her to delete the post, worrying it would affect her future career, thinking it was a rash act. But Ding Zhitong believed someone had to stand up, and she firmly refused to delete it.

Gan Yang came to see Ding Zhitong, not only not persuading her to delete it but strongly supporting her action. He thought a big company like Moqi would have noticed the situation and wouldn’t retaliate. Ding Zhitong was delighted. Soon the situation turned around—Moqi publicly apologized and fired Ma Wende. Just when Ding Zhitong was celebrating, Lin Xiao came to her, apologizing for not standing up that day.

Later, Ma Wende had spoken with her, and she had sent the chat record to Moqi. That was when Moqi decided to apologize. Before sending it, it was Gan Yang who encouraged Lin Xiao, giving her the courage. Ding Zhitong went to thank Gan Yang and took the initiative to suggest going running together. She officially passed Moqi’s second-round interview and was headed for the third round.

When Gan Yang heard that Ding Zhitong was going to Shanghai, he said he was also going to Shanghai for a marathon. The two agreed to meet at the station the next day. To prepare food for the trip, Gan Yang specially bought all the snacks that Ding Zhitong liked. Wang Yi saw the snacks and was moved, thinking they were for him, but in fact, they were all for Ding Zhitong—not a single item was for Wang Yi.

Wang Yi was shocked at the six-hour train ride and joked that Gan Yang nearly moved the entire supermarket. Ding Zhitong bought new headphones to share with Gan Yang and also checked train tickets, worried he might not get one. Gan Yang was also anxiously refreshing the ticketing site in his room, not letting Wang Yi hog the computer.

After successfully grabbing a ticket, Gan Yang immediately sent a photo to Ding Zhitong, who then fell asleep peacefully, looking forward to meeting him. However, the next day, after passing security, Gan Yang realized he had gone to the wrong station. It wasn’t the one where Ding Zhitong was boarding. Ding Zhitong urged him to change his ticket quickly, afraid he wouldn’t make it.

Gan Yang told her to get on the train first and then drove madly to the correct station. But he was a step too late—just as Ding Zhitong saw him running toward her, the train doors closed. Gan Yang stood there, disappointed. Ding Zhitong messaged him, reminding him to reschedule his ticket. She put on her headphones and continued her journey. Suddenly, Gan Yang called—he had appeared beside her seat.

He had checked the train’s route and bought a ticket for this train. He even exchanged his first-class seat for a second-class seat right next to hers. Gan Yang had prepared all kinds of things: pillows, motion sickness medicine, and snacks. Ding Zhitong asked if he always came this prepared when traveling. Gan Yang said this was his first time on a train.

When he went to get hot water for her, the girls in the neighboring seats all admired what a handsome and considerate boyfriend he was. To pass the time, Gan Yang had prepared some jokes in advance to tell Ding Zhitong. They laughed together the entire way, happiness written all over their faces. They listened to music Ding Zhitong had prepared and fell asleep leaning against each other.

The next morning, as the sun rose, Gan Yang used his hand to block the sunlight from hitting Ding Zhitong’s face. In her half-sleep, Ding Zhitong saw the hand and smiled. After getting off the train, Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong agreed to talk again after the interview. Gan Yang also cheered her on. At Moqi’s Shanghai headquarters, Ding Zhitong and many other candidates entered the interview hall.

Because of nerves, she went to the restroom and bumped into Feng Sheng on the way out. Feng Sheng suggested they hang out afterward. Ding Zhitong agreed and hoped they’d both get the job and stay in Shanghai, so they’d have more chances to wander around together. Gan Yang called Ding Zhitong, hoping she could come to his competition the next day—he had something important to tell her.

But Ding Zhitong had already bought a return ticket and planned to leave that afternoon. Gan Yang was a bit disappointed. They agreed to meet after she returned. He was heartbroken, afraid she’d figured out what he was going to say and left on purpose. But then Ding Zhitong messaged him, saying she’d canceled her return trip and would come to see his competition the next day. Gan Yang sent his location to Ding Zhitong. When she arrived at the hotel, she found the room rates to be very expensive.

Episode 7 Recap

Wang Yi, feeling weak from running, was searching everywhere for water. Unable to continue, he leaned against an electric pole, trembling all over. A passing girl mistook him for being electrocuted and kicked him down. Wang Yi grabbed the water bottle from her hand and gulped it down in one go. Once he calmed down, he realized he had been kicked and angrily accused the girl of being blind.

Ding Zhitong found the hotel too expensive and could only spend the night at McDonald's. While heading to the restroom, Gan Yang and Wang Yi came to buy food, narrowly missing Ding Zhitong. As they were leaving, they dropped a heart-shaped tag and also heard a ringtone that sounded like Ding Zhitong's. Gan Yang was overjoyed, believing it was a sign that his confession tomorrow would be successful.

Wang Yi rolled his eyes, thinking that men in love are all brainless. Just after they left McDonald's, Ding Zhitong came out of the restroom, and the call was from Song Mingmei. Song Mingmei speculated that Gan Yang might confess tomorrow, but Ding Zhitong didn’t believe it. The next day before the marathon started, Xu Chenxi, Gan Yang’s childhood friend, came to cheer him on. Wang Yi recognized Xu Chenxi as the "blind one.

" Gan Yang asked Xu Chenxi to bring Ding Zhitong to the finish line because he wanted to confess. Along the way, Xu Chenxi and Ding Zhitong encouraged each other. But when they finally reached the finish line, Ding Zhitong was nowhere to be seen. Gan Yang hurriedly called her, only to receive a cold response—she was already on her way back to Beijing. Gan Yang was left speechless and could only remind her to take care of herself.

Xu Chenxi, seeing Gan Yang upset, told Wang Yi to go comfort him, but Wang Yi didn’t dare to. On the train, Ding Zhitong was feeling miserable. She recalled her conversation with Xu Chenxi on the way to the finish line, where Xu Chenxi deliberately emphasized how close she and Gan Yang were.

She said Gan Yang got into making shoes because she got injured and that she came to this marathon at his invitation because he didn’t like running alone. Heartbroken, Ding Zhitong got off before reaching the finish line. When she saw messages from Gan Yang on her phone, she didn’t reply and instead turned off her phone, thinking maybe she was just imagining that Gan Yang liked her.

Feng Sheng heard from Song Mingmei that Ding Zhitong had gone to a friend’s marathon and that she’d be back the next morning. He went to the station to pick her up. He scolded her for having her phone turned off the whole time. Just as she turned it back on, Gan Yang called, worried something had happened. Feng Sheng deliberately spoke loudly so Gan Yang could hear him, which made Gan Yang feel even worse.

Feng Sheng invited Ding Zhitong to dinner. At first, she refused, but when she heard he wanted to celebrate receiving a job offer, she agreed but insisted on bringing Song Mingmei. Feng Sheng agreed on the surface, but Song Mingmei didn’t show up that evening. Feng Sheng explained that she had something to do.

Feng Sheng heard that Ding Zhitong hadn’t decided which company to join yet and immediately said he wasn’t in a hurry either, hoping to decide after she did. Ding Zhitong encouraged him to choose Dao Capital, as it suited him better. Feng Sheng felt disappointed because he knew Ding Zhitong wanted to go to Hetai, clearly meaning they’d end up in different cities. On the way back from dinner, Gan Yang showed up to find Ding Zhitong.

He had done well in the marathon and wanted to treat her to a celebratory meal, but she told him she had already eaten and angrily returned to the dorm. Gan Yang stopped Feng Sheng and asked about his relationship with Ding Zhitong. Feng Sheng deliberately said he had confessed to her. However, Gan Yang could tell from his words that there was actually nothing between them.

He also realized Feng Sheng had raised his voice at the station on purpose. The two men officially declared war on each other. The next day, Gan Yang showed up to take Ding Zhitong to school. Feng Sheng came too. Ding Zhitong decided not to go with either of them and walked off alone. Song Mingmei, wearing heels and rushing to class, accidentally fell. Just then, Qin Chang rode by on his bike.

Song Mingmei asked him to give her a lift, but Qin Chang, still upset about her previous remarks that made him a joke, refused. Song Mingmei stubbornly climbed onto the back of the bike, and Qin Chang had no choice but to keep riding. Trying to one-up each other, Feng Sheng and Gan Yang raced on their electric scooters, accidentally crashing into Qin Chang and Song Mingmei, causing Song Mingmei to get injured. Everyone ended up in the infirmary.

When Ding Zhitong heard about it, she came to scold Gan Yang, who had no choice but to leave first. Qin Chang offered to take Song Mingmei home. Since Gan Yang had left early, Ding Zhitong took Feng Sheng home. On the way, she made it clear that they could only be friends from now on. Feng Sheng understood the meaning behind her words and left, heartbroken. After returning, Gan Yang was in a bad mood and drank some alcohol.

He felt that Ding Zhitong had been treating him coldly lately and wanted to know why. Wang Yi could only support him with words. Drunk, Gan Yang went to the girls' dormitory and shouted Ding Zhitong’s name, causing the other students to laugh. He said if she didn’t come down, he would keep shouting. Helpless, Ding Zhitong came down and pulled him aside. Seeing Gan Yang was drunk, Ding Zhitong asked him directly what was wrong.

Gan Yang asked why she was ignoring him and whether he had invited Xu Chenxi to run with him. Ding Zhitong explained that Xu Chenxi was his childhood friend, but he didn’t want to run with her—he only wanted to run with Ding Zhitong. Xu Chenxi had invited him once, but she twisted her ankle that same day, and his mother scolded him, which made him really annoyed.

Gan Yang finally got the answer he was looking for: Ding Zhitong and Feng Sheng had no special relationship—they were just childhood friends too. The two stared at each other, realizing it was all one big misunderstanding. Gan Yang suddenly looked at Ding Zhitong and asked if she liked anyone. Ding Zhitong immediately blushed. Ding Zhitong wanted to call Wang Yi to take Gan Yang home, but Gan Yang grabbed her hand and acted cute, insisting she go running with him. Only after she agreed did both of them smile.

Episode 8 Recap

Ding Zhitong rode a bicycle to take Gan Yang home. Gan Yang didn’t forget to remind her about running together the next day. The two kept saying goodbye, reluctant to part. Wang Yi came down to pick up Gan Yang and reminded him not to confess his feelings through running every time. But Gan Yang gave the sweetest smile because he knew she understood his way of expressing love through running. Xu Chenxi had liked Gan Yang since childhood.

But after confessing once, Gan Yang started avoiding her. Later, Xu Chenxi deliberately told one of Gan Yang’s basketball friends “I like you” too, and casually explained to Gan Yang that they were just playing Truth or Dare and that she didn’t actually like him. Only then did Gan Yang feel relieved and stop avoiding her. Xu Chenxi shared this story with her best friend and broke down in tears—she no longer dared to say she liked someone again.

Early in the morning, Gan Yang called Ding Zhitong to ask her to go for a run. But it unfortunately started pouring. Worried that Gan Yang would be disappointed, Ding Zhitong promised to wait until the rain stopped. Gan Yang even tried on several sets of athletic clothes and insisted on having Wang Yi help him choose the best one. Wang Yi complained that Gan Yang treated running like speed dating. Ding Zhitong waited patiently for the rain to stop.

Finally, the rain ended, and the two headed out for their run. Gan Yang even coached Ding Zhitong on how to breathe properly while running. He held her hand and placed it on her stomach to help her feel her breath. Ding Zhitong suddenly felt shy and lowered her head. Gan Yang noticed her pulse racing and worried something was wrong with her heart.

Ding Zhitong quickly pulled her hand away, afraid he would notice that her racing heartbeat was because of him. When Ding Zhitong couldn’t keep up, Gan Yang encouraged her, gave her clear goals, and motivated her to push through. Afterward, Ding Zhitong thanked him for his encouragement. Gan Yang told her that he had wanted to say something important after the marathon, but once again, the moment was interrupted—this time by the rain.

In the cafeteria, two students were gossiping that Song Mingmei was seducing Qin Chang to get a better evaluation. Furious, Song Mingmei hit one of them with a tray. During class, Qin Chang specifically praised Song Mingmei’s report as the most detailed and precise and shared it with the class, convincing everyone it truly was the best. He made the gossiping student apologize to Song Mingmei and warned that anyone spreading rumors again wouldn’t be allowed to attend class.

At that moment, Song Mingmei found Qin Chang very charming. Gan Yang brought Ding Zhitong to the dorm to shower and change into clean clothes. She saw many shoes Gan Yang had designed, including one pair specially made for her. The two of them painted the shoes together, laughing happily. Just then, Gan Yang received a job offer from Hetai. As the rain suddenly stopped and a rainbow appeared, it felt like everything had cleared up.

Gan Yang once again invited her to go running together. Ding Zhitong couldn’t resist and kissed Gan Yang, telling him she liked him too. The two shared a passionate kiss on that sweet afternoon. After returning, Ding Zhitong lay on her bed grinning from ear to ear. Song Mingmei pressed her for details, and Ding Zhitong confessed she was now with Gan Yang. Since the future is unpredictable, being happy now is what matters most.

Song Mingmei agreed, saying youth is about enjoying the moment. Gan Yang prepared breakfast for Ding Zhitong and came to take her to class. They made plans to have dinner together that night. Before getting out of the car, Ding Zhitong sweetly kissed Gan Yang on the cheek, making him beam with joy. At work, Ding Zhitong comforted her co-worker Yun Ting, who was heartbroken because her boyfriend had broken up with her due to a long-distance relationship.

Ding Zhitong encouraged her to talk things through with him and volunteered to cover her shift. Gan Yang was about to pick Ding Zhitong up for dinner when she called to say she was covering for Yun Ting and couldn’t go. Worried that she’d be eating instant noodles alone, Gan Yang came to accompany her. Ding Zhitong even made him her signature instant noodles, which he couldn’t stop praising.

Ding Zhitong was worried that she might be sent to work in Shanghai, which could mean a long-distance relationship for them too. Gan Yang held her hand and promised that no matter how far, he’d fly to visit her. But Ding Zhitong still looked a bit worried. When Gan Yang came to pick her up for dinner, the little girls around the dorm greeted him, making Ding Zhitong uneasy.

Gan Yang promised to keep his distance from them in the future and then brought her to his little vegetable garden. He personally cooked a whole table of dishes for her, and Ding Zhitong gave him a chef nickname. Worried that she might not be the first to taste such good food, she expressed discomfort despite understanding everyone has a past.

Gan Yang explained that the food had only been tasted by Wang Yi before—he was just the guinea pig—and sincerely told her that Ding Zhitong was his first love.

Episode 9 Recap

Gan Yang told Ding Zhitong that she was his first love, the first girl who ever made his heart race. Ding Zhitong responded that she felt the same about Gan Yang, filling both of them with joy. But Gan Yang quickly noticed that Ding Zhitong wasn’t truly happy and guessed she might be worried because of Ai Yunting’s long-distance relationship. He promised he would frequently visit her in the future.

Still, Ding Zhitong remained uneasy—she recalled how happy Ai Yunting had been every time she saw her boyfriend, but due to being busy and frequent arguments, even their love felt exhausting to her. Gan Yang continued to comfort Ding Zhitong, convinced that their situation was different from Ai Yunting’s. Even if they were both busy and he couldn’t always meet her when he came, he could at least cook a meal and leave quietly.

When she returned home and saw the food, she’d know he had been there. That thought finally brought a smile to Ding Zhitong’s face. As they returned from dinner and a walk, they saw Feng Sheng anxiously waiting outside her dormitory. Gan Yang noticed Feng Sheng and felt a twinge of jealousy, but reminded himself that Ding Zhitong was now his girlfriend. He reassured her once again, cupping her cheeks and telling her not to overthink.

