Lu Xingcheng stirred from unconsciousness to hear Tong Xiaoyou's frantic calls. Guilt-ridden, Tong Xiaoyou was anxious upon learning of his necessary hospitalization. As she followed a nurse to the outpatient hall for the admission procedures, she saw Wen Xi orchestrating a media frenzy, using Lu Xingcheng's accident to create scandalous news. To protect Lu Xingcheng, who was still in the emergency room, Tong Xiaoyou firmly told the reporters to leave the hospital, even threatening to call the police.

Later, the doctor informed Tong Xiaoyou that Lu Xingcheng had a mild brain concussion and a sprained foot, requiring a period of rest. When Lu Xingcheng eventually awoke, Tong Xiaoyou entered his room laden with various items, including a bouquet of flowers she'd bought to cheer him up and an assortment of food. However, Lu Xingcheng found her incessant talking bothersome and harshly told her to leave.

After she left, he found himself unable to reach for water due to his injured foot and silently regretted sending her away. Meanwhile, at the magazine, the acting editor, Sarah Lin, complained to the President that Lu Xingcheng's recent "bad news" was negatively impacting magazine sales. The President, however, dismissed her concerns, stating that fluctuations in sales were normal and continued to defend Lu Xingcheng.

He then challenged Sarah Lin to improve sales this month, promising her a big bonus if she succeeded. At Brother Bao's noodle house, Tong Xiaoyou reflected on the magnitude of the trouble she had caused. Concerned about Lu Xingcheng's well-being in the hospital, she felt responsible for his predicament and vowed to cook him delicious meals when she had the chance. Lu Xingcheng, now confined to his hospital bed, began to feel a sense of loneliness.

His assistant, Da Li, visited with news that the reporter who leaked information about him had been dealt with by the public security department, and Sarah Lin was temporarily filling his position. Unfortunately, Da Li also reported that Lu Xingcheng's stock funds were in crisis, having plummeted. A nurse then informed Lu Xingcheng that his hospital fees were due for renewal in two days.

Feeling a pang of sadness, Lu Xingcheng called Da Li and instructed him to arrange a transfer to a more standard hospital as soon as possible. Da Li relayed this information to Tong Xiaoyou, acknowledging Lu Xingcheng's recent string of bad luck. The conversation was interrupted by Sarah Lin, who demanded to know when Tong Xiaoyou would provide the interview draft for Lu Ren, a request that left Tong Xiaoyou overwhelmed.

Sarah Lin then lectured Tong Xiaoyou on the fast-paced nature of fashion journalism, emphasizing the importance of staying current with hot topics and high-profile individuals. Lu Yanzhi found Tong Xiaoyou to go to the hospital together. He offered a bank card for compensation for the car accident, but Lu Xingcheng reacted with fury, sweeping everything Lu Yanzhi had brought onto the floor. Fearing a confrontation, Tong Xiaoyou quickly ushered Lu Yanzhi out of the room.

Lu Yanzhi found Lu Xingcheng's temper peculiar and advised Tong Xiaoyou to keep her distance from him, offering his assistance with any work-related issues she might encounter. Tong Xiaoyou confided in Lu Yanzhi about the difficulties she faced in interviewing Lu Ren, particularly with his wife answering the phone and berating her. Realizing she was talking about a university professor, Lu Yanzhi immediately offered to accompany Tong Xiaoyou to Lu Ren's school the following day.

Tong Xiaoyou diligently organized Lu Xingcheng's ward. She then asked him what it would take for him to agree to a private settlement for the accident. After a moment's thought, Lu Xingcheng told her it depended on her performance, to which Tong Xiaoyou earnestly promised to do her best. She then personally cooked for Lu Xingcheng, later complaining to Song Ruru that Lu Xingcheng's recent run of bad luck was eerily similar to her own past.

Song Ruru mused that it seemed as though their luck had somehow swapped. Lu Xingcheng criticized Tong Xiaoyou's cooking, specifically the pan-fried chicken breast, calling both her work and culinary skills "bad," but he still ate a few bites. As he watched her bustling around the ward, a flicker of warmth sparked within him.

The next day, on the way to transfer hospitals, Tong Xiaoyou suggested they visit the place where she had once fainted from low blood sugar, noting the pleasant scenery. There, they once again drew fortune sticks. To Lu Xingcheng's dismay, he consistently drew the worst fortunes, while Tong Xiaoyou repeatedly drew the best. He accused her of secretly cursing him, a claim she vehemently denied, emphasizing her identity as a "good young socialist" who didn't believe in curses.

During a playful push, Lu Xingcheng lost his balance and fell into the pool, re-injuring his foot. Upon waking in the hospital, Lu Xingcheng pondered how incredibly unlucky he had become since meeting Tong Xiaoyou. Tong Xiaoyou, feeling responsible for his string of misfortunes, reiterated her promise to take care of him until he was discharged, though he simply told her to stay away. Around the same time, Lu Yanzhi arrived at the company looking for Tong Xiaoyou.

Upon learning that she was hospitalized due to her injured ankle, he immediately set off to visit her. To prevent Lu Yanzhi from discovering Lu Xingcheng in the hospital room, Tong Xiaoyou employed various peculiar tactics, first offering to meet him downstairs, then pretending to have a stomachache.

Lu Yanzhi, worried, offered to call a doctor, but Tong Xiaoyou insisted it was just a temporary ache and suggested they go to a cafe instead, citing the patient inside as having a terrible temper. Back at her apartment, Song Ruru shared her research with Tong Xiaoyou, suggesting that their intertwined fortunes were due to some form of intimate contact. Tong Xiaoyou recalled their first kiss, which seemed to coincide with the shift in their luck.

Not wanting Lu Xingcheng to remain unlucky, she resolved to help him. Song Ruru then suggested that another kiss could reverse their luck. Tong Xiaoyou spent the afternoon trying to convince Lu Xingcheng that a kiss could restore his good fortune. She pointed out the consistent bad luck he'd experienced since their first kiss, contrasting his plummeting magazine sales and severe injuries with her own designs going viral and her miraculously unharmed leg after their fall.

Lu Xingcheng, however, dismissed her theories as nonsense and ordered her out of the room. Undeterred, Tong Xiaoyou pressed her case through the glass door, pleading to return his luck. Suddenly, her low blood sugar acted up again, and she fainted at the ward door.

When she regained consciousness, Lu Xingcheng tossed her a box of candy, a gesture that made her realize he was the one who had saved her during her previous low blood sugar incident at the design exhibition. She attempted to kiss him again to complete the "luck swap," but Lu Xingcheng rebuffed her, calling her "crazy" and reminding her that he was the one who initiated their first kiss. He again dismissed her theories and told her to return to work, telling her to eat a piece of candy first.
