Tomb of the Sea Episode 47 Recap
> Tomb of the Sea Recap
Clan Wang, guided remotely by Li Cu, reached the mechanism of the underground palace. They navigated the dangerous area, carefully avoiding deadly fishhooks. Despite sustaining severe injuries, the Clan Wang members successfully pulled down the mechanism. Immediately after, they were subjected to a barrage of flying arrows but managed to dodge them with swift movements. After these obstacles, they finally arrived at the main gate.
Several Clan Wang members simultaneously pulled the four door rings, and an instructor above them opened a small door, revealing the snake ore containing Wang Zanghai's memories. The instructor extracted the snake poison fluid and presented it to Mr. Wang, but Li Cu refused to interpret it. Li Cu stated that he would only agree to interpret the memories when Clan Wang fully trusted him, believing it would be beneficial for both sides.
Su Nan and Wu Xie had been confined in the temple for a considerable time, experiencing constant anxiety. One day, the Lamas in the temple loudly announced that "The mountain pass is open!" Su Nan was startled, her attention diverted as the water she was pouring overflowed her bowl. Later that evening, Su Nan was discovered by Wu Xie searching through his room, prompting her to leave awkwardly.
The following morning, Su Nan sat by the entrance, staring at the distant snow mountain, her spirits low. She expressed her longing for the snow to melt and the mountain pass to open, asking Wu Xie how long it would take. Wu Xie advised her not to stare at the snow mountain for too long, warning that while one instance of snow blindness might be fine, repeated exposure could lead to permanent blindness.
He informed her that the mountain would remain closed for a while longer, but not for too long. Master Black's training methods for Su Wan were unusual. When Master Black offered Su Wan tea, Su Wan remarked that tea now reminded him of wine, and wine reminded him of his chemistry tests. Master Black found this amusing, seeing it as proof that his curriculum was effective.
Su Wan, however, was wary, fearing more strange lessons and even mentioning that his college entrance exam didn't require history or sports. Master Black reassured him, explaining he wanted to tell a story about the Jiu Men. He recounted how the Jiu Men of the past, despite internal conflicts, would always unite and fight alongside each other under Uncle Buddha's leadership when facing external threats or major crises. However, after Uncle Buddha's passing, the Jiu Men changed.
The president of the Jiu Men Association, Zhang Rishan, diligently followed Uncle Buddha's instructions, but it was all in vain because the times had changed, and the Jiu Men could no longer find their place. Master Black also elaborated on how the emergence of Clan Wang had driven the current Jiu Men to its end, suggesting that perhaps being eliminated by the era was a good thing.
Yet, he noted that one person, Wu Xie, refused to accept this fate and insisted on fighting against the current era. Wu Xie, once innocent, had his life changed by meeting Zhang Qiling. Even after Zhang Qiling's departure, Wu Xie chose to stay and actively seek him. Traveling to many places, Wu Xie eventually formulated a comprehensive plan on the snow mountain to uproot both the current Jiu Men and Clan Wang.
Su Wan deeply empathized with Wu Xie's feelings for Zhang Qiling, relating it to his own bond with Li Cu and Yang Hao. He confessed his shame for not doing enough when Li Cu disappeared and vowed to follow him to the desert this time. However, he lamented that he had now lost Yang Hao, who had joined Huo Daofu.
Su Wan noted that Master Black seemed less cruel that day, and Master Black declared their conversation a "courtesy demands reciprocity." But this brief respite ended abruptly when Master Black announced it was time for Su Wan's third lesson. Master Black started the new lesson by demonstrating how Su Wan's joints hindered his movements. He then challenged Su Wan to attack him, emphasizing that enemies wouldn't wait for class to start.
Su Wan, despite his best efforts, couldn't land a single blow, marveling at Master Black's speed. Master Black explained that his speed wasn't the key; rather, it was Su Wan's slowness. He demonstrated how his wide range of joint motion and ability to predict movements allowed him to react without physically moving much. He further elaborated that relying on sight in a critical situation was a fatal flaw, and one must anticipate actions before seeing them.
