Xiao Kaiyan crossed Yan Kuangtu's name off a list, then hesitated for a long time before reluctantly striking through Xiao Xueyu's name. Song Mingzhu informed Liu Suifeng that Li Chenzhou had returned to the main headquarters. Concerned, Liu Suifeng immediately inquired about Li Chenzhou's condition, but Song Mingzhu's stammering made him suspect the worst. He rushed to Li Chenzhou's bedroom door.

Zhao Shirong then emerged from the room, her face pale, and instructed Liu Suifeng to notify the elders that a river burial would take place in three days. Liu Suifeng, devastated, vowed to avenge Li Chenzhou. Zhao Shirong urged him not to be rash, explaining that the funeral would certainly attract troublemakers. She asked him to keep Li Chenzhou’s death a secret, telling outsiders that Li Chenzhou was merely away for cultivation, and to preside over the proceedings.

She revealed that Li Chenzhou had anticipated his end before entering the capital and had left a secret letter instructing that the military token be buried with him if he met an unfortunate fate. Xiao Kaiyan received a secret message detailing Li Chenzhou's death from poison and Zhao Shirong's plan for a river burial with the military token. The message also noted the cover story that Li Chenzhou was merely away for cultivation.

Xiao Kaiyan, deeming Li Chenzhou to have overestimated himself by opposing him and the court's peace talks with North Wasteland, decided to attend the funeral. Despite a subordinate's caution about the Power Gang's cunning, Xiao Kaiyan was confident that his informant’s news was accurate. Regardless of whether Li Chenzhou was truly dead or faking it, Xiao Kaiyan’s sole objective was to seize the military token. On the day of the funeral, Tang Fang arrived to bid farewell to Li Chenzhou.

Mourners paid their respects as Zhao Shirong personally placed the military token into the coffin and ordered it sealed. As Liu Suifeng and Blade King prepared to carry the coffin to the riverside, Tang Song, accompanied by others, stormed into the funeral hall, initiating a massacre. Tang Song then mocked Tang Fang for being at Li Chenzhou's funeral instead of mourning their father. Zhao Shirong revealed that this was a trap to expose the traitors.

Waterway King and Mortal King immediately revealed their betrayal, stating that they had already informed Xiao Kaiyan of Li Chenzhou's supposed death as a pledge of allegiance. Waterway King confessed to years of covert intelligence work, believing the Power Gang was doomed after Li Chenzhou's illness. Mortal King stated his long-standing resentment, claiming he'd wanted to rebel after Sword King's death and saw no place for himself with Liu Suifeng in charge. A fierce battle immediately ensued.

Liu Suifeng declared he would use his blades against the two traitors, Waterway King and Mortal King. Blade King confronted Nangong Wushang, who boasted of seizing the military token. Liu Suifeng instructed Zhao Shirong to guard the coffin while he dealt with the traitors. Tang Fang confronted Tang Qing, who had betrayed the Tang Sect. Tang Qing admitted her regret was only for always losing to Tang Fang, not for her betrayal.

Tang Fang condemned Tang Qing for allowing her jealousy to be used by others, then killed both Tang Qing and Tang Song, avenging her father. Blade King killed Nangong Wushang, and Liu Suifeng personally eliminated Waterway King and Mortal King. Just as the loyalists regrouped in the main hall, Xiao Kaiyan suddenly arrived, severely injuring everyone present with his powerful internal energy.

He then provocatively addressed Li Chenzhou, vowing to kill him again regardless of whether his death was real or faked. Suspecting Li Chenzhou's death was a ruse, Xiao Kaiyan approached the coffin to investigate. As he opened it to retrieve the military token, Li Chenzhou suddenly leaped out, striking Xiao Kaiyan with a powerful palm. Both Liu Suifeng and Zhao Shirong were relieved to see Li Chenzhou alive.

A furious Xiao Kaiyan, realizing his mistake, declared he would kill Li Chenzhou himself. Xiao Kaiyan then used a technique from the Book of Oblivion. Liu Suifeng stepped forward to block the attack, taking the full force of the blow and collapsing, barely clinging to life. Xiao Kaiyan then seized the military token and hastily departed, taunting Li Chenzhou for his failed trap and mockingly thanking him for the token.

Li Chenzhou, distraught at Liu Suifeng’s condition, admitted that he had feigned his death to expose traitors within the Power Gang, but deeply regretted that Liu Suifeng had been gravely injured in the process. He instructed Blade King to take Liu Suifeng to his study and retrieve a Core-Stabilizing Pill from a hidden compartment, hoping it might save his life, though the rest would depend on Liu Suifeng's own resilience.

Song Mingzhu then approached Li Chenzhou with a request, stating that regardless of whether Liu Suifeng recovered, she wished to remain by his side. Li Chenzhou granted her wish. The Core-Stabilizing Pill proved effective, and Liu Suifeng miraculously survived. Song Mingzhu stayed diligently by his bedside. Upon waking, Liu Suifeng learned from Song Mingzhu that Li Chenzhou had given him the pill and was now safe.

Liu Suifeng expressed frustration at again being saved by his master, while Song Mingzhu noted how he usually only risked his life for Li Chenzhou and Zhao Shirong. Song Mingzhu expressed surprise that he had risked his life to save her at the funeral. Liu Suifeng pondered this, asking himself aloud why he had done it. Song Mingzhu simply replied, "For no particular reason," observing that he had changed.

Tang Fang discovered that Xiao Kaiyan was assembling the North Wasteland armies at the water fortress. Zhao Shirong had arranged for Tang Fang to sprinkle tracker powder on the military token, and a tracker bee later indicated activity in the southwest direction. Meanwhile, Xiao Kaiyan, after ordering the North Wasteland elite troops to march on Xianren Pass to breach it from within, declared that Wu Jie had outlived his usefulness.

He then commanded three senior figures to escort Wu Jie to Wansong Pavilion, a move intended to divert Xiao Qiushui's attention, before gathering their forces at Xianren Pass for the final assault. Members of the Shenzhou Alliance reported to Xiao Qiushui that they had discovered two concealed entrances to the water fortress and that hidden North Wasteland troops were moving towards Xianren Pass. Xiao Qiushui realized that the North Wasteland's ambitions were now undeniable.

Concerned that Xianren Pass would fall without General Wu, he devised a plan: he instructed Liang Dou to lead a contingent to reinforce Xianren Pass, while he himself would infiltrate the water fortress to rescue General Wu. Despite Zhao Shirong's pleas for him not to use his full internal energy due to his unresolved poisoning, Li Chenzhou was resolute.

He argued that the country was hopeless and that General Wu's death would incite public outrage, making a collective effort against invaders the best option. Realizing Li Chenzhou's true intentions, Zhao Shirong took it upon herself to go rescue General Wu. On the way, Li Chenzhou and Zhao Shirong intercepted the prison cart. Three exotic master fighters attacked them, and Zhao Shirong was critically wounded, struck by a sword. Li Chenzhou swiftly defeated the three attackers.

As he embraced Zhao Shirong, he prepared to personally rescue General Wu, but was struck by a palm from the person impersonating General Wu inside the cart. Li Chenzhou’s already weakened body succumbed to the attack. As he lay dying, still cradling Zhao Shirong, he murmured that he was coming to join her and reflected that life was "as lonely as snow." By the time Liu Suifeng and his men arrived, both Li Chenzhou and Zhao Shirong had tragically passed away. Liu Suifeng, heartbroken, swore to complete what they had left unfinished.
