Blossom in Heart Episode 8 Recap
> Blossom in Heart Recaps
Gu Haitang inquired of Lang Yuexuan about the betrothal gifts, learning they were sent by the Lang family. Lang Yuexuan, aware the gifts were intended for his elder brother Lang Yueming, found himself unable to reveal the truth. That night, Long Mohua sought out Gu Haitang to apologize for having struck her without reason.
She confessed her inability to sever her feelings for Lang Yuexuan, claiming she could not live without him, and desperately pleaded with Gu Haitang to relinquish Lang Yuexuan and allow her to marry in her stead. Gu Haitang, caught in the dilemma, did not immediately respond, but Long Mohua assumed her agreement.
Gu Haitang internally convinced herself that Lang Yuexuan did not truly love her, and her purpose in Kunyang was to find her missing father, not to become a resentful woman like Miaolan; thus, not wanting to hurt Long Mohua, she reluctantly decided to proceed with Long Mohua's plan. Gu Haitang then proactively arranged a meeting with Lang Yuexuan.
During their meeting, she ordered red wine, believing it would help her speak her mind, and bravely declared her agreement to marry him. Lang Yuexuan was astonished and saddened, knowing full well that the Lang family's betrothal was meant to unite Gu Haitang with his brother, Lang Yueming. He attempted to speak, but Gu Haitang interrupted, emphasizing that should she ever cause him pain, it would not be her true intention but rather due to unavoidable circumstances.
Lang Yuexuan, in turn, admitted his lack of confidence when facing Gu Haitang, which led to his past frivolous behaviors that were not representative of his true self. Though they drank together, both harbored unspoken thoughts and sorrows. Later, Gu Haitang visited the Lang family's west attic, hoping to question its mysterious occupant. She called out several times but received no answer. Unintentionally, she discovered several portraits of herself on a table.
Remembering Lang Yuexuan's words that the west attic was akin to his study and he often went there, she presumed he had painted them. Lang Yueming, meanwhile, watched her from a corner of the garden. Soon after, Lang Yuexuan arrived at the attic, and an awkward silence fell between them. Lang Yuexuan then led her to a secluded corner of the garden where a vibrant patch of red begonia flowers bloomed—a special welcoming gift he had prepared for her.
Gu Haitang felt an inexpressible mix of sadness and gratitude for his efforts. As the wedding day for the Lang family's young master and Gu Haitang drew near, the Lang residence was adorned with lanterns and festive decorations. Miaolan, busy directing servants and workers in arranging the bridal chamber, caught sight of the crimson bedding and pillows.
This sight triggered painful memories of her own wedding night fifteen years ago, when she had been presented with a rooster adorned with a red ribbon instead of a groom, condemning her to fifteen years of loneliness in an empty room. Miaolan was overwhelmed with sadness. Long Mohua had previously delivered her own wedding dress to Gu Haitang's home, anticipating it might be needed on the wedding day.
Upon returning home with Long Mohua's dress, Gu Haitang found her mother meticulously sewing a new red wedding dress for her. Overcome with sadness and unable to disclose the truth, Gu Haitang and her mother, who was also tearfully reluctant for her daughter to marry, embraced and wept together. Meanwhile, Lang Yuexuan sat in his room, sadly drinking alone. On the wedding day, the Lang residence buzzed with excitement as relatives and friends arrived for the celebration.
However, Lang Yuexuan was nowhere to be found. Feng Chunyan quickly dispatched Quan Shu to locate him and bring him to fetch the bride. Quan Shu discovered Lang Yuexuan utterly drunk and unconscious in his room. Feng Chunyan then instructed Quan Shu to proceed with the wedding procession to the bride's home. Gu Haitang's mother began her busy preparations early. Long Mohua arrived at Gu Haitang's house, secretly entering through a window.
Gu Haitang, despite her inner turmoil, helped Long Mohua with her makeup. Suddenly, Commander Long Deshui, accompanied by his men, burst into Gu Haitang's home. Believing Long Mohua was the one marrying the Lang family's young master, he forcibly took her away without any explanation. Before Gu Haitang's mother and the neighbors could fully grasp what had happened, the Lang family's grand wedding procession arrived.
Gu Haitang's mother quickly helped her don the wedding gown, covered her with the red veil, and personally escorted her into the sedan chair. Gu Haitang, with tears in her eyes, bade farewell to her family. Meanwhile, Feng Chunyan sent word to Miaolan, forbidding her from attending the wedding, considering her "incomplete," which left Miaolan utterly disheartened. The wedding procession brought Gu Haitang to the Lang residence.
Lang Sinian and Feng Chunyan sat formally as Gu Haitang and the groom performed the traditional bowing ceremony. Curiously, the groom also wore a red veil, a detail Gu Haitang could not discern. The wedding ceremony was successfully completed amidst the blessings of their family and friends. Gu Haitang was then escorted to the bridal chamber, which she discovered to be the west attic.
She secretly lifted her veil, feeling a surge of happiness, believing the groom to be Lang Yuexuan. Shortly thereafter, the groom entered the room. Gu Haitang swiftly replaced her red veil, eagerly anticipating Lang Yuexuan's arrival. The groom then lifted her veil, revealing not Lang Yuexuan, but a masked man in wedding attire. Gu Haitang screamed in terror.
The startled groom stumbled backward, then quickly retreated to a corner, introducing himself as Lang Yueming, the eldest young master of the Lang family and the owner of the attic. Gu Haitang suddenly recalled Lang Yuexuan's past hesitant words, his veiled attempts, and the Jiu Lan flowers he had sent, finally understanding that she had been intended to marry Lang Yueming all along. Overwhelmed and heartbroken, she turned to leave, demanding an explanation. Lang Yueming anxiously stepped forward to block her path, accidentally knocking off his mask. Gu Haitang turned back, seeing his scarred, terrified face, and fainted from shock.