Feng Sheng witnessed this scene and felt even more unsettled. After Gan Yang left, Feng Sheng privately advised Ding Zhitong to stay away from Gan Yang, saying their family backgrounds were too different and expressing his own biased view of Gan Yang’s character. Ding Zhitong wasn’t swayed. She understood Feng Sheng’s feelings and sincerely wished he would find happiness of his own. That night, Song Mingmei returned to the dorm, excitedly showing Ding Zhitong her WeChat.

It turned out Gan Yang had made their relationship public online, instantly boosting his popularity. He even helped Ding Zhitong prepare for her move to Shanghai in advance by finding a place for her. Xu Chenxi, wanting to see Gan Yang, drove them around to look at apartments. But with limited finances, Ding Zhitong found the locations too far or the prices too high.

Xu Chenxi grew frustrated, complaining aloud that Ding Zhitong and Feng Sheng had very different views on money and weren’t suited for each other. With the help of a staff member, they eventually saw a spacious room that Ding Zhitong immediately liked. She joyfully imagined how she would decorate it. But the rent was too expensive, so they ended up choosing a rural house with a shared lease. Though small, it had great natural light and a peaceful environment.

Gan Yang was a bit uneasy—the place was remote and they knew nothing about their roommate. But Ding Zhitong felt it was conveniently close to the subway and made commuting easier, so Gan Yang relented. To celebrate the move, Ding Zhitong offered to cook, but her clumsy attempts prompted Gan Yang to take over and showcase his cooking skills. During dinner, their housemate Xiaoli returned and quietly greeted them before heading to her room.

To avoid any awkwardness, Ding Zhitong urged Gan Yang to finish up and head back to his hotel. But Gan Yang jokingly suggested she not go back at all, which made Ding Zhitong blush and daydream. Seeing her reaction, Gan Yang quickly clarified—he just wanted to take her somewhere. Meanwhile, Song Mingmei was at a social event, dancing with various elites to network. In the process, she accidentally twisted her ankle.

Qin Chang specially instructed staff to bring her an ice pack, stirring something in her heart and changing her opinion of him. Out in the countryside, Gan Yang had carefully set up a tent and played a tune for Ding Zhitong. They talked about their parents, and Gan Yang said he was sure his mom would love Ding Zhitong—because both she and his mom were the most important people in his life.

He fibbed that he chose the camping spot to catch a meteor shower, but when Ding Zhitong looked up, not even stars were visible. Then Gan Yang led her to the riverside, where fireflies danced through the air like a dream. In the magical atmosphere, Gan Yang couldn’t help but kiss Ding Zhitong. The next day, Gan Yang had to leave, and Ding Zhitong came to see him off.

They were reluctant to part, but the taxi driver grew impatient and kept honking. Partings are part of life—Ding Zhitong watched as Gan Yang drove away, feeling a wave of loneliness. Back at her rental house, she found a meal and a cute stuffed toy that Gan Yang had left for her, warming her heart. The following day was Ding Zhitong’s first day at work. As a newcomer, she stepped into the meeting room and saw all the department heads.

Among them, Deborah from the investment banking division immediately caught her eye. Sharp, capable, and stunning, Dai Bola was Ding Zhitong’s image of a true career woman. Deeply inspired, Ding Zhitong silently vowed to work hard in this opportunity-filled, challenging Shanghai—to write her own brilliant chapter, and to let her love with Gan Yang blossom alongside her dreams.

Episode 10 Recap

Dai Bola was dissatisfied with Xu Chenxi, thinking she was just a mascot. She was especially displeased that the company had assigned such a "mascot" to her. Even when the meeting ended, Xu Chenxi had yet to arrive. However, after persuasion from company leadership, Dai Bola agreed to let Xu Chenxi stay. Still, she made it clear that if Xu Chenxi crossed any lines, she would be dismissed.

The leadership advised Dai Bola to give her some face, as Xu Chenxi had influential backing. At the time, Xu Chenxi was using her family connections to transfer to the company where Ding Zhitong worked, with the sole purpose of suppressing Ding Zhitong and keeping her away from Gan Yang. She drove her Porsche and walked into the meeting room late, then went with Ding Zhitong to Dai Bola’s office.

Dai Bola, ten years Ding Zhitong’s senior, was once a top student back in school. She sternly reminded Ding Zhitong not to bring shame to their alma mater. When Xu Chenxi greeted her warmly, Dai Bola completely ignored her, not even sparing her a glance. The two officially began their work journey. Jia Fan brought in department documents for Ding Zhitong to review.

After briefly replying to a message from Gan Yang, Ding Zhitong devoted herself fully to studying the materials. Meanwhile, Gan Yang received a call from Shu Chi, and his expression darkened instantly. He visited the investor, sincerely hoping Shu Chi would give him a chance to make improvements. However, Shu Chi publicly backed out of the deal, citing high development costs and claiming the design was unachievable.

Ding Zhitong demonstrated remarkable efficiency, finishing all the materials in just a few hours and even noting the errors within. However, Jia Fan deliberately made things difficult for her. Still, Ding Zhitong was undeterred. She returned to her desk with a new stack of materials, and her focused, meticulous attitude was noticed by Dai Bola. That evening, Ding Zhitong was still working overtime. Gan Yang called, and Ding Zhitong firmly stated that the work hadn't worn her down.

Instead, she hoped to stay by Dai Bola’s side through hard work. To her, having a leader like Dai Bola would help her grow faster and earn more money. After hanging up, Gan Yang went for his usual night run. Seeing stars in the sky, he took a picture and sent it to Ding Zhitong. Unknowingly, she had fallen asleep at her desk.

Xu Chenxi, passing by on her way home, gently placed a jacket over her, muttering that she couldn't let Ding Zhitong catch a cold and end up being cared for by Gan Yang. After finishing organizing the materials, Ding Zhitong realized that only the compliance department’s data was missing. Qin Yu glanced at Jia Fan and guessed he was making things difficult on purpose.

She told Ding Zhitong she could visit Han Tao from the finance department in the afternoon, but warned that he was difficult to deal with and advised her to choose her words carefully. As expected, when Ding Zhitong approached Han Tao later, he refused to give her the data. Fortunately, Feng Sheng, from the same department, mediated, and Han Tao eventually handed over the documents. Ding Zhitong was surprised to see Feng Sheng at Hetai.

He then revealed the reason Jia Fan was targeting her: after graduation, Jia Fan joined Hetai but never got promoted. With a performance review approaching, he faced possible termination. When Ding Zhitong learned that Qin Yu couldn’t go to the bank, she offered to go in her place. At the bank, she recalled a video clip she had watched earlier. Noticing a discrepancy in the timestamps, she confirmed that the bank statement provided by Mr. Zhang was falsified.

She immediately informed Qin Yu, hoping to stop Dai Bola from proceeding with the partnership. At a crucial moment, Ding Zhitong rushed into the meeting room, successfully preventing the company from incurring losses. Afterward, Dai Bola harshly scolded Jia Fan, stating that had it not been for Ding Zhitong’s timely discovery, the consequences would have been disastrous. Because of this, Ding Zhitong earned the opportunity to go on a business trip with Dai Bola the next day.

Ding Zhitong shared the good news with Gan Yang. He didn’t mention the broken contract but instead encouraged her. In an effort to improve his running shoes, Gan Yang provided them for free to athletes in exchange for valuable feedback. Things were going well, but Wang Yi grew increasingly anxious due to the lack of profit. Still, Gan Yang wasn’t discouraged by short-term losses. While out running, he happened to encounter an elderly man jogging.

Based on the man’s posture, Gan Yang immediately pointed out a flaw in the shoes, which piqued the man's interest. They ended up chatting for a long time, and Gan Yang learned that the man was actually a judge in the running shoe design competition—no wonder he looked familiar. Through this fateful encounter, Gan Yang earned Dr. Chen’s approval and successfully secured a partnership. During the business trip with Dai Bola, Ding Zhitong performed excellently and gained recognition.

Dai Bola instructed her and Qin Yu to return first while she stayed to lead the meeting. Upon hearing this, Jia Fan’s face showed visible unease. Two months passed in the blink of an eye. Ding Zhitong casually snapped a picture of the clouds above, sharing small moments of happiness from her life. Meanwhile, Gan Yang and Dr. Chen came to the same city on a business trip. Coincidentally, they ended up at the same train station.

Unfortunately, the train was about to depart, and the two could only look at each other from afar, filled with longing and thoughts of one another. In the bustling city of Shanghai, Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang each pursued their dreams with determination. Despite the challenges and obstacles, their love and perseverance continued to support them, helping them grow through the journey and write their own extraordinary stories.

Episode 11 Recap

The unexpected encounter between Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang at the train station left them both overjoyed, nearly causing them to miss their train. Ding Zhitong boarded the train, panting from running, while Qin Yu, understanding the emotions of a long-distance relationship, didn’t blame her at all. When Qin Yu went to the restroom, Gan Yang called again. The two cherished this rare meeting and shared their joy, but the train suddenly entered a tunnel.

Both panicked and rushed toward the train doors, thinking their phones had issues—only to be reminded by others that it was just a tunnel. Ding Zhitong had originally planned to take time to visit home while accompanying Dai Bola to Hangzhou to meet a client. She hadn’t been home in half a year and missed her mother. But things didn’t go as planned. During the investors' meeting, a small data discrepancy arose. Although Mr.

Huang from the investors’ side didn’t make a fuss, Dai Bola was furious and rated Ding Zhitong with a grade one assessment. In fact, it was all Jia Fan’s doing behind the scenes. Before the meeting, Dai Bola had asked Jia Fan to deliver a document to Ding Zhitong, but because she was too focused on editing a previous proposal, she didn’t hear the knock. Jia Fan left with the materials on purpose.

Feeling down, Ding Zhitong sent a message to Gan Yang. He was at an investors' meeting with Dr. Chen but noticed her low mood and quickly found an excuse to leave, leaving Dr. Chen to hold the fort. Dr. Chen understood Gan Yang’s devotion to love and didn’t blame him. When the video call connected, Ding Zhitong forced a smile and pretended to be upbeat, but Gan Yang saw through her.

He hoped she would be her true self in front of him without putting up a front. Ding Zhitong couldn’t hold back her tears and told Gan Yang their original plan had been canceled—they were heading to Jinan instead. That evening, Ding Zhitong called her mother to say she couldn’t come home.

Before the call ended, Qin Yu came over to tell her the trip was delayed again, the ticket was rescheduled, and they would leave for Jinan the next day. Ding Zhitong, afraid the plan would change again, didn’t dare tell her mother. Then someone called to say a package had arrived. Ding Zhitong thought it was a gift from Gan Yang, but to her surprise, Gan Yang suddenly appeared from behind, covering her eyes.

Ding Zhitong jokingly guessed a couple of male names, sparking Gan Yang’s jealousy. Gan Yang insisted on driving her home that night, saying he only had that one night. Ding Zhitong was confused how Gan Yang knew everything even though she hadn’t said a word, but quickly guessed he must’ve found a way to get Dai Bola to change the schedule. In fact, Dai Bola had tried to meet Dr. Chen before but was always declined.

Gan Yang specially asked Dr. Chen to agree to a meeting, which led Dai Bola to adjust the plan. Gan Yang thoughtfully prepared many gifts and snacks for the ride but didn’t go inside with her. When Ding Zhitong got home and found her mother wasn’t there, she immediately guessed she had gone out to run the pancake stall. She found her mother there, who got flustered and tried to pack up, but Ding Zhitong helped make the pancake.

The neighbors all praised her mother for having such a good daughter, and her mother was full of pride. Back home, her mother made all of Ding Zhitong’s favorite dishes. Ding Zhitong made her promise not to run the stall in bad weather or when feeling unwell, and her mother agreed. Still worried, Ding Zhitong added the neighbor on WeChat to keep an eye on her. Her mother also made spiced beef for her to bring along.

Ding Zhitong brought it to meet Gan Yang, just as Feng Sheng showed up and happened to see it. Feeling disheartened, he quietly left. While waiting, Gan Yang set up a romantic light display and gave Ding Zhitong a pair of earrings. She was overjoyed, but when she saw the scratches on his hand from setting everything up, her heart ached. The two locked eyes affectionately and kissed.

On the way back, Ding Zhitong fell asleep in the car, holding a jar of origami crane lights Gan Yang had made. He took a picture of her sleeping before gently waking her, knowing if she kept sleeping like that, she’d be sore the next day. They reluctantly said goodbye. Ding Zhitong left her mother’s spiced beef with Gan Yang, and he promised to visit her mother next time.

Right after she left, Gan Yang received a text from Wang Yi saying there was an issue with the running shoes—netizens suspected a publicity stunt. Ding Zhitong went to find Dr. Chen, suggesting he visit Wang Yi’s studio and trusting his judgment. Dr. Chen visited the studio, and Gan Yang used a livestream to clear up the rumors. When asked for his opinion, Dr. Chen simply said, with deeper meaning, that the studio’s coffee was quite good.

After the video aired, netizens overwhelmingly praised Gan Yang. Ding Zhitong also messaged him, saying she saw the video and thought her boyfriend looked radiant. Dai Bola remained impressed with Ding Zhitong and let her continue working on Mr. Huang’s case. After the company review, Ding Zhitong received a five-star rating and excitedly took a photo. Gan Yang called, inviting her to a concert—he was already in Shanghai. She ran to meet him, and they embraced joyfully.

Since they hadn’t planned it in advance, they couldn’t get tickets, but they happily sat outside listening to the music, feeling content. Ever since being together, they felt the other’s smile was their own happiness. But the weather didn’t cooperate. A sudden downpour hit. Gan Yang covered Ding Zhitong with his coat as they ran to her apartment. Since she shared the place, they sat together on the steps outside, cuddling and whispering sweet nothings.

In the bliss of new love, they kissed, undisturbed even when passersby interrupted. Just as Gan Yang was about to walk back to his hotel, Ding Zhitong’s roommate called, telling him to stay the night, assuring them it wouldn’t bother her. Ding Zhitong happily agreed and sent Gan Yang to take a hot shower. She set up a floor bed for him, feeling bad that someone who lived in a big villa was staying in such humble conditions for her.

Gan Yang didn’t mind at all—he just wanted to hold her hand as he slept. But then he noticed a rat and jumped onto the chair in fear. When Ding Zhitong, half-asleep, asked what was going on, he couldn’t admit he was scared and lied, saying he needed to use the bathroom. That night, he stayed alert, slipper in hand, unable to sleep.

Ding Zhitong noticed he hadn’t slept well and started considering asking for a raise to move to a better place. She didn’t want him to keep suffering like this. But Gan Yang said he didn’t mind feeding mosquitoes, as long as he could stay with her. To let her rest peacefully, he held her hand with one hand and kept the slipper ready in the other, prepared to protect her from any intruding pests.

Episode 12 Recap

Before going to the airport, Gan Yang deliberately sent Ding Zhitong to work. At the high-speed rail station, seeing so many people, Gan Yang offered to take a taxi, but Ding Zhitong refused. She thought that if she had to take a taxi every time, her monthly salary wouldn't be enough.

Gan Yang didn't insist, but seeing Ding Zhitong being squeezed on the way to work without even a seat and still having to respond to work matters, he felt distressed. After watching Ding Zhitong enter her workplace, Gan Yang dialed the number of the real estate agent from last time. Song Mingmei was about to go for her internship.

Before leaving, she bought a tie for Qin Chang and asked him to ride a bicycle to take her to the bus stop at the school gate. Gan Yang was worried that Ding Zhitong wouldn’t eat well, so he always brought her food, but Ding Zhitong would always transfer the money back to him. This made Gan Yang feel uncomfortable, though he never blamed her.

