Gu Zi Chen explained that he had confirmed with his father, Gu Wei Ye, that they were not related, dismissing the "sibling" misunderstanding as full of loopholes.
He apologized sincerely for his past mistakes that had caused her pain, professed his love, and asked to get back together. Su Nian Nian, though grateful he had clarified the situation, insisted she wasn't ready for a relationship and wanted to focus on her father. She also pointed out that he was He Mei's boyfriend and should respect both her and He Mei, especially since He Mei had transferred to QYU for him.
Gu Zi Chen clarified that his relationship with He Mei was merely a "partnership" formed due to the sibling misunderstanding and that no romantic feelings existed between them, swearing to it. He argued that love couldn't be given away out of gratitude, even if He Mei loved him. Their conversation shifted to Su Nian Nian's father, Su Da Zhi. Meanwhile, He Mei, having seen Gu Zi Chen and Su Nian Nian together, called the paparazzi, Xiao Huang, urging him to take photos.
Angry that Gu Zi Chen had used her and determined not to lose him, she later met with Xiao Huang and provided him with information about Su Nian Nian's background, boasting that Su Nian Nian was "still wet behind the ears" in their rivalry. He then subtly inquired about renewing her "employment contract," prompting Su Da Zhi to inadvertently confirm that such a contract existed and was nearing its expiration.
Excited by his success, Xiao Huang recorded their conversation and gloated about the impending popularity of his "shocking news." Meanwhile, Gu Zi Chen, wanting to completely resolve the misunderstanding, met with He Mei and gave her a watch as a thank-you gift for her "cooperation." He Mei, feigning understanding, assured him she had reflected and realized her obsession was wrong, agreeing that love couldn't be forced.
Gu Zi Chen then asked her to explain their "fake relationship" to Su Nian Nian, hoping it would help her accept him. He Mei agreed to do so the next day before class. The next day, as He Mei and Gu Zi Chen arrived in class, they found it in an uproar.
