During dinner, Ai Qing and Ai Jing were surprised when their father told them their grandmother planned to arrange blind dates for them. Both sisters quickly dismissed the idea, asserting they did not need blind dates. Meanwhile, Wang Hao visited Slide’s store to invite him back into the robot combat scene, offering him the captain and mechanic positions for SP’s first team, which had been reserved for him.
Slide, having waited a long time for this opportunity, eagerly asked when he should report for duty. Wu Bai sent a message to Ai Qing, apologizing for not revealing earlier that Han Shangyan was his cousin, but Ai Qing did not reply. Shen Zhe suggested Wu Bai maintain distance to give her space, but Wu Bai insisted Ai Qing was not the type to read messages and not respond, concluding something must have happened.
He decided to find her to understand the situation. When he arrived at Ai Qing’s company building, she was just leaving after resigning, carrying her belongings. Wu Bai learned from her former manager that Ai Qing had resigned to join the SP team, which surprised him. After resigning, Ai Qing’s first act was to get a short haircut at a salon.
The hairstylist assumed she was heartbroken and wanted to shed her past, but Ai Qing clarified she wanted to return to it. Soon after, a refreshed Ai Qing with short hair reported to SP. Wang Hao finalized her contract and began introducing her to the team members. Lin Yin greeted her cheerfully, playfully suggesting she was Wu Bai’s girlfriend, which Ai Qing denied with a smile.
Lin Yin expressed regret, commenting that Wu Bai seemed to like her a great deal. Ai Qing then met Ou Qiang, Mi, and Slide. Seeing her former comrades-in-arms reunited, Ai Qing was deeply moved, tearfully bowing to thank them for coming back. Her teammates were equally emotional, shouting encouragement, making her feel as though she had returned to the Solo team.
Wu Liao, the robot, detected that Wu Bai’s happiness index was critically low and prompted him to share his feelings. Wu Bai initially dismissed it as "boring" but soon confessed his true thoughts. He was happy Ai Qing had returned to the robot combat world, but this also meant she would spend more time with Wang Hao.
When Wu Liao offered to play a playlist of sad love songs, Wu Bai declined, claiming he had calmed down, though he eventually admitted he wanted to see her. Wu Bai drove to the SP office building. Upon seeing Ai Qing’s new short hair, he complimented her, saying it suited her well. He then directly asked if her return to the robot combat world was because of Wang Hao, which she denied.
He invited her into his car to take her somewhere. Inside the car, neither spoke, but as Ai Qing observed Wu Bai driving intently, she realized she had unknowingly fallen for him. However, she was also acutely aware that he was Han Shangyan’s cousin and the captain of the K&K team. For her, returning to SP while being involved with K&K’s captain felt like reliving old mistakes. As night fell, Wu Bai led Ai Qing to a quiet swing set.
Just as he was about to express his feelings, Ai Qing asked him to listen first. She revealed the true reason behind the Solo team's disbandment: her own impulsive decision, which not only caused the team’s breakup but also left Han Shangyan, Ou Qiang, and Mi with eternal regret. Her biggest wish was to gather everyone and rebuild the team, helping them fulfill their dreams.
She then explained that with Wu Bai as K&K’s captain and her as SP’s leader, they would be significant rivals. Therefore, she believed some things were more important than love. Wu Bai was deeply saddened and asked Ai Qing if she liked him. Ai Qing, visibly pained, could only apologize. She turned and walked away, tears streaming down her face. Wu Bai wandered aimlessly through the streets.
Passing by a small shop he had visited with Ai Qing, he noticed a jar on a table containing wish notes. As rain began to fall, he sat on the wet street and opened a note that read, "The Chosen Bachelor." He opened another, which stated, "Dare not love too deeply, for fear it's only a grand dream," his mood sinking to rock bottom.
Ai Qing, meanwhile, remembered a competition three years prior, also on a rainy day, when her remote control fell into a sewer just before the match, and Wu Bai had arrived with an umbrella to help her. Remembering Wu Bai asking if she liked him, her heart ached. She tilted her head back, closing her eyes, letting the cold rain fall on her face.
At the K&K base, Han Shangyan noticed a photo on Wu Bai’s desk showing Wu Bai and Ai Qing standing side by side, smiling brightly. He frowned thoughtfully. Shen Zhe returned from a date, placing Ai Jing’s pink scarf, which she had left with him, around Wu Liao’s neck. When Ai Jing saw the photo he sent, she playfully commented that it looked as "cheesy" as him.
Shen Zhe retorted, telling her not to talk nonsense, as that was Wu Bai’s son. A dejected Wu Bai returned to the base, seemingly oblivious to 97’s greeting. He walked straight into his room, finding Han Shangyan there. Noticing his brother’s gaze on the photo on his desk, Wu Bai quickly picked it up and put it in a cabinet.
Han Shangyan stated that Ai Qing was Wang Hao’s girlfriend and that no matter their past grievances, Wang Hao would always be his brother. Wu Bai angrily retorted, asking if he was not his brother as well. He mused internally that the choices in life can be absurdly real.
He had thought the only thing that could outweigh love was a lack of it, but now realized that on the other side of the scale were his responsibilities, his mission, and his dreams, forcing him to choose between them and love.