Every weekend, Gan Yang would go to the rented apartment and decorate and paint by himself, just like how Ding Zhitong had imagined it. When he was hungry, he’d eat instant noodles, but thinking about how Ding Zhitong would one day live in her dream place made him smile unconsciously. When Ding Zhitong got off work, she saw Gan Yang’s image on a large screen and became curious.

As she approached to take a closer look, Gan Yang appeared from behind. He had prepared a large bouquet of flowers for her and took her to the apartment he rented. However, Ding Zhitong strongly opposed it and didn’t want to spend Gan Yang’s money. Gan Yang refused to accept her rejection because he was her boyfriend and was willing to give for her. Ding Zhitong firmly insisted that she wouldn’t live there and even refused to eat.

She emphasized that Gan Yang should sublet the apartment. Gan Yang stubbornly refused and, to protect her pride, suggested they split the rent evenly. But Ding Zhitong believed the biggest difference between them was that she couldn’t even afford half the rent. They ended up having an argument, both couldn’t sleep that night. Ding Zhitong looked up rental information and found that the apartment was very expensive, which made her feel even more heartbroken.

While running, Gan Yang thought about what Ding Zhitong said, which put him in an even worse mood but also made him run harder. Ding Zhitong, on the other hand, kept yawning at work due to lack of sleep. Qin Yu had to drag her to drink coffee and shared her own troubles—her place was soaked by rain, and the landlord wanted to renovate, leaving her with nowhere to live.

Ding Zhitong suddenly thought of subletting Gan Yang’s apartment to her and called Gan Yang. He thought she was still angry and wouldn’t talk to him, so when he heard she wanted the key to the apartment, he was overjoyed, thinking she had come around. Xu Chenxi overheard the conversation between Ding Zhitong and Qin Yu and deliberately approached Qin Yu to get information.

After confirming that Ding Zhitong really intended to sublet the apartment to Qin Yu, she immediately told Gan Yang. Just as Qin Yu and Ding Zhitong arrived to view the apartment, Gan Yang rushed over and stopped the sublease. The two argued again over the matter. Gan Yang believed that Ding Zhitong refused to accept his kindness and saw that she was afraid of something.

He asked what she was afraid of, but Ding Zhitong denied being scared and falsely claimed she simply didn’t want to go through with it. The two had another falling-out, and Gan Yang left disappointed. Ding Zhitong went to find Song Mingmei and drank a lot. She cried bitterly, worried that she and Gan Yang wouldn’t make it, because she didn’t want money to cause conflicts.

She had once witnessed family members fall apart and end up in court over money and didn’t want that to happen between her and Gan Yang. Besides, she felt that all of Gan Yang’s money came from his parents, which made it even more inappropriate to use it. She didn’t want their relationship to become complicated—she just wanted a simple love. Song Mingmei asked if Ding Zhitong liked Gan Yang.

Ding Zhitong couldn’t help but cry and nodded repeatedly, admitting that she did like him. But she didn’t want to tell Gan Yang about it. Song Mingmei understood that Ding Zhitong wanted to show only her perfect side and hurried to comfort her and drink with her. After returning home, Gan Yang couldn’t sleep either. Wang Yi advised Gan Yang to give both sides a way out, otherwise, he’d be the one suffering.

This also proved that Ding Zhitong liked Gan Yang for who he was, not for his money, which was a good thing. But Gan Yang said he just felt heartache for her—he only wanted her to eat well, live well, not be so exhausted, and not have to squeeze into the subway and waste so much time commuting. Wang Yi urged Gan Yang to get a good night’s sleep and call Ding Zhitong the next day to clear things up.

While printing documents with Jia Fan, the printer suddenly broke down. Jia Fan flew into a rage and told Ding Zhitong to watch over the printer downstairs and bring up the documents as soon as they were printed, not allowing anyone else to see them. Just as Ding Zhitong was carrying a large stack of documents upstairs, they fell to the ground. She happened to run into Feng Sheng, who offered to help, but she refused.

Jia Fan arrived at that moment, saw what was happening, and impatiently urged Ding Zhitong to hurry up. Feng Sheng was displeased with Jia Fan’s attitude. After the meeting, he quietly placed the folder under the conference table on purpose, hoping Jia Fan would be reprimanded. Seeing Jia Fan carrying the documents out, Dai Bola asked whether he had checked the quantity and if there were any missing.

Since Jia Fan hadn’t printed them himself, he didn’t know what to say. Just then, Ding Zhitong appeared behind him and answered in his place, saying the documents had been counted and there were nine sets. After Dai Bola was satisfied and left, Ding Zhitong handed the documents to Jia Fan. Xu Chenxi was dissatisfied with how Ding Zhitong treated Gan Yang.

She felt that Gan Yang had worked so hard and yet Ding Zhitong wanted to sublet the apartment, which made her unworthy of Gan Yang’s affection. Only then did Ding Zhitong realize that every week on his day off, Gan Yang had been personally renovating the apartment, just to give her a dream room. She immediately ran to the apartment to see it.

Every part of it matched the joking ideas she had once shared, but now Gan Yang had made them all come true. Every corner showed signs of Gan Yang’s hard work. Ding Zhitong burst into tears and sent messages and called him, but his phone was already turned off. Helpless, Ding Zhitong had no choice but to call Wang Yi.

Episode 13 Recap

When Ding Zhitong arrived at work, she brought breakfast for Qin Yu and apologized about the apartment matter. At that moment, Dai Bola arrived and urgently called Ding Zhitong and Jia Fan to her office to prepare the materials needed for the next day's meeting. However, Ding Zhitong requested a day off tomorrow. Even though it meant her work might be re-evaluated or affect her probation period, she insisted on taking the leave. Dai Bola approved it.

Ding Zhitong told Wang Yi that she was going to Hangzhou to discuss cooperation details with Dr. Chen. Wang Yi hurriedly and secretly sent this information to Gan Yang, but Gan Yang caught him. Wang Yi had no choice but to explain the truth—that Ding Zhitong couldn’t reach Gan Yang and called Wang Yi instead, hoping to surprise Gan Yang the next day.

Gan Yang was overjoyed and told Wang Yi to let Ding Zhitong know to meet him at the airport the next day. The next day, when Ding Zhitong had already arrived at the airport, she received a call from Dai Bola. Jia Fan couldn't be contacted, and since only Ding Zhitong fully understood the model used in the meeting, she had to return immediately or she would be dismissed.

With no other option, Ding Zhitong rushed back to the company and threw herself into work. Gan Yang, who waited at the airport all along, didn’t see her and had to board the flight alone. After a full day of work, Ding Zhitong finally checked her phone. Dai Bola had sent her a message praising her, but she hadn’t received anything from Gan Yang.

Just as she was getting ready to leave work, she got a call from the hospital—Jia Fan had collapsed in his room from acute encephalitis and had been taken to the hospital by a neighbor. The hospital called her because her missed call was on Jia Fan’s phone. Ding Zhitong rushed to the hospital and saw Jia Fan unconscious. His ex-girlfriend had also come after hearing the news, but his family couldn’t be contacted.

Ding Zhitong had no choice but to inform Dai Bola, who only reminded her to take over Jia Fan’s work and asked nothing more about his condition. At the time, Dai Bola was in the president’s office discussing her potential promotion. Though the company initially wanted to hire externally, the president believed that since Dai Bola secured a big deal, she had a strong chance of being promoted.

Dai Bola didn’t want anything to affect her promotion, so she lied and said an employee had taken medical leave. Early the next morning, Dai Bola called Ding Zhitong and told her to return to the office immediately and not to answer any calls on the way—because Jia Fan had died. During the company inquiry, Ding Zhitong truthfully stated that she couldn’t reach Jia Fan and only went to the hospital because they called her.

Dai Bola had no choice but to stop the questioning. Wang Yi happily welcomed Gan Yang back, assuming he had met Ding Zhitong, but Gan Yang was clearly disappointed. Then he thought to himself that Ding Zhitong wouldn’t go back on a promise without a good reason—something must have happened. He quickly called Ding Zhitong, who burst into tears on the phone and told him Jia Fan had died. Gan Yang told her to wait for him.

Ding Zhitong anxiously drank beer in the rented apartment. When she saw Gan Yang’s car arrive, she rushed downstairs, and they embraced tightly. Ding Zhitong told Gan Yang what had happened with Jia Fan. She said that if she were in Jia Fan’s position, she might not have been more noble. Gan Yang hoped she would think seriously about what he had said before—what’s more important, money or life?

Ding Zhitong cried, realizing that without life, no amount of money mattered. She had once believed that earning money could get her everything she wanted. Ding Zhitong also told Gan Yang about her life with her mother—they had always depended on each other, yet she hadn’t given her mother a single good day. She knew Gan Yang had the ability to spend money on her, but she didn’t want their relationship to be impure.

Though she worked hard and didn’t have time to accompany Gan Yang, she really liked being with him. Gan Yang wiped her tears and understood her stubbornness, but he also expressed his own thoughts—he called her every day because he was afraid something might happen to her on the way, and he rented the apartment to give her a better life. He hoped she could move in, eat and sleep well, and take care of herself.

He said if she broke her health for work, then nothing would be left. Ding Zhitong hugged him tightly, which counted as her agreement. But she also wrote him an IOU. Gan Yang reduced the rent by half, saying he’d be living there too, and added at the end that the amount could count toward her monthly spending. Ding Zhitong felt she had gained, but Gan Yang believed he was the one who had gained.

At work, Ding Zhitong was called into Dai Bola’s office and was given a notice confirming her full-time status. Dai Bola also expressed hope that Jia Fan’s matter wouldn’t affect her. Gan Yang secured sponsorship from Dr. Chen and established his first company in Shanghai. He brought Ding Zhitong to tour the place he had set up, and Ding Zhitong reserved the first pair of shoes produced by the company. Gan Yang agreed dotingly.

Since they now worked in the same city, they saw each other more often, cooked meals together, and went out together. When Gan Yang returned home, he found Ding Zhitong had made many paper cranes. She wanted to hang them on the window just like at home—when the wind blew, it would look like they were flying. Gan Yang was very happy that Ding Zhitong was starting to treat the place as home. Ding Zhitong also made porridge for Gan Yang.

He said it was delicious, but Ding Zhitong didn’t believe him and tried it herself—it was actually very bad. Gan Yang gave some suggestions to improve it. The two of them enjoyed the food together, brushed their teeth together, went jogging together, and lived a carefree, happy life for a while. Gan Yang wished it could go on forever, but he had to return to school next week.

Ding Zhitong comforted him, saying she would always be waiting for him to come back. Suddenly, Gan Yang bit into her ice cream and ran off, making Ding Zhitong chase him, hitting him in frustration.

Episode 14 Recap

When Ding Zhitong arrived at work, she heard that a new MD had joined. Originally, Dai Bola was supposed to be promoted, but due to the situation with Jia Fan, she was passed over. The new arrival turned out to be Qin Chang, which surprised Ding Zhitong. Her colleagues, knowing they attended the same school, were curious about whether this Qin Chang was handsome.

Ding Zhitong had taken an elective course taught by Qin Chang before, and she knew he was not only good-looking but also quite decent. Just after returning to her desk, Ding Zhitong called Song Mingmei to tell her about Qin Chang joining Hetai. Unexpectedly, they bumped into each other in the elevator downstairs. Qin Chang invited Song Mingmei to dinner, but she pretended to be on the phone with Ding Zhitong and made dinner plans with her instead.

Ding Zhitong suspected that Song Mingmei must have run into Qin Chang and was flustered because of it. Song Mingmei was indeed happy to see Qin Chang, especially when she noticed he was wearing the tie she had given him.

Qin Chang came over to say hello to Ding Zhitong, and since she knew about Song Mingmei's feelings for him, she told Qin Chang about their dinner plans and deliberately found an excuse to leave midway, giving them the chance to talk alone. Back home, Ding Zhitong began missing Gan Yang. He also messaged her, saying he missed her and promised to visit soon.

Ding Zhitong dozed off, dreaming that on a snowy day, Gan Yang wrote on the ground outside: "Tongtong, I miss you. " The next morning, before she even woke up, she heard Gan Yang calling her name—he had really come back. He told Ding Zhitong that his mother was coming to meet her, which made her nervous but also excited.

He Jin, the son of Ding Zhitong's aunt, found out his mother had lent money to Ding Zhitong and went to her workplace to cause trouble, demanding repayment. Feng Sheng wanted to help but was refused by Ding Zhitong. She warned He Jin that if he continued causing trouble, she would call the police. The money was borrowed from her aunt, and she wouldn’t give it to He Jin for gambling.

Their argument was seen by Xu Chenxi, who then threatened to tell Gan Yang. But Ding Zhitong didn’t seem afraid and even acted like she wanted Gan Yang to know. Xu Chenxi, worried Ding Zhitong might be using Gan Yang for money, decided not to tell him after all. However, He Jin, who hadn’t given up on his scheme, overheard their conversation and assumed Ding Zhitong had found herself a rich boyfriend.

That evening, Ding Zhitong was supposed to meet Gan Yang and his mother for dinner, but just as she arrived at the restaurant, He Jin followed her. Worried he would cause a scene, she didn’t go inside to meet Gan Yang’s mother. After waiting a long time with no sign of Ding Zhitong and finding her phone turned off, Gan Yang grew anxious and searched everywhere for her. When he got home, he found Ding Zhitong soaked from the rain.

Without a word of blame, he hugged her tightly. Ding Zhitong tried to explain she hadn’t skipped the meeting on purpose, but Gan Yang wasn’t angry—he just urged her to take a shower to avoid catching a cold. Feeling guilty, Ding Zhitong asked to speak to Gan Yang’s mother on the phone to apologize. Gan Yang’s mother, understanding and kind, didn’t blame her and was just glad she was safe.

Ding Zhitong felt lucky to have met Gan Yang and decided to open up, telling him about her father's illness, the debt, and how it led to loan sharks hounding them. That’s why she had always refused Gan Yang’s financial help—she feared that money could one day ruin their relationship too. Gan Yang’s heart ached even more after hearing her story.

That day, Ding Zhitong had made it to the restaurant door again but left, afraid of He Jin causing a scene. She tried to shake him off before going back, but by the time she returned, Gan Yang and his mother had already left, and she was soaking wet. Gan Yang wiped the tears from her face and confessed how scared he was—afraid she would suffer, get hurt, or even leave him.

He promised he would always stay by her side. The next morning, just after brushing his teeth, Gan Yang expressed his wish to marry Ding Zhitong and give her a home. She was overjoyed but asked him to wait two more years—until she had paid off all her debts—so she could marry him without any burden. Gan Yang said he wanted to meet He Jin and teach him a lesson, and he laid out a plan.

Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong intentionally met in front of the company building. Gan Yang pulled up in a luxury car, and He Jin immediately demanded money, even promising to cancel Ding Zhitong’s debt. Gan Yang pretended to break up with Ding Zhitong on the spot, accusing her of only being with him for money.

He Jin then asked for emotional damages, but Gan Yang was prepared—he pulled out a list of all the expenses he had covered for Ding Zhitong, totaling over 100,000 yuan, and demanded that He Jin repay him or face police action. Terrified, He Jin ran off. Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong couldn’t help but laugh and high-five in celebration. Song Mingmei was accompanying the company boss at a social event when the other party nearly grabbed her hand.

Qin Chang suddenly showed up and took her away, personally escorting her home. Song Mingmei hoped Qin Chang would confess his feelings, but in the end, he couldn’t bring himself to say it. Gan Yang suddenly got a call from Xu Chenxi—she had met Gan Yang’s father. After seeing a photo, Gan Yang confirmed it was indeed his father.

