Shan Dandan decided to test her martial arts skills against Si Ruyu. During the warm-up, it was clear Si Ruyu was more skilled than Shan Dandan, much to the frustration of Shan Shuangshuang watching. When the main competition involving shooting targets began, Shan Shuangshuang stepped in to replace her sister. After a round of shots, Si Ruyu was outmatched by Shan Shuangshuang and admitted defeat, agreeing to purchase all the jewelry currently in Precious Pei Pavilion.

Meanwhile, Su Jue encountered an old acquaintance, Si Ruchu, the eldest son of Mine Owner Si. The two shared a history and Si Ruchu was well-informed about the jade business in Jade Cloud City. He knew that Su Jue's actions had forced Precious Pei Pavilion to abandon the jade trade and switch to selling jewelry.

Although the Si family had traditionally focused solely on Mount Mo Jade, Si Ruchu revealed his ambition to acquire all types of jade mines across the nation. This ambition sparked a sense of crisis for Su Jue, but Si Ruchu saw it as seizing opportunity, comparing his own ruthlessness in removing obstacles to Su Jue's methods against the Pei family. They acknowledged their strikingly similar approaches.

A'Liu also learned that the Eldest Young Master of the Si family had arrived in Jade Cloud City and quickly reported it. Pei Pei believed that gaining the Si family's support would significantly benefit their business, considering them the real "God of Wealth." Hoping to secure this assistance, Pei Pei immediately took Shan Dandan and Shan Shuangshuang to a restaurant to meet Si Ruchu.

Si Ruyu also heard the news about the Si family's eldest son being in the city but was unaware his brother had arrived. He decided to follow Pei Pei and the others to the restaurant out of curiosity. Pei Pei was eager to meet the esteemed Si Eldest Young Master, but upon reaching the restaurant, he discovered Su Jue was also present. Feeling they couldn't just leave, they stayed. Just then, Si Ruyu arrived.

Shan Dandan initially found his presence unnecessary and wanted him to leave, but they were stunned to learn he was actually the Si family's Second Young Master. They realized the seemingly frivolous young man they had looked down upon was, in fact, a member of the powerful Si family. Su Jue asserted that since Precious Pei Pavilion was no longer in the jade business, they shouldn't bother the Si family and offered to host both Si brothers himself.

However, to try and salvage a potential business relationship, Shan Dandan impulsively invited Si Ruyu to stay at their residence, which he accepted. Si Ruyu understood that the Pei family's hospitality was motivated by their desire to resume the jade business. He challenged Pei Pei to showcase their family's legendary jade carving skills. Pei Pei demonstrated his craftsmanship, which Si Ruyu greatly admired, acknowledging the pity of such skill being in their current state.

Si Ruyu indicated that helping them was possible but required careful consideration, given the Si family's strict trade rules. Si Ruyu moved into the Pei residence, accompanied by several women, whom A'Liu initially dismissed as typical companions for a playboy. However, after hearing the women's stories, A'Liu learned they were all individuals Si Ruyu had rescued from difficult circumstances, revealing a kinder side to his character beneath the surface.

Shan Dandan remained worried about whether Si Ruyu would agree to help them, but she held strong confidence in Pei Pei, believing him to be the most skilled jade carver in Jade Cloud City. Si Ruyu later clarified his family's established rule: they only supply jade to genuine jade enthusiasts, not those primarily dealing in gold and silver.

Therefore, for the Pei family to receive his family's supply, they needed to be prepared to fully commit to the jade business and abandon gold and silver jewelry. Shan Dandan acknowledged that Pei Pei's true passion lay in jade, agreeing that they should transition back to focusing on the jade trade. That night, Shan Shuangshuang noticed one of Si Ruyu's companions (Swallow) sneaking into the kitchen.

She discreetly followed and observed the woman poisoning tea before instructing a servant to deliver it to Si Ruyu. Shan Shuangshuang quickly entered Si Ruyu's room and knocked the cup out of his hand just as he was about to drink, saving him. She warned him to be cautious of those close to him. This close call triggered Si Ruyu's memory of his wife, Wan Wan, dying during childbirth years ago, and their child also not surviving.

His elder brother, Si Ruchu, had been the only family member home at the time and had arranged the burials before Si Ruyu returned. Overcome with grief, Si Ruyu had later questioned a servant about the details and suspected his wife might have been poisoned, noting the presence of black blood.

The current poisoning attempt made him realize his earlier suspicion might be true and fear that his brother, motivated by greed for the family's legacy, could be responsible for such a heinous act. A flashback revealed that Si Ruyu's father, Si Yuan Nian, had highly praised Si Ruyu's wife and designated their unborn child as the future Si family heir.

Si Yuan Nian was deeply dissatisfied with Si Ruchu's secret ventures into businesses other than jade, which went against the family's tradition of solely focusing on jade as their lifelong livelihood and honoring their ancestors. Although Si Ruyu had tried to cover for Si Ruchu, Si Yuan Nian had long been aware of his elder son's activities but had mostly turned a blind eye. However, their conversation was overheard by Si Ruchu.

Driven by the desire to eliminate Si Ruyu and secure the inheritance, Si Ruchu orchestrated the poisoning of Si Ruyu's wife and child while Si Ruyu was away. The next morning, Shan Dandan and Pei Pei attempted to discuss potential cooperation with Si Ruyu. However, Si Ruyu seemed uninterested, cutting short their conversation and suggesting they all go shopping around Jade Cloud City instead, leaving Shan Dandan and Pei Pei bewildered about his intentions.

Once on the street, Si Ruyu unexpectedly dismissed both Shan Dandan and Pei Pei, as well as his own companions (Oriole and Swallow), telling them to enjoy time off. Confused, the others couldn't understand his actions. It was revealed that Si Ruyu suspected his two companions were spies.

After sending them away, he secretly followed them and confirmed his suspicion when he overheard them planning to meet Si Ruchu to report, solidifying his belief that his brother was actively plotting against him.
