Lin Luojing urged Jiang Xuanyu to stop hesitating, reminding him how much he must have missed Tang Meng these past days and how worried he must be now that she was in trouble. She assured him that Zhong Wumei would quickly resolve the problems, and they wouldn't need to stay hidden in the remote location forever. Still unsure, Jiang Xuanyu was finally convinced when Lin Luojing emphasized that saving Tang Meng was paramount, recalling Tang Meng's father's dying wish.

Grateful, Jiang Xuanyu ran out and left with two palace guards. Examining the ransom note, Lin Luojing recognized the paper as being from Jin Chen's mansion, identical to the one previously used to frame Xi Que. A sudden realization hit her: it was a diversion tactic. Just then, Jin Chen entered with several men in black to seize her. Lin Luojing accused him of orchestrating the entire plot.

She demanded to know why he was abducting her, and he responded that he merely wished to "ask her something." She offered to go with him willingly if he released Xi Que, and Jin Chen agreed, stating he needed someone to inform Zhong Wumei of her capture. Lin Luojing realized Jin Chen intended to use her to threaten Zhong Wumei.

Xi Que, reluctant to leave, was persuaded by Lin Luojing, who explained that she would be safe as long as Jin Chen hadn't achieved his goal, and that Xi Que needed to return to inform Zhong Wumei. Xi Que understood, and Jin Chen then led Lin Luojing away. Meanwhile, Jiang Xuanyu arrived at the desolate temple specified as the exchange point. He called out for Tang Meng, but only silence answered.

Upon entering, he noticed the burning incense and immediately recognized the intoxicating scent. As he tried to escape, the temple doors slammed shut. Two men in black quickly subdued his guards, Ah Jun and Ah Hu, and Jiang Xuanyu was overcome by the fumes, collapsing unconscious. Tang Meng then emerged from a hidden corner, expressing her desire for him to remain by her side forever, far from worldly strife.

Lin Luojing awoke to find herself in a small room, her movements restricted. She confronted Jin Chen, who mockingly observed her temper for a prisoner. She demanded to know his true intentions, suspecting he was after the Crystal bead and accusing him of causing the Sheng Jing river crisis. Jin Chen dismissed the suffering of the Sheng Jing people as insignificant to his grand "righteousness."

Lin Luojing condemned him as a wretch, reminding him of the Zhong family's kindness, but Jin Chen retorted, questioning their "kindness" to his own father. He further provoked her by recalling her lack of compassion when she accused Xiaoyu. Lin Luojing was horrified, realizing that Xiaoyu had been Jin Chen's spy, feeding him information about the Prince Yuan Zheng's mansion. She was appalled that he had remained unmoved when Xiaoyu died for him.

Jin Chen coldly asserted that he had saved Xiaoyu's life, and her death in his service was therefore justified. Lin Luojing cursed him, to which Jin Chen sarcastically questioned the meaning of love, challenging her to see if her love would keep her alive. He then released her pressure points, locked the door, and left.

Lin Luojing, recognizing Jin Chen's madness but relieved he was unaware of the Crystal bead's true secret, began to search for an escape route, but the heavily guarded room proved impenetrable. She mused that historical dramas made escaping seem far too easy. At the Zhong Wumei's palace, Zhong Wumei was discussing the severe water crisis in Sheng Jing, proposing to dig a canal from the Xi Ling River to provide a permanent solution.

He was interrupted by a frantic Xi Que, who informed him that Jin Chen had used a diversion to abduct Lin Luojing. Enraged, Zhong Wumei immediately ordered a search. Lin Luojing, still imprisoned, meticulously crafted a message on a small piece of paper, using a unique code: "There's a temple on East Mountain. I'm waiting to be saved near an old locust tree. Jing."

She tried to find a way to send it out, wishing for a dove to carry it. Jin Chen later entered, finding the message. He mocked Lin Luojing, observing that his "guest" found his hospitality lacking and suggested they relocate. When asked where he was taking her, he simply told her to guess. Meanwhile, Zhong Wumei's guards searched Lin Luojing's former residence and discovered an item belonging to Qi Yu's elite soldiers hidden in a corridor crevice.

This led Zhong Wumei to suspect that Liu Xiuwen and Jin Chen had conspired to abduct Lin Luojing, leaving him bewildered as to Liu Xiuwen's motive. His subordinate suggested directly attacking Qi Yu's palace, but Zhong Wumei rejected the idea, citing the recent instability in Qi Yu Village and the potential for a disastrous backlash without concrete evidence. He acknowledged his immense anxiety over Lin Luojing's capture but stressed that a reckless move would only put her in greater danger.

Instead, he dispatched a team of secret guards to monitor Liu Xiuwen, pondering whether Liu Xiuwen was actively harming Lin Luojing or merely being manipulated by Jin Chen. Elsewhere, Zhong Ziyun broke a mystical barrier to awaken Hua Yingchi. She informed him that the Crystal bead had been stolen and the Sect Leader was missing, declaring it the long-foretold hundred-year calamity. Hua Yingchi, who had just been disturbed by a premonitory dream, immediately confronted Jin Chen to rescue Hua Yingyun.