He specially prepared a table full of dishes for Ding Zhitong and told her he had to return home early for family matters. But when he came back, he would visit her home to meet his future mother-in-law. Ding Zhitong agreed to wait for him at home.

Episode 15 Recap

Gan Yang woke up from sleeping in Ding Zhitong’s arms. Looking at the still-sleeping Ding Zhitong beside him, he felt deeply reluctant to part, as if he would never be able to see this girl again. He gently withdrew his arm from beneath her head, prepared breakfast for her, and began to pack his things to leave.

Ding Zhitong wanted to see him off, but Gan Yang didn’t want her to go through the trouble—after all, it was a rare chance for her to sleep in. He hoped she could get some proper rest. Thoughtfully, Gan Yang closed the door behind him, reminding her to rest more and telling her they’d meet again after the holiday. Ding Zhitong was filled with reluctance to part, holding back tears in her eyes.

Meanwhile, with the help of Song Mingmei as an intermediary, Baiting successfully secured a partnership with a client. Before going abroad, he invited Song Mingmei to dinner to express his gratitude. Left with little choice, Song Mingmei had to cancel her date with Qin Chang. Gan Yang arrived in Putian and returned to his family’s company. Liu Yongjuan’s assistant, Sister Long Mei, was shocked to see him suddenly appear.

The employees were all absent from their posts, which gave Gan Yang a strong sense of unease. As soon as he entered the office, he witnessed a heated argument between Gan Kunliang and his mother. Gan Kunliang excitedly called Gan Yang over to “have a good look,” but Gan Yang couldn't be bothered with him and instead regretted returning too soon. Gan Kunliang didn’t mind and kept praising his son as a fine young man.

Liu Yongjuan hurriedly explained that since Gan Kunliang was paralyzed on one side and had only a year left in his sentence, he had applied for medical parole. Gan Yang questioned Gan Kunliang about what he had just said to their mother.

Before Gan Kunliang could respond, Liu Yongjuan, afraid something would go wrong, quickly explained that it was just a few traffic fines that could be easily resolved, and she hoped Gan Yang wouldn’t argue with his father at the office—they could talk during dinner that evening. At dinner, Liu Yongjuan originally wanted to keep things from Gan Yang, but he had already heard from Sister Long Mei that the company had been preparing for IPO for years.

However, the current financial situation was grim, with the company running at a loss. Now, in order to get listed, Gan Kunliang wanted to falsify the accounts. Gan Yang firmly opposed fabricating accounts for the sake of going public. Since their mother was the current legal representative, if anything went wrong, she would be the one to go to prison. Gan Yang suspected that Gan Kunliang was deliberately trying to frame their mother.

The father and son broke into a fierce argument over this. Liu Yongjuan, distressed for her son, privately told Gan Yang that she had already transferred the house to his name ahead of time, hoping he could live his own life and not be entangled in adult disputes. Baiting was very optimistic about the overseas market and, during his time with Song Mingmei, enthusiastically invited her to go abroad and make a career together.

He urged her not to just settle for a meager salary. But by this time, Song Mingmei already had someone she cared about in her heart and didn’t want to leave Shanghai. Still, she also longed for a bigger stage. Faced with this difficult decision, she felt lost and went to discuss it with Ding Zhitong that evening. Knowing Song Mingmei’s personality well, Ding Zhitong encouraged her to chase her dreams and not leave behind any regrets.

As the New Year arrived, fireworks were set off in the alleyway, and the laughter of children filled the air, adding to the festive atmosphere. Ding Zhitong and her mother had carefully prepared a hearty New Year's Eve dinner. Her mother gave her a red envelope, and Ding Zhitong handed over her bonus for the year, happily saying that with her salary increase, she’d be able to pay off the debt soon. Her mother accepted the money joyfully.

On the other side, Gan Yang remained preoccupied with the company’s IPO issues and was meticulously reviewing the accounts with his mother and others. He discovered that the previously mentioned losses were, in fact, underestimated. He urged Liu Yongjuan not to listen to Gan Kunliang. At that moment, Ding Zhitong called via video. Gan Yang stepped out to take the call. Ding Zhitong showed him the falling snow outside. Gan Yang didn’t mention the company’s problems.

Watching the joyful Ding Zhitong, he suddenly felt a strong wave of longing. The two gazed at each other across the screen, silently conveying their longing. When Gan Yang arrived at the company, he learned that Gan Kunliang had colluded with his brothers to secretly take the company seal. Fortunately, the secretary discovered it in time, and Liu Yongjuan locked Gan Kunliang in a room. Just then, Gan Yang arrived.

Initially, he wanted to call the police, but his mother stopped him, afraid that if anything happened again while Gan Kunliang was on medical parole, he would be sentenced again. Gan Yang had no choice but to wrestle the seal back. A conflict broke out, and in the scuffle, Gan Kunliang pushed Liu Yongjuan, causing her head to hit the ground, and she fell unconscious. Sitting outside the operating room, Gan Yang was overwhelmed with sorrow and worry for his mother.

It was then that Long Mei revealed the truth: Liu Yongjuan had been ill for a long time but had kept it hidden to avoid worrying Gan Yang. The doctor said the operation was successful, but there was some damage to her brain, and it was uncertain how long she would remain unconscious. Gan Yang kept watch at his mother’s bedside, looking at her motionless form.

He recalled how, after his father had been taken away by the police, all the burdens of the family had fallen on his mother. Debt collectors surrounded them, and life had been incredibly difficult. But his mother still scrimped and saved to buy him the best gifts. One night, she had taught him to run, and he had fallen in love with it. From that moment, Gan Yang swore to protect his mother and build a strong company.

This time, he blamed himself even more for failing to protect her. When Gan Kunliang arrived at the hospital, he showed no concern for Liu Yongjuan’s injuries. Instead, he demanded that Gan Yang hand over the company seal, insisting he would never harm Liu Yongjuan, yet didn’t show a trace of worry for her condition.

When he found out that Gan Yang intended to take over the company, he even used Ding Zhitong to threaten him, arrogantly claiming that no one could stop his plan. Gan Yang warned him to stay away from Ding Zhitong. Gan Kunliang laughed smugly, surprised that Gan Yang actually had something he feared. Just then, Long Mei brought even worse news: Fangshi Capital had issued a repurchase notice, demanding 150 million yuan. They only had half a month left.

Gan Yang quickly asked Long Mei to contact the bank to see if they could secure a loan. Other companies were also calling to demand payment. Gan Yang dealt with each issue one by one, then called Wang Yi to entrust him with the R&D responsibilities, knowing he wouldn’t be able to return to Shanghai anytime soon. Outside the hospital, unsure how to break the current situation to Ding Zhitong, Gan Yang received a video call from her.

She asked when he’d return to Shanghai. He almost told her he’d never go back but couldn’t bring himself to say it. He lied, saying his mother was ill and he had to stay and take care of her. Ding Zhitong asked about Liu Yongjuan’s condition with concern. Gan Yang brushed it off lightly and didn’t invite her to come. He promised to return in two months.

Ding Zhitong specifically reminded him that she’d come to pick him up when he did. Gan Yang’s eyes turned red, and the longing for Ding Zhitong surged once more in his heart.

Episode 16 Recap

Early in the morning, Ding Zhitong came to work and heard from Qin Yu that the year-end bonus was quite generous this year. She happily messaged Gan Yang, hoping to share the good news. However, Gan Yang was too busy with social engagements to check his phone. Ding Zhitong felt something was off and messaged him multiple times, but he still didn’t reply.

It wasn’t until late at night, after Gan Yang returned home from his socializing, that Ding Zhitong called again to share the news about her bonus. With this bonus, she could finally pay off all her debts, and from then on, live a good life with Gan Yang, run together, and truly enjoy life. Gan Yang forced a smile through his inner pain, but after hanging up, tears fell uncontrollably.

Song Mingmei planned to go abroad and especially arranged a meal with Qin Chang. She had hoped Qin Chang would ask her to stay, but instead, he only wished her a smooth journey. Since Song Mingmei wanted to become a successful woman before turning 35, Qin Chang could only offer his blessings. After returning, Song Mingmei was heartbroken and cried in Ding Zhitong’s arms. She felt that Qin Chang had no intention of keeping her.

Yet she truly liked him and hoped he would wait for her return. But since he didn’t even ask her to stay, she couldn’t bring herself to say she wanted him to wait. Ding Zhitong comforted Song Mingmei but apologized because she also had to go on a business trip the next day and wouldn’t be able to see her off. Song Mingmei didn’t mind, as she wasn’t fond of farewell scenes anyway.

The next day, Song Mingmei went to the airport alone. Qin Chang also came to see her off. Unable to resist, he opened his arms and hugged Song Mingmei, only hoping she would become the person she wanted to be. After a deep embrace, they went their separate ways. Xu Chenxi heard that the president’s assistant had resigned and came to offer her help to Gan Yang.

Gan Yang immediately asked her to stay and handed over some accounts for her to review. Xu Chenxi suddenly realized the accounts were too complicated for her to sort out, so she thought of calling Ding Zhitong, believing she must help Gan Yang. Gan Yang happened to see this and stopped Xu Chenxi at once, saying he didn’t want Ding Zhitong to know about their family matters.

Ding Zhitong had already suffered once through debt repayment—he couldn’t let her go through that again. At this point, Xu Chenxi had accepted that Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong were together and believed Ding Zhitong wasn’t a gold-digger. Otherwise, she would’ve had Gan Yang pay the debts long ago and wouldn’t have suffered so much herself. Gan Yang felt comforted that Xu Chenxi could praise Ding Zhitong—if Ding Zhitong knew, she would surely be happy.

Gan Yang went to a company in Hangzhou to collect a debt. Before leaving, he handed over the company seals to Xu Chenxi and specifically told her not to give them to Gan Kunliang. Coincidentally, Ding Zhitong and Qin Yu were also at this company for business but did not see Gan Yang. While Gan Yang was collecting the debt, Boss Cai tricked him and lured him into an underground garage, where he was beaten and threatened.

Qin Yu and Ding Zhitong happened to come down to get their car and, seeing the fight, quickly called the police and shouted that the police were coming, scaring off those attacking Gan Yang. Worried about getting into trouble, Qin Yu pulled Ding Zhitong away from the scene. Ding Zhitong had repaid all her debts and told her mother that once Gan Yang returned, she would bring her to Shanghai to meet him.

At that moment, Gan Yang was right behind her, silently watching. When he saw Ding Zhitong nearly get hit by a car, he shouted “Watch out! ” in panic. Ding Zhitong turned around but didn’t see Gan Yang, who lied and said a child in front of him almost fell. Ding Zhitong believed him. That night, Gan Yang stood downstairs at Ding Zhitong’s place, looking at the light from her window, but didn’t have the courage to go up.

Meanwhile, Ding Zhitong was packing up, planning to find Gan Yang the next day and visit Liu Yongjuan together. But the next morning, the police station called Gan Yang—Gan Kunliang had reported him for intentional injury. Fearing that Gan Kunliang might hurt Ding Zhitong, Gan Yang called her and broke up with her. Afterwards, Gan Yang drank heavily to vent his pain.

Xu Chenxi came to comfort him and tried to take the bottle from his hands, getting her clothes wet in the process. While she went upstairs to change, Ding Zhitong arrived. She held Gan Yang’s hand, hoping they could face things together. But when she saw Xu Chenxi coming downstairs wearing Gan Yang’s clothes, she mistakenly thought the two were already together and that this was why Gan Yang wanted a breakup—that he had betrayed their love.

Heartbroken, Ding Zhitong transferred the rent to Gan Yang and took back the IOU, then went outside alone and cried her heart out. Gan Yang also sent Xu Chenxi away and sat alone in the room crying. All the beautiful memories between him and Ding Zhitong flashed before his eyes. Ding Zhitong tore up the IOU.

Episode 17 Recap

Ding Zhitong returned to her place, suffering unbearable stomach pain, and suddenly fainted in the room. It wasn't until the next morning when Feng Sheng came to look for her that he found her collapsed on the floor and took her to the hospital. After waking up, Ding Zhitong insisted on being discharged immediately. She wanted to keep herself busy, believing that was the only way to numb her emotions.

Feng Sheng tried to comfort her, but she pushed him out. Lying alone in the hospital bed, Ding Zhitong couldn’t hold back her tears. Once discharged, Ding Zhitong moved out with Feng Sheng’s help. She didn’t take the photo of her and Gan Yang, but as she shut the door, tears still fell uncontrollably. She recalled how Gan Yang used to cook for her, and seeing a neighbor go jogging reminded her of Gan Yang inviting her to run together.

At Gan Yang’s home in Putian, his stomach condition worsened due to days of exhaustion. When he reached for his medicine, the bottle fell to the floor. As Ding Zhitong helped pick it up, Gan Yang apologized, admitting how childish it had been to make her choose between him and money. Now, going through the same struggle, he realized the importance of financial stability. The endless social obligations had caused his illness.

Ding Zhitong handed him a glass of water with the medicine, but as he took it and looked closely, he realized everything was just his imagination—Ding Zhitong wasn’t really there. Ding Zhitong called Song Mingmei and said she planned to marry Feng Sheng. Feng Sheng had quit his job for her and was the only one willing to stay by her side.

Song Mingmei advised her to think it through and not marry someone she didn’t love, but still told Gan Yang about the wedding. Gan Yang showed up at the bridal fitting, but before they could talk, he asked why she was marrying Feng Sheng—was it out of love or because she hated Gan Yang? Ding Zhitong snapped back, asking why he thought she would degrade herself out of hatred.

She insisted she loved Feng Sheng and told Gan Yang never to appear again. Gan Yang could only smile and wish her well as he said goodbye, but as he turned away, tears fell uncontrollably. After he left, Ding Zhitong squatted on the ground and cried in silence. Time flew by, and six years passed. Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang participated in a competition together. Gan Yang let go of Ding Zhitong’s hand during the race.

He had never changed his phone number, but Ding Zhitong had long since changed hers. She gave him a new number. During drinks after the event, everyone toasted Gan Yang, but Xu Chenxi stepped in and drank for him. Ding Zhitong insisted on toasting Gan Yang herself. Her words were laced with aggression, making Gan Yang uncomfortable and drink more, only to be stopped again by Xu Chenxi. Ding Zhitong noticed everything.

Gan Yang pulled Ding Zhitong aside to the restroom, trying to ask how she had been lately. Ding Zhitong didn’t want to engage at all. On the way back, her mind was filled with images of Xu Chenxi taking care of Gan Yang. When she heard that her investment partner this time was Gan Yang, Song Mingmei offered to accompany her, but Ding Zhitong declined.

Gan Yang drank too much and had a relapse of his stomach illness, ending up in the hospital. The company asked Ding Zhitong to apologize. At the hospital, Xu Chenxi looked after Gan Yang, constantly scolding him for being love-struck, afraid that he might recklessly agree to the funding. Gan Yang recalled seeing Feng Sheng wearing a wedding ring at a restaurant, and heard he had bought a house nearby and planned to get a bigger one for the child.

It all seemed so blissful. Since then, Gan Yang avoided hearing anything related to Ding Zhitong. Gan Yang explained to Xu Chenxi that he just wanted to know whether Ding Zhitong was doing well and wouldn’t invest recklessly. Seeing him so uncomfortable, Xu Chenxi fed him and wiped his mouth, just as Ding Zhitong arrived at the hospital and saw them. Furious, she threw the flowers into the trash.

