Xing Zhi truly became part of the fishermen by the seaside, going out to fish with them every day, then returning home to prepare fish for Shen Li, carefully picking out the bones and personally feeding her. Shen Li’s vision often failed her, so her sense of smell grew more sensitive. She noticed that the scent on Xing Zhi had changed from when she first smelled him.

At first, it was the pure scent of the sea breeze, but now it carried hints of fishiness and various seafood smells. Xing Zhi let Shen Li pick a few items she liked and planned to exchange a few pearls at the market for some fish. Unfortunately, this time at the market, Xing Zhi and Shen Li encountered a scoundrel—the village chief’s son, Wang Bao. Wang Bao first coveted the pearls in Xing Zhi’s hand, then, dazzled by Shen Li’s beauty, developed wicked thoughts. Xing Zhi lightly waved his sleeve and instantly gave Wang Bao a black eye.

Late at night, Wang Bao brought two servants to sneak attack Xing Zhi for revenge. After climbing over the wall, he realized just how foolish he had been. He was facing the King of the Spirit Realm, Bi Cang, and an ancient deity of the Celestial Realm. A few mere mortals were no match at all. As expected, they were once again beaten miserably.

After being subdued by Fu Sheng’s black iron, Shen Li frequently had terrifying dreams—dreams of herself sinking endlessly into the seabed, with no sense of smell or touch, surrounded by endless darkness and terror. Many times Xing Zhi saw Shen Li struggling and trembling in her nightmares. He immediately ordered Fu Rong Jun to seek out the Blood Seven Sons and the Five-Colored Molten Fire Rock, two ancient medicinal treasures that could help Shen Li recover sooner.

Fu Sheng had sent out many spies with Shen Li’s portrait to search for her. By coincidence, Wang Bao recognized the portrait and revealed Shen Li’s residence, exposing her whereabouts.