Jin Chen, however, produced Lin Luojing's handkerchief, disarming Hua Yingchi. Using the Immortal Rope, Jin Chen captured Hua Yingchi, gloating about the effectiveness of using Lin Luojing to achieve his goals. Hua Yingchi realized that Jin Chen was indeed responsible for Lin Luojing's abduction. Liu Xiuwen angrily confronted Jin Chen, demanding to know why he hadn't disclosed that moving the Crystal bead would cause the Sheng Jing River to dry up.

He emphasized that his goal was to benefit Qi Yu, not to harm the people of Sheng Jing or even his own Qi Yu tribe, who were now also suffering. Jin Chen cut him off, reminding Liu Xiuwen that he himself had secretly moved the Crystal bead, and therefore could not blame Jin Chen for the consequences. Liu Xiuwen insisted he would never have moved it had he known the devastating impact.

Declaring Jin Chen's deceit intolerable, Liu Xiuwen announced the end of their alliance. Jin Chen, undeterred, warned Liu Xiuwen not to overestimate his newfound power, implying he had other means of control despite having given him the antidote to Han Shuang Xue. Jin Chen then provocatively displayed Lin Luojing's handkerchief. Liu Xiuwen was visibly alarmed and attempted to snatch it, questioning why Jin Chen would abduct Lin Luojing when she had supposedly broken ties with Zhong Wumei.

Jin Chen scoffed at his ignorance, revealing that Zhong Wumei and Lin Luojing's separation was merely a ruse, and their affection remained strong. He even thanked Liu Xiuwen for providing the elite soldiers that made Lin Luojing's capture so effortless. Liu Xiuwen then proposed that Jin Chen hand Lin Luojing over to him as leverage against Zhong Wumei, promising to guard her securely.

Jin Chen dismissed this as self-deception, stating that just as he provided the antidote for verification, he would never surrender Lin Luojing after having captured her. He advised Liu Xiuwen to abandon his useless thoughts, assuring Lin Luojing's safety if he remained obedient. Liu Xiuwen, calling Jin Chen "evil" as he departed, was told by Jin Chen that he would now leave Qi Yu's Palace and reside in his secret room.

Later, Liu Xiuwen, after calming down, apologized to Jin Chen for his outburst. Jin Chen reiterated his promise to uphold their alliance and guarantees, again warning Liu Xiuwen against "useless" thoughts and promising Lin Luojing's safety if he remained compliant. Yi Yi, Liu Xiuwen's subordinate, confirmed that the antidote to Han Shuang Xue provided by Jin Chen was genuine and urged Liu Xiuwen to take it immediately.

However, Liu Xiuwen decided to reserve it, suspecting Jin Chen might administer Han Shuang Xue to Lin Luojing. Yi Yi pressed him to take it, but Liu Xiuwen refused, stating he wouldn't consume it until more "important matters" were resolved. Yi Yi, realizing he referred to saving Lin Luojing, asked if he was involved in her capture. Liu Xiuwen denied it, explaining he had overheard the argument between Jin Chen and himself from outside.

Yi Yi confronted Liu Xiuwen, accusing him of never truly letting go of Lin Luojing and continuously deceiving himself. She lamented their years of struggle and sacrifice for Qi Yu, feeling it was all for naught compared to Lin Luojing in his heart. Liu Xiuwen admitted he couldn't remain indifferent but assured Yi Yi he would handle the situation.

Yi Yi, emotional, recounted her lifelong devotion to him and Qi Yu, asking who he would choose between Qi Yu and Lin Luojing if forced. Liu Xiuwen remained silent, later pondering that he no longer understood his own heart. In the prison, Jin Chen visited Lin Luojing, observing her attempts to escape and mockingly questioning her plans.

He then forced her to swallow a pill, revealing it to be Han Shuang Xue, his most potent poison, capable of causing excruciating pain and controlling one's mind. Lin Luojing cursed him as a pervert and a wretch, prophesying divine retribution. Jin Chen dismissed her warnings, asserting that he only believed in his own wishes coming true. He taunted her about her popularity, noting how everyone seemed to revolve around her.

When he reached out to her, she recoiled in fear. He then described the constant dread of not knowing what tomorrow holds, a feeling he experienced daily, and vowed to inflict the same suffering on everyone else. Lin Luojing, defiant, declared she was not afraid and that Zhong Wumei would never be controlled by him. Jin Chen retorted that she could witness for herself if Zhong Wumei would be controlled.

A guard then informed Liu Xiuwen that Zhong Wumei, the Prince Regent of Sheng Jing, was outside and wished to see him, claiming Liu Xiuwen had summoned him. Liu Xiuwen was bewildered. Jin Chen, speaking to the still-hidden Liu Xiuwen, revealed that he had sent Zhong Wumei a letter in Liu Xiuwen's name, reiterating Liu Xiuwen's subordinate status and Jin Chen's leverage. Zhong Wumei entered, immediately demanding Lin Luojing's whereabouts.

Jin Chen suavely replied that he was "taking good care" of his brother-in-law's wife and threatened Lin Luojing's life if Zhong Wumei did not cooperate. Zhong Wumei pleaded with him not to harm her, offering himself instead. Jin Chen remarked on their deep affection and asked the hidden Liu Xiuwen for his opinion.