Ding Zhitong tried to submit her resignation, but Director Zhang couldn’t understand why someone as hardworking as her would quit. How could this one project cause such pressure? Realizing it was tied to her future, Ding Zhitong immediately took back her resignation and expressed determination to stay. She was confident that Gan Yang would show up at the press conference in two days.

At the Langteng press conference, Gan Yang hosted in person, though it was noticeably quieter than the one by rival Shuchi Footwear. He exposed the fake online prices and presented the real data. During the event, he quoted a line from Ding Zhitong: “Make shoes so good that even people who hate running will love to run. ” Ding Zhitong’s assistant, seeing Gan Yang turn things around, was filled with admiration for him.

Ding Zhitong arranged a meeting with Gan Yang to discuss collaboration. Xu Chenxi strongly opposed it. Gan Yang suggested adding Ding Zhitong on WeChat, but she signaled for her assistant to add instead, and Gan Yang also asked his assistant to add hers.

Episode 18 Recap

Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong agreed to have a meal together. Gan Yang was very curious about why Ding Zhitong had been so interested in going to Hong Kong and also noticed that her taste in food had changed a lot. He believed that it must have taken a lot of effort for her to reach her current position in seven years.

Ding Zhitong hoped to persuade Gan Yang to accept financing from the Wang Corporation, but Gan Yang believed that their newly designed products were bound to be a hit and they were not short on funds, so he didn’t want to accept the money. Ding Zhitong insisted that she would not give up, and Gan Yang realized that she was still the same as before—once she set her mind to something, she would see it through to the end.

The meal ended unhappily, and the two parted ways. Annie, the restaurant owner, saw Ding Zhitong leaving and offered to settle the bill, saying that Gan Yang’s friends were her friends too. Unexpectedly, Ding Zhitong insisted on splitting the bill evenly. Annie later approached Gan Yang, brought him a cake to celebrate the success of his product launch, and hoped he would take a photo and post it on his Moments.

Gan Yang declined, but Annie said she would not easily give up her feelings for him. Gan Yang and Wang Yi returned to the company, delighted that their current figures had far exceeded those of their competitors. Just as they were basking in their success, Xu Chenxi approached with a stick, demanding an explanation for the falsified data. The two of them immediately exchanged glances and fled in different directions.

After meeting with Gan Yang, Ding Zhitong realized that it wouldn’t be easy to get financing from him. She and her assistant decided to approach the other two shareholders separately in hopes of bypassing Gan Yang for support. In Xiamen, Ding Zhitong found President Li playing tennis and tried to bring up the financing topic, but before she could speak, he insisted she play a match.

Ding Zhitong could barely cope and nearly fell, but Gan Yang arrived in time to support her. Filled with anger, he joined the match against President Li and played until Li surrendered. Ding Zhitong tried to speak privately with him about the partnership, but President Li, not wanting to offend Gan Yang, rejected her. Frustrated, Ding Zhitong left, and Gan Yang chased after her. Deng Baiting, in pursuit of greater profits, secretly sold out the company’s mutual agreement.

Song Mingmei was furious, stressing that while many things could be tolerated, this one couldn’t. Meanwhile, Shuchi's team tried to poach Wang Yi by offering a large sum of money. After returning, Wang Yi regretted it deeply and insisted that Gan Yang treat him to a meal to make it up. Gan Yang reluctantly agreed.

Then, Sun Hao messaged to say that it was Ding Zhitong who had caused Gan Yang to end up in the hospital from drinking last time, and now she had invited him to dinner to talk about financing—he vowed to make her pay for it as revenge for Gan Yang. Gan Yang immediately asked Sun Hao to send his location and rushed off, apologizing to Wang Yi for missing dinner.

By the time Gan Yang arrived, Sun Hao was already drunk, and Ding Zhitong had also had quite a bit to drink. Sun Hao, seeing Gan Yang, loudly expressed his loyalty, boasting about having gotten Ding Zhitong drunk. Ding Zhitong misunderstood and accused Gan Yang of setting her up. Gan Yang explained that it had nothing to do with him.

Ding Zhitong told him not to show up the next time she met with another shareholder, to prove his innocence in all this. Drunk, Ding Zhitong tried to hail a cab but failed. Gan Yang offered to drive her home, worried about how much she had drunk. Ding Zhitong explained that she had thrown up in the bathroom. Gan Yang was distressed, saying that this was harmful to her health.

He stopped midway to buy medicine for her, which reminded Ding Zhitong of how Gan Yang once ran out to buy her medicine during a job interview. To keep herself from softening, she got out of the car and left on her own. When Gan Yang returned, she was already gone, so he went alone to their former residence. Everything remained unchanged, but neither of them could sleep that night.

Desperate, they both got up almost simultaneously to exercise—Gan Yang ran as usual, while Ding Zhitong went to the gym to vent her emotions on the treadmill. Next to Ding Zhitong, a man got a stitch while running. She quickly told him to stop and helped him adjust his breathing, warning that he shouldn’t run so fast without warming up. Everything she taught him was something she had learned from Gan Yang.

The man’s phone fell under the treadmill, and Ding Zhitong lifted the machine so he could retrieve it. After the man left, he got into a car—he had come prepared. He already knew Ding Zhitong and wanted to use her as Gan Yang’s weakness to take down the training box. But he hadn’t expected Ding Zhitong to be so special—even able to lift a treadmill by herself. No wonder Gan Yang had never forgotten her.

Song Mingmei advised Ding Zhitong to play the emotional card with Gan Yang—it was the sure way to win over the client. Ding Zhitong didn’t want anything to stand in the way of her promotion to DM. Gan Yang’s company’s shoes broke records upon launch, delighting everyone. He offered to treat the team to dinner and even gave Jiang Li a bonus equivalent to a month’s salary, leaving everyone cheering.

Gan Yang took everyone to a small restaurant—the starting point of Langteng. Wang Yi recalled that there were many times he wanted to give up, but Gan Yang kept him going with a figurative “little whip,” leading to their current success. Xu Chenxi, knowing that Gan Yang had invited Ding Zhitong to Beijing, got angry, thinking he wanted to revisit old places with her.

Gan Yang clarified that the company’s success was due to the three of them, and he would never let personal feelings hurt the business. That was his promise to Xu Chenxi. One evening, after coaxing her child to sleep, Song Mingmei received a message from her smart scale—but the weight wasn’t hers. She suspected it belonged to another woman and called the security office, learning that a woman had entered with Deng Baiting.

Annie brought a lot of food to Gan Yang, but since he wasn’t there, Wang Yi quickly helped himself. Just then, Xu Chenxi arrived and mentioned that her mother had sent pig intestines, which she had been reluctant to eat but gave to Gan Yang—only for him to complain. Hearing this, Wang Yi couldn’t resist and insisted they eat them together that night. Xu Chenxi joked that Shuchi’s people used the wrong approach trying to poach Wang Yi—they should’ve used food, not money.

Episode 19 Recap

In Beijing, Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang arrived together. In the car, Gan Yang handed Ding Zhitong the water she used to like and asked whether she had been here after graduation. Ding Zhitong openly said she had, implying that what happened with Gan Yang hadn’t affected her emotionally. After his meeting, Gan Yang dozed off in the car and unknowingly leaned on Ding Zhitong’s shoulder.

Ding Zhitong recalled the time when she had fallen asleep and Gan Yang shielded her from the sun, so she also reached out to block the light for him, and even instinctively reached to touch his nose—only to be seen by the driver. But when Gan Yang woke up, Ding Zhitong had already put her guarded demeanor back on. When Gan Yang asked her about Feng Sheng, Ding Zhitong didn’t give a clear answer.

Song Mingmei found out that Deng Baiting had cheated with another woman and rushed over to expose him on the spot. She warned Deng Baiting to prepare for her divorce lawsuit. At the same time, Gan Yang’s driver told him he had seen Ding Zhitong trying to touch his face and warned him not to let her take advantage. But Gan Yang was overjoyed and asked the driver to investigate everything about Ding Zhitong.

The next day, when he learned she was unmarried, he was ecstatic. Hearing that the Wang family intended to invest in Gan Yang’s company, Shu Chi’s President Zhan immediately sent someone to contact them, determined to secure the deal before Gan Yang did. Gan Yang invited Ding Zhitong to dinner, but she wasn’t sure whether she should go, so she called Song Mingmei. Song Mingmei told her to dress beautifully to charm him—but not to go soft-hearted.

The next day, Ding Zhitong set out to find Gan Yang, but during the taxi ride, she heard a woman crying on the radio about her boyfriend of three years suddenly disappearing. Feeling the same pain, Ding Zhitong canceled the appointment. Later, Ding Zhitong visited the place where she attended university. The place was filled with memories of her and Gan Yang, and she was overcome with emotion.

Suddenly, it began to pour, and she ran into a convenience store for shelter—where she ran into Gan Yang, who had come to shop. Only then did Gan Yang realize that Ding Zhitong had come but didn’t show up for the dinner. Ding Zhitong didn’t want to bring up the past and resisted Gan Yang, insisting she was a married woman. They sat at different spots in the store.

A girl approached Ding Zhitong, recognizing her as a senior and said she believed Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang would reconcile, because even though Gan Yang sat outside, he never left—he was worried Ding Zhitong would get wet. Ding Zhitong looked at Gan Yang. They stared at each other, but neither spoke. Ding Zhitong unknowingly drank too much, and the girl called Gan Yang over.

He helped Ding Zhitong back to his place, only to find that his password was her birthday. The drunken Ding Zhitong warned him not to use her birthday. Gan Yang agreed indulgently. Ding Zhitong, feeling parched, asked for water. When Gan Yang returned with it, she was already asleep. Her dress had slipped, revealing the same one she had prepared back then to meet Liu Yongjuan. Gan Yang smiled at the sight.

When Ding Zhitong woke up, Gan Yang had already prepared breakfast and even laid out his clothes for her. Ding Zhitong was worried she might have said something inappropriate while drunk and asked Gan Yang not to mind. Gan Yang kept staring at her, making her shift the topic to work. Gan Yang interrupted her and reminded her that everything he had now—especially the running shoe matrix—was based on the plan he had once told her about.

He wouldn’t let anything interfere with it, but he hoped she could join some of his company’s financing projects—though not this one. Ding Zhitong was upset and said she didn’t want to continue the conversation. Gan Yang pointed out that he knew she wasn’t actually married to Feng Sheng and explained that he hadn’t changed at all—he had never forgotten her and had only ever loved her.

Ding Zhitong lied, saying she and Feng Sheng had a secret marriage, so it was no surprise no one knew. Gan Yang exposed her recent behavior toward him and said it proved she loved him. But Ding Zhitong denied it all and insisted it was just an act to secure the financing project—even her getting drunk was fake. If it weren’t for the training box, she said, she wouldn’t even want to see Gan Yang.

Ding Zhitong stormed out of Gan Yang’s home. Helpless, Gan Yang had his driver take her back to the hotel. But neither of them could calm their hearts. Ding Zhitong kept thinking of Gan Yang’s confession, while Gan Yang couldn’t stop replaying Ding Zhitong’s hurtful words—that everything was just for the training box. Ding Zhitong recalled the painful image of her mother dying in the hospital bed.

Though the two were in different places, their tears fell at the same time. Song Mingmei came to pick Ding Zhitong up, only to realize that Gan Yang had been following all along. Ding Zhitong didn’t bother acknowledging him and kept walking, but they ended up arriving at the same place—Manhattan Residences. Gan Yang explained he lived there. But this was once Ding Zhitong’s dream. She believed Gan Yang had done it on purpose, and they had another unpleasant exchange.

Song Mingmei also told Ding Zhitong about Deng Baiting’s affair and hoped she could help take care of her child, Yulin. Ding Zhitong hugged her to comfort her. Song Mingmei let out a long sigh, disappointed that what she thought was a good judgment turned out to be wrong. The next morning, when Ding Zhitong went running, she bumped into Gan Yang, who was also out for a jog. They looked at each other, but said nothing.

Episode 20 Recap

While Ding Zhitong was running on the treadmill at the gym, the man who had nearly had an accident during a previous run showed up. Ding Zhitong seemed to have forgotten him, but the man took the initiative to strike up a conversation. Noticing that Ding Zhitong seemed troubled, he asked about it, and she admitted she was stuck in a dead end.

The man tried to reassure her, saying missing out on one or two projects wouldn’t be the end of the world, but Ding Zhitong was determined to secure this one. Pretending to be a fortune-teller, he told her that there would definitely be a turning point within five days. Ding Zhitong didn’t take it seriously, but promised that if it really happened, she’d treat him to a meal.

When Ding Zhitong arrived at work, she found that Vivian’s team had achieved great results and even shared their rewards with her team, though clearly to show off. Ding Zhitong didn’t take it to heart, but President Zhang came and told her that only by securing the Langteng project would she have a shot at becoming MD—otherwise, it might go to Vivian. The path with Gan Yang had reached a dead end, and she would need to find another way.

At home, Gan Yang was holding a meeting with Xu Chenxi and Wang Yi, but his eyes kept drifting toward the lights in Ding Zhitong’s room. Xu Chenxi was unhappy with his attitude. Gan Yang reluctantly pulled his gaze back and made a few perfunctory remarks, but still couldn’t help looking back across. In Sanya, by the swimming pool, Song Mingmei was in a bad mood and kept drinking.

She remembered what Deng Baiting had said—accusing her of never truly having feelings for him, of being more affectionate even with tacit understandings than with him. They had argued. Song Mingmei felt that if she didn’t care, she wouldn’t have been discussing business deals while pregnant. A colleague's call snapped her out of it, and she joined everyone to drink champagne and offer to treat them, but then she suddenly noticed Qin Chang standing nearby.

She couldn’t take her eyes off him and was accidentally knocked into the pool. Qin Chang rescued her, then left before she regained consciousness. When she woke up, he was already gone, and she briefly wondered if she had imagined the whole thing. The next day, Song Mingmei went to the restaurant to have congee and saw Qin Chang again, this time chatting with a female classmate who looked at him admiringly.

Song Mingmei took the initiative to greet him, but Qin Chang pretended not to remember her, so she had to introduce herself. Song Mingmei called Ding Zhitong and told her about running into Qin Chang. She didn’t want him to know she was divorced, fearing he’d think she was doing poorly. She even bought a big diamond ring to wear.

Now that she and Deng Baiting had moved on to dividing their assets, she hoped Ding Zhitong could help her come up with a plan. When Song Mingmei came down with a fever, she called the front desk to request a thermometer and medicine, only to be surprised when it was Qin Chang who showed up. Qin Chang claimed the hotel was owned by a friend and, knowing they knew each other, had sent him on purpose.

Song Mingmei stubbornly insisted she was married and even showed him a family photo of three. Qin Chang complimented her daughter’s looks but mocked her husband. Wu Xun had a bit too much to drink and sprained his ankle while running. He claimed the injury was caused by Langteng’s faulty shoes and data fraud. The situation started to snowball, and many people began returning their shoes.

After hearing about this, Ding Zhitong asked her team to keep following up—it might provide a breakthrough for the training box investment project. At the same time, the man who had met Ding Zhitong at the gym revealed himself—he was President Wang of the Wang Group, the person behind the incident. He escalated the situation to help Ding Zhitong secure the training box deal.

People from Shuchi approached President Wang to discuss a collaboration, but he turned them away—he was interested in Gan Yang’s capabilities. Ding Zhitong secretly met with minor shareholders of Langteng, proposed an investment, and successfully convinced several of them to sign confirmations. Coincidentally, she ran into Gan Yang and Xu Chenxi, who were meeting with a representative from a video platform. Xu Chenxi suspected that Ding Zhitong had orchestrated everything behind the scenes.

