The Journey of Legend Episode 25 Recap
> The Journey of Legend Recap
Xiao Qiushui learned from Sancai about his eldest brother, Xiao Yiren. Sancai reported that Xiao Yiren was too busy to care for him and had disowned him as a brother. This left Xiao Qiushui disheartened, as he had intended to return the Changge Sword to his brother. Despite his sadness, Sancai brought a zither, and Xiao Qiushui, inspired, played and sang "A Laugh Across the Seas," while Tang Fang accompanied on the xiao.
Sancai, Zuoqiu, and Deng Yuhan joined in song, reaffirming their oath to the Shenzhou Alliance. Later that evening, as Xiao Qiushui was cleaning the Changge Sword, preparing to return it to Xiao Yiren the next morning, Tang Fang approached him. She inquired about his injuries and expressed gratitude for his help in securing her position as the Tang Sect's family head in Insect Valley.
As a token of thanks, she gave him a dart, explaining that it had helped her pass the Tang Sect's first trial and served as a protective talisman. She hoped it would shield him from further harm. Meanwhile, the Xiao Villa was decorated for a wedding. Xiao Xueyu, the bride-to-be, reflected on her decision.
She recalled Xiao Yiren's past promise to find her a suitable match and Xiao Qiushui's belief that a woman should marry for love, neither of which had materialized. Yet, she felt a duty to her parents to help revive the family. Xiao Yiren visited her, noting her beauty and asking if she was ready.
Xiao Xueyu asked him to manage her herbs, then reminisced about a childhood fall from a cliff while gathering herbs and how her brother had always collected special herbs for her. Xiao Yiren clarified that it was not he, but Xiao Qiushui, who had always done these things, often returning with wounds and being scolded by their father.
Realizing it was Xiao Qiushui who had quietly cared for her, Xiao Xueyu then, asserting her identity as a Xiao family member raised and cherished by their parents, declared her own desire to uphold the family's honor. She also thanked Xiao Yiren for his efforts on behalf of the Xiao family and asked him to retract any discouraging words he might have spoken.
Upon seeing the festive decorations, Xiao Qiushui learned from the steward that Xiao Xueyu was marrying into the Nangong family. He immediately confronted Xiao Yiren, demanding to know why their sister was being forced into such a marriage, asserting his right to know as her brother. Xiao Yiren dismissed his concerns, stating that Xiao Qiushui's involvement in family matters was over. Xiao Qiushui accused Xiao Yiren of sacrificing Xueyu for the family's status, especially since Tang Song's power was waning.
Xiao Yiren, alarmed by Xiao Qiushui's knowledge of the Tang Sect, accused him of shady dealings and bringing trouble to the family. Xiao Qiushui clarified he had only acted honorably to deal with those who undermined Jin City's factions. Xiao Xueyu then joined the heated discussion, stating that she was willing to marry for the family's sake and for her own security in these turbulent times.
She believed their parents would approve and urged them to stop arguing before leaving for the wedding. After Xueyu departed, Xiao Kaiyan intervened, explaining the Xiao family's precarious situation after offending the Power Gang, and that the Nangong family held their "Huanhua Sword Manual," leaving Xiao Yiren no choice but to agree to the marriage to prevent the manual from being lost. At the Nangong family entrance, Xiao Xueyu told Xiao Yiren that she would no longer burden the family.
Later that night, in the bridal chamber, Xiao Xueyu was horrified to find Nangong Han, not Nangong Wushang, entering as her groom. Nangong Han brazenly admitted to the deception, producing a marriage contract bearing Xiao Yiren's signature and seal. He mocked the Xiao family's decline, claiming his marriage to her was an elevation of her status. Xiao Xueyu defiantly declared she would rather die than submit to him.
Suddenly, Xiao Qiushui burst in, injuring Nangong Han and taking Xiao Xueyu away. Wielding the Changge Sword, he declared that any further provocation against the Xiao family would be met with his blade's mercilessness. Xiao Qiushui took Xiao Xueyu to a safe, temporary residence, promising to confront Xiao Yiren the next day.
Xiao Xueyu confided in him, recalling how he had been the first to make her feel like a true Xiao family member when she was a child, and how wonderful their family life had been then. Xiao Qiushui comforted her, asserting that family bonds should not be shackles of gratitude or obligation, but built on respect and understanding.
He emphasized that no one, including herself, should force her to do something against her will, urging her to cherish herself and pursue her own desires. Touched, Xiao Xueyu thanked him for his words and for his numerous past rescues. Xiao Qiushui reaffirmed his vow to protect her and ensure she recovered her health with the help of the Qu sisters who lived there. As Xiao Qiushui left Xueyu, he encountered Tang Fang, who was preparing to depart.
Tang Fang expressed her happiness at Xueyu's rescue, stating that women's struggles were interconnected. She explained that she had received a letter from her father, requiring her return to the Tang Sect to handle some urgent matters. Xiao Qiushui told her to take care of her affairs and then return so they could travel to Emei together to seek the secrets of the Book of Oblivion, which might cure her father.
Shortly after Tang Fang's departure, Zuoqiu rushed to inform Xiao Qiushui that Nangong Wushang and his brothers were causing a disturbance at the Xiao Villa. Xiao Qiushui immediately went there. Nangong Wushang, confronting Xiao Yiren, accused him of disrespecting the Nangong family, demanding the return of the betrothal gifts and an additional five thousand taels as compensation for their losses. He even threatened to demolish the Xiao Villa. Xiao Qiushui arrived wielding the Changge Sword, driving away Nangong Wushang's men.
He declared the marriage pact void and promised to return the betrothal gifts by the next morning, prompting Nangong Wushang to retreat, knowing he was outmatched. Xiao Yiren, seeing Xiao Qiushui with the Changge Sword and having angered the Nangong family, grew furious. Xiao Yiren, noting Xiao Qiushui's greatly improved martial skills, accused him of his trouble-making skills also growing.
Xiao Qiushui defended his rescue of Xueyu, stating that he had done nothing wrong and that Xiao Yiren was the one who had erred. He then declared that while he had initially intended to return the Changge Sword, he now deemed it unnecessary. He asserted that the responsibility to revive the Xiao family fell on all its members, but he vehemently disagreed with Xiao Yiren's methods and intended to take charge in his own way. Later, Sancai, appearing before Xiao Qiushui with his clumsy lightness skill, revealed he had found an Eagle Flute in a hidden compartment in the Sword King's bedroom.