Master Black, in a rare generous gesture, offered Su Wan his Fired rice with pork and green pepper for supper, but immediately added that training would continue afterward. He highlighted Su Wan's poor close-quarter combat skills, suggesting his speed and joint mobility were huge problems. Su Wan suggested keeping his distance, but Master Black countered that anyone skilled in throwing could eliminate him within ten meters. Su Wan, disbelieving, stood ten meters away.
Master Black then demonstrated his point by casually throwing the Fired rice with pork and green pepper, which landed squarely on Su Wan's head. Covered in rice, Su Wan declared he was quitting, expressing frustration at being constantly hit, unlike how his parents treated him. Master Black indifferently told him not to come back.
Su Wan, realizing his mistake, immediately knelt and apologized profusely, citing traditional proverbs about diligence and hard work, such as "endure hardships first, enjoy later" and "those who plant trees provide shade for those behind." Master Black remained unmoved until Su Wan mentioned wanting a tuition refund. Master Black instantly changed his tune, laughing and saying he was "just kidding," agreeing that Su Wan could return and assigning him to train for a full month.
Meanwhile, Yang Hao was working under Huo Daofu, having successfully handled matters involving Licai and BaMianHengTong, and dealing with some "scumbags." Huo Daofu praised his rapid development, but Yang Hao remained sullen. Huo Daofu remarked that Yang Hao still cared for his past friends and warned him that lingering attachment to the past would make him less ruthless. Yang Hao asserted that while he would follow Huo Daofu's orders, his personal affairs were his own business.
He stated that he had been on his own since abandoning Li Cu. Later, Su Wan, while walking alone and mumbling his English vocabulary, spotted Yang Hao drinking at a small street restaurant. Su Wan approached him, urging him to leave Huo Daofu, warning that his grandmother would not rest easy knowing his current path.
Yang Hao grew angry at the mention of his grandmother, accusing Su Wan and Li Cu of merely using him, and arguing that Huo Daofu at least gave him what he wanted, unlike the "worthless" way his former friends treated him. To test Su Wan's sincerity, Yang Hao demanded he drink all the beer on the table before he would even consider leaving JinShangZhu.
Despite having an exam the next day, Su Wan reluctantly agreed after suggesting other activities like karaoke. As Su Wan drank bottle after bottle, vivid memories of his and Yang Hao's shared past flashed before Yang Hao's eyes. Seeing Su Wan's struggle, Yang Hao, feeling remorse, finally intervened, grabbing the bottle and telling him to stop drinking.
Su Wan, in his drunken state, poured out his heart, expressing how useless he felt for failing to help Yang Hao and Li Cu, and wishing they could return to their old days of studying and playing together. Yang Hao, taking the heavily intoxicated Su Wan back to his lodging, simply told him to go home.
The next morning, Su Wan, having sobered up, pleaded with Yang Hao not to return to JinShangZhu, reminding him of Huo Daofu's true nature and suggesting he come along to Master Black. Yang Hao, however, reminded Su Wan that he had lost their drinking bet. Su Wan proposed other competitions, like video games or a duel, confident in his improved skills. Yang Hao, looking dejected, refused, stating they were fundamentally different.
He contrasted Su Wan's happy family and Li Cu's support with his own life, which was plagued by "all the bad lucks." Su Wan questioned Yang Hao's transformation, recounting his own ordeal in GuTongJing—being hunted, forced to jump a cliff, and bitten by snakes—and how his thoughts were always of his companions, of them. Dismissively, Yang Hao simply asked if Su Wan had an exam. Su Wan, due to the previous night's drinking, failed to complete his exam paper.
Afterward, a girl, who was Zheng Yi's crush, approached Su Wan, pressing him for Li Cu's whereabouts. Su Wan evasively replied that Li Cu was "maintaining world peace," to which the girl playfully asked if he had joined S. H. I. E. L. D. On their way home, they encountered Zheng Yi, who immediately physically attacked Su Wan, accusing him of taking Li Cu's place. However, Su Wan, hardened by Master Black's training, was agile.
He easily dodged Zheng Yi's attempts, cut Zheng Yi's bracelet with a knife, and quickly made his escape. Despite his deep bond of brotherhood, Yang Hao couldn't overcome his ingrained low self-esteem, perpetually feeling inferior to Su Wan and Li Cu, which was the core reason he refused to rejoin them.