Ding Zhitong, annoyed, admitted it all and emphasized that she was determined to destroy Gan Yang’s dream. But Gan Yang wasn’t angry—he was just happy that she still remembered his dream. Privately, Ding Zhitong tried to help shift public opinion in the entertainment space. At the gym, she couldn’t help complaining—she shouldn’t have run into Gan Yang at a time like this. She was mad at herself for still being upset because of him. Coincidentally, Gan Yang overheard these mutterings.

Just then, Gan Yang got news that Wu Xun had been found. He rushed over to confront him and demanded a public clarification. Wu Xun, feeling guilty and overwhelmed by Gan Yang’s presence, had no choice but to agree. The Langteng issue was quickly resolved, just as Ding Zhitong had expected. She was relieved that she had already persuaded some minority shareholders to sign. Now, even if Gan Yang wanted to veto the deal, he would have to think twice.

That evening, Gan Yang was going to a hot pot restaurant with Wang Yi and happened to see Feng Sheng having dinner with Ding Zhitong. Feng Sheng had brought his fiancée to meet with Ding Zhitong, but the fiancée stepped out to take a call about wedding dresses. Seeing Ding Zhitong laughing and chatting with Feng Sheng made Gan Yang uncomfortable. He wanted to figure out what was going on, so he went in to ask.

But Ding Zhitong grabbed Feng Sheng’s arm on purpose to make Gan Yang believe they were married. Gan Yang, feeling he shouldn’t interfere in her life anymore, decided to back off. After returning home, Ding Zhitong remained in a low mood. She confessed her real feelings—she felt that rather than helping Gan Yang get funding, she had actually destroyed his matrix dream. But she didn’t want to hear Gan Yang’s explanations, fearing she’d soften.

She didn’t want to get hurt emotionally again. Song Mingmei, seeing her in pain, took it upon herself to confront Gan Yang. She lashed out at him for breaking up with Ding Zhitong in the past, causing her to become emaciated, sleepless, and dependent on sleeping pills. It had taken her a long time to recover, and now she was taking sleeping pills again because she ran into him.

This time, she had even refused his project because she remembered his dream, but had been forced into it by her superiors. Song Mingmei just hoped that Gan Yang could stay away from Ding Zhitong’s life—only without him could she truly live well. After Song Mingmei left, Gan Yang called his assistant and ordered a meeting with all the shareholders of the training box the next day.

Episode 21 Recap

At the shareholders' meeting the next day, Gan Yang brought up the financing matter for the training box. He was aware that most of those present had already signed the agreement, and while some expressed support for Gan Yang's decision, to everyone’s surprise and relief, Gan Yang unexpectedly agreed to the financing. Gan Yang went outside alone. Wang Yi approached him to ask the reason.

Gan Yang explained that he was thinking of the company’s best interests—most people had agreed, and with financing, they could better enter the market without affecting decision-making power. Wang Yi said he understood and trusted Gan Yang’s judgment, then asked if Gan Yang had explained it clearly to Ding Zhitong. He figured Ding Zhitong would come for due diligence later, giving them plenty of opportunities to talk.

But Gan Yang expressed his wish that after the financing, Ding Zhitong be transferred away from the project so she could live a peaceful life without being disturbed by him. He didn’t want her to know about the past either. Wang Yi worried this might affect Ding Zhitong’s promotion, but Gan Yang said he had already arranged a bigger project for her to ensure her promotion and allow her to fully step out of his life.

President Zhang brought Ding Zhitong to discuss the financing details and praised her capabilities. Gan Yang agreed to the financing without hesitation, but with one condition: that Ding Zhitong withdraw from the project. Ding Zhitong glared at Gan Yang, and the two stared at each other for a long time without saying a word. President Wang was surprised to hear that Ding Zhitong was being replaced, but had no reason to object.

He instructed his staff to agree to it and also had them give Ding Zhitong an expensive bottle of red wine as thanks for her past efforts. President Zhang knew that without Ding Zhitong, Gan Yang wouldn't have agreed to the financing. Judging by Wang's reaction, he also recognized her abilities. There was a project in Hong Kong specifically requesting her to lead. But before that, she could take a one-week break.

Ding Zhitong proposed that her subordinate, Li Jiaxin, continue handling the current project. President Zhang saw that Ding Zhitong wanted to help Li Jiaxin get promoted and readily agreed. Li Jiaxin was angry at Gan Yang. She had once admired him, but now she felt pushed aside. Ding Zhitong told her she could still follow up on the project, which made Li Jiaxin happy. Ding Zhitong didn't know the man she had once coached in running was actually President Wang.

They had previously agreed that if the project succeeded, she’d treat him to a meal. Although she didn’t get to keep the project, she still took him out to eat and brought that bottle of wine. President Wang introduced himself as Wilson and reminded her that the wine was very expensive, something only seen at auctions. Ding Zhitong didn’t mind and generously treated him, earning Wilson’s admiration for her generosity.

Gan Yang kept staring at the light in Ding Zhitong’s apartment upstairs. When he saw that it was still on late at night, he went downstairs to “take out the trash” and ran into her. He apologized for asking her to step away from the training box project, explaining that he did it only so she could have a peaceful and happy life, and that he would also withdraw from her life and stop bothering her.

Ding Zhitong retorted sharply and went back to her place but couldn’t sleep no matter what. She kept thinking about what Gan Yang said and felt uneasy. Eventually, she took some sleeping pills again. The next morning, Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang both came out to the balcony to exercise and noticed each other watching, then both turned away.

When Ding Zhitong went to pick up her food delivery, she saw that the order slip included items Gan Yang had picked—dishes she liked. She told Song Mingmei about it, but Song Mingmei reminded her that the food she ordered was also what Gan Yang liked. Wanting to fully leave that place, Ding Zhitong planned to sell her apartment and move to Hong Kong. When Gan Yang saw that, he offered to move out instead.

But Ding Zhitong ignored him and told him directly that she just wanted to go to Hong Kong as soon as possible. Song Mingmei asked Ding Zhitong for help finding out who was in charge of the Hexie project, hoping she could use her connections. It turned out to be Qin Yu. Ding Zhitong took the chance to ask about Qin Chang’s role and learned from Qin Yu that Qin Chang was now the second-in-command.

Even she didn’t have the authority to find out more. Song Mingmei accused Deng Baiting of being despicable—selling his shares and threatening her with custody of their child. Unexpectedly, Qin Chang appeared behind them and witnessed their argument. Song Mingmei was instantly mortified, especially after having boasted to him about how happy her marriage was—only to be utterly humiliated. She blamed Ding Zhitong for giving her inaccurate information.

But Ding Zhitong hadn’t expected Qin Chang to come for such a minor issue either. She speculated maybe he came to support Song Mingmei, and at least now they didn’t have to worry about Qin Chang being bought off by Deng Baiting. Song Mingmei thought that made sense. At that moment, Feng Sheng and his wife Yu Shangna happened to run into Ding Zhitong and Song Mingmei while out shopping.

Song Mingmei was surprised that out of everyone, Feng Sheng seemed to be the happiest. When Ding Zhitong was packing to go to Hong Kong, she saw a trending topic online—Wu Xun had changed his story and now claimed he was forced by Gan Yang to clarify the video. The matter quickly escalated. Gan Yang had Xu Chenxi go to the police to gather information and also called an emergency meeting to resolve the crisis.

After understanding the seriousness of the situation, Ding Zhitong browsed her social media feed and noticed something odd about Wu Xun, which made her cancel her plans to leave. She went to a bar to check the surveillance footage, claiming she had lost something. But the staff thought she had ulterior motives and refused. Just then, the manager arrived and told everyone that since Ding Zhitong was a friend of President Wang, she could view the footage freely.

On the footage, she saw that the day before the run, Wu Xun had been drinking, which led to him falling and spraining his ankle. She anonymously sent the video to Wang Yi, and with it, Gan Yang quickly stabilized the situation. Seeing that Gan Yang was no longer in trouble, Ding Zhitong decided to leave. Just as she arrived at the airport, Gan Yang rushed over—but they still missed each other.

Gan Yang didn’t see her, as she had already passed through security. Then he unexpectedly saw Feng Sheng and Yu Shangna together and mistakenly thought Feng Sheng had betrayed Ding Zhitong. In his rage, he punched Feng Sheng. Feng Sheng explained that he was never married to Ding Zhitong. The year Gan Yang came looking for her, Feng Sheng had lied to him. He admitted he had wronged Gan Yang. Gan Yang watched the plane take off, overwhelmed by mixed emotions.

Episode 22 Recap

In Hong Kong, while Ding Zhitong was in a meeting, receptionist Xiao Li called to inform her that Gan Yang had asked to see her. However, Ding Zhitong did not meet with Gan Yang, and his arrival distracted her from her work. When Ding Zhitong got off work, Gan Yang blocked her downstairs, but she called security, pretending not to know him and asking them to remove him.

Song Mingmei brought afternoon tea for the company but deliberately didn’t bring any for Deng Baiting, instead giving a portion to Qin Chang. She was about to finalize all the agreements with Deng Baiting, after which she would be the sole voice in the project. She was clearly in a good mood. Qin Chang asked if she wasn’t worried that he and Deng Baiting might deliberately miscalculate the valuation, but Song Mingmei said she wasn’t.

If that really happened, it would mean Qin Chang cared about her deep down. Wang Yi noticed Xu Chenxi was feeling down and suggested they go home and eat something good. But as they approached her door, they saw her pursuer Yang He standing outside refusing to leave. Since Wang Yi was a boxer, he reluctantly offered to let Xu Chenxi temporarily stay at his place to avoid the situation.

Unable to meet Ding Zhitong directly, Gan Yang approached her through her supervisor under the guise of a collaboration project. To facilitate better cooperation, he began by explaining the development history of his brand. He recounted how he went bankrupt, was taken to court by his father, and how he and Xu Chenxi set up a trap to expose Gan Kunliang’s fake leg injury, forcing him to sell his shares.

Gan Kunliang, angry at Gan Yang, demanded ten million to give up his shares. Gan Yang agreed and publicly announced he would have no further relationship with Gan Kunliang. Xu Chenxi wanted to fund Gan Yang, but he refused. Instead, he asked her to sell the engagement ring he had originally bought for Ding Zhitong and sold all the properties left by his mother.

From then on, to grow his company, Gan Yang kept reaching out to major corporations and frequently had to drink for business, which led to stomach problems. Technically, Wang Yi was always a strong support for him. Dr. Chen had also been waiting for Gan Yang’s return. After finding a breakthrough, Gan Yang borrowed twenty million from Dr. Chen and promised to pay it back within three years. Dr.

Chen said that if he couldn't, he’d have to work for him for life, which was a fair trade given Gan Yang’s worth. With the funding, Gan Yang’s career took off, and Liu Yongjuan’s condition improved significantly. Liu Yongjuan wept with heartache for her son, and Gan Yang believed things would only get better. Gan Yang wrote out his company’s development history in detail on a whiteboard and explained why he broke up with Ding Zhitong.

Ding Zhitong clenched her hands tightly but still coldly asked Gan Yang to leave, claiming she had another meeting. However, as she looked at the black text on the whiteboard, tears rolled down her cheeks. She felt the hardship Gan Yang had gone through and finally understood his reasons for ending their relationship. Gan Yang bought two concert tickets and sent a photo of them to Ding Zhitong, inviting her to the 8 PM concert.

Ding Zhitong didn’t reply, but she kept checking the time on her phone while sitting in the office. Meanwhile, Gan Yang sat outside the concert venue, waiting for her. As the clock struck eight, Ding Zhitong couldn’t focus on work anymore. She packed up and rushed out. By then, Gan Yang was already sitting silently in the rain, waiting. Ding Zhitong arrived with an umbrella, feeling a deep heartache at the sight of him.

Gan Yang smiled and reminisced about how they used to sit like this together outside. He sincerely asked her to stay and listen to the concert with him. The two sat outside, just like before, listening to the music and drinking beer. Gan Yang admitted that he used to fear that even if he told Ding Zhitong the whole truth, she might still leave. Over the years, he had stayed away so she could live peacefully and happily.

But now, he didn’t want to give up anymore. Ding Zhitong stubbornly said they could never get back together, but Gan Yang talked about meeting Feng Sheng and how, as long as he persisted, things could work out. He expressed his love for her and asked if she still loved him. Ding Zhitong’s tears fell as she admitted she did. But when Gan Yang, having not heard clearly, asked again, she said nothing more.

She also wished none of this had ever happened—then she could have loved him fearlessly. Feeling torn, Gan Yang called Wang Yi for help, asking why Ding Zhitong still couldn’t forgive him. Just as Wang Yi was about to analyze, Gan Yang received a message from Ding Zhitong, inviting him to dinner that evening. Gan Yang hung up excitedly.

Episode 23 Recap

Gan Yang deliberately brought flowers to see Ding Zhitong. Ding Zhitong also personally cooked a meal for Gan Yang. She wasn’t sure if Gan Yang’s tastes had changed, so she made the dishes the way he used to like them—something she learned to do after their breakup. Ding Zhitong told Gan Yang she had forgiven him. She was angry that Gan Yang had never spoken about everything.

Perhaps even if he had told her back then, they might have ended up separating anyway due to debt over time. Gan Yang held Ding Zhitong’s hand and shared what his mother had said to him—when things went wrong at home, his mother would rather he never return, so he could live a peaceful life on his own. That was love. And in the same way, he had hoped that Ding Zhitong could live her own life.

Ding Zhitong pulled her hand out of Gan Yang’s and said she hoped they could remain friends. She called Song Mingmei to tell her about it. Song Mingmei recalled how she had once gone to see Gan Yang and asked him to leave Ding Zhitong’s life. Maybe it was because of this that Gan Yang had pushed Ding Zhitong out of the training box. Song Mingmei blamed Ding Zhitong for not telling Gan Yang what happened after the breakup.

But Ding Zhitong simply didn’t want Gan Yang to know everything, and Song Mingmei was helpless. That night, Ding Zhitong couldn’t sleep, thinking about how her mother passed away. She knelt by the hospital bed and cried. Gan Yang’s company suddenly ran into trouble, and he had to fly back from Hong Kong to handle it. President Zhang came to see Ding Zhitong.

He was now in charge of the training box, but disagreements among shareholders made things difficult, and he was too busy to manage everything. Gan Yang wanted Ding Zhitong to continue running it, but at the same time, the Wang Group also sent a project hoping Ding Zhitong would take it on. Ding Zhitong said she needed time to think. That evening, Wilson invited Ding Zhitong for dinner.

She shared her concerns with him and said she wanted to help Gan Yang, to contribute to his dream. After she left, Wilson called his assistant and ordered that Ding Zhitong be appointed the Wang Group’s long-term financial advisor. He also canceled all his plans in Hong Kong and returned to Shanghai the next day. Gan Yang was overjoyed to see Ding Zhitong back. He constantly observed her and messaged her even though they could see each other in person.

Gan Yang kept trying to rekindle their relationship, but Ding Zhitong said she only came back to complete the project and had no plans to reconcile. Gan Yang didn’t give up and continued to invite her to dinner, but she didn’t agree. That night, seeing that Ding Zhitong was still working late, Gan Yang turned off the lights and declared that the company didn’t encourage overtime, asking everyone to go home.

Wang Yi couldn’t help but laugh when he heard it. While out together, Ding Zhitong accidentally twisted her ankle. Gan Yang immediately ran back and brought her a pair of shoes, personally helping her put them on. The shoes fit perfectly, but Ding Zhitong insisted on transferring money to him. Gan Yang was delighted—not because of the money, but because she still remembered his account number. Embarrassed, Ding Zhitong quickly left.

