Tomb of the Sea Episode 21 Recap
> Tomb of the Sea Recap
When Li Cu arrived at Su Wan's house to share his experience at Shen Qiong's, he found Su Wan in an even more serious predicament. That evening, Su Wan had received a large package containing a desiccated corpse. Li Cu, with his recent experience in the desert, calmly analyzed that the body, though preserved in its clothing, had been wind-dried, indicating it died in a very arid environment like the desert.
Su Wan discovered a business card in the corpse's pocket, confirming Li Cu's suspicion that it was related to GuTongJing. The corpse was numbered 487, suggesting that at least 487 similar bodies might be involved. Su Wan worried that his home would turn into a morgue and noticed on the shipping label that the package was sent from an online shop called "WuShanJu."
Li Cu advised him to be psychologically prepared and suggested finding Yang Hao, who had many connections, to help dispose of it. After Li Cu left to find Yang Hao, Su Wan, while guarding the corpse, found the name "Saint Scott Machinery Factory" on its clothing. He quickly researched online and discovered news about the factory's involvement in "project 056" in Mongolia from 1941 to 1945, with no records after 1945. This timeframe coincidentally matched the incidents at GuTongJing.
Suddenly, the corpse sat up, terrifying Su Wan, who screamed for Li Cu and Yang Hao. The two arrived and armed themselves with sticks. In their panic, Yang Hao accidentally struck Li Cu. They then realized the "corpse" was just a model that had sat up due to an internal bracket, but Li Cu's hand had become impaled on it. Since his hand was stuck, they carefully took the model to Liang Wan's apartment for help.
Liang Wan was getting ready for a date with Zhang Rishan, and upon opening the door, she was horrified by the sight of the "corpse." Su Wan quickly explained it was just a model, and Li Cu, still attached to it, entered the apartment. Liang Wan, frightened, retreated to the bathroom, trying to convince herself it was an illusion. After composing herself, she professionally used a tool to extract Li Cu's hand.
Seeing an item from Li Cu’s pocket, she pressed him for details about his recent whereabouts. Su Wan inadvertently blurted out that Li Cu had been to the desert, but Li Cu quickly silenced him. Annoyed, Liang Wan tried to make them leave. Just then, the doorbell rang—it was Zhang Rishan.
Liang Wan hastily pushed Li Cu, Su Wan, and the model into her bedroom closet, warning them that the man at the door was her future husband and threatening to dissect them with a scalpel if they interfered. Zhang Rishan, noticing some sand near the door and Liang Wan’s flustered state, asked to use the bathroom and then began subtly searching the apartment. He tried to inspect the bedroom closet, but Liang Wan blocked him, claiming it held her underwear.
Although he didn't expose them, Zhang Rishan was aware of their presence and discreetly sent a text message stating, "The two kids are at her house." Meanwhile, Yang Hao arrived and called a taxi. The three friends, with the model, headed towards a reservoir. In a remote wooded area, the taxi driver, who was actually working for Zhang Rishan, claimed it was too dangerous and forced them out. They soon found a pre-dug pit and buried the model.
Unbeknownst to them, the pit had been dug by Luo Que, another of Zhang Rishan's men, who photographed their actions and sent the pictures to an unfazed Zhang Rishan. Zhang Rishan then took Liang Wan to the Crescent Hotel, explaining it was his workplace. Liang Wan commented on a female employee's "unruly" appearance. He then asked Liang Wan to examine a female patient, a member of the Wang Clan, to test Liang Wan's connections.
Liang Wan expressed annoyance, expecting a date rather than a medical consultation. After a professional examination, she diagnosed multiple traumas and contusions, noting that the injuries had been well-treated. She inquired if the patient was Zhang Rishan's employee, and he seemed surprised that Liang Wan didn't recognize her. Outside the room, an associate listened to Liang Wan's heartbeat, confirming it was normal, which satisfied Zhang Rishan that she was not involved with the Wang Clan.
Following this, Zhang Rishan and Liang Wan had dinner and watched an opera, with Zhang Rishan appearing much more relaxed and even serving her food. He pointed out a woman at another table as a member of the Huo family, a rival family with a long, hostile history. Liang Wan interpreted this as a hint about his many powerful female connections. Feeling used, she confronted him, questioning his true identity and the deliberate nature of their encounters.
Zhang Rishan responded vaguely, implying she wouldn't have to experience such "traps" in the future. Sensing a farewell, an emotional Liang Wan embraced him. After she left, Zhang Rishan immediately deleted and blocked her number. Heartbroken upon discovering she couldn't reach him, Liang Wan wept at home while searching for information about him online. Simultaneously, Su Wan and Yang Hao were searching online for "WuShanJu."
They, along with Liang Wan, found an identical photo depicting Wu Xie at the opening of the WuShanJu store. This photo had been intentionally placed online by Zhang Rishan as a clue. Seeing the picture, Liang Wan immediately booked a flight to WuShanJu. Li Cu, Su Wan, and Yang Hao also made plans to go. Zhang Rishan too was heading there, continuing his intricate plan to guide Li Cu back to Wu Xie.
