Young Blood Episode 27 Recap
> Young Blood Recap
Yuan Zhongxin and Zhao Jian arrived at the inn looking for Huo Yuguang, only to find he had already escaped through a broken window. Zhao Jian quickly realized that Yuan Zhongxin had intentionally allowed Huo Yuguang to flee, a fact Yuan Zhongxin didn't deny. He explained that he had already mobilized the local ruffians to watch the hostel, anticipating Huo Yuguang’s escape as a way to track his movements.
Meanwhile, Wang Kuan and his companions were escorted to a heavily guarded courtyard. There, they encountered a venerable old man. Wang Kuan was astonished to discover that this man was his former teacher, Lv Jian, who served as a Grand Commandant. Lv Jian demonstrated his deep knowledge of each of their identities and backgrounds, engaging them in heartfelt conversations. Even Wei Yanei and the others were impressed by Lv Jian's stature and wisdom.
Lv Jian, who had been closely monitoring the Secret Repository, revealed his intent to disband it. He clarified that the fault wasn't with the Secret Repository itself, but with Lu Guannian, whose unscrupulous methods he feared would corrupt future generations of officials, endangering the Song dynasty. Lv Jian also disclosed that a group of Liao secret agents had entered Kaifeng for the Empress's upcoming birthday banquet, yet Lu Guannian remained inactive, which Lv Jian found suspicious.
Therefore, he tasked Seven Section with secretly investigating the Liao spies, believing them to be trustworthy due to their frequent disagreements with Lu Guannian's methods. He assured them that if his suspicions about Lu Guannian proved unfounded, he would personally apologize. Huo Yuguang, who had managed to escape, was pursued by assassins. When Yuan Zhongxin and Zhao Jian arrived at the scene, Huo Yuguang had already fled again.
Examining the arrows found at the guest house, they determined the weapons were from the Song military. During his escape, Huo Yuguang encountered Han Duanzhang and expressed surprise that he hadn't been captured. Han Duanzhang then shot Huo Yuguang with arrows. Huo Yuguang plunged into the water, and Han Duanzhang ordered his men to retrieve the body, continuing to shoot arrows into the water. Unbeknownst to Han Duanzhang, Huo Yuguang was secretly rescued by Yuan Zhongxin and Zhao Jian.
Seriously injured, Huo Yuguang revealed that Han Duanzhang was his pursuer and the true mastermind behind framing the Secret Agent Department. Yuan Zhongxin and Zhao Jian were shocked by this revelation, but Huo Yuguang soon fell unconscious. Back at the courier hostel, Wang Kuan and the others discovered an unconscious stranger in their room. A note left by Zhao Jian identified the man as the Liao secret agent who had attempted to assassinate Princess Yun Ni.
Yuan Zhongxin and Zhao Jian had separately gone to confront Lu Guannian, demanding to see Han Duanzhang. To their surprise, they found Han Duanzhang confined in a secret room within Lu Guannian's residence. Having been disturbed, Han Duanzhang suspected Yuan Zhongxin and Zhao Jian of having found Huo Yuguang and urged Lu Guannian to eliminate them. However, Lu Guannian vehemently refused to harm his students.
Upon returning to the hostel, Yuan Zhongxin and Zhao Jian relayed the astonishing events to Wang Kuan's group, admitting their growing suspicions about Lu Guannian. Wei Yanei then shared details of their meeting with Lv Jian, who also harbored doubts about Lu Guannian. Zhao Jian, fearing Yun Ni's assassination attempt was part of a larger plot connected to the Empress's birthday banquet, expressed her desire to uncover the full truth.
Yuan Zhongxin suggested that understanding Huo Yuguang's motive for targeting Yun Ni might lead them to the core of the mystery. When Huo Yuguang regained consciousness, he revealed the full extent of the conspiracy to Seven Section. He explained that due to civil unrest in Liao and the disappearance of Prince Yun'an, Princess Yun Ni was being coerced into assassinating the Song Empress during the birthday banquet.
His own mission to Song was to kill Yun Ni, not out of malice, but to prevent her assassination attempt, which would inevitably spark a war between Song and Liao. Since Yun Ni was a Liao princess, her death in Kaifeng would provoke an unavoidable conflict. With Yun Ni's forced participation in the dance ceremony already confirmed, Yuan Zhongxin devised a plan to disrupt the assassination without resorting to violence.
He instructed Wei Yanei to employ a "honey trap" on Xiaohua, Yun Ni's close attendant, to ascertain the exact details of the assassination plot. Following the plan, Wei Yanei approached Xiaohua, presenting the severely wounded Huo Yuguang as a "betrothal gift" to propose marriage. He then requested to speak with Xiaohua alone, leaving Huo Yuguang with Princess Yun Ni.
Huo Yuguang directly confronted Yun Ni, informing her that he knew about Prince Yun'an's capture and her forced involvement in the assassination. He reiterated that his mission was to prevent her from assassinating the Song Empress, thereby averting war. He further revealed that Han Duanzhang was the one who had previously attempted to kill him and was also responsible for capturing Prince Yun'an.
Recognizing Han Duanzhang's insidious ambition, Huo Yuguang urged Yun Ni to cooperate with them and cancel the assassination. However, Yun Ni, facing the ultimatum that Prince Yun'an would be killed if she failed to assassinate the Empress within two days, felt she had no choice but to proceed. Xiaohua, despite being a servant, shared a deep sisterly bond with Princess Yun Ni. She confided in Wei Yanei about their close relationship and implored him to help save Yun Ni's life.
Through Xiaohua, Wei Yanei learned the intricate assassination plan: the hats worn by the dancers during the performance had hidden sachets filled with potent poison powder behind their long tassels. At a predetermined moment during the dance, they would remove these sachets and sprinkle the poison onto the Song Empress.
To avert war while ensuring Yun Ni's safety, Wei Yanei instructed Xiaohua that the dance must proceed as planned, but the assassination could be thwarted by secretly replacing the poison powder with harmless perfume. He emphasized the importance of keeping Yun Ni from discovering the switch. With Xiaohua's assistance, the exchange was successfully carried out. Wei Yanei reminded Xiaohua to maintain a facade of normalcy to prevent Yun Ni from noticing the alteration. Though the assassination was foiled and Yun Ni's life saved, Xiaohua remained deeply concerned for the safety of Prince Yun'an.