But Gan Yang got into her car, looking unwell with a stomachache, which worried Ding Zhitong, and she quickly took him to buy some food. At the supermarket, Gan Yang seemed totally fine and started shopping to cook at home. Without giving her a chance to refuse, he brought Ding Zhitong back with him. Watching Gan Yang from behind, Ding Zhitong recalled her beautiful daydreams—eating, running, and living together with him. Suddenly, Ding Zhitong felt she had been tricked.

Gan Yang had faked a stomachache just to go shopping. She threw him out, but he still reminded her that the soup needed ten more minutes and that she should refrigerate the vegetables. He also told her not to forget his shoes in the room. Ding Zhitong threw those out too. Song Mingmei came to talk to Ding Zhitong about her divorce dispute with Deng Baiting and tried to persuade her to understand Gan Yang.

Ding Zhitong admitted she did understand him, but if Gan Yang had truly revealed everything back then, maybe she wouldn’t have left. Still, she wasn’t sure if mutual support would have turned into mutual suffering. Now that she was in her thirties, love was no longer her only concern. During a night run, Ding Zhitong ran into Wilson, and they decided to jog together. She saw President Lin and wanted to greet him but felt too underdressed to enter.

Unexpectedly, Wilson pulled her in—it was a private club, and everyone greeted Wilson warmly. That’s when Ding Zhitong realized Wilson was actually President Wang. President Wang honestly revealed his identity. Ding Zhitong warned him that this was the first and last time he could deceive her—otherwise, they couldn’t be friends anymore. She also thanked him for introducing her to new clients that day. When Ding Zhitong got back, Gan Yang was standing on the balcony watching her.

He sent messages and called her, and neither of them could sleep. Gan Yang picked up a book and started reading to Ding Zhitong in fluent English. She unknowingly sat there listening, slowly drifting off to sleep. Gan Yang smiled as he watched her fall asleep. The next day, Gan Yang brought breakfast for Ding Zhitong and asked to go to work with her. Ding Zhitong agreed to eat on the roadside first.

As soon as Gan Yang sat down, she pretended to get tissues from the car but drove off instead. Rather than getting upset, Gan Yang texted her and praised her for being adorable. However, this scene was seen by President Wang, who then ordered that Ding Zhitong’s schedule be fully booked with advisor work so she’d spend less time at the training box.

Episode 24 Recap

Song Mingmei parked her car ahead of Qin Chang and even reminded him that there was a parking lot nearby. But with the meeting about to start, she looked smug. Unexpectedly, just as she stepped into the elevator, Qin Chang walked in too and subtly reminded her to call him after work so they could leave together. Song Mingmei teased him, saying he was pursuing her, and Qin Chang just smiled.

When it was time to leave work in the evening, Song Mingmei discovered that her car had been blocked in by Qin Chang’s car. Xu Chenxi was chatting with her colleague Guan Wenyuan. Thinking about how Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong were doing now, both of them hoped the two would get back together, considering everything they’d been through.

Wang Yi reminded Guan Wenyuan that it was time to go home and sleep, and Guan Wenyuan also noticed that Wang Yi had unusual feelings toward Xu Chenxi. Wang Yi had secretly taken quite a few photos of Xu Chenxi, which were discovered by a coworker who also realized Wang Yi liked her. The coworker deliberately and casually let Xu Chenxi see their phone.

However, Xu Chenxi thought Wang Yi had only taken unflattering pictures of her and wanted to use them as leverage. Furious, she couldn’t eat, and Wang Yi was left frustrated at how badly things had backfired. At the company, Ding Zhitong overheard coworkers talking and found out that every time the company released a new shoe, Gan Yang would keep one specially printed pair as a collectible.

But now, one pair was missing, and everyone thought it might mean his true love had appeared. Looking at the shoes in the showroom, Ding Zhitong’s eyes turned red. She remembered that when Gan Yang was starting the company, she had reserved the first pair of shoes to wear. Just then, Gan Yang came looking for her, but she found an excuse to leave quickly, not giving him a chance to speak.

When Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong walked out together, they happened to run into President Wang, who had come to pick up Ding Zhitong. He warned Gan Yang that Ding Zhitong would be very busy from now on and it was best not to disturb her, especially since he knew Gan Yang had even put his office inside the training box. Gan Yang went home fuming and furiously chopped vegetables.

He could tell that President Wang liked Ding Zhitong, but from her reaction, she probably wasn’t aware of it. At that time, Ding Zhitong was out inspecting a camping project with President Wang. But she was lost in thought watching fireflies, reminiscing about watching them with Gan Yang, a smile appearing on her face unconsciously. President Wang remarked that fireflies have short lives and are most beautiful when they glow.

Ding Zhitong, with deeper meaning, brought up how her relationship with Gan Yang had ended, and they likely couldn’t go back. Just then, she received a message from Gan Yang—he had made dinner and was waiting for her to come back and eat with him. Ding Zhitong didn’t reply, and President Wang noticed everything. Qin Chang brought a late-night snack to Song Mingmei, while Deng Baiting called her. She ignored the call, instantly feeling down.

She felt that she and Deng Baiting were indeed incompatible and didn’t regret the divorce. Qin Chang bluntly said the one who was truly right for Song Mingmei had been missed all along. He also made it clear that he had broken up with his previous girlfriend. Song Mingmei replied that he could now pursue any girl he wanted—including her.

Qin Chang couldn’t help but smile, but Song Mingmei quickly threw in a challenge: only if he could actually win her over. When President Wang brought Ding Zhitong home, they ran into Gan Yang who had come to pick her up. The three simply exchanged looks and parted unhappily. But that night, Gan Yang still read a passage aloud to Ding Zhitong before saying goodnight. Ding Zhitong, in turn, put that pair of shoes into a cardboard box.

Guan Wenyuan called Xu Chenxi to tell her that Wang Yi liked her. Xu Chenxi couldn’t believe it and ran out to confront Wang Yi about whether he liked her. Before Wang Yi could respond, they saw Yang He approaching on the phone monitor. Wang Yi urged Xu Chenxi to go rest while she went out to face Yang He alone. Yang He, furious that Wang Yi had hidden Xu Chenxi, attacked her.

Hearing the commotion, Xu Chenxi rushed out and warned Yang He that if he didn’t leave, she would call the police—the place was under surveillance. Only then did Yang He leave. Seeing Wang Yi injured, Xu Chenxi was heartbroken and wiped her wounds with care. Later that night, watching Wang Yi clean her glasses, Xu Chenxi shed tears—those glasses were a birthday gift from her, and Wang Yi had always treasured them.

The next morning, Gan Yang stopped Ding Zhitong and offered to drive her to the office, but she declined. Coincidentally, President Wang had sent a car to pick her up. Ding Zhitong’s schedule was packed every day, leaving her little opportunity to speak with Gan Yang. Even when they met, it was just in passing. Gan Yang noticed she wasn’t wearing the shoes he had given her.

Since divorcing Song Mingmei, Deng Baiting had started to regret it and kept calling her. Song Mingmei warned him to quickly sign the supplementary agreement. When Deng Baiting was eating at a restaurant, he accidentally saw a photo of Song Mingmei and Qin Chang together and was convinced they were having an affair. Later, Song Mingmei visited the university where Qin Chang taught, but Deng Baiting followed and saw her. He accused her of cheating.

Enraged by Deng Baiting’s actions, Song Mingmei kissed Qin Chang in public and warned Deng Baiting that if he had evidence, he could sue her. If not, he had to sign the equity agreement by tomorrow—or she’d make sure he got nothing. Song Mingmei and Qin Chang went to a barbecue stall near the university. Qin Chang asked if she hated Deng Baiting or regretted her decision six years ago. Song Mingmei said she neither hated him nor regretted it.

Six years ago, she had wanted to go somewhere and even begged Qin Chang for help. Now that place had invited her, but she wasn’t sure she’d go. After a few drinks, Song Mingmei became emotional. Even though she had money now, she still longed for steady happiness and felt a bit greedy. Qin Chang stroked her hair, believing she would find happiness.

Looking at the dark windows in Ding Zhitong’s apartment across the street, Gan Yang called Wang Yi and asked him to agree to the shooting range interview and have Ding Zhitong come too. He knew her well—if only he had a chance to be around her, he believed he could win her back. Ding Zhitong came to see Song Mingmei, unsure how to face Gan Yang. Even though she liked him, pretending to be friends around him was exhausting.

Song Mingmei said President Wang Sen was quite good and that she might as well try getting closer to him—then she could leave Gan Yang behind. But Ding Zhitong thought she and Wang Sen were just business partners. She also suspected that tomorrow’s interview might have something to do with Gan Yang, and Song Mingmei was certain it did.

Episode 25 Recap

Gan Yang invited Ding Zhitong to the archery range through Wang Yi and deliberately arranged for shareholder Liu Dong to arrive an hour late, giving Gan Yang the chance to teach Ding Zhitong how to shoot arrows. Meanwhile, another shareholder, Yuan Chao, was in Wang Sen’s office, hoping to replace Gan Yang’s position. But even he knew he couldn’t do it, which made him resentful.

Wang Sen believed Yuan Chao had no chance—after all, Gan Yang’s office was right next to the Training Box, always watching. But Yuan Chao thought Gan Yang wasn’t watching him, but Ding Zhitong. He even told President Wang that Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang were at the archery range at that very moment. While Ding Zhitong went to the restroom, Wang Sen arrived and challenged Gan Yang to an archery match.

The loser would have to stay away from Ding Zhitong. But Gan Yang refused, saying he would never use his lover as a wager. The two continued the match until a crucial moment when an employee playing with a bow almost shot Ding Zhitong as she exited. Gan Yang pushed the bow away to protect her, causing him to lose the match—but he had no regrets, as Ding Zhitong’s safety was the most important thing to him.

Wang Sen took Ding Zhitong away under the pretense of work but ended up taking her to a night market for barbecue. During her college days, there was a barbecue stall she loved near the campus gate. Wang Sen had brought the same stall owner and equipment all the way to Shanghai. However, Ding Zhitong wasn’t touched—she didn’t even eat and left. Back in the residential complex, Ding Zhitong ate instant noodles at a convenience store near the entrance.

Coincidentally, Gan Yang came by after a run and saw her. He joined her for instant noodles and even brought her some oden. The scene reminded Ding Zhitong of when she used to eat instant noodles with Gan Yang. They chatted and laughed together. Just then, Wang Sen returned to deliver the earphones Ding Zhitong had left in his car and saw the two of them looking happy through the window. He left angrily.

The next morning, Wang Sen waited for Gan Yang outside the residential area. He demanded that Gan Yang leave Ding Zhitong, or he would make Langteng disappear from the world. He knew Gan Yang’s past debts and how much he cherished Langteng. But Gan Yang insisted—he wanted both Langteng and Ding Zhitong. The two formally declared war. The next day, as soon as Gan Yang arrived at work, he received news that someone had preemptively registered the trademark.

He had already stocked up on raw materials, making it impossible to continue production, and the company now faced a major funding gap. Gan Yang urgently held a shareholders' meeting and bowed to everyone, admitting the mistake was due to his own management oversight. However, all the shareholders, including Dr. Chen, didn’t blame him—they instead expressed their trust and support for him.

Gan Yang had previously reminded Wang Yi to register the trademark, but Wang Yi didn’t think it was a big deal. In the end, their product was registered under someone else’s name. Furious and frustrated, Wang Yi went drinking alone. Xu Chenxi and Gan Yang found him and saw how devastated he was. Gan Yang comforted Wang Yi and blamed himself for not sending someone else to handle the registration.

Xu Chenxi also blamed herself for not pushing Wang Yi harder. Neither wanted Wang Yi to drink, but he insisted, hoping to numb his nerves with alcohol. Gan Yang then offered to drink with him, but Wang Yi, worried about Gan Yang’s stomach, refused. The two started fighting over the alcohol until Xu Chenxi, exasperated, downed three bottles in a row, shocking both of them into submission. No one drank after that.

But Xu Chenxi passed out from drinking too much. Gan Yang got an urgent call and had to leave, asking Wang Yi to take her home. Wang Yi had no choice but to carry Xu Chenxi on his back. Drunk and mumbling, Xu Chenxi confessed that she hoped Wang Yi would turn to her when he felt down—she didn’t want to see him unhappy. Hearing this filled Wang Yi’s heart with warmth and satisfaction.

Gan Yang was busy every day with work. Ding Zhitong came to him upon learning about the patent issue, hoping he would tell her the truth. Gan Yang reassured her, saying he could handle everything. Though he had no concrete evidence, he suspected Wang Sen was behind it. Feeling distressed seeing how exhausted Gan Yang was, Ding Zhitong confronted Wang Sen. Wang Sen openly admitted that if she were questioning him as a financial advisor, he’d tell her the truth.

But if she were doing so as Gan Yang’s ex-girlfriend, he had no reason to answer. Ding Zhitong realized it was indeed Wang Sen’s doing. She was disgusted by his despicable behavior and announced her withdrawal from the Training Box project. That night before finishing work, Ding Zhitong prepared a cup of coffee for Gan Yang. On the cup, she wrote, “Eat well, run well, everything will pass.

”Later that night, Ding Zhitong was startled awake from sleep, worried when she noticed that Gan Yang still hadn’t come home. She looked out the window and saw his living room light on but no one inside. Thinking something had happened, she called him but got no answer. Panicking, she rushed to his place, accidentally shattered a glass and cut her foot, but didn’t even notice—she just kept running to his door, pounding on it in fear.

The commotion alarmed the neighbors, who were about to call the police when Gan Yang finally opened the door. It turned out he had fallen asleep in the bathroom while taking a shower due to exhaustion. Seeing her injured foot, Gan Yang quickly carried her inside, disinfected the wound, and put on a band-aid.

This gave Ding Zhitong a chance to see his room for the first time—it was arranged exactly like their old shared apartment, complete with their photo together and a string of paper cranes. When she saw that he had a cold, she made him ginger tea and urged him to drink it. Meanwhile, the relationship between Song Mingmei and Qin Chang deepened. Yulin also really liked Qin Chang, even hoping he could be her father.

But during a medical checkup, Song Mingmei was diagnosed with breast cancer. Qin Chang invited Song Mingmei to the same restaurant they once visited and reminisced about how she had once said she wanted to become a strong woman before turning thirty-five—it felt like it had just been yesterday. Though Song Mingmei didn’t regret her past choices, Qin Chang regretted not staying with her. He took out a ring and proposed to her.

Just then, Song Mingmei felt unwell and excused herself to the restroom. She accidentally dropped her bag, and after she left, Qin Chang picked it up and saw her medical report.

Episode 26 Recap

Qin Chang had been quietly waiting for Song Mingmei to come over. He originally wanted her to eat a bit more, but she was anxious to go back. Qin Chang didn't bring up her illness and simply took her home. After returning, Song Mingmei hugged Yulin tightly, feeling sad. Yulin wished to never be separated from her mother. Song Mingmei couldn’t bear to part with her daughter, but she also feared that her illness would ultimately separate them.

Meanwhile, Qin Chang sent Song Mingmei’s medical report to a doctor friend, seeking help to find a treatment. Ding Zhitong voluntarily exited the training pod. While running together, she learned that Gan Yang also intended to withdraw Langteng from the training pod. The company’s raw materials had not found a suitable buyer. Ding Zhitong proactively offered to cooperate and help sell the goods.

They shook hands to mark the pleasant cooperation, only to look up and see Wang Yi and Xu Chenxi acting intimately. They scolded the two for secretly dating behind their backs. Xu Chenxi deliberately held Wang Yi’s hand and loudly declared they were indeed in a relationship. Gan Yang pretended to be upset and asked the restaurant owner to prepare the two most delicious dishes to go. Ding Zhitong couldn’t help but laugh on the side.

