Bright Eyes in the Dark Episode 4 Recap
> Bright Eyes in the Dark Recap
During a meeting, Lin Luxiao publicly criticized Shao Yijiu and Qin Shiquan for their basic firefighting errors, stating that fire rescue is not a place for them to show off. Shao Yijiu admitted their fault, explaining they just wanted to save people, referencing how Lin Luxiao had rescued them during an earthquake years ago, and asked for another chance. Lin Luxiao instructed them to copy the fire rescue manual three times each, hoping they would learn from the experience.
Yu Qilei gave Shao Yijiu and Qin Shiquan a summary of his work experience, and Shao Yijiu, acknowledging Yu Qilei's expertise in structural engineering, asked to be taught by him. Instructor Yang Zhengang also spoke with the two, comforting them after the reprimand. He encouraged them to understand Lin Luxiao's perspective, explaining that the earthquake had been a significant blow to him.
Yang Zhengang emphasized that while their desire to be heroes is commendable, it cannot be based on individualism, and as firefighters, their priority must be to follow discipline and fulfill their duties. Later, Yang Zhengang visited Lin Luxiao, bringing him a dessert. He mentioned Shao Yijiu reminded him of a younger Lin Luxiao and that Qin Shiquan had the potential to be a commander. Yang suggested finding them a master and proposed that Lin Luxiao personally take them on.
Lin Luxiao was initially reluctant, citing his busy schedule. However, Yang persisted, arguing that since Lin Luxiao had eaten the dessert he brought, he couldn't refuse. Despite Lin Luxiao's other concerns, Yang took his silent acquiescence as agreement. Lin Luxiao then summoned Shao Yijiu and Qin Shiquan. They immediately apologized again, explaining that while copying the manual, they realized how reckless they had been and that they could have become a burden.
Acknowledging their remorse, Lin Luxiao explained the station's tradition of experienced members guiding new ones. He announced that due to their unique circumstances, he would personally mentor them, instructing them to come to him with any questions and to follow his direct orders on missions. They gratefully accepted, calling him their "Master." Meanwhile, Jiang Ge returned from abroad.
At the airport, his assistant informed him that his father, the Chairman, was transforming the company to focus on entertainment and showed him a list of artists. Jiang Ge was surprised to see Lin Qi's photo. A flashback revealed an incident in Milan where a drunk Jiang Ge had aggressively demanded a 'laobing' (Chinese flatbread) at an Italian restaurant. Nan Chu and Lin Qi, who worked there, intervened, and the confrontation ended with Nan Chu calling the police.
Holding a grudge, Jiang Ge decided to find Lin Qi under the pretense of discussing a cooperation. Jiang Ge went to see his father, who criticized his irresponsibility and the Milan incident, questioning a hand injury Jiang Ge sustained while canyoning. Jiang Ge defended his passion for extreme sports, listing his skills in wilderness survival and even a high-altitude rescue certification. His father dismissed these as excuses for incompetence.
To train him, his father assigned him a project: overseeing a collaboration with the fire department for a fire prevention educational program. Jiang Ge initially refused, but his father threatened to cut him off financially. Jiang Ge reluctantly agreed, insisting he would implement the project with his own unique ideas. Back at the dance studio, Nan Chu informed her members that the rent issue was resolved and they could focus on the upcoming modern dance competition.
When some worried she might not dance with them as much after signing with an entertainment company, Nan Chu reassured them that dancing was her primary passion and she would not abandon them or the Dream Dance Club. The group decided to celebrate her new "side job" with a meal. Lin Qi called Nan Chu, inviting her to Jiangse Bar for a welcome-home meal.
When Nan Chu arrived, she found Lin Qi being confronted by Jiang Ge, who accused him of getting him in trouble with the police in Milan over a simple 'laobing.' Seeing the situation escalate, Nan Chu decisively called the police again, to Jiang Ge's exasperation. At the police station, Lin Qi ran into an officer who was an acquaintance of his brother and was mortified when the officer called his brother to pick him up.
Nan Chu, learning that Lin Qi's brother was the handsome firefighter who had saved her twice, tried to reassure him. Lin Luxiao arrived to sign them out. As they were leaving, Nan Chu received a call from Shen Guangzong, warning her that paparazzi were outside, targeting Jiang Ge. Realizing she couldn't be photographed in a scandal, Nan Chu asked Lin Luxiao and Lin Qi for help to leave discreetly. Outside, an enraged Jiang Ge confronted the paparazzi.
Later, Lin Luxiao and Lin Qi had hot pot together. Lin Qi explained the incident at the bar was a misunderstanding and clarified that he and Nan Chu were just good friends who met in Milan. He shared that he had signed with a company and was preparing for a solo recital, making Lin Luxiao proud. They discussed their father's nagging, and Lin Luxiao suggested they visit their mother's grave together during his next leave, which Lin Qi agreed to.
Meanwhile, Meng Guohong called Lin Luxiao and Yang Zhengang to discuss a television program that wanted to feature firefighters, proposing the Heping Road Special Service Station. Yang Zhengang was enthusiastic, arguing it would promote the image of firefighters and educate the public on fire safety. Lin Luxiao was staunchly against it, arguing they were too busy and short-staffed, viewing such programs as an unproductive disruption. Seeing their conflicting opinions, Meng Guohong told them to return and reach a consensus.
At the station, Shao Yijiu challenged Yu Qilei to a game of Jenga, making a bet with Liu Ruyi over chores. He lost effortlessly. A colleague then revealed an unofficial station rule: never play Jenga with Yu Qilei. When asked, Yu Qilei, who had never lost, explained that for him, pulling the wrong block was akin to a mistake in structural engineering—a mistake that could cost lives. Deeply impressed, Shao Yijiu and Qin Shiquan asked Yu Qilei to teach them about structural engineering.
