At the workshop, Gu Haitang noticed the unusual color of the grease, but before she could inspect it further or start making lipstick with the female workers, her brother Gu Xiahe rushed in to report that their mother was terrified and besieged by reporters at home. Lang Yuexuan immediately took Gu Haitang home. While Lang Yuexuan drove the reporters away, they recognized him and threatened to "make him pay."
Gu Haitang quickly comforted her mother, who was so traumatized and disoriented that she mistook Lang Yuexuan for her husband, Gu Shunqi, but eventually stabilized. Lang Yuexuan played along, and Gu Haitang and Gu Xiahe also comforted their mother to avoid further distress. Meanwhile, reporters also surrounded the Lang family home, questioning Lang Yueming about Gu Haitang's involvement in "Lang Li Chun" lipstick production.
They claimed Gu Haitang's family made makeup for the dead, casting doubt on "Lang Li Chun"'s use of her, but Lang Yueming assured them of the products' genuine quality and vowed no tolerance for defamation. Inside, Feng Chunyan, hearing the commotion, badmouthed Gu Haitang again to Lang Sinian. At that moment, Long Mohua rushed in, announcing she had heard about the situation and asked the Marshal to disperse the reporters. Lang Yueming told her not to interfere, but Feng Chunyan thanked Long Mohua profusely for her help and invited her to dinner. Lang Sinian realized someone was maliciously causing trouble.
Lang Yuexuan took Gu Haitang to the Lang family home to clarify the situation. Gu Haitang, suspecting foul play and not wanting to cause trouble for "Lang Li Chun," publicly announced her departure from the company, stating that any products she was involved with would no longer be related to her.
Feng Chunyan persisted, scoffing at Gu Haitang's mother for allegedly being "out and about" and causing trouble, accusing her of disgrace for making makeup for the dead, and forbidding Gu Haitang from "seducing" Lang Yuexuan. Miao Lan and Long Mohua supported Feng Chunyan in jointly harassing Gu Haitang. After leaving, Gu Haitang told Lang Yuexuan she wanted to research the "Furong Paste" formula that her parents/the couple had left behind. Lang Yuexuan pledged his full support for her to research it in "Haitang Garden." Later, Feng Chunyan, who had been unable to sleep, visited Miao Lan's room to offer incense to Lang Yueyuan. There, she discovered a paper figurine with her birth date written on it, realizing Miao Lan's curses against her. Enraged, she called Lang Yueming.

Chu Chu, following Lang Yueming's instructions, discarded the barrels of doctored synthetic grease. After completing her task, Lang Yueming paid her for her services and warned her to keep it a secret before she left the workshop.
Fan Zhen, having finished the batch of goods, distributed red envelopes to the hardworking female employees but could not find Chu Chu, and no one knew her residence. Back at home, Gu Xiahe found their mother unconscious and quickly called Gu Haitang. The siblings rushed her to the hospital, where doctors managed to revive her. Gu Haitang needed to pay the hospital fees but had no money.
Unexpectedly, someone sent by Shi Jizhou paid the fees and then took Gu Haitang to meet him. Lang Yuexuan, meanwhile, was searching for Gu Haitang but found her home locked and grew very anxious. Gu Haitang met Shi Jizhou, who introduced himself as an "eight sworn brother" of her father, Gu Shunqi. Shi Jizhou claimed to have helped Gu Shunqi, who in turn gratefully collaborated with him on researching the "Furong Paste" secret formula.
He falsely asserted that Lang Sinian discovered this collaboration and murdered Gu Shunqi. Shi Jizhou further fabricated that he found Gu Shunqi still alive, who entrusted his family to him and revealed the location of the "Furong Paste" manual. Shi Jizhou presented Gu Shunqi's manual as proof of their close relationship, claiming he had been searching for Gu Haitang and her family for a long time.
He returned the manual to Gu Haitang, falsely alleging that its last page was torn during Gu Shunqi's fight with Lang Sinian. Gu Haitang believed his fabricated story. Lang Yuexuan continued to wait outside Gu Haitang's locked home until dark, but she did not return. Feng Chunyan, reflecting on her earlier harshness, sent Lang Yueming to find Lang Yuexuan and bring him home.