Gan Yang signed the transfer agreement, handing the training pod over to Wang Sen, but also declared that he would never let go of what truly mattered to him. Wang Sen replied that he wouldn’t give up easily either. Both of their eyes gleamed with a sense of challenge. Wang Sen had made up his mind to defeat Gan Yang, believing that since Gan Yang had once abandoned Ding Zhitong seven years ago, he would inevitably do it again.

Gan Yang told Ding Zhitong he planned to move the company back to Putian and leave Shanghai. Putian was where Langteng had developed and where the shoe factory was located. Ding Zhitong worried it might trigger a wave of resignations, but Gan Yang believed it was the best way to cut costs and was confident he would return soon. Gan Yang announced the decision to relocate to Putian and assured that salaries would remain unchanged.

Those who didn’t go would receive three months' extra salary and a recommendation letter to another company. A young woman was the first to express her willingness to go to Putian, followed by others raising their hands one after another—no one wanted to resign. Ding Zhitong watched with tears welling in her eyes. Gan Yang publicly promised to move back to Shanghai within a year. The crowd applauded, and Gan Yang bowed deeply to thank everyone.

Qin Chang took the initiative to find Song Mingmei. She brought him along to wear an exaggerated wig and blow bubbles on the street, then went dancing. While dancing, a guy approached her, but Qin Chang stepped in and forcefully carried her outside. He knew Song Mingmei didn’t actually want to play, nor was she truly happy—it was all pretend. Qin Chang brought up the time six years ago when he saw her off at the airport.

He regretted not confessing and not waiting for her return. He promised to stay by her side in the future, through everything, including her illness. Qin Chang took out the ring he had prepared long ago and proposed to Song Mingmei, vowing to stay by her side forever. On one knee, he earnestly asked her to marry him. With tears in her eyes, Song Mingmei slipped the ring onto her finger and loudly said yes.

She also blamed Qin Chang for making her wait six years. The two kissed passionately. After learning the identity of the buyer for the materials, Ding Zhitong rushed to tell Gan Yang. Gan Yang hugged her in excitement and kissed her passionately. But in the midst of passion, Ding Zhitong suddenly seemed to think of something. She immediately pushed Gan Yang away and hurried home. Sitting in the dark room, she repeatedly told herself she must not.

The next day, Gan Yang prepared breakfast and brought it to Ding Zhitong, but she had already left by car. He called her, and Ding Zhitong’s tears fell as she said they should never meet again. When Gan Yang pressed for a reason, she claimed she had already left and planned to be away from Shanghai for a few days. She had said all she needed to say. Gan Yang couldn’t understand what had happened—what that kiss meant.

He clearly felt that she had him in her heart, yet she kept pushing him away. Ding Zhitong cruelly hung up, but tears flowed uncontrollably. At work, Gan Yang felt heartache seeing Wang Yi and Xu Chenxi being sweet, thinking of Ding Zhitong. Xu Chenxi guessed that perhaps something happened to Ding Zhitong that Gan Yang didn’t know about. That’s when Gan Yang suddenly realized and ran to find Song Mingmei, hoping to learn what was going on.

Back then, when Ding Zhitong heard that Gan Yang wanted to break up, she rushed to find him at night. But she misunderstood him to be with Xu Chenxi and left heartbroken. Upon returning home, her mother suddenly passed away. Ding Zhitong didn’t even get to see her one last time. Afterward, she fainted several times and was taken to the hospital by Feng Sheng, who cared for her.

Out of gratitude, she agreed to marry Feng Sheng, but she was never able to love him and decisively called off the engagement. Gan Yang came to Ding Zhitong’s mother’s grave to pay his respects. Ding Zhitong revealed that on the day she went to find Gan Yang, she had planned to return that night. But there were no buses, so she stayed at a hotel in Putian. That night she developed a high fever.

Her mother called, concerned why she wasn’t back at the agreed time. Ding Zhitong explained she had a fever, but just then her phone died. She got up to find a charger. Her mother, thinking something had happened, panicked and stood up—only to accidentally fall and never wake up again. When Ding Zhitong woke up again, it was already the next afternoon. The hotel staff came to check on her and found she had been unconscious for a long time.

They tried to contact her family but found her phone was dead, so they charged it for her. When she turned it on, she immediately got a call from Feng Sheng—her mother had passed away. Ding Zhitong rushed to the hospital and knelt in front of her mother’s bed, crying. Gan Yang was also full of guilt. If not for the breakup, none of this would have happened. Ding Zhitong said it wasn’t his fault.

At first, she blamed and hated him, rejected him, and was afraid to recall the past. She tried to forget him but couldn’t. Gan Yang asked whether there was truly no way back for the two of them.

Episode 27 Recap

Gan Yang packed his things and returned to Putian with Wang Yi, Xu Chenxi, and the others. Watching them leave, Yuan Chao believed that Gan Yang would definitely come back because he had never been someone easily defeated. However, Wang Sen disagreed, convinced that Gan Yang wouldn’t be able to return, and vowed to stop him. Gan Yang and Wang Yi’s group arrived at the station but didn’t see Ding Zhitong off.

In his heart, Gan Yang quietly said goodbye to her. At the same time, Ding Zhitong looked up at the airplane in the sky from her room and silently said goodbye to Gan Yang as well. Song Mingmei went to the hospital for chemotherapy accompanied by Qin Chang. Qin Chang held her hand the entire time, easing her anxiety. When she woke up, the procedure was already over.

Song Mingmei wanted to look at herself in the mirror, just hoping she still looked beautiful to Qin Chang. Even though the effects of chemotherapy were harsh, she forced herself to endure them and didn’t want Qin Chang to see. But Qin Chang saw anyway, and held her gently to comfort her. After Ding Zhitong was promoted, she received a bottle full of paper cranes, which reminded her that Gan Yang had once given her the same thing.

Getting promoted had always been her dream, but now that it came true, she didn’t feel happy. That day, she took a bus to clear her mind and thought she saw Gan Yang beside her. She couldn’t help wondering what he was doing. She then went to the place where they once watched a concert together, missing him even more. Wang Sen came to see Ding Zhitong, and she noticed his feelings for her.

She spoke openly and clearly with him, expressing that no one could ever replace Gan Yang in her heart. Even when she first taught Wang Sen how to breathe while running, it was Gan Yang who had taught her. She drank coffee because of Gan Yang. He made her feel more human. So not just in the past, but now and in the future, she would only love Gan Yang.

That night, Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong went running in different cities, both missing each other. On the same night, driven by jealousy, Wang Sen approached Shu Chi to collaborate in an attempt to suppress Langteng. When Ding Zhitong found out about Gan Yang’s situation, she called Song Mingmei, hoping she could use their tacit connection to promote Gan Yang. But Song Mingmei told her that if she truly cared about Gan Yang, she should care personally.

Song Mingmei revealed she had cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. Even if she didn’t do anything, she believed Ding Zhitong wouldn’t blame her. Right now, she just wanted to enjoy life and live well with Qin Chang. Ding Zhitong immediately booked a flight to see Song Mingmei, not believing she was truly ill. Song Mingmei had no choice but to show her the medical report. Ding Zhitong then promised she would stay by her side no matter what.

Ding Zhitong accompanied Song Mingmei to the hospital for chemotherapy. Song Mingmei deliberately left her name off the records and sent a photo of the medical case to Gan Yang, making him think it was Ding Zhitong who had cancer. Gan Yang immediately dropped everything and rushed to the hospital, only to find out it was Song Mingmei who was sick. He was genuinely shocked.

Ding Zhitong told Gan Yang she had also done a checkup and all her health indicators were normal. Gan Yang let out a relieved smile. They both showed concern for each other’s lives, reminding each other to eat and run properly. As Gan Yang left, he told Ding Zhitong that he would always be waiting. Song Mingmei urged Ding Zhitong to let go of the past.

She believed that if her mother were still alive, she wouldn’t want to see her daughter like this either. Ding Zhitong understood but admitted she still felt conflicted inside and just needed more time. Song Mingmei didn’t push her further. As Ding Zhitong and Qin Chang waited anxiously outside the operating room, they were overjoyed to learn that the surgery had been successful.

Half an hour later, as the anesthesia wore off, Song Mingmei woke up and the first thing she said to Qin Chang was that she had fallen for him all over again. Seeing her like this, Ding Zhitong couldn’t hold back her tears. Lying in her hospital bed, Song Mingmei called Ding Zhitong and asked her to log back into Moqi and help review it and provide some suggestions.

When Ding Zhitong logged in, she found countless messages from Gan Yang. No matter what he was going through—his illnesses, his progress—he had sent her videos every time. As she watched them, tears streamed down her face. Ding Zhitong remembered what Song Mingmei had said—life only happens once. She didn’t want Ding Zhitong to live with regrets. Ding Zhitong realized it was time to run for Gan Yang once more.

Episode 28 Recap

Ding Zhitong went to see Director Zhang to resign. Director Zhang was angry that Ding Zhitong would so easily give up the MD opportunity she had worked so hard for. But Ding Zhitong explained that she had thought it through. She thanked the company for its trust, but this time, she wanted to help the person she loved.

Ding Zhitong left the office with a smile, put on the shoes Gan Yang had given her, and boarded the plane with a beaming face. Due to traffic on the way, Ding Zhitong couldn’t wait any longer and was eager to see Gan Yang. So, she asked the driver to deliver her luggage while she ran off to find Gan Yang on foot. Gan Yang and Wang Yi were carrying barrels of water.

Wang Yi was worried about Gan Yang’s insomnia, but the moment he saw Ding Zhitong, he knew Gan Yang’s “medicine” had arrived. Gan Yang turned to look at Ding Zhitong with a bright smile. The shoes on her feet said it all. They looked at each other with tearful smiles. Ding Zhitong had already changed the answer in her heart to the tacit understanding they once shared—no matter how things changed, she would always love only him.

Langteng had lost many clients to Shuchi. Ding Zhitong believed that without production, relying on a single pair of new shoes wouldn’t be enough to turn the tide. Gan Yang proposed they either produce old shoes or develop new ones and gave everyone three days to decide together. While Gan Yang was out for a run, Ding Zhitong joined him. They ran at night, watching the stars together. Ding Zhitong asked if Gan Yang had made his decision.

He stayed silent, but she could tell he already had an answer. Gan Yang admitted he wanted to take a gamble, but Langteng didn’t belong to him alone—he hoped everyone would decide together. The road they ran together was the same one he had run after breaking up with Ding Zhitong. He now regretted not telling her the truth back then and feared this decision might be wrong.

Ding Zhitong encouraged him to shout his true feelings out loud just like before. Gan Yang did just that—he shouted that he would take everyone back to Shanghai. Ding Zhitong said she would be by his side no matter the outcome and asked if he would run with her again. Gan Yang pretended to decline, and Ding Zhitong feigned anger and walked away. But Gan Yang held her hand tightly and couldn’t help kissing her. The two embraced tightly.

Ding Zhitong video-called Song Mingmei and learned that she was now very happy. Qin Chang cooked for her every day and dragged her out running. Song Mingmei complained bitterly, blaming Gan Yang for her daily exhaustion from running. Just then, the doorbell rang. Ding Zhitong thought it was Gan Yang, but when she opened the door, it was Liu Yongjuan. At the same time, Xu Chenxi’s parents asked to see Wang Yi.

Liu Yongjuan brought out photos of Gan Yang growing up and his childhood toys. Ding Zhitong told her she had the exact same toy. Liu Yongjuan felt it was fate between the two and shared that Gan Yang had always refused blind dates until he met Ding Zhitong. Only then did she understand why he kept refusing. Gan Yang overheard their conversation and stood quietly to the side, feeling deeply moved.

Liu Yongjuan joined their hands together and told them to stay together forever, reminding Gan Yang not to bully Ding Zhitong. Knowing Ding Zhitong liked night market fried rice, Gan Yang learned how to make it from a vendor. They enjoyed the meal happily. Ding Zhitong tried making soup for Gan Yang, though it didn’t taste great. The two returned to Shanghai together and sold their house, choosing to go all in.

Gan Yang said he remembered Ding Zhitong once said if they had money, they must buy this place. So the first thing he did after earning money was buy it, hoping to eat and run together with his beloved. Ding Zhitong noticed his reluctance to part with the place. Gan Yang said if this gamble failed and he had no home, she must take him in.

But Ding Zhitong had already sold her house and transferred the money to Xu Chenxi, afraid Gan Yang wouldn’t agree. She too wanted to gamble with him. When Gan Yang returned to the company, everyone expressed their desire to take the gamble with him. Gan Yang held out his hand, and everyone joined hands together, shouting with encouragement. After Langteng’s new shoes went on sale, the sales figures kept climbing. The first day alone set a new record.

Ding Zhitong hugged Gan Yang to congratulate him. Wang Yi prepared flowers and a ring to propose to Xu Chenxi. Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong clapped and cheered for the couple. The room erupted in applause and chants for a kiss. Gan Yang also held tightly to Ding Zhitong’s hand. A year later, Gan Yang’s Langteng had become a leading company in the industry. He even bought an entire building, stunning Wang Sen.

Meanwhile, the training box project was completely messed up by Yuan Chao’s reckless management, a result he had to face himself. Ding Zhitong and Gan Yang stood in front of the new company building. Ding Zhitong praised Gan Yang for fulfilling his promise—he really brought everyone back in just a year. Gan Yang held her hand tightly, saying he couldn’t have done it without her. Hand in hand, they walked boldly toward the company’s entrance.

At that moment, Wang Sen kicked Yuan Chao out due to the failure of the training box. Yuan Chao came to see Gan Yang, claiming he was only following Wang Sen’s instructions and hoping Gan Yang could save the training box. But Gan Yang said it was beyond saving. He told Yuan Chao he had to take legal responsibility for his own mistakes and advised him to turn himself in.

A week later, the training box project went into liquidation, and Yuan Chao turned himself in. He was sentenced to five years in prison for infringing trade secrets. On the opening day of Ding & Qin Investment Company, Wang Sen came to offer his congratulations and hoped to collaborate with Ding Zhitong. But when he reached out his hand, Gan Yang quickly shook it before Ding Zhitong could, also expressing willingness to work together.

Ding Zhitong couldn’t help but laugh at his jealous reaction. Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong went for a run together. Gan Yang regretted suggesting the breakup—maybe things would’ve ended differently. But Ding Zhitong felt things were perfect now. She now had the ability to stand by Gan Yang’s side as his equal. Everyone joined them for a group run. But Gan Yang ran ahead first, preparing a romantic proposal.

He got down on one knee and held up a ring, asking if Ding Zhitong would marry him. With tears in her eyes and a smile on her face, she said yes. Song Mingmei placed a veil on her head. Gan Yang hugged Ding Zhitong tightly. Wang Yi and Xu Chenxi smiled at each other. Qin Chang held Song Mingmei in his arms. Everyone’s faces were lit with joy.

Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong held their wedding, and everyone came to offer blessings. Gan Yang made a heartfelt confession: back then, he didn’t know how to confess love—he just kept asking if she’d run with him. Later, they separated and went through so much, almost losing each other. But luckily, they ended up together. Being with Ding Zhitong was the happiest thing in his life. Ding Zhitong was in tears.

Before meeting Gan Yang, she didn’t know how to live well. It was Gan Yang who taught her how to live, how to love others, and how to love herself. Gan Yang wished to be with her for a lifetime and asked if she was willing to eat well and run together for the rest of their lives. Ding Zhitong said, “I do,” and the place burst into applause. Everyone gave their blessings. After six years, Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong finally came back together, holding and kissing each other with deep affection.
