Age of Legends Episode 7 Recap
> Age of Legends Recap
Hu Rong visited Grandpa Guo at the hospital, bringing him fruit and introducing herself as a police officer from the Jiangbei Public Security Bureau. She asked about Liu Ziguang’s past. Grandpa Guo spoke fondly of Liu Ziguang as a kind, upright, intelligent child who excelled in school. He recounted the tragedy of Liu Ziguang’s father, a righteous man who ran a barbecue stall.
One day, Liu Ziguang’s father intervened when a drug addict was bullying Old Li, who sold hot spicy soup. The addict, unexpectedly ruthless, fatally stabbed Liu Ziguang’s father. This trauma, combined with the school ordering him to stop his studies without fully understanding the situation, led to Liu Ziguang’s disappearance for eight years. Grandpa Guo confirmed that Liu Ziguang claimed to have lost his memories of that period.
At the police station, Commissioner Hu Yuejin was informed by Captain Han that Officer Huang, Hu Rong's father, had gone missing and province-level authorities had lost all contact. Hu Yuejin sternly instructed Captain Han to keep this information from Hu Rong. When Hu Rong returned to the station, her colleagues noted Captain Han's unusual behavior of secluding himself in his office and constantly making calls, a sign that he was handling a significant case.
Hou Sihai arrived at Nie Wanfeng’s villa for Chengcheng’s birthday banquet, observing Nie Wanfeng’s collection of treasures, including an antique calligraphy scroll and an old gun. Nie Wanfeng picked up the gun and pointed it at Hou Sihai, accusing him of orchestrating his son’s kidnapping. A terrified Hou Sihai vehemently denied it. Nie Wanfeng then fired a shot, shattering an antique vase, and chillingly declared that he hated anyone who touched his family.
After leaving, Hou Sihai reflected on the incident, realizing his plan to detain Chengcheng had backfired, and Nie Wanfeng now knew the truth. He wondered if Liu Ziguang, who had disrupted his plans, was an operative sent by Nie Wanfeng, concluding that Liu Ziguang was someone they needed to carefully consider. At home, Nie Wanfeng trained Chengcheng, encouraging him to grow strong so no one could hurt him.
Chengcheng, still shaken, asked about the frightening guests from his birthday dinner, but Nie Wanfeng dismissed them as insignificant. Liu Ziguang, accompanied by Bei Xiaoshuai and Zhuo Li, also visited Grandpa Guo. Bei Xiaoshuai noticed a fruit basket identical to theirs and learned that Hu Rong had visited the day before. Bei Xiaoshuai, having investigated Hu Rong, informed Liu Ziguang that she was the influential daughter of Jiangbei City’s Deputy Mayor and the Chief of the Public Security Bureau.
He teased Liu Ziguang, suggesting Hu Rong was interested in him and that pursuing her would guarantee a comfortable life. Liu Ziguang, however, insisted that Hu Rong was merely investigating him. Bei Xiaoshuai argued that Hu Rong’s visit, despite Liu Ziguang missing their prior appointment, showed her genuine interest, and that Liu Ziguang should reciprocate her kindness.
Acting on his own, Bei Xiaoshuai sent a bouquet of flowers to Hu Rong at the police station with a card signed "Liu Ziguang, who loves you," expressing his affection. This caused a commotion among Hu Rong’s colleagues, who eagerly read the card and teased her about her blossoming romance with Liu Ziguang. Enraged and embarrassed, Hu Rong called Liu Ziguang while he was training with Zhuo Li, angrily accusing him of sending meaningless flowers and embarrassing her.
Liu Ziguang was initially confused until Zhuo Li explained Bei Xiaoshuai’s "confession" attempt. Liu Ziguang apologized and arranged to meet Hu Rong at Truly Authentic in an hour to explain. Arriving early at Truly Authentic, Liu Ziguang found Qi and his men harassing Li Jianguo, demanding repayment of a debt and smashing items in the shop. Liu Ziguang intervened, smashing a table to halt their destruction.
Li Jianguo quickly stepped in, promising Qi that he would repay the money within three days. Qi agreed, warning of severe consequences if the debt was not settled. After Qi and his men left, Hu Rong arrived and questioned what had happened. Liu Ziguang downplayed the incident, saying the group was just drunk.
Li Jianguo then asked Hu Rong to help him find a buyer for the shop for seventy to eighty thousand yuan to cover a friend's medical expenses, which Hu Rong agreed to do. Outside the shop, Hu Rong thanked Liu Ziguang, clarifying that her help was for Li Jianguo, whom she knew to be a good person, not for him. She then brought up the flowers.
Liu Ziguang admitted that Bei Xiaoshuai had sent them on his own, even showing a screenshot of the order as proof, and apologized. Hu Rong, furious, threatened to bring Bei Xiaoshuai to the bureau for harassing a police officer. To protect Bei Xiaoshuai, Liu Ziguang again claimed responsibility for sending the flowers. Hu Rong, exasperated, called him "mentally ill" and accused him of disrespecting a lady before walking away, telling him not to repeat such actions.
Hu Rong later approached her father, Commissioner Hu Yuejin, asking for 20,000 yuan. When he questioned her spending habits, she explained that the money was for someone else and for a good, nameless cause. Recognizing his daughter's altruism, Hu Yuejin agreed to find the money from Hu Rong’s mother. After receiving a report confirming Liu Ziguang’s memory loss, Nie Wanfeng remained skeptical and decided to test Liu Ziguang himself.
