Age of Legends Episode 29 Recap
> Age of Legends Recap
Xiao Fei reported to Mei Jie about Chu Feifei, revealing that her family was very poor due to her father being a gambling addict who owed a significant amount of money. To evade creditors, Chu Feifei and her father had recently moved into a new estate. Xiao Fei had even encountered creditors seeking payment while following her, almost leading to a physical altercation. Mei Jie, noting Chu Feifei's desperation for money, inquired about other clues.
Xiao Fei further disclosed that Chu Feifei, while working previously as an attendant at a hotel, was known for frequently borrowing money and failing to repay it. Mei Jie concluded that Chu Feifei was indeed a "trashy thing" and decided to keep an eye on her. Later, Hu Rong received a call from her father, who informed her that Han Jin had identified the person following her as Xiao Fei, one of Mei Jie's subordinates.
He also relayed that Han Jin had dealt with the informant who had previously contacted Hu Rong at Golden Glory, assuring her not to worry. However, her father warned Hu Rong about Mei Jie's meticulous and suspicious nature, stressing that despite their successful "show" in front of Xiao Fei, she could not let her guard down. Hu Rong confirmed she understood and would remain vigilant.
At the police station, Han Jin urged Liu Ziguang to stop waiting, claiming that Hu Rong had gone overseas for training and would be away for a long time. Liu Ziguang, disbelieving, pressed him for her whereabouts. Han Jin then accused Liu Ziguang of causing Hu Rong repeated trouble since his return to Jiangbei, citing incidents involving Longyang, Sun Wei, and Hou Sihai, each of which brought her danger.
He asserted that Liu Ziguang's persistent pursuit, while he might see it as protection, was a burden for Hu Rong. Liu Ziguang vehemently denied this, insisting he only wanted to protect her and demanding to know where she was, but Han Jin advised him to think carefully and left. Meanwhile, Bei Xiaoshuai tried to get a despondent Liu Ziguang, who was refusing to eat, to have some noodles.
Uncle Guo arrived and questioned Liu Ziguang about his state, realizing it was due to Hu Rong. He asked if Liu Ziguang truly loved Hu Rong and if he believed she loved him back. When Liu Ziguang affirmed his belief in their love, Uncle Guo challenged him on his self-destructive behavior, reminding him that Hu Rong's work as a police officer was special and that she likely left without explanation to protect him.
He encouraged Liu Ziguang to be a real man, take care of himself, and wait for her to return and explain, rather than becoming a "wreck." Uncle Guo recalled how Liu Ziguang had changed for the better since returning to Jiangbei, becoming a strong and righteous man like his father, but expressed disappointment that such a minor setback was causing him to lose his wisdom and strength.
To prompt him, Uncle Guo even took Liu Ziguang's bowl of noodles, threatening to eat them himself. Liu Ziguang finally took the bowl and ate, breaking his fast. Later, Han Jin expressed guilt to Hu Rong's father, Hu Yuejin, about their deception.
Hu Yuejin admonished him, stating that their actions were for the greater good of both Hu Rong and Liu Ziguang, and that a police officer should not be sentimental when it comes to the success of an undercover mission and an officer's safety. He jokingly recalled Hu Rong's nickname for Han Jin, "Mother-in-law," saying it was fitting given his overly caring nature.
Liu Ziguang went to the amusement park, revisiting a place where he and Hu Rong had once shared tender moments. He remembered Hu Rong's words about their first meeting—how she knew he was a police officer and how he must always remember her identity. He realized the depth of her commitment to her duty and her painstaking efforts.
Earlier, Hu Rong, informed by Sister Xiao that she would be cleaning Mei Jie's office, had discovered Xiao Fei with 'Angel' drugs and drug paraphernalia in his room. She formulated a bold plan to use this to gain Mei Jie's trust, which was approved by her superiors. Mei Jie observed Hu Rong through surveillance cameras. After Hu Rong finished, Mei Jie complimented her work before dismissing her.
In her office, Mei Jie received a reprimanding call from Lisa, her boss, regarding Hou Sihai. Lisa was furious that Mei Jie had allowed Hou Sihai to stay at Golden Glory before his death, which led to the Tiger Company being investigated. Mei Jie explained that Hou Sihai had cornered her, and she had driven him away, claiming Golden Glory was not implicated because he didn't die there.
Lisa, however, was not appeased, ordering Mei Jie to immediately destroy all records linking Golden Glory to the Tiger Company and to report any future issues without acting independently. Mei Jie assured Lisa she would comply. A flashback then showed Mei Jie’s earlier tense conversation with Hou Sihai, where he accused her of wanting him gone due to Lisa's fear of police involvement. Hou Sihai had vowed to return and reclaim Jiangbei after laying low.
Bei Xiaoshuai took Liu Ziguang to a prime location in Jiangbei's business district, proposing they establish their "Sunshine Construction Supply Company" there. He envisioned the company becoming influential in Jiangbei within a few years, aiming for a stock market listing. Liu Ziguang was hesitant, still concerned about the one-million-yuan debt they owed Nie Wanfeng. They visited Nie Wanfeng to explain their new venture and requested a two-month extension for the loan.
Nie Wanfeng, surprisingly generous, offered to convert the one million yuan into an investment in their new company, asking only for a shareholder agreement. Bei Xiaoshuai was ecstatic, readily agreeing, but Liu Ziguang remained wary of Nie Wanfeng's excessive generosity. On their way back, Liu Ziguang expressed his unease, believing Nie Wanfeng's actions were suspicious, but Bei Xiaoshuai dismissed his worries, eager to seize the opportunity. Liu Ziguang, however, insisted on repaying the debt and refused Nie Wanfeng's investment.
Mei Jie confronted Xiao Fei in her office, scolding him fiercely for bringing drugs into his room, emphasizing that it could have jeopardized Golden Glory. During a surprise police raid, Hu Rong quickly hid the drugs Xiao Fei had, preventing their discovery. Mei Jie then summoned Chu Feifei (Hu Rong) and praised her quick thinking for concealing the drugs during the police raid. Mei Jie questioned why Hu Rong didn't turn the drugs over to the police.
Hu Rong, feigning fear of losing her job and citing her father's gambling debts, knelt and pleaded for Mei Jie to give her another chance, promising to do anything. Mei Jie, acknowledging that Hu Rong's actions had protected Golden Glory, agreed to give her a chance, tasking her with retrieving an item at 10 PM that night, warning of severe consequences if she failed. Meanwhile, Bei Xiaoshuai’s streamer girlfriend, Tang Xin, met him at Golden Glory.
She enthusiastically kissed him and immediately proposed marriage, suggesting they get their license the next day, travel to the Maldives the day after, and have a baby the following year. To test her sincerity, Bei Xiaoshuai intentionally described his family as being in a miserable financial situation. Tang Xin, however, reacted with disdain and left. As Bei Xiaoshuai left Golden Glory, he saw Hu Rong getting into a car and quickly called Liu Ziguang.
Later that night, Hu Rong, following Mei Jie's instructions, went to a designated location and retrieved a black package. As she prepared to leave, two thug-like men approached, attempting to snatch the bag. When Hu Rong resisted, they began to beat her. In the monitoring room, Han Jin and his team observed the unfolding danger and were about to order nearby police officers to intervene. However, Director Hu, remaining calm, decisively stopped them.