He approached Liu Ziguang at the hospital, where Liu Ziguang asked who he was. Nie Wanfeng introduced himself as Chengcheng’s father, reminding Liu Ziguang that he had saved his son. As Nie Wanfeng spoke, a vivid flashback played in his mind: a young Liu Ziguang, distraught after his father’s death and with his home demolished, expressed having no family left in Jiangbei.
Nie Wanfeng, then known as Ye Wanglong, had proposed they go to M Country together and they became sworn brothers, swearing to share good and bad times. Back in the present, Nie Wanfeng probed Liu Ziguang about his eight missing years. Liu Ziguang reiterated his memory loss.
Nie Wanfeng then stated that Liu Ziguang strongly resembled an old buddy of his, even in character, but claimed his friend was shorter and denied knowing Liu Ziguang during his eight years of amnesia. Nie Wanfeng offered to act as a big brother to Liu Ziguang, encouraging him to seek help if he ever needed anything. Seizing the opportunity, Liu Ziguang immediately asked to borrow 100,000 yuan. Although momentarily surprised, Nie Wanfeng readily agreed.
Liu Ziguang insisted on writing a promissory note, which Nie Wanfeng initially declined, seeing the money as a reward for saving Chengcheng. However, Liu Ziguang steadfastly maintained that borrowed money must be repaid. Nie Wanfeng discussed his meeting with Liu Ziguang with his subordinate, confirming that Liu Ziguang truly had lost his memories, as his eyes could not deceive him. Nie Wanfeng expressed regret, not for the money, but for what had happened to his "brother."
His subordinate suggested that Liu Ziguang’s amnesia was beneficial, as it meant one less person knew Nie Wanfeng’s true background. Nie Wanfeng, however, sighed, lamenting that his subordinate couldn't understand the depth of their relationship. Liu Ziguang took the 100,000 yuan to Truly Authentic, where he coincidentally found Hu Rong giving Li Jianguo the 20,000 yuan she had received from her father. Li Jianguo politely refused Hu Rong's money, unwilling to owe her a favor.
Liu Ziguang then stepped forward, offering Li Jianguo the 100,000 yuan and proposing to take over the shop. He suggested his two friends, Bei Xiaoshuai and Zhuo Li, could help run it, giving them legitimate work. He also hoped Li Jianguo would stay and receive a share of the profits. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Li Jianguo accepted, shaking Liu Ziguang's hand and declaring that they were now brothers, and the four of them would collectively manage Truly Authentic.
Returning to Zhuo Li’s home, Liu Ziguang revealed his plan to use the money to help Li Jianguo overcome his difficulties and suggested that the three of them—Liu Ziguang, Bei Xiaoshuai, and Zhuo Li—jointly run Truly Authentic. Bei Xiaoshuai was initially furious, complaining that Liu Ziguang risked his life for a mere 100,000 yuan, only to give it all away.
Zhuo Li, however, defended Liu Ziguang, reminding Bei Xiaoshuai that Truly Authentic was Liu Ziguang’s father’s old shop and that helping Li Jianguo was the right thing to do. Convinced by Zhuo Li’s words and his sense of loyalty, Bei Xiaoshuai agreed to support Liu Ziguang. Truly Authentic reopened its doors, bustling with a constant stream of customers.
However, Hou Sihai and his subordinate Sun Wei, accompanied by a group of men, stormed into the shop, declaring they were reserving the entire place and attempting to drive out the patrons. Li Jianguo, who recognized Hou Sihai from a previous encounter, stepped forward to intervene, but Hou Sihai, with a smirk, refused to budge. Liu Ziguang calmly approached Hou Sihai, emphasizing the importance of integrity in business, and politely asked him to wait outside.
To everyone's surprise, the calculating Hou Sihai, choosing not to cause a public scene, agreed to Liu Ziguang's suggestion and led his men to wait outside the shop. A girl named Li Wan, distraught from a breakup, climbed to the top of a financial building to vent her emotions. She lost her footing and began to fall.
Hu Rong, who had rushed to the scene, managed to grab Li Wan, but couldn't hold on, and Li Wan continued her perilous descent, prompting gasps from the onlookers below. At that critical moment, Liu Ziguang, who was passing by on a delivery, heroically sprang into action, seemingly appearing from nowhere, and saved Li Wan. It was revealed that Li Wan was Hu Rong's high school junior.
Hu Rong took Li Wan to the police station for counseling, but Li Wan, now infatuated, eagerly questioned Hu Rong about Liu Ziguang. Hu Rong, however, deflected, claiming she knew nothing. After Li Wan departed, Hu Rong found herself reflecting on Liu Ziguang's various acts of bravery, growing increasingly curious about this enigmatic man.
Hu Rong sought out Liu Ziguang, explaining that his eight-year disappearance and newfound skills made him a person of suspicion, and she assured him she would not abandon her investigation. Liu Ziguang unexpectedly sat beside her and confessed that while he initially disliked her, witnessing her rescue attempt had lessened his animosity. They shook hands in an awkward gesture of reconciliation before Hu Rong left.
Meanwhile, Li Wan proudly recounted the story of Liu Ziguang saving her to her friends, who lauded him. Li Wan then publicly declared Liu Ziguang her savior and, from that moment on, her man. That night, Bei Xiaoshuai and Zhuo Li worried about Liu Ziguang’s persistent insomnia, caused by recurring nightmares. They realized he was tormented by fragmented memories, including Nie Wanfeng's words about resembling an "old buddy" and the flashback of them becoming sworn brothers. They debated how to help him, eventually deciding that he would eventually sleep when he was utterly exhausted.
